Opera Mobile Plugins - Windows Mobile Development and Hacking General

I will be much appreciated if anyone has information on writing plugins for Opera Mobile. From the link below of Opera's site:
http://dev.opera.com/articles/view/the-opera-plug-in-interface/
I have built a dll for based on the API mentioned in the article and I have modified Opera Mobile's plugins path but it never get initiated at all. I start to wonder it it is doable or Opera Mobile just simply does not support this kind of plugins contrary to information provided in the link, which clearly stated that is support mobile phone. Thanks in advance for any information that could shed light on this issue.

Any Alternate Browsers?

As the subject says are there any alternate browsers available ?
Ive checked Mozilla web site and they dont seem to cater for mobile devices. Opera has a version available for smartphones but not PPC
So has anyone any alternatives to suggest ? I loathe IE, its dead and buried on all my PC's and would love to replace it on my phone.
Unless of course some enterprising soul has found a way of porting Linux on to the phone
RE
Of course, search the net and you can find either Netfront or the upcoming Opera.
But why deplete your precious memory when IE is available? The installation of an alternate browser is good unless you are able to totally remove IE so as to recover the memory.
I'm happy using IE for my browsing.
Well, if you're looking for free browsers, you can try MiniMoCE which is short for Mini Mozilla CE.
Version 0.008 is out here...
http://weblogs.mozillazine.org/dougt/archives/008751.html
Thanx for the tips, will have a play with these
Opera is available for PPC when you install it with the Midi Applet on your PPC, check this thread for info on installing: http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=27138&start=50
Thunderhawk might be the best but also most expensive browser for PPCs. It has periodic costs for its use and supports full scaling of internet pages through a proxy.

Can anyone make Picsel Viewer on Treo 700w work on non-Treo?

ftp://xda:[email protected]/General/picselifv_treo700w.CAB
The CAB file for Picsel PDF Viewer is available on the above link, but when I run it on my XV6700, it says that it's an unsupported device and exits. It opens in full QVGA, so it's not just designed for the square screen, so I figure it's looking for a registry entry or hardware ID to determine if it's being run on a Treo 700w.
Can anyone make it run properly on a non-Treo 700w device?
Can anyone provide a virgin registry dump of a Treo 700w?
If you've ever seen the Picsel software in action, you'll know it to be a good piece of software. Why they don't sell it normally on Handango or PocketGear is beyond me.
Thanks in advance.
Can anyone look into this please?!? :?
Hey,
the app looks very neat. i did try disassembling it and looking for the error string however the string is in resources and not in data section or it would've been easier.
i'll look further if I get time tomorrow.
one question, does this app also load html pages or work as a full web browser?
I believe the Samsung i730 has something called the Picsel Browser. I don't know if it's a different name, but I think it can load HTML pages as well as PDF.
Can anyone grab that off the i730 ROM, or is it on an accompanying CD?
Picsel Viewer for non Treo Windows Mobile Devices...
I am very interested to know if anyone managed to get Picsel Viewer - which btw is an incredible application - running on a Windows Mobile device other then the Treo and the few others that it came preinstalled on
Dying to get this as well. Picsel beats all other PDF readers hands down. Above link also no longer works.
FWIW: I'd work on the new version that was recently released with the 700W MSFP patch as this fixes the memory allocation error that plagued the original version. This may be available as a separate download from Palm, but I'm not sure of this.

WM5, PIE and Java Plugins, is this my best choice >

Firstly Java plugin for Wm5/PIE..is this my only choice, do you guys have it : http://www.nsicom.com/Default.aspx?tabid=138
Q: How come desktop version if free ( via SUN), and pocket pc is not ??
What about PIE/WM5 plugins for Macromedia and other internet browser tools. ? Is there a list of the usual suspect of WM5 /PIE plugins some where ?
thanks.
It works fine, but the only real application I would really need Java is a webmail using classes not included in this.
I already used jeode, same results.
It's here:
http://www.cs.unc.edu/~lindsey/7ds/notes/jeode/
Waiting for Netront 3.3, the full version should mount also a Java plugin.
It's still in beta on their website.
Thanks for the link, but I cant find any link to download the file, please advise.
Standard web browser plugins required are : java, adobe, macromedia.
I went to Net Front website, but there is no conformation that it works on WM5 or HTC Universal products.
If I'm not wrong, Jeode was an Insignia product (www.insignia.com) and now it's Esmertec.
You can buy it at handango:
http://www.handango.com/PlatformPro...atalog=30&txtSearch=Esmertec&pc=list[1]_title
Please read also customers' comments here:
http://compaq.handango.com/Platform...Type=2&productId=48776&sectionId=0&catalog=30
About Netfront, search on this forum. It definitely works, you can download a trial version here:
http://nfppc.access.co.jp/english/about_v33.html
at the bottom of the page.
It's a trial, and Java isn't yet available, but it will be in the commercial version (it should be delivered soon).

