Brigthness not working. battery fast drain - 8125, K-JAM, P4300, MDA Vario General

Hello,
I'm having a problem with my wizard. From one moment to the other my battery started to go out in a couple of hours. Also I cannot change the brigthness of the screen (al least when i move the setting nothing changes on the screen) it seems it is stuck on the second level of brightness (just after no brightness setting).
I already reflashed the phone but same thing happens. Also hard-reset it.
Any ideas?

I have the same problem. Do the battery warm up to much when you try to recharge it?

Hello,
Yes it becomes warmer than usual. Do you have any ideas? I'll try to change for another rom. I'm using [02 Jun] WM 6.1 CE OS.19588 from Diamond - CLEAN *FAST!*

I don't think it's becouse of the ROM. I was using TNT for some months. Maybe it's something with hte battery. Also did you get it wet, ot drop it before that problem appeared?

Yes both things propably happen. i have a 2 year old son ...

I gave mine for examination, hope soon i'll know where is the problem, and that the repair won't be too expenisve. But i have the bad feeling it's something with the LCD (i hope i'm wrong)

BIG Problem after Upgrade to WM6

I make a ROM upgrade for WM6(1st versions) three week past.
Works for 2 days and after this, when i reset or turn ON, show the Rom versions numbers normaly and when it should enter in Mobile Windows, the screen distorts and they show some vertical lines.
I try reinstall the others ROM, but nothing.
What i do.
Thanks,
Fersoft
Wish I could help
Sounds like its been dropped or knocked. I've never heard of anything like this previously. I've been upgrading for years on all types of htc phones. I may be corrected but I do not see how a ROM can ruin your model in this way.
Have you got the original back up of the ROM that you started with?
I can olny enter in USB mode.
What ROM to RESERT completly my Pocketpc ?
Thanks any help.
Have you tried to flash an original ROM from the three color screen?
WM6 is the problem...
I got the same problem as you dude.... sounds like crossbow version isn't really suited for prophet. And I guess we'll get more and more of these troubles while more and more users are tested it (at least the first versions). I guess it has something to do with power management, and the way WM6 handles the battery. Mine got better after I flashed it back to WM5, but it still had the problem, and I had to send it back to warranty...
While you find a "solution", you can get it to work again for a few hours by letting it turned off for a few hours, battery out. That way I could flash it back to another rom. But still, after a few hours it would crash or reset itself, and you'll have to let it off without battery for a moment...
If an admin read this, I guess it could be VERY usefull to stick it to let people know they can arm their device that way.
Good luck
Amazing. I got exactly the same problem.
I am back to WM5, however, I still cant use the phone properly. After ten minutes into a phone call it crashes. When I reset I get until the OS loading screen (sometimes it even omits the radio rom number which usually comes between the SPL and OS). Then the screen distorts and thats it.
If I get the battery out for a short while and then connect it to the charger, I can restart the phone after 1-2 hours and it will load properly. However, again after 10 minutes into a phone call it crashes.
Any idea if a new battery would help, because I get more and more the feeling that something is actually wrong with the power/battery system.
Is WM6 even a final version?
I don't see any equipment running WM6 as of now, that's why i asked.
really? I don't think so.
However, every MS software still has a lot of a bug....
I have the same problem, but now even a bigger problem !
I have NO backup!
I don't know how to get it back to the original rom because mine freezes with the screen when the os version is in screen!
Damn, I only got the phone back for 4 hours because is was getting repared for a speaker failure.
and isn't that ironic..

Battery discharges very rapidly (20 min talk time)...

I have a IMate JasJam phone whose battery discharges very rapidly (20 min talk time). I have purchased a new battery as well but that does not seem to solve the problem.
What I wanted to ask the community are the following questions:
a. Can this be due to the radio version that I have? 1.43.00.00 - I have been using this radio for a 6 months now.
b. Can this be due to the charging unit in the phone being damaged? If so, is this replaceable?
c. I also read some threads suggesting buying like 3000 mAmph battery...rather than the standard 1500 mA. Is this really required?
d. Are there any other options to debug this problem?
Appreciate your responses...please help...
Does your phone also shut off for no apparent reason?
I had the same issue with the phone shutting off randomly as well. I took the phone apart and found the battery post was broke off the main board. I think the contacts being lose was also draining the battery or it could have been other things wrong as well. Bought a new phone and all was right again. I get 4 days standby with WM6 now.

No it does not shut-off automatically. However, I am tempted to find out if the batery connect (post) you suggest is lose or not. I remember dropping my phone a couple of times at least, maybe that caused it.
Buying a new phone is an option always, but unfortunately, I spent a lot of money when I bought this phone and would not like to junk it just yet...I am hoping someone here has other ideas that I can try out before giving up on this phone...
Anyways, thanks for your suggestions...
maybe its the rom you have installed that is causing the drain or maybe it is the radio ,is it cooked or a stock rom. If its cooked try flashing a stock rom and see if the battery issue is fixed

It's a Black Satin ROM that I flashed nearly a year ago...I have upgraded the Radio to 1.54.30.10. I was thinking of downloading Schap's WM6 ROM and updating it to that...do you suggest these being good ROM's or is there any other one that you suggest?
Thanks for your suggestion...

I have a feeling it could be that post if it all of a sudden started. I went radio/rom jumping for several weeks (and it isn't a bad idea to either reload a fresh rom or go back stock and check out your usage) and nothing helped. But it is a great way to narrow it down to device or software.
What to be prepared for though, if you do dig in your phone (assuming you have no warranty and are prepared to do do it), the case was the reason my post hadn't completely broke off. Once the case wasn't holding it on anymore it broke off completely. Make sure you have a backup phone to go to if you can't go without your phone. I even got cute with it and tried to solder the post back on. It lasted about 3 hours before it broke off again. lol

614c ****ed up.

