Got Wizard with broken screen. Anyone knows the fastest way of transferring saved information, such as contacts, e-mail addresses etc from one Wizard to another? Say, can I Active Sync it and save files on miniSD? Can't do much with a broken screen and have no intentions of replacing the screen, as have new Wizard already.
Well, if it's just the screen you can try soti pocket controller. It gives you total control of your ppc screen on your computer.
i'm working on JTAG development for wizard..and i'm willing to buy your wizard for the motherboard...if you agree i will transfer you data after the wizard is here through mail or instant messaging...please help this forum...we really need JTAG for wizard

Not looking to sell - doing repairs, so keeping for parts. Might install a new screen at some point, so need the info off it only. Sorry.
Soti's did the trick, the main thing was to install it onto a device with a broken screen, but it is one amazing program - LOVE IT.
Thank You so much, really appreciate it.

I just got my 8125 last night and love it so far. I am coming fro a Treo 650 and have a lot of contacts. I was wondering if there was a way to transfer my contacts from my Treo 650 to my new 8125?
If there are any must have programs I would appreciate some pointing in the right direction.
Thanks
Well a great start is going to http://wiki.xda-developers.com/ it is a great place to get some info. Look here for some must have tools http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=Must_have_tools. As for contacts have a look here http://www.mobiletechreview.com/tips/palm_to_PPC_and_back.htm it says how to do it. Hope this helps and good luck with you 8125.
Thanks for the reply PPCNUT. I read the article about transferring my PIM info from my Treo 650 to my 8125. I kind of really don't like OUtlook at all. I use Eudora on my laptop and Snappermail for my Treo. Is there some other way I can get that info transferred onto my 8125? And yes...I do realize that I am being insane...I don't want this to be a deal breaker for me.
Thanks
I have seen exactly the program you need it is a sync program and it will sync all devices WM, Palm etc and it allows the use of most e-mail programs. I think it may cost $29.99 but it will work with the e-mail client you have got. I will try and find the link and I will post it here.
http://www.sync.com
Costs $70.00 but there is a downloadable trial. For a once time thing it would be worth downloading the trial.
Thanks for the combined help with getting my contacts transferred.
It worked like a charm... I was wondering though as to what PPCNUT said. I think you said that I can use Snappermail with WM5. Is that correct or am I just getting a little too excited?
It looks like all my contacts, memos, tasks etc...came throuhg without any problems. Thanks a lot...I was getting a little worried that I wasn't going to be able to transfer everything.
I am using Pocket Informant. Am I correct in saying that this program is going to be a replacement for Palm Desktop? If it is great. I was wondering if it has the same feature like Palm Desktop where I can type information in the program on my laptop say for example a new contact with all there info and then sync my 8125 and have the info transfer with a hitch?
If this can do it great. If not could you point me to the "right" program?
What about an e-mail solution and threaded sms messaging?
Sorry to be a pain, but I am trying to load my 8125 up with the "right" stuff so the transition won't kill me.
I felt A LITTLE lost today.
Well I am not to sure whether you would be able to use Snappermail with WM5 as I am very much a Windows user and I don't know much about any thing out of Windows and on the e-mail front I use Outlook so I am not to sure. Sorry.
My LCD broke on my Wizard (8125). There were a few saved SMS messages
with some inportant information in them as well as a few that were unread.
Other than the LCD the phone works fine - I'm using the internet sharing from
it now to write this post ( I mapped it to a button before the screen broke so
that I could get to i quickly to get me laptop online when out an about.)
What I want to know is this: Is there a way to retrieve those saved and
unread SMS messages using my WinXP PC and Active Sync, or any other app
that I can run from the PC itself since I can't see anything on the device?
Anyhelp would be much appreciated. Oh its a G3 unlocked device running
the 3.3 AKU that lead to the ROM archive being taken down if that helps.
I think a program called Jeyo Mobile (or something similar) does that. I havent used it, but I'm sure I read about it somewhere.
You could also try to use a remote desktop application such as SOTI's Pocket Controler which lets you use your PDA on the desktop like you would use the real one ...
http://www.soti.net/default.asp?Cmd=Products&SubCmd=PCPro
i have used both Jeyo and Soti, and they both work really well.. but the one problem with Soti is that you need to install it on the phone before it can be used. if you have some type of software to take a screenshot of the phone, that may work too. good luck

damn
wellyou can. just go contact by contact and click menu, save to sim.
if you're upgrading to a different ppc, let me know, for that you can use a SIM Backup utility.
Unfortunately I may well be moving away from the Windows Mobile scene. I always used to use it because of work, keeping my diary up to date, contacts, etc... but started a new job and they use NOVELL GROUPWISE as their mail client so unfortunately my phone/PPC is half of what it used to be
Not quite sure what phone I want yet so just need to get my contacts onto my SIM card.
Then you better backup to Outlook (using ActiveSync).
Many phones now provide Outlook synchronization.
I agree, for better or worse Outlook is about the only way when moving to another platform, if in fact that platform will sync to Outlook. But even then it's not always clean, or comprehensive. Good luck!
Use sim manager
thank you very much
6.5
This software doesn't work on my Windows Mobile 6.5?
sim to phone

The screen of the phone is only cracked physically as it is still there for the operating system. Therefore just install a program on your computer called MyMobiler which emulates de phone on your pc. Just plug the phone via usb and it should instal automatically.
Anoter Solution could be Jeyo Mobile Companion, if Active Sync still works.
With that Program you can import and export all important Data from your mobile. Just connect it via USB or a cradle and you are ready.
Same way for restoring the contacts, etc. to your working TYTN

tnx, but my phone is asking for the pincode, and i can't press, the screen is not functioning.
Sounds like your digitizer has gone bad. Mine did the same thing and I lost some data as I didn't have a way to initiate the backup with pressing things on the device.
I am curious to to any backup solution that can copy the image or data initiated from the computer only.
Do you have Sync setup with your mail? I know you can start sync that way from your computer?
are you able to get an activesync connection? You may be able to copy your contacts by syncing your outlook contacts
EDIT: there are alternatives for mymobiler, there's a thread about them here. There may be another app that will work without having to press the screen
unfortunately my active sync doesn't work either, my phone is asking the pincode, i am sending it today to belgium where it hopefully will be fixed under warranty.
tnx everyone for your time.
