I know the core is still Windows Mobile 6.1, and for the most part, It's the same.
However, has anybody used both of them?
I wish to know the differences between them.
I'm currently using The original clean dev version from ND4SPD, but wouldn't mind upgrading to 1.1 or MyHTC's Rom.

Hi guys - what is the best WinMo ROM to use if you are using Android exclusively? Does it matter if it's WinMo 6.1 or 6.5? Do some offer better perfomance than others? Does more free memory in WinMo make a difference to Android performance?
Thanks
I really shouldn't make a difference. When you boot up Android, it shuts down WinMo and exclusively runs Android. No memory at that point is being used by anything other than Android.
Only difference the ROM would make is if you have one that has allowed you to unlock your GPS, in which case GPS will then work in Android.
Hmmm... I didn't realize Android unloads or "shuts down" Windows before starting up. I had assumed that it just used whatever memory remained after Windows had loaded.
what you should care about is your radio version, not your rom version. most people use the bell 3.42.50 radio. you get this by flashing the bell standard rom with that radio (check out PPCGeeks vogue thread, or other how-tos for a link or google), don't let customizations run (soft reset before they do), and then flash a custom rom of your choice.

Yup - I have all of that - Android is running really well (xrom2 from Zenulator). I was just trying to maximize resources for Android but I guess the boot OS version etc is irrelevant.
Thanks.
Quick question,
Will someone point me to instructions on how to upate the Hero's Rom and themes etc.

If you have the T-Mobile USA you are running window 6.5 i thin the Euro version is 6.5.x but you What you are showing is your radion if i am not mistaken...so anything for 6.5 should work...the difference between those is the 6.5.x has the start button on the bottom among other things but that is the distinguishing factor. Hope this helped
Everybody is using the 5.2.xxxxx OS's.
If you want to use a new build, go flash a custom ROM as they incorporate the newest leaked builds in their ROM's.
Also, you are running Windows Mobile 6.5, even though there isn't anywhere that says 6.5, just know that you are.
Thanx, wasnt sure, thats why i asked, but now i know.
appreciate it.

Hello guys..
I got a HTC 3452 for my sister. It came with Win Mo 6.1. I want to upgrade it to either 6.5 or android. But got to know that android doesn't work on OMAP processors so, wanna know which ROM would be the best. Secondly, can i downgrade it to 6.1 back in case 6.5 is not satisfactory coz some one told me its not possible. Thirdly can the processor be overclocked?
Answers to all 3 are yes.
You can upgrade to 6.5. I'd recommend Onyx personally, but each to their own.
You can downgrade to 6.1. Again, I'd recommend Onyx.
Yes, it can be overclocked. A simple google will show you a couple of programs
To anticipate your next questions:
"How do i upgrade to 6.5"
Please make your way to the rom section, at which point you will find some detailed stickies, and all the roms. Feel free to try which ever ones you feel like, there are many in there.
Make sure you read up about CID unlocking, SPL and IPL. as some roms may require different IPL/SPLs then stock.
@captainstu72
Thank you very much... Will try it tonight or tomorrow..
Friends i hve htc elf 7 days ago i have installed onyx wm 6.5.x
now a question arises in my mind that in future if i want to go stock rom that is windows mobile 6 using shipped rom can i move to it.....
Because going from windows 6.5 to windows 6 is a type of downgarding.....
anyone answer..???
Hi,
I flashed my Elf and Elfin many times and I had no props with custom or shipped rom.
Maybe the ISP/SPL can make problems, if you installed newer ones.
These are my experiences.
Of course you can! But why go back from Rolls Royce to Subaru?
Want to go back to windows mobile 6.0 original....
what to do anyone tell me step by step
now i m having windows mobile 6.5 onyx.....
Find the original Rom for your device http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=2045325&postcount=2 and flash like you did with the Onyx

you're still using the subaru's machine even if you're using Rolls Royce chassis .
i think 6.5/.X consumes a little bit more energy than its predecessor.
and OMAP just can't keep up with the new upgrade, even with omapclockkeep
Right
I was thinking about the difference between Custom and Stock Rom
