I know there is a way to do it but I cannot find this anywhere. What is the registry setting to change the notifications area from dsiplaying every message type with a 0 to only show what messages there are and the other aren't visible? I thought it had something to do with icon count but I don't know.
Disregard - I found it.

Does anyone know how to turn off the notification window so that when I receive a text message it doesn't give me a pop up windows showing it?
Thanks
Mark
This is well documented in the tweaks section of the Hermes wiki:
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=HTC_Hermes
Unfortunately, there is no such a tweak.
OH! I thought he was talking about the "Message Sent" notification. MY FAULT! Sorry guys! I should read these things more carefully.

Try this.
Start>Settings>Personal>Sounds & Notifications>Notifications
Select "Messaging: New Text Message" from the Event List
Make sure the "Display message on screen" tick box is unticked
Press OK to save settings.

Probably enough for mdavenport, but not for me because it still changes a softkey to Notification and popups that window once I press it. For me an icon in the titlebar would be just enough. Do you know how to fully disable the notification?
Location Based Informatio - Cell Lookup
I have a hermes and wasnt to use PhoneAlarm to switch profiles depending on the cell that I am in.
I have got the app working but no cell information is coming up.
I did read somewhere that you have to change a couple of registry values to "de-restrict" the phone to allow this information to work.
Any ideas anyone?
Please let me know of anything else I can try to get this working....
Thanks
Mark
Sorry didnt mean to post this here, have started a new topic....
Just to carry on this thread, I have a O2 P.A.Y.G sim in my Vario II
When I send a text I get a notification of how much left (I can live with this and in fact like it) but I also get a notification tone/jingle a default Tmobile one, I have gone to the extent of muting the handset and disableing all notifications in the settings menu, but still I get a tone/jingle.
Is there anyway of turning this sound off
Forgot to sayI looked into the registry and the lines in WiKi are not there on my machine
SMS Notification Always On
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Inbox\Settings]
"SMSDeliveryNotify"=dword:00000001 ->0 to disable, 1 to enable.
Disable SMS Sent Notification
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Inbox\Settings]
"SMSNoSentMsg"=dword:00000001 ->0 to enable, 1 to disable.
I have no SMSDeliveryNotify
or
SMSNosentMsg
OK I added Settings to the inbox etc.. and yes I have lost the message sent....
BUT! I still get a sound notification (notify) with my remaining balance .. Is this an O2 thing in a kinda speech bubble.
Now I'm losing what little hair i have

Nope entered both settings but still the same thing, also I'm wasteing my money trying to fix it.
Even if there was a setting to just get rid of the noise that would be fine, but no matter what volume you have set it's the same annoying thing
OK
Folks found the answer, probably not the right one but it worked for me.
I emailed O2 and they turned off the notification for me, now I have silent text sending
don't I want that the pda turn on when a sms arrives
what can i do?
Hello,

as wrote in my post, I've already done that... but that means only to not show the message directy, when it arives. I've already unlick that checkbox, but there is still an notification on the screen when i get a mail, which says "you have x unread messages"... from there you can "dismiss" or "show"...
Wow, i had that question in my mind, answer came before the question. Thanks rudegar.

Call your service provider (AT&T, etc.) and tell them about the notification problem. Provide info...they can fix for you from their end. I had the notification problem when after listening to voicemail, the word and icon remained on my device.

I don't think, that my provider can help, because I use Direct Push, which communicates directly with our own Exchange-Server... my provider provides only the possibility to connect to the internet. It must be a hidden setting in WM-registry or something like that

