In case you guys wanted to try it...after liberating your device, you can connect WM & Vista then run MyMobiler on the two sides so you don`t have switch back and forth...yes I know the button is right there... . This is a cool and free util I run on my Athena and thought it would be cool on the Shift.
Ill give it a go once I get my shift.

waw !!! really nice.. just tested on my Touch.. and it works so well :O I'm impressed !
when I was at the Microsoft's conference, I have seen the Windows Mobile stand using an application like that but they refused to give me it... they said "it is just for internal developers".... and I didn't know that there were a public app to do this !
can someone test it with the shift? I'd like to know if it is working and how well does it work... I will have to play for about 4 years on the shift.. so every pratical features like that is important for me

I gave it a quick try but I think that the program cannot handle realvga very well. I have problems seeing the full WM screen in 800x480 mode. There seems also to be a problem to maximize the window because it zooms to 200% and I only can see a fraction of the WM screen. I had to cancel it by alt+F4. It seems also very slow so I don't see much use of it on my Shift. But thanks anyway, its always worth trying.

It would be great cuz Im not so happy with WM5
typical, get shafted by HP again.... shell out close to half a grand on a device you expect that youll get some decent support with it and not for it to become obsolete quite this quickly....
Hp need to stop doing things like this, if the upgrade doesnt come about for the hw6915 its twice that they have done me soon after buying a new device from them.
Whats the score on an unoffical upgrade? The SIP/VoIP functionality for this device is just too good not to have (being a fully paid up vonage /vonage softphone user)

Well, dont agree here...
6915 is far best pda i owned... stable, works nice, keyboard is great, everything works as it should just need to customise it...
the plastic is ok until you start to drop it on the floor...
official WM6 will never be on this phone, wait for another 6XXX release with WM6 if you want it so badly...

the diference between a Palm operating system and a similar win is huge. never have to close manually aplications that use memory for nothing, avery couples of days i have to reset it. i admint i use it a lot, because is my phone, my navigation, my agenda, my everything. but is not an escuse...

You are saying that you find WM unreliable due to the fact you are not familiar with a 3prt app to close running program when tapping on the O.K. (try SPB PLUS it will fill like palm)
WM by default enable you to minimize and you can run thins in the background
Let's say you want to copy/compare info from a note to your contacts list
You just SW between the apps (there are a lot of uses for running things in background)
Maybe you prefer learning every time a new OS when there is a new device?
The grate thing with WM is that all the things you are used to on your home pc you perform on mobile with the same approach
You just need to replace the mouse right click with tap & hold and left click with a tap
Remember that the default is minimize and if you want to close app you tap on your virtual keyboard CTL then tap on Q

you must try to install different programs, due to the poor memory of the wm side i did not try to install many programs.
opera works fine like on my kaiser, office too, some little game and sprite backup, spbackup, profimail also works well like on the kaiser. others i don't know.

the shift has a larger screen but the software does not have to be rewritten for smaller or larger screens.

I read all the rom reviews and still cant decide. I want a rom that has a nice look to it, mabey a diamond 6.1 rom that has touch flo, office, tmobile settings, windows mobile 6.1, good amount of memory, and a good task manger. There could also be a few other cool features cause memory is not an issue. But looks are very important. I am a student so I need office mobile. Any comments would be greatly apperciated! thank you
First off all, Try hitting the Enter button. It's a large button on your keyboard.
And if you want a good rom with your needs, Try Open Touch V5.0.
Looks good, Has Office, Good Task Manager.
I definetly recommend that one.

If you are looking for the diamond look, I think the new Open Touch v 6.0 will have it...just have to wait for it to be released from ttran.
I have been having this problem for quite some time, i use the spb mobile shell panel... yet when i get a call or run any app and exit i get put back onto the regular home screen, Is there any workaround for this ?

Curious behaviour, this ner happened to me...

yes i have tried a hard reset... im on jack's 1.08 rom
eyup boinger, glad to see youve got a proper phone now screen size is still a bit of a shock after the athena though...
are you running a task manager, cos ive noticed the panels seem to autoclose when not focussed when using using htc taskmanager.
using wktask you can see the panel running in the background still.
i have noticed this using nearly all of the custom roms
Yea i actually found it out when i was out today, it annoyed me to all hell so i just thought it might have something to do with my taskmanager (im using wisbar) i disabled the close on it and it seems to be working fine so far...
Ya i miss the screen on the athena, but im gonna wait for wm7 before my next major upgrade... will prob go back to something with a larger screen, how are you liking the xperia ?

I love it, but snap I'd be happier going back to a bigger screen, I'm using my athena as a webbrowser around the house
Performancewise I think the x1 is the best so far, the form factor is wrong though.
I'd love to have a rehash of a Uni with a 4" screen..

ok 1st what resolution is ur touch HD
2nd did the phone come with windows mobile 6.5 reason I ask is that ROM model is mostly on newer pocket pc
3rd if u did flash the rom then maybe that's what caused the problem
4i will do an update and let u know when iam finished hopefully it works on ur phone but I need the other info I was asking 1st

nice that there are still game-devs for WM out there
But a short question: Why do you develope for 6.1 ONLY, couldn´t you try to code the games so they will run on 6.1 AND 6.5 (or just 6.5)?? Because 6.5 is the actual Mobile-OS and many old and the new phones run on it at the moment...

ok let me clarify my games work on windows mobile 6.5 ......but if u flash the ROM it might not work only if u flashed it but if it came with pocket pc it works fine....all my games are windows mobile compatible and htc want developers to make wvga games so that what i plan but all my games or windows mobile compatible ...not flashed ROMs sometimes they work sometimes not ok i hope i clarified that issue
It is easy to flash the stock ROM with 6.1 but I don't want 6.1
I think it might have something to do with the graphic drivers in the ROM
I'll try the newest pack and test again.
edit: I installed the newest driver pack but it's the same as before.
ok in some pocket pc wvga styles the game will only work if i do it 480X800 so next time i make it in that resolution and see if it works
this one is 800X480 it works on most but some have a problem iam working on it now hopefully this correct the problem
Judging from your screen shots the game is supposed to be landscape but it always launches in portrait. I think that is the problem

ok so i should be able to make the update by tommorow and i put it online i pm u and others that had the problem i will also talk with other developers i know and see if they encountered similar situations cause i need this to work before i start working on a large project...
