I have tried and tried, read many articles but have become more confused.
I have an iMate JAQ. Its connecting successfully to the active sync of my lappy through bluetooth. I want to create a Bluetooth PAN, its getting detected as a NAP Access Point in the personal area settings too.
But when I click on Connect, it says that it was unable to connect to the device. The device may already be in use with the computer or some other device.
I have tried:
- Disconnecting from Active Sync, then trying to connect
- Changing the ip of Bluetooth PAN driver in my JAQ to 192.168.0.3 and that of my PC's Bluetooth PAN connection to 192.168.0.4
No success.
Can anyone please help?
Some progress
I found out my device is an AKU3 (so PAN is coupled with GPRS through internet sharing). I dont want to share my GPRS...I just want to create a PAN so that I can view and transfer shared files in my PC. Currently its possible only through cable

I'm able to sync via Bluetooth. But I have to initiate the connection from my XDA II. Start ActiveSync in XDA II, click "Tools", select "Connect via Bluetooth". Is there a way to initiate the connection from PC ActiveSync?
BT ActiveSync
I don't personally think there is a way to do this unless you take remote control of your pocketpc from the pc. What I have also found is that the Bluetooth is very shaky when anything other than small data transfers are concerned e.g. if you try to surf to a web page with loads of images or you have quite a few pages in AvantGo, the BT connection will be dropped. It is far from ideal...
I have had zero success in synching by bluetooth, all I can do is beam files to the pc via bluetooth, I also cannot browse my xda2 from the bluetooth desktop.

You need to create a virtual serial port using the Bluetooth software on your desktop PC. Then set the Connection Settings on ActiveSync to allow connection from the serial port you just created. If your Bluetooth software has an ActiveSync profile, it will do all this for you automatically. Otherwise, you need to use the Serial Port profile.
You can browse your XDA II through ActiveSync. Just select the Explore command.
how to control the assigned com port
the bluetooth software on the desktop insists on setting the com ports as com10 or higher...I read somewhere that activesync does not recognize com port higher than 9.
I re-installed the drivers several times....and it only allows for com 10...and of course activesync does not recognize that as an available port to connect to!!
any thoughts??
setup:
Widcom 1.4.2 bluetooth driver on win XP Pro
Epox USB dongle
Activesync 3.7.1
I am using the same software but it always offers com3 or com4 which works fine, if you right click on the bluetooth desktop serial port profile does it not give you an choice under "properties"? I have worked out how to do most things now but I am struggling with my laptop with bt dongle trying to browse the web through sharing, I know the settings are correct but it just wont let me through, I have a full network access running and can access files etc but no internet on laptop. :?
I've been trying to setup a network between my XDA iis and my desktop PC. I want to be able to access the internet connection which my pc has on broadband, and to access the pc's files and printer. Also to access the xda files from the pc via shared folders etc.
My setup is a bluetooth usb adaptor pluggedinto the pc with belkin software installed. The xda has BT already on it.
I have no idea how to go about now etting up the connection between them. I think what I need is a VPN but I'm not sure.
Please can anyone talk me through the setup, it's driving me mad to a point of disliking the xda?
Bluetooth can be a pain, and not particularly fast compared to wifi.
Synopsis:
You don't need to use VPN, just a standard bluetooth serial port (eg Com 6), use PC's activesync to connect through eg Com6 and set your PDA to activesync through bluetooth.

Well i originally had a wifi card on the advice of a pc store, and was told I could set it up peer to peer without a router. This was a complete failure and in the end they swapped it for BT card instead. Is it going to be easier and more reliable to setup a router for wifi rather than peer to peer?
you can only get data over bluetooth with the ms stack if you are connected to activesync using bluetooth

I'm sorry if i'm not the first who askes this:
- is there any way to connect to lan trough buetooth?
I've got the orange spv m600.
Is there a widcom driver for this?
Thanx a lot for your help
No, that's what WiFi is for.
Yeah, i know, but at home i've got a bluetooth acces point which i use to connect 2 laptops to lan. So i also wanted to do this with the prophet.
Now i have to use a computer with active sync to connect to the internet, but i cant acces lan that way.
Good Question
Wifi aside......it would be handy if we could use bluetooth to connect to the lan setup even if just to transfer files. Theres a program for palm that does a similar idea. But I guess really it IS down to having to use wifi for now.
Bluetooth security has always worried me anyway.
bluezard
I can transfer files with bluezard on wm5 using filetransfer profile
other options for lan and other profiles are also there but i have no way of testing them
Hi,
my Idea is to use Bluetooth inside of Wifi to connect at home my Trinity on Internet sharing on my PC.
So I have a BT dongle which purpose an PAN network via bluetooth for my Trinity but when I want to enable this connection from my PC, it's not possible. From Trinity, I don't find where I can do it. It's like if the Trinity was not enable to create this type of connection.
Trinity: Faman WM6 4.03 fr
In the BT properties, where you can find which device is linked via BT, when I select my PC, I don't see the option PAN Network. WHY ?
I found the properties to configure the IP address of my bluetooth PAN.
PC: win XP Pro sp2
dongle BT: wirdcomm
So if someone can help me to create this network and to be always connected at home on Internet over BT without losing my battery in one day !
Thank's

Here is the basic connection scheme i'm trying to set up:
Internet--(1)->Modem--(2)->WiFi--(3)->Notebook PC--(4)->Bluetooth PAN--(5)->HTC Elf
The first three arrows in the scheme are working fine obviously. The problem starts at the fourth arrow. First let me explain why I want to use BT PAN between the notebook and the Elf.
It drains the battery less than WiFi does
I want to use GRemote, which requires an IP connection between PC and phone
I'm using windows mobile 6.5 on my HTC Elf and Windows 7 on my notebook PC. I have the toshiba bluetooth stack installed on my PC.
In the toshiba BT stack i have enabled the PAN network service, but when I try to connect to my PC from my phone, I only get the option to connect to the COM port service.
When I pair from the PC the following takes place:
Toshiba BT stack finds the phone
Toshiba BT stack lets me choose between PAN connection and dial-up networking
I choose PAN obviously and I get prompted for a passcode
I enter passcode on both sides of the connection
Toshiba BT stack displays a connection
Phone shows that bluetooth is on and in visible mode, but shows no sign of being connected.
Phone connects to GPRS if i try to surf the web (tried using Opera mini as well as IE)
GRemote can not find a server (server is running on PC and is detectable if i use WiFi to connect)
When I disable bluetooth on phone, my PC makes the 'hardware disconnected' sound and Toshiba BT stack no longer shows an active connection
On my PC I have bridged the PAN connection and my wireless network card.
I've read countless posts and followed an infinite amount of dead links and have not found a statisfactory solution yet. Please help me if you know how to set this up.