OK, sorry 'bout that. I have direct push mail available, but don't use it because of what you're experiencing right now. I just go on the internet to check and read my mail. I'm not all that familiar with direct push; don't really know how it works.
For those still looking for the answer for this; the only way to turn this off when using Push mail is by setting the following registry value:
HKCU\ControlPanel\Notifications\{A877D65A-239C-47a7-9304-0D347F580408}
set value "Options" to 20000000 (hexadecimal) or 536870912 (decimal)
Note that this disables email notifications completely, so if you want just a sound or a vibe, you'll have to use some other tool (e.g. MortScript) to achieve that.
i found this on another site.It may help you..
1. Install a registry editor like Resco File Explorer’s add-on registry editor or PHM registry editor.
2. Open HKEY_CURRENT_USER
3. Tap control panel>notifications
4. Tap default
5. Tap options
6. Choose what value will be applicable to you and replace the default number with it (for XDA Atom, the number was 13, I replaced it with 8 to suit my preference):
0 show icon
1 show icon and play notification sound
2 show icon and vibration
3 show icon and vibration and play notification sound
4 same as 0
5 same as 1
6 same as 3
7 same as 3
8 show icon and notification bubble
9 show icon and play notification sound and show notification bubble
10 show icon and notification bubble and vibration
7. If you want to configure how long the notification bubble will stay on the screen, tap on duration instead of options. Change the number there into the number of seconds you want the notification bubble to stay up.
I've created a CAB that does the following changes, however SMS notification is still working (which is ok for me).
Code:
HKCU\ControlPanel\Notifications\{A877D65A-239C-47a7-9304-0D347F580408}
set value "Options" to 20000000 (hexadecimal) or 536870912 (decimal)
OK, guys, I managed to switch off the annoying visual notifications for missed calls and SMS by setting the 536870912 value for "Options". But there's a problem - I cannot get any sound notification for new SMS Is there anyway to get sound/vibration with all other visual notifications turned off? Please tell me "yes"
Has anyone found a solution in the meantime? I'm still searching for a way to disable the "visual notification" without loosing the new-email-sound.
JR...AWESOME JOB ! Thank you so so so so much for sharing this cab file....I am so happy I didn't have to go into the registry to make the change !!!!
So I kinda had the same question. I'm using s2u2 but I don't like the notification popping up when its activated. The whole screen turns black except for the notification bubble, which kinda defeats the purpose of using s2u2. I have disabled all but the downloaded mms notification cuz is greyed out on my device? Is this normal on everyones device? I don't wanna lose sounds, I just want the bubble gone
Would be great to have this, especially with S2U2 and PocketCM.. Is there still no way?
Anyone know of a way to disable the unread e-mail notifier? The settings under Sound & Notifications don't seem to help. I've seen some registry hacks around SMS notification, but not for email. And I am sick of being told I have 345 unread emails .
Thanks,
d
Has a solution for this ever been found?
It's quite annoying to have to "dismiss" unread emails.
I am definitely looking for a registry hack for this as well. Any info would be appreciated!
I'm even willing to take a registry hack that stops ALL notifications on the home screen. :x:
I know what you mean. With several email accounts setup on the phone, I am constantly getting notifications.
I'm also curious about this too.
I'm tempted to disabling the whole email thing, and just going to gmail.com when I want to check my email. That little notification just won't stop, lol.
The good news is, after looking through many forums - I found a registry tweak on another site for another phone. I changed it in the i760 and it seemed to have resolved the issue. See below:
The only way to turn this off when using Push mail is by setting the following registry value:
HKCU\ControlPanel\Notifications\{A877D65A-239C-47a7-9304-0D347F580408}
set value "Options" to 20000000 (hexadecimal) or 536870912 (decimal)
Note that this disables email notifications completely, so if you want just a sound or a vibe, you'll have to use some other tool (e.g. MortScript) to achieve that. (credits to jvdvyah)
That worked fine on my Mogul.
Any idea how to disable Voicemail notification?
Thanks,
I'm using a Japanese Hermes and for some reasons I can't find Message sent (SMS) notification when I go to Start - Settings - Sounds & Notifications - Notification Tab.
I know the registry tweak is somewhere in HKCU\ControlPanel\Notifications\ but I don't know which one because the Default key is missing as well. I need your help guys.

Ok, maybe my first post was difficult to understand. Here's what I'm trying to say.
This is the notification key for battery low warning:
HKCU\ControlPanel\Notifications\{A877D663-239C-47a7-9304-0D347F580408}
For new MMS message:
HKCU\ControlPanel\Notifications\{29C3570E-5483-4cb0-9B57-5CFED893AC45}
For sending MMS:
HKCU\ControlPanel\Notifications\{29C3570F-5483-4cb0-9B57-5CFED893AC45}
Please help me find the key for sending SMS. Thank you.
I finally found the solution.
SMS NOTIFICATION

9 - show icon and play notification sound and show notification bubble
10 - show icon and notification bubble and vibration
11 - show icon and play notification sound and show notification bubble and vibration
If keys Missing create them!
Hi all,
I can't seem to change the settings for the notification of SMS and e-mail messages. Both seem to make the device come out of standby, play the notification sound, and show the blinking green light. It's annoying, and I can't seem to be able to change it (even with the TD2 tools).
Any one with the same issues?
Thanks
Have you turned off notifications for SMS in Sound Settings? Also, there's a cab floating around called SMS tools or something that may have this tweak.
or
Use a regsitry editor and go to the key:
HKLM\Drivers\BuiltIn\RIL
Set DisableSMSWakeUpEvent to 1
If the entry does not exist, you will have to create it.