pieplus and java supported browsers

Anyone know if pieplus can access website with java scripts? Or is there something I can add to the IE to make it work on website with java scripts imbedded into them?
I tried the opera browser and it does load java script but I don't like how it strip everything ie the font size or re-arrange the text on the browser so I would prefer using IE browser or any browser simlar to IE look and feel.
Any recommandations?
Thanks
Bill
Found Netfront 3.3 tonight and played with the trial version but it states does not have java support in trial however it seem not to be css style sheet supported.
Can anyone using Netfront tell me how the java works on it and is there a setting to force it to use css from website?
So far it look like i am stuck with Opera unless there more out there to try.
Bill
Please do follow my Web browsing-related articles, I've answered all these questions you've asked. They're available in both the General forum here and on my blog.

THX again for the Info mugglesquop, I was asking about Opera, because the anounncing from Opera Turbo is everywhere around, i supose maybe some insider around xda-dev dispose of that files. Did you saw the new feature of Diamond 2 faster internet surfing? well, here is the answer.
Opera unveils turbo-charged browsing at Mobile World Congress 2009
Oslo, Norway and Barcelona, Spain – February 12, 2009
Just when you thought browsing couldn't get any faster, Opera unveils its latest innovation for better browsing, Opera Turbo. This all-new, turbo-charged way to surf will make its exclusive appearance at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona from February 16-19, 2009.
To be available for business customers on Opera Desktop, Opera Mobile and Opera Devices SDK, Opera Turbo compresses bandwidth consumption. By processing data being sent to a mobile phone or a PC by up to 80 percent, operators will be able to reduce network traffic and save on data transmissions. This helps to extend the longevity of their mobile network investments. For device manufacturers, Opera Turbo provides a faster browsing application that can leverage device capabilities and utilize hardware resources more effectively. By leveraging Opera Turbo, operators and OEMs can provide a faster browsing experience to their end-users, independent of network constraints or hardware limitations.
Due to Opera Turbo's advanced compression technology, even devices with limited hardware capabilities show improved page download rates and better overall performance. By leveraging its experience with server-side optimization solutions such as Opera Mini, Opera Software is extending optimization to encompass other Opera browser products. Opera Turbo is able to reduce the size of the transferred page without transcoding the page. Opera Turbo offers full support for dynamic Web technologies such as Ajax and Flash - these are not compressed by Opera Turbo.
Opera Turbo supports Opera's belief in "One Web", providing equal access to the Internet regardless of the device or network quality. Opera has focused on a way to improve performance and the overall speed of its browser under any condition, whether surfing from a limited mobile phone in a remote location or with an early model desktop computer on a dial-up modem. To Opera, One Web means being able to take the one true Web and make it available to people on their own terms. Opera believes that circumstances should not dictate how its browser performs, and Opera Turbo is a way to ensure the best browsing possible anytime, anywhere.
"We are living in a time and place where access to the Web should be a universal right to all. Technology has advanced us to the point that we can very nearly access the Internet anytime and anywhere from a growing number of devices," said Jon von Tetzchner, CEO, Opera Software. "As part of Opera's commitment to provide the best experience on any device, Opera has developed the Opera Turbo solution. The Mobile World Congress serves as a forum for us to educate others on the wonders of Web technology."
See it to believe it at Opera's Mobile World Congress exhibit (Hall 2, Stand 2B77). Mobile World Congress participants will also have the ability to experience Opera on a variety of devices: Opera Mobile on smartphones such as HTC HD, Samsung Omnia and Sony Ericsson Xperia, free downloads of Opera Mini, improved Web browsing on gaming consoles and the ARCHOS Generation 5 Media players will be just a few of the exciting features of Opera's 2009 exhibit.
Mobile World Congress will be held from 16th to 19th February in 2009 in Barcelona, Spain. Visit the Opera Booth in Hall 2, 2B77. For media inquiries, please contact [email protected]
