In Samsung Omnia, a very nice feature is the vibration when you press a key in the virtual keyboard which gives a nice feedback effect. How can I enable this in the Diamond
Thanks

Hi to All,
Apart of "phone pad" problem I discovered yesterday, I have just found new "feature" on my Qtek9100. When I use hardware keyboard typing SMS messages, occasionally (again) I have put my keyboard in state like I permanently hold "blue point" button, i.e. I can write all "blue" symbols (e.g. digits, ~, ! etc.), and in order to write letters I have to hold down "blue point" button. It is very annoying I must say. First I thought, that I put my device in some short-cut mode by pressing combination of keys, but according to user guide, there is not such state.
So my question is - anybody experiences the same, and if yes, any cure available?
Thanks in advance,
Regards
A quick double-press of that key acts like a "lock" - like a caps lock, if you like. To disable it again, double-press it.
Same goes for the shift key.

Thanks very much jko.
I just wonder, why those handy tips are not described in the user guide, but of course this is rhetorical question
if you haven't done so yet, do the tweak that shows you whether you have the FN on or caps on(keyboard indicator I think its called). its in the big all tweaks topic and also included in the optimizer/wireless G .cab
I have a Touch Cruise and I'm seriously considering the Touch HD. I never use TouchFlo on my Cruise but instead I make heavy use of AE Button plus so I have quite a few double-press and even triple-press actions set on my buttons and I'm concerned about how well these would work on the HD.
From looking at the HD am I correct in assuming that there is no positive clicking action when one of the four front buttons is pressed? If so then does anyone use a button mapper to set double and triple press actions on some of the front buttons and, if so, then do you find it easy to do these actions when there is no tactile or audible feedback on a button press?

The HD gives a little vibration when one of these keys is pressed. It also does this with some other progs, i.e. clicking a link on Opera to give a tactile response. I quite like it.
Thanks for the feedback (pun intended). It sounds like one of those things that needs to be experienced so I think that the next time I'm in London I'll go and have a play with one.
I guess I'm still at least as concerned about how double clicking would feel now though since a small vibration is, in user interface terms, a reasonably long feedback action so I'm thinking that the user would need to make the second keypress of the "double click" while the vibration feedback from the first click is still tailing off. Then again (and I'm kind of thinking aloud here) maybe that is exactly what is wanted since this gives a user some idea of how to time their double click, i.e. if the user waits until the vibration from the first click has fully subsided before doing the second press then that is too long and will be taken as a two single clicks rather than a double click.
I'm now wondering whether, probably accidentally, HTC have actually created the perfect feedback mechanism for double-clicking.

i was wondering... as a user of a vista tablet i see that the use of the onscreen vista input panel is very very convenient.
i give that ease of use to one perticular and simple feature making the button you pressed last stay lit until you press the next button and also (but far less improtant) the lack of space between the keys...
this "last word highlighting allows you to type without looking at text after each letter to verify that you indeed pressed the right letter or even pressed one at all, and greatly improves the input speed.. i manage to write on my tablet keyboard almost as fast as a hardware one...
so if anyone knows of a keyboard that does that or a registry key that can allow any of the existing keyboard out there to do this, i believe will make a great contribution to mankind... or at least the average virtual keyboard user...
I have an HTC Touch Pro 2 (CDMA)-Sprint . I was wondering if anyone could create a simple mortscript that would disable the power button when the keyboard is slid out.
I have no idea where to start with Mort. The way they have the power button situated, you wrap your fingers right where the power button is on the TP 2 when you are typing. It's unnerving!
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Better to ask this in the Mortscript thread here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=289197
Not everyone subscribed to that Thread reads the Whole Dev and Hacking Forum. And not everyone in Dev and Hacking Forums know mortscript.
is there a way to get our phones to understand a longpress on a hardware key means to type its alternate function?'
I mean that if you press and hold q for a few second you could type 1?
i find it annoying to press alt each time because i love the keyboard and use it for most everything.
most alternate keyboards have this feature and i was wondering if it could be ported for us hardware kb users
I'd also like to see this. Perhaps this thread should be moved to the development or themes/apps threads, though, as this is more of a mod?
