Can anybody create a tool, cab-file, or registry entry which allows sorting contacts like this:
Group 1 (displayed)
- Person a (hidden, but can be shown when clicking on Group 1)
- Person b (hidden, but also shown when clicking on Group 1)
Group 2 (displayed)
- Person c (hidden, but can be shown when clicking on Group 2)
- Person d (hidden, but also shown when clicking on Group 2 )
Group X (X= is a Parameter for a group) (displayed)
- Person y (hidden, but can be shown when clicking on for example Group X)
- Person z (hidden, but also shown when clicking on for example Group X )
and so on ...
Perhaps with an option to send every person in a group SMS or E-Mail
i would love to have this as well

I noticed that everytime I send a sms from my contacts their names are not shown and only their number. Is there anyway the names of contact appear instead of their number?
Thank You.
Bump
I'd like to know if this is possible too. Come on u techies, let us mere mortals know if this can be done and if so how? or should that be how much?
Re: Bump
Search for Paragon Software sms_name.
The program sms_names will only show the names of contact when a sms is recieved. It does'nt help in showing the names of your receipient when sending the message to them. Their numbers are shown instead of there names.....
I have to double check if the number appearing matches to the name of the contact.
you can tab & hold on a contact then select "Send sms" ... this will display only the number ... but in an empty sms if you click the "To" field and type the first 3 letters and then select the name this will display the name as well ... weird but true!!
Thank you for that advice . It did work. One more question. How do you do it if you would like group sending?
Thank you.
unfort. there is no concept of groups in pOutlook ... one good trick would be selecting the required names then copy the "To" part and paste it into a text file for future usage
SMS Group
There is the way to send sms to group. I should
1. buy Pocket Informant
2. create groups
3. check numers belong to certain group
4. hold and click Extras-Send SMS
This procedure will open inbox with checking contacts.

Hi

How can i add certain contacts to group to make them easily searchable and easier to send group texts.
thanks
Tim
1- Tap on the contact you want to assignt to a group
2- Tap Edit
3- Scroll down to Categories
4- Tap on Categories
5- Select one of the existing categories or if you want to add a new one yourself tap at add/delete tab and enter a new one.

Can you then assign ring tones to groups?
No XDA II hasn't a build-in option to assign ringtones to groups or persons.
However there are third party programs which offer this functionality.
A free one can be downloaded at: http://phonext.oabsoftware.nl

I'd like to show the group of my contacts when they call me. It's handy if I'll have a 'customers' group, so I'll know who's calling.
Thanks for the help
I set up a group of people under the people tab. When I try to fwd a picture message to the group it allows me to select the group and inserts all the contacts and appears to send the message but no one receives the message. Anyone know why or ow to fix.
Hi, just got my Nexus 4 but I can't work out how to send a text to a group? Am I missing something? I used to be able to do this in my old Symbian phone.
I can add contacts individually but text type changes to MMS which costs extra so I don't want to do that and the group I created doesn't show up in the messaging screen. I set up a group with 21 contacts so I'd rather be able to add the group than individually add them each time and send it as a SMS.
Group messaging works as a MMS - you can turn that off and it will send out 21 SMS messages which isn't group messaging. Go into the settings screen and turn off Group Messaging.
You can not send to a group with the normal SMS app, maybe Handsent or GoSMS can do that.
