stack at boot options - MDA III, XDA III, PDA2k, 9090 ROM Development

I was upgrading my Qtek 9090 to WM6 by fallowing the wizard. Everithing was fine up to setting boot options and rebooting step (set "Enable KITL" to "No", "Clean Registry Hive" to "Yes" & "Format Storage" to "Yes"). I changed boot options as instructed and hit "Email" button. After that I am stack at White screen, nothing happens...
After several hours, I reseted my BA, and found that boot options are set to default values (Yes, no, no). I tried to change settings several times, but it just never accepts changes.
Can someone help me? Please?

Boot options are always presented in default YES/NO/NO - some developer set it so (probably not to make hard reset every time and enable KITL needed for debugging). It's up to you to set is NO/YES/YES to make hard reset and that's all.
If you have white screen later on after formatting the storage and cleaning the hive, you just need to flash again with different (or even the same, if this one is correct) ROM. This is normal in case of broken flash, broken ROM or just wrong ROM.
So: reflash/format/wait

well, guess this will help..
when i put it No, Yes, Yes.. it was white like yours.. but I press the e-mail button again n again n i press the other button too.. n viola.. it's about less than a minute it shows the Black crossbow boot screen..

Tried it all, nothing works
I have tried to re-flash with several different images; wm6, wm5 and 2k3, always the same problem! I can't get it to accept new boot options (NO/YES/YES).
Is there any other way?
Please help, my BA is currently useless!

How to *really* hard reset Universal to factory condition

With all this talk about WM5 devices not really resetting everything after a hard reset, and my device being dead and not recovering after a hard reset makes me think, there must be an alternate way to really hard reset a device back to factory condition.
I tried a lot of combinations of presses to no end. The only thing I am suspicious about but did not play with is a red/white round sticker (which looks like it is hiding a button) under the battery (upper left corner).
Anyone know what that is, or is there a way to do a harder reset? Taking the battery out for a few days did not help either.
Because flash memory actually needs erasing rather than just resetting I doubt it is possible to clear it with a simple button press. It may be you can do a normal hard reset and hold down a button to bypass loading data from the flash then format it. But I've no idea really.

Re-flash the ROM?
uuummm some where in this forum i read that if you have wm2005 and go to boot loader mode you get an option over there to clear the cache or memory something like that, and that would give you a clean installation.....
haven't tried it though.....and i doubt i would get such an option in wm2003se, also i have a similar problem i did a complete flash reinstallation of rom to my device and after the installation i opened windows media player (wasnt the first thing i opened, but didnt copy any files)and guess what....i had a song available over there..... which i could actually play and it did....i checked the location of the file and it was somewhere in my device or documents dont quite remember i did a hard reset again and same issue....
after that i have'nt tried anything the rom is same i just deleted the folder manually but i would also like to know how to TOTALLLLLLY ERASE ALL DATA from the device and clean install everything
regards
on the XDA II and WM5 you hold down the buttons to resent stage then i gives you three options. One of these I am sure clears the phone
I hard reset my Universal several times (well I think I did at least)
Press the soft reset plus the two "-" buttons and you will have a white screen asking if you want to put back your HTC back factory default
Unfortunately that standard hard reset, doesn't do it. I am still stuck at reboot, and the radio rom version shows the attempted upgrade version (01) that started the problem in the first place.
i tried some of them according to herein, but some of them were not function.
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=Universal_Technical
there's a little icon called "clear storage" which brings your settings to the factory's default. what's wrong with it?
i'm stuck too in bootloader with my mda pro

This may be too late, but there's no way to do any sort of a reset to revert back to a previous ROM... the only thing you can do is reflash the earlier ROM.

