My institute has a genuine copy of Platform Builder for Windows CE 5.0 given by Microsoft. Is it possible to develop a 5.0 ROM for Magician using that?
No.
You need a BSP (Board Support Package) from the OEM that contains all the drivers and settings for a specific device.
Plus, there is a different Platform Builder for Windows CE and Windows Mobile.
Thank you very much. But I'd like to ask how do they realize Linux on Magician.

via reverse engeneering.
You can do the same - reverse engeneer the ROM, recreate BSP for magician and compile Windows CE 5.0, or even Windows CE 6.0 for your device. It would take 1-2 years for this to do.
You would be unable to compile Windows Mobile 5.0 because you don't have WinMobile adaptation kit. MS provides it to OEMs only.
And you should know the difference between CE and WM.
Hi! I'm a user of a QTEKS200, with Windows Mobile 5.0
And I find this new OS for SmarthPhone
http://www.openmoko.com/press/index.html
And I'm asking if somebody knows, how to boot this Linux Distribution on my S200.
If somebody know something, just tell in this forum!
You can't.
Since the hardware drivers for WM based devices like your S200 are part of the ROM image and tightly packed along with the OS, unless someone goes to the great trouble of reverse engineering them and recompiling for this new platform, there is no way your phone will run this OS.
Plus, from what I see on their site this is not a generic distribution, but like other embedded OSs a device specific version.

First, this distribution is not available. Second, the Prophet has omap850 CPU
which is a PITA to support with Linux because it is completely undocumented.
Am I Able To Put Windows CE 7.0 On The Netbook?
It Has Windows CE 6.0 on it now
Bump please help
still need help guys any ideas
If you get your hands on original BSP then sure, you can build CE7 for it. Try talking to original manufacturer, but I doubt he will give you BSP. Not sure if you can go by with having just some other CE7 module and do a bit of hexediting.
If you go to the Windows CE website, you can put the 180 day trial version it. It requires 2 others Windows downloads, but I am about to do it right now. I will let you know how it goes
whether indeed there is no what'sup application for windows mobile or java version..???
or maybe the author forgot that WinMo OS is still there
Can we install Windows CE on our A500? Windows CE is compatible with ARM based processor architectures. So I think thats may be a way to install it on our tablet. Can someone help to make this happen?
