Any compatible thumbpads for touch dual? - Touch Dual, MDA Touch Plus General

The only phone issued to my country is Touch.
As I used to use Hermes when I was in the states, I can't get the thought of using thumbpad outta my head.
And I am still almost about to throw my numberpaded phone whenever I type somethin in alphabet,
can I get any thumbpad compatible with Touch?

WoW, didn't know you could get a sim card with two providers on it. My friend got this knockoff iPhone a while ago. Was a really bad knockoff. So bad that the warning label on the back of the phone (where it stated that only apple can use THIS apple logo) was mispelt (lol) waring. Anways back to the original point, the cheap knockoff allowed you to put in two sim cards at once. I can't wait for someone to implement this feature into a windows phone so you can use 'em both at one time. Very useful for us canadians who don't want to shell out a thick wad of cash to use the internet, and would like to use a second sim card for a data connection.
hey
dont mean to thread jack, but can do the reverse? get 2 sim cards with the same info? i love my wing, but for work i need a regular phone. one that is simple, and able to make calls asap.. instead of unlocking, entering a pw and pressing the grn button and than fumbling with the touch screen.. for work i need to be able to flip the phone open with one hand and call emergency numbers as fast as possible, so for work i take my sim card out and put it in a reg tmo phone.. would love to be able to use both phone with 2 diff sims.
any 1 know if its possible?
i know its possible in the netherlands (also t mobile) here its called something like "sim duo" better ask your provider

Should be able to do it with no legal issues, I would think (if you're in the US).
Back in the day (12 - 15 years ago), phones were easily purchased with dual-nams (I had one from Motorola), which is how multiple phone numbers were assigned to a single device before the advent of SIM cards, device locking, long term contracts, etc.
You can get a dual-sim adapter from a couple of companies, but here's a link to one that has several types and lists their compatibility with various phones:
http://www.simore.ch/en/
I used a dual sim adapter briefly in a QTEK. It sucked.
If memory serves network locking is about to become illegal here in UK so I imagine dual sim kit will really take off here shortly.

change teh sim card possible?

Gentlemen / ladies
first off i would like to thank this site for all its help so far , i have installed colonels rom and i am delighted with it , however i have a small question.
i purchased the sprint mogul while visiting the states last week as i needed a pda and it seemed to fit all my desires , however upon bringing it home i noticed that there was no simcard slot so i cant use it here in Ireland (we seem to be a bit behind the times ) spoke to a rep here and i was told the simcard is inbuilt and it would need to go back to htc to be changed , now that isnt really feasible at the moment so i was wondering if it was possible for me to change it out or if that is even possible , i dont mind taking it apart but i can find no info on where the sim goes or if there even is one , sooooooo just wondering is it possible ?
thanks again for all the help i have recived from other threads on upgrading and thanks to the colonel for releasing a class rom
regards
To the best of my knowledge, CDMA phones don't use sim cards at all. I could be wrong.

Uh, for in Ireland you have a paperweight. There is no CDMA outside North America. There is no sim in the Mogul, and nothing in it can be reprogrammed to make it work on GSM. The entire radio portion of the phone is made for CDMA and specifically Sprint.
Sorry, but you'd be better off ebaying it and getting a GSM device.

