Android x86

Hi guys.
Have you guys heard if anybody is working on getting Android x86 to support the hardware in the shift?
maybe that : http://www.androidx86.org/screenshots.html
Anybody try this? It support the samsung q1 ultra, and it is similar to our shift...
I have it running on my shift as we speak, (well it was till the screen turned off, now it won't turn back on again though didn't really expect the power management to work tbh)
Wifi : Not working
bluetooth : Not working
3g : Not working
Screen : Res 640 x 480 x 16 works nicely
Touchpad : works
Volume keys : works
Haven't tried anything else as it is not very stable,
I used this build http://android-x86.googlecode.com/files/froyo-vm-20100812.iso which works if you write to a disk using unetbootin and boot using the Vesa mode then choose 640 x 480 x 16 mode.
I would have thought that it should be perfectly possible to get the touchscreen working as we can now get ubuntu with touchscreen working 100% and I'm sure the htcpen drivers could be adapted for android. Don't know about the wifi or 3g though as there still are no working drivers for ubuntu.
I would love to have android on the shift, tbh probably would prefer on the winmo side and ubuntu on the x86 side, but even on the x86 side it will make an amazing tablet.
And the USB port? Does it work?
did any one tested Froyo?!?

I am currently typing this on my shift running Ubuntu 10.10. Everything works fine except the wifi/3g but I got a mini dongle which works perfectly.

android x86 persistent live
Hello everyone. I found a way to make persistent live USB on x86 Android without installing anything. I have done so
I opened universal usb installer, and I created a live usb with Android 4.4
then I took the toporesize-app for windows and I have created a data.img in ext3 filesystem and copied to the usb live
In conclusion, I set the initial setup I installed the app restarts, and various apps and settings are preserved.

[Q] USB tethering

Hello,
When I plug my phone via USB, there is an option for USB tethering. However unlike WinMo, Windows 7 will not find the driver automatically for this.
I tried searching the forum, but came up with too much noise (all ROM thread talking about having this feature), but could not find how to actually use this.
Can anyone help?
Anyone?...
alot depends on the android build your using, I've heard that 3rd party apps get the job done. search around for more info because IDK
AFAIK USB tethering depends on which ROM u r using.
Desire ROM can get the HTC Sync job done, while some other ROMs (like Darkstone w/o HTC sense) will have the problem you mentioned (its my personal experience).
So maybe u'd better try diff favours to get diff exp
Thanks. I was expecting it to be universal like WinMo. However if it's not the case, then I'll try a few ROMs, and see how it goes.
Instead of trying different builds, you could use Android Wired Tether.
That's exactly what I was looking for, thanks a lot.

Is it posible or not ?!

I am looking more than 2 hours about the possibility to run Android (any version) on windows side.
Can somebody tell me if this is possible?
If yes what is working and what not?
I think, thats possible
There are x-86 versionbs of android builds and I have run a few and most of them work with htc shift. The best results that I have got is with the ASUS X-86honeycomb build. The following work in most of the builds.
1. It boots
2. keybad and touchpad
3. Resolution is good.
4. Performance looks good.
What doe snot work.
1. Touchscreen does not work
2. Wifi does not work
3. Ethernet does not work
There was only one build where I could see the touch working but the screen resolution was not good and if I touch one icon a different icon used to get activated.
By the way I have posted the same question which you have with the details of the links to the builds and also some information if someone is intrested to port the wifi and touch drivers on android x-86 builds.

DVB-T USB Possibility

Hi guys. I was wondering today about possibility to have DVB-T on HTC HD2 running on Android.
I am not going to ask if it is possible now because I know that there is some possibility that it might work.
Rather I want to make a new thread about this.
From what I know already there is possibility to have USB Host on Android HTC HD2.
The only problem is Drivers for DVB-T.
I have read on the xda forum for HTC Athena that they made it to work not fully functional but at least it worked.
Android is based on linux so if we have linux drivers it might be possible to have DVB-T Stick working on HTC HD2 with proper application to watch TV.
I know that there are already other ways of watching TV using DVB-T Stick connected to PC and have a running stream server to stream video from DVB-T on PC.
If anyone interesting and willing to help to make this work just please stick with this thread, post everything usefull for this.
I dont want anyone to develop this possibility just because I want it. In fact I want it to make it clear if it is possible or not. Lots of users would appreciate new feature on this phone to make it even bigger beast phone and now its just about to find out if it is possible or not. If its not thats not the end of the world .
Remember everybody here is doing such a things in free time.

[Q] 3g hot spot cannot host starcraft games on port 6112 tcp/udp

So I have a touch pro 2 on windows mobile 6.5, playing and hosting starcraft works fine using the wifi hotspot app.
Now, boot off to Android 2.3.4 on the same device and cannot host any games. The latency is so high no one can join. This is usually the case for port 6112 on tcp/udp access is restricted.
So I'm wondering if Android has that port locked down on the OS side. I'm having same issue on my Samsung Galaxy S3 as well. Enabling the Android hotspot and tried to host some starcraft game and getting similar result when I boot the touch pro 2 off on Adnroid 2.3.4.
I've also tried this on Galaxy Note 2 on T-mobile 3g/4g and no go.
In the Android market there is an app called "Port Farwarder". No luck on that software but the existence of such software also making me suspicious that Android OS is also blocking that particular port.
Anyone know what's going on?
