Hi,
Today, my Uni suddenly turned off. When I started it again, it displayed the first splash screen, then changed to the second one and didn't go any further. I can turn the display of using the on/off button, but when I turn it back on, it only displays the second splash screen again.
Now I found this topic ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=259003 ), but I am not really sure, whether it adresses my issue or a different one (being stuck in bootloader mode, not on splash screen). I will probably read through it tomorrow (don't have much time now), but if someone could at least tell me whether it might help me solve my problem or give me a solution directly, it would be awesome. Oh and btw, is there any chance of saving my data from the device?
Thanks a lot!

Hey everyone,
Firstly this is my first post and so I am not quite sure whether I am posting in the right place. Accept my apologies if I have made a mistake. I own a Htc Tytn which I purchased this January 2007. I read in several forums that some users are experiencing certain problems with the device like screen allignment etc. I was very glad to find out thart my device was a very stable one. Surprisingly it never froze. I did perform some soft resets at times just to ensure everything stays all right. I also did not have any keyboard or allighnment issue. Today when I was speaking on the phone suddenly my Tytn shut down. When I restarted it the screen went white. Firstly I tried performing a soft reset which didn't work and then a hard reset which didn't work as well. Then i thought of entering the bootloader mode so that I can install the ROM again but it wouldn't go into the boot loader mode ( I did press the right sequence of buttons for the hard, soft reset and for entering bootloader mode). Even the htc logo doesn't appear. Whenever the power button is pressed the screen goes white. Also whenever I tried the different reset and tried entering bootloader mode the screen went white as well. My device had almost full charge when this happened. Also one more thing, as the screen goes white the green button( send/ receive)button blinks( weird!!!!) but the red button is not lit and doesn't blink at all. Lastly I think I have made it clear that I was not trying to upgrade the ROM or anything when this disaster happened. I WOULD reaaallly appreciate if somebody could help me sort this problem out with my Tytn before I am forced to send this device back to HTC for repair( which I don't want to). Thanks everyone.
Check the TyTn Wiki:

There's a section in there on the solid white screen, phone doesn't boot. I think it's in the "Common Upgrade Problems" section but the advice there may be applicable to your situation. Good luck!
Hey I was wondering if anyone could help
I recently spent ALL my money on an SPV M3100, with the good help from this site I got it unlocked, installed hard SPL and flashed the latest HTC WM6 ROM to it.
Everything was going swimmingly until I installed a SIM for the first time. As soon as I activated the phone and the settings were updated to Vodafone Australia the screen went white (you can just about make out the icons at the right angle, but very faint).
My first thought was that the HTC ROM was causing the problem so I changed to Schaps 4.31. However that's when I discovered it's the SIM that's causing the trouble.
The screen works fine with no SIM, but insert the SIM and update the settings and I get a blank screen.
Would be majorly grateful for any advice.
Many thanks,
Al.
b****ks I don't think it is a SIM issue as it's just happened with no SIM!
However it does seem to happen every time the handset goes into sleep mode. It loads up fine EVERY time, but when I retreive from sleep mode there's a white out!

That happend to my Hermes before. After turning on the screen, it would sometimes fade to white or just go white with a button press. It wasn't too bad at first then it got worse. I ended up sending mine in to ATT for a repair, so I know thats not much help, but it maybe your only option if its a hardware issue....
no worries - I appreciate your advice, just out of curiosity though, was it expensive to repair (i.e. almost the cost of getting a new one!).
I've removed sleep mode from the settings, dimmed the screen and set the backlight to cut out after only a few seconds and it's been absolutely fine for the last 24 hours everything else seems to work fine, it's just coming out of sleep that causes the problem.
Blank White Screen - Power Saving Mode
I have the same problem, but it started to occur after the upgrade to wm6.1. When I try to return the power saving mode, the display does not work. He stay in a blank white screen, but all other functions of the unit still running. After a reset it back to normal. The problem of how to disable the power saving mode is the small time of battery life. Anybody got any solution?
Not sure if this is a battery related issue as I removed the cover and battery to put another SIM in to find out it's no. Since putting the battery and cover back on I get the splash screen for the ROM I'm running (Diamond), then the HTC annimation then it reboots. It will also only get that far when the power is connected - otherwise it won't even start to switch on.
Any ideas? Also is there a way to reflash as I don't want to send it back to the provider with a non-standard ROM.
Any help much appreciated.
A bit more information - if I leave the charger plugged in it just loops round and round with the splash screen and the HTC animation.
Maybe this will help..