ok ... now the final BIG request ... who can give us an update that works. the patched Maupgradeut_noid is not working with the latest upgrade.
thanks.
To revert back to clean copy of OS (i.e newly installed OS)
Hi,
Just to share with you my experience in reverting my phone to its original OS condition. Before that, just to give you guys some background.
1. Upgraded from PPC2003 to WM5
2. Tried install some patch to enable file transfer (OBEX) in BT
3. Suddenly, the phone screen gone missing. Phone shows No Signal. Cannot receive call.
3a. Did a OS reflash again, but still does not solve the problem.
4. **Panic for a moment **
5. Looked thro Program Files, and seems like some appln i installed were not erased despite doing a hard reset. So, i guess the hard reset doesnt erase some portion of the memory
6. Googled for a solution, but most said do hard reset
7. Went back xda-developers.com site to look for solution
8. Finally found a method. see http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=1164331 to do a format on the memory
Now, my phone is working fine. The phone screen is back and it shows my telco name, and can receive call
Hope this helps.
Rgds,

you're in the wrong forum mate

White Screen only

I just installed this program, used default settings, apllied, My 8125 soft reset.
Now I cannot see anthing past the initial screen that lists IPL and SPL version.
Just a plain white screen, Active sync wont work, no buttons work. Please help !!!!!!!!!!
If you're stuck I think the only next step would be a hard reset which is going to drop it back to the base factory build so you'll lose anything you've installed etc.
How do I hard reset 8125, with buttons only (key / button combination) OS does not boot or visible.
press the "connetions" button (on the left hand side of the unit next to volume up/down) with the "voice" button (right hand side of the unit opposite the connections button) and then use the stylus to do the normal soft reset and it should hard reset back to factory settings - it's described in the manual
Tried hard reset several times, no luck.
All I did was installed registry wizard from here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=39725&highlight=registrywizard
and now I can't get it to do anything, anymore suggestions ?, your help is really appriciated, I have only had the phone to 2 days and its dead already
try holding the same two buttons and then hitting the power button instead of the reset thingy... this method was easier for me... If this dosen't work you will have to enter bootloader mode and reflash the rom.
For the detailed reset procedures try here
By the way, did you use that program to change the default input method?? I use it all the time and the only time it gave me the whitescreen is when I tried to change the default input...Oops. I believe that you should be able to use that program safely, just leave the default input alone... Hope this helps.
Thanks for info, I did manage to reload the ROM. and Yes I did change the default input method, that might have done it. Thanks all, for your Help.
raheelb did you have the warning that the proggie cannot recognize the AKU version?
I had had such a warning, unfortunately bypassed it and had the same issue (white screen) - any one knows why the RegistryWizard cannot recognize AKU version? I have the original Qtek 2.17 ROM installed... :?

Alternative Hard Reset

Hello. First all sorry for my english.
Since a few days the buttons of my pda are crazy and don't work properly.
For example: The power button don't switch off the pda, but if I press and hold the button for a few seconds, switch off the ligth of the screen. This mean that the button isn´t broken, is it??? With the cam and record button it´s the same. If I press those buttons on windows 6 it works perfectly but i want to hard reset my pda and when reset and press whe i have to change "Clean Registry Hive " and "Format Storage" I can't change these options and cant make hard reset.
Then that is the question:
How can i make hard reset?? is there an alternative metod???? At Qtek S200 there is an application that clean the memory. It Exists for my blueangel??'
There is any application than do it???
Thanks. I´m waiting for answers.
u can use psshutXP it can do a hardreset with confirmation by holding the upper right corner of the application.
Hello.
Thanks for your answer.
I have tested your option, but it seems that the hard reset doesn´t work in wm6. It changes time and date, but don't clean memory, because i have the same programs than before.
I need another metod.
Thanks.
here u are..
just reset first your device, than after you see the stripped screen, press the record and camera button quickly before the the version appears (radio,etc).. then you will see the three options..
enable kitl should be no
clean registry hive should be yes
format storage should be yes
to choose just use the camera and record to change the options...
good luck
cheers
adri..
Hello evoluzionne.
I know that way to do hard reset, but my problem is that i can´t change the options:
enable kitl should be no
clean registry hive should be yes
format storage should be yes
In Windows Mobile 5 or 6 the camera and record buttons works properly, but when I reset the device and press the record and camera button quickly before the the version appears (radio,etc).. i can´t change the optios. It´s seems like the buttons don´t work. But i know that the buttons works, but the buttons don´t change the options. It´s very stranger.
In the power button is seemed. I can switch on the device, i can switch on/off the screen if I press and hold the button but i Can´t switch off the device. It´s incredible. My buttons are crazy. So i want to do downgraded to WM2003 ( so I need to do hard reset).
Do you know why are my buttons crazy????
Thank for your answer, and sorry for my english
Ciao
Hi,
Just wondering if you resolved the issue. I am having a similar problem on pda2k upgrading from wm5 to wm6. Buttons work except during boot menu so i cannot change options.