To my knowledge, this statement isn't entirely true, as I believe that South Korea and maybe China has CDMA networks...but I could be wrong...
Everything else you stated is right on though!
Oh boy.
In a nutshell:
2 major types of wireless protocols:
GSM and CDMA.
GSM is a sim-card based allowing phone portability, and exists on a world-wide market. The sim card contains your identity, and switching it into another phone causes your identity to follow.
CDMA is phone-based, meaning every phone has a unique ID that broadcasts to the tower. That ID (sort of like the VIN number on a car) exists on only your phone, and represents your ID on the network. This actually existed long before GSM and SIM-cards, and is at a bit of a disadvantage because you can't switch phones whenver you want. Your provider has to switch it for you.
Here in the US, we have both CDMA and GSM networks now, however CDMA has been around longer, and so it is still arguably the more common technology. Lately, GSM has been catching up, but over in Europe GSM has always been around and CDMA is virtually non-existant.
Living in Ireland, I beleive that all networks are GSM, which means SIM-card based. So, you probably didn't know that there were other types of technology that weren't compatible! If anything, we here in the US are "behind the times" because we're still using an antiquated ID system as opposed to SIM cards!
HTC makes a GSM version of these devices as well, which you should consider. They are known as the Tytn and the Kaiser (our Mogul/Titan sort of comes in between, although most closely resembling the Kaiser in hardware). Next time you want to buy a phone in the US, make sure its GSM and unlocked first!
Hope this clears things up!
You should have 30 days to send back the mogul and get out of your contract. The phone will not work outside of North America. Take a look at the HTC Kaiser, its also sold as the AT&T Tilt. Its a GSM device that is very similar to the Mogul.
If you told Sprint that you were going to be going back to Ireland, I wonder why they didn't sell you the Samsung IP-830W, which works on the Sprint CDMA network in the states, but can be used on GSM/GPRS networks everyplace else.
If you can't get a full refund, maybe you can exchange the Mogul for that?
I think it's a little behind the times, but the IP830 is a pretty good phone and has a smaller slide out QWERTY keyboard.
thank you for the information , just need to find that damn receipt now and give radioshack a call , see about a swap for the tilt ,
regards
sigghhh
well it seems radioshack cant help . unless i brought it back to the store i purchased it in , and that cant really happen .
anywhoooo thanks all for the help ,
but i have just one other ,
is it possible to synq my titan with another type of phone i.e nokia 6610 and have the titan act as the handsfree ? via bluetooth?
basically like the satnavs where you have the dialer but it uses your phone to connect , seems like a strange request but this would at least allow me to use the phone features
thanks in advance

Where to buy Vogue ?

Hi,
I'm just wondering where you bought your vogue ? I live in Germany and I've never heard something like a htc vogue. There isn't one in ebay.de..
All I know is that there is a HTC Touch. But nothing else ?
Does it have another Name in Germany ?
Could the German Vogue also boot linux ?
HTC released the Touch, which is the official name, but was released in both CDMA and GSM models.
Vogue: CDMA
Elf: GSM
okay then, but is it possible to start linux like on the vogue, just on the touch ?
I really like the touch, maybe I'll get one..
It might work, not sure, check through the Linux thread.

flashing bell touch dual with bell touch kitchen roms

been searching for answers whether the bell touch dual can use the bell touch vogue roms?
Currently I have the bell touch and have been flashing my touch with various available roms.
Can we use the same bell vogue roms for the touch dual?
I had a Touch Dual, and tried flashing the OEM HTC Touch GPS ROM, and it didn't work. The ROM upgrade utility said that my device was incompatable. For all intents and purposes, they're the same phone, save for the keypad. But I guess the ROM is different enough to negate being able to cross-flash with the regular Touch. For this reason (and the cheaper data package), I exchanged my Dual for a Touch, and I hardly miss the keypad. Although I did prefer the dark grey/black colour scheme on the Dual.
Thanks MerkurMan....
I guess that it is it in a nutshell
1. no roms availability since most roms are for the touch vogue
2. bell mobility changes your $7 data plan to the $30 if you switch...
not worth the switch for just the keyboard......

use that area of site to get roms for the touch dual aka nike.
There is a reason each phone has its own section, roms are made for each phone. Touch Dual even though it appears the same the software that WE use on the Vogue wont work on it. Very similar options are available to you though so its not a big issue.

Phone on Shift!

Ok people, just wondering if there were any developments yet with using the Shift as a phone?
I know that you can do VoIP, and skype over Vista side on HSDPA, but I'm still interested in getting the WM side rigged to be used as a phone.
I noticed that if you start WM up without a sim card, it opens the phone with a "sim card not inserted" and a dialing pad, (upper highlight bar says "Phone), so I was kind of interested in that.
I'm thinking that we are missing some software on the phone to get this working.