My 614c is getting more and more ****ed up.
First it started out with that the battery meter always is 100%, so I have no idea when the battery is low. The phone won't charge when on unless i push the powerbutton to "sleep mode" or i turn the phone off.
Also the two buttons below the screen doesn't work and my scroll wheel(smart scroll) neither. Not sure if that happened before or after the battery meter problem.
To add to that the backlighting isn't working anymore either. I've tried new ROMs but it's the same problem on all of them.
This is my second 614c, first one the USB connection stopped working and it was replaced by HP.
And i don't think I'll get a new replacement phone again. My phone has a scratch on the screen and a few scratches on the shell from dropping it. I would need to reflash it to Swedish ROM too if i send it in, but I don't have the original rom anymore.
Anyone else had similar problems? And is it worth trying to get a replacement?
There have been members with battary issues but that seems to be fixed or at least improved with a replacement battary.
Have you tried flashing with another rom to see if the new rom you flashed with is the cause?
Considering the age of the phone now, i'd probally not get another one. Would look into the VGA screens, HW keyboards, Android maybe etc.
Thats said i'm very happy with mine and have had no issues with battary or hardware.
New ROMS from xda and especially Sergiorus has made it an excellent phone for me.
It's an old topic, but I recently had the same issue. Removing the battery solved the problem as long as I didn't put the phone in standby.
Good news is, after a factory recovery, the problem was solved, so other iPaq suffering from this problem aren't ready for the trash yet

After this you can flash a new rom.

do you have anything on the screen at all? or is the screen off as well?
try to be more specific please if you want to fix the problem:
What rom were you trying to flash?
do you have hardspl?
are you an experienced user or a novice?
was the battery fully charged?
did it flash completely and give you a message telling you it was successful?
is anything coming on at all?
is it under warranty still?
if you supply at least this information you will have a better chance that someone can help you fux it fast.
best of luck.
Venigo Thank u for your reply I tried this and tried many things before post ,no response.
bally3 Thank u for your reply I'll try to be more specific:
This happened after I flashed new Parcvello extreme rom.
I had a hard spl
I'm an experienced user
The battery was not fully charged and after flashing the rom I opened my polaris and it worked for 3 minutes after that it died.
No thing is coming at all
The warrenty period finished 6 months back
Thank u for your wiching best luck

My first advice is to try another battery. I cant see it being rom or flash related though its quite possible its hardware related and would need service centre attention.
Try a new battery. since you say nothing is coming on at all, I take it theres no power at all to it. You can try another battery or ask someone to test the battery for you using a meter to see if theres any charge in the battery itself.
When you say not fully charged I hope you mean like 40% and not 20% before flashing.
Did you get through all the setup before it crashed? Not that important but just trying to get a picture of what was happening when it went off.
if all else fails if you got it on contract you could ring them and ask them to look at it. If it isnt on contract then might be worth biting the bullet and seeing how much a repair centre would charge to fix it. You should at least be able to get a free estimate.
it can't be the battery, since the phone can work via the net with the battery out, even if the phone is off.

You are responsible of wasting 3 minutes of my life testing your theory...
Polaris wont work without battery as i predicted...at least mine wont...
So the battery might still be a possibility as mentioned above...
I dont see any other possibility beyond hardware failure.I tested all PCarvalho´s xtreme ROM´s and never had problems beyond software issues and he flashed the ROM and it was ok for 3 minutes as he said...at least bootloader would kick in.
Thank u all for your reply : I didn't mention that PCarvalho 's Rom is the cause I'm sure it isn't.
My second step is changing the battery and I 'll till you about the progress.
Still the same proplem after i tested the battery which is charged
in that case its a repair centre job then unfortunately...sorry to say.
Do any body knows where is the HTC repair centre in Cairo,Egypt
actually i had a similar problem. polaris totaly dead. then i discovered, that the sim slot thingy didn't "click in" properly. that solved my problem.

[FIX] Crazy colors (Yellow/Blue) on LCD

Hi all!
I've seen some guys here with my same problem: the HTC HD2 started to show wrong colors, yellowish display with blue stripes.
Mine started to have this problem when I've dropped it: first it was a temporary problem, pressing on the display would fix it for some hours, but then it became like PERMANENT... and my HD2 isn't over warranty anymore.
So, I've started to search and I've found many ppl with this problem.. I was about to buy another HTC HD2 but luckily mine was temporairily fixed for another time.. and UNTOUCHABLE!
Prior to the last temporary fix I've opened it to see if it was a wrong connection of the flex cable, but nothing.. it _really is_ a mainboard problem, maybe a broken connection of a point
Anyway, when it was temporairily fixed I thinked: well, it is already ****ed, I can only try my last chance...refluxing... so... this is what I've done:
1. Android booted
2. HTC HD2 on the bed, rolled in my duvet
3. Activated a native stability test using my CPU at 100%
4. Waited for 20 mins, my HD2 reached 54°C
5. Another minute at 54°C...
6. Okay, connections should have been refluxed..
7. Stop the benchmark, shutdown the device
8. After some hours I've taken it, and the display was okay.
I've made this 2 days ago and my display seems to be permanently fixed.
NOTE: This procedure is really risky: you've got a lithium battery in your device that MAY explode! Don't be a fool like me and don't make this thing on your bed!
Hope this helps someone
Does it still fix the issue after 10 days? If it does, I'm gonna try to do the same tomorrow.
Other people who have already tried this?
Greetz, and thanks for sharing the info
I have android installed now, but I don't know which application to use to run a cpu stress test. Which one did you use?
Thanks in advance.
Greetz