I had this on my first polaris it did it on the 1st day so i returned it and got a new one... Couldn't hard reset either...
Try going to the bootloader manually and flashing a new rom following the instructions that are repeated over and over in these forums
Thanks for responses - it's working fine again now. I think one of the battery contacts may be faulty as it wouldn't run without the charger until I pressed them in and then re-inserted the battery.
Want either hard reset or go into boothloader
Hello, my polaris has stopped responding when I touch the screen, it is locked and the only thing that is working is reset, and after reset the screen is locked. It do`nt respond on hard reset or wìll not go into boot loader. On service they say there is now garanti(I understand) because I use a rom from XDA. Is there any way to get it into boothloader or hardreset, exept from the usual ways? or do I simply have to throw the hole thing?
I can reciew phone calls.
Hey guys, I jsu bought a used G1, since I needed a phone because I've started developing apps for android. Anyhow, since I don't have much money I had to buy a used one.
So this one has a (quite big) problem - when the screen is on the keyboard (normal position) the screen turns off. You can see the backlight, but nothing else. When the screen is slid out, it works perfectly fine.
Any idea what the problem may be?

It can be a problem with the ROM also can be a hardware problem.. Try another ROM first and report back.
I tried more than 3 roms, still does the same.
I also filmed how it turns itself off:

Forgive me for stating the obvious, but have you tried wiping?
Yup, more than once.
At this point, if it was my phone, I'd consider breaking out a screwdriver set and try to see if something came loose or is worn.
Well now it's not working at all.
Not even when the screen is slid out.
And I don't have the required screws to open it... Guess I'll have to buy them somewhere :/
EDIT:
This is weird.. I somehow managed to turn it on, but now it's stuck on a black screen with "Build: " at the bottom of it...
EDIT2:
And now when I rebooted it, only the backlight turns on...
EDIT3:
When I turn it on regularly, the T-Mobile G1 screen appears and then disappears. You can still see the backlight, but nothing else happens.
When I turn it on to recovery mode, the G1 screen appears, then disppaears and then you can see a black screen with "Build: " at the bottom.
EDIT4:
Apparently, when I start it regularly, it does boot into Android, but it's like stuck.. Seems like it's kinda bricked? No idea.
EDIT5:
Is it possible to reinstall the ROM without having access to the recovery menu?

Getting a set of screwdrivers/torx/etc is a good idea. I picked mine up on eBay awhile back. An investment every techy guy should make.
It also sounds like you may want to get acquainted with adb and particularly fastboot. You *should* be able to use fastboot to get a working recovery and then use the recovery to get a rom loaded. This: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=532719 seems like a decent guide to get you going with what you need if it is in fact a software issue.
Since your experience keeps deteriorating, I'm beginning to wonder if a chip inside is going bad - especially with the odd things like "Build: " showing up. (Let's hope this is not the case!) Nevertheless, I think I'd start with fastboot and go from there. Good luck.
Thanks a lot, ill try it as soon as I get home.

EDIT1:
What the hell? All I did was delete the recovery (didn't even install a new one, kept on saying it's missing the file, even though I did move it using adb push) and now suddenly Android works normally.
EDIT2:
Well now it's stuck again, just like before deleting the recovery...
I'll try to reflash the recovery and then see what happens.
FIrst of all, sorry for the thread, but I`ve been searching all over night to find a topic with a solution. So I was with using my phone normally (with a GE ROM and a diferent kernel), then suddenly the screen went out. I flashed everything back to stock, the phone didn`t boot up one single time. So I came up with a post in wich a guy said his phone does enter in recovery mode, but he was not able to see the screen. Searching the youtube, looking to a video I was able to perform a Factory wipe and the phone does boot (with sound and the capacitive button`s lights!). However, the screen remained blank, black.
Can someone help me? It has to do with the motherboard? Before going blank, the screen showed some white lines and other coloured strips, with some kind of interference. Any ideas?

could possibly be a dud screen, happened to work colleague, got it fixed under warranty, it just randomly died, had the same symptoms. can hear sound but no picture. they just put a new screen on.
