if you are connected to the edge network and have no incoming or outgoing traffic, do you still get billed per kb/min for being connected? I logged off MSN and closed my data session but for some reason it reconnected without me knowing. I fixed the problem afterwards but my phone was connected for awhile without me knowing.
Thanks!

I don't have the Vox yet (I'm an idiot for ordering it right before a freaking holiday) so I'm not sure if this already happens or not but...
Say for instance I'm connected to the internet/aim/whatever through wifi. However, I end up moving too far away from the hotspot and end up dropping the signal. When this happens, is there a way to make the GPRS automatically come in and replace the connection? Is that within the settings of WM6 or is there an app that does this? Can it even be done if it hasn't already?
it happens automatically to me
if the wifi connection is so slow or weak it starts to connect to gprs which actually annoys me
MMM
When I configure automatic connection trough GPRS, the phone connects via GPRS, even if a Wi-Fi connection is present. Ther should be a way to prevent usage of GPRS when connected trough wi-fi. Anyone knows how to do it?
Hey guys, I have the ATT 8525 with no data plan. I would like to know if there is a way to block my phone from accessing the ATT data network. If I want to use the internet and so forth I will do it over wifi, I just want to make sure my phone won't access the ATT data network by accident.
Thanks!
Just call Customer Service and tell them you want to request WIX Blocked.
I believe MoDaCo's NoData will do the trick..
Shuts down the data connection but wifi is still available. Made for people going overseas and such without an international data plan.
I'll post it here when I find it...
edit: attached!!
Thanks buddy.. I was also looking for something similiar.
I have a question for you!!
My problem was almost the same. I have my MMS settings and when I activate that in the Connections tab as the connection to connect to the internet inorder to receive or send MMS, then if I try to access my inbox it checks through the data connection eventhough my WiFi is active...
So will the cab file that was posted here blocks the MMS?
Thanks
Jish
yes it stops your phone from acessing any grps or edge networks. i personally just removed the grps account settngs
Unless your provider has some redirect to email feature or whatever, MMS can't be transferred via internet. They need a direct connection to the provider's servers.

if you are billed per kb, you shouldn't be billed
if you are billed per min, you should be billed
Is it possible to maintain a data connection and phone connection at the same time?
Currently, if my phone is connected to the internet through an HSDPA data connection, the connection is dropped when I receive a phone call over 3G.
I use my niki's HSDPA connection (FarEastTone in Taiwan) for connecting to the 'net on my home PC, but it is also my primary phone so I would like to be able to keep the internet connection alive when receiving or making calls.
Any ideas?
Thanks
EDIT: It appears to be holding the connection now, so I can stay online and talk on the phone at the same time, but it kept disconnecting last night. Here's hoping it lasts.
Ok, So I was impressed to see my new Vodafone UK S5 has an option under settings > call for Internet Calling.
This registers perfectly on my voip server, and most of the time calls work just fine.
The really annoying issue I have come across though is when your connection is less than perfect.
I have all power management options disabled, Download booster and Smart network switch are enabled.
Sometimes It seems the following happens...
Phone has 3/4G or wifi, VOIP account registers and recieves calls.
You then lose both wifi and 3/4g connectivity, even just briefly.
The voip account gets logged out, as would be expected.
You restore 3/4g or wifi connectivity.
VOIP calls no longer work.
Upon going back into Settings > Call > Internet Calling > Accounts,
This is displayed:
"[email protected]
Primary account. Still trying..."
While connected to wifi I have done a TCP dump, as well as from my VOIP server to analyse all traffic, and I can confirm that despite the message, the phone is NOT Still trying to connect. Literally NO traffic is being sent by the phone, or recieved by the SIP server.
To regain VOIP connection, you simply tap on the account to open the settings page, and immediately hit back.
"Saving account..." appears, and instantly the phone re-registers on the VOIP server.
My VOIP account is configured as transport type: TCP, and Send Keepalive: Always send.
My question is, Without rooting the device, How I can I make the phone try to reconnect more aggressively when the internet connection is back up.
I expect the phone to reconnect within 30 seconds of having a working internet connection, without needing to go through the process above.
Any suggestions?