Hi,
I have an exact problem as you. I've followed any info about hard reset, I've red wiki 100times, searching using Google but perform hard reset or enter to bootloader mode on my BA is IMPOSSIBLE!
In November I've upgraded to WM6, ROM from pdaviet, OS 5.2.2000 (Build 20000.1.0.0.PV.HAT)
MDA is working without problems, I can use phone, wifi, camera, record, BT, ActiveSync 4.5.
Right now I want to upgrade to new ROM from pdaviet but I stuck with a step: enter to bootloader mode
I've tried psShupXP software, which is capable do a hard reset. Still no luck, after software hard reset my BA comes on with all files installed...
Unfortunatelly mtty doens't works too, I can't see any WCEUSBSH001 port...
I'm not alone, but the bad news is that I don't find any solution
Thanks for any hint
R.V.
I have the same problem as you do, except I can enter BootLoader and Hardreser, but I can't turn off my device with power button, and if I hold it for long it shuts the backlight.
If anyone had any sucess solving this please share how...
Thank you.

I am following the same exact steps...flashed rom for the 5th time...hard reset is not working. The problem...'Mail' button (the hardware key) does not respond. I can change the options from No to Yes. But after pressing the 'mail' button nothing happens. Please let me know if there is another way to clear the registry hives and format the storage!!!
have you guys tried the MTTY alternative? i think it's somewhere here in the forum.
I am having the problem described in here.
By holding the record & media button, it *does* go to the hard reset menu, so obviously the record and wm buttons do work (ie is not a physical problem with the buttons), since these buttons do get it to the menu, it just does not allow any changes to the options (KITL, format storage, format registry hive)...
It is maddening, because I am stuck with the oldish pdaviet WM6 rom that crashes for me all the time and I want to try the newer 6.1 ROMs but can't hard reset and have seriously considered finding another used BA on ebay to start fresh it is driving me so nuts.....
I am about to search for the MTTY method described by samurai above... assuming I locate and can do it, I'll post results....
what do you mean "it just does not allow any changes to the options"? do you mean it wont let you navigate through each options? or do you mean it wont let you change from yes to no or no to yes?
any changes to the options are executed only after you have pushed the "mail" button

Bootloader just flashing

I've done something wrong on my HTC Polaris (XDA Orbit 2) and I decided to flash the ROM. It wouldn't boot the Windows. It's stuck on Welcome screen.
After reading most of that forum I downloaded the things I need and tried it.
Weell, that's where the problems started. The PC is not detecting the phone, so niether the MTTY nor ROMUpdateUtility are able to connect to it. (active Sync is disabled ofcourse). I cannot flash the Hard SPL or do anything.
Then I tried to flash from MicroSD. Formated it to Fat32, Renamed the ROM I needed and ... nothing. When I press the camera button and the reset button with the stylo, there is a quick flash of the bootloader screen (the 3 colore screen). So quick that I cant read the 3 lines on it.
Can anyone suggest something, please.....
press photo button and hold -> press soft reset and hold -> bootloader screen appears -> release soft reset button -> wait until bootloader screen appears -> release photo button
Thanks a lot my friend. That worked fine. Now its asking me for serial. I've downloaded the original O2 ROM, verifyed it with my serial, but on the phone it dose nothing. Am i doing something wrong again?
Well, yes. I was doing something wrong. Needed to rename the ROM file with "POLAIMG.nbh". Now its done.
Thanks to everyone who shared his knowledge here in this forum.

Screwed my elf! Please help!

Hi guys.
I recently installed Onyx Micro on my Elf, and it's been great. I needed a "Home" panel though, so I installed a Home application that I had on my memory card, and after that reset, my phone's been unusable. When i turn it on, it either hangs, or gives me an error that says something to the effect of "phonesyslog has malfunctioned", and then freezes.
I can't get it connected with Actiesync, I can't hard-reset it either. Any idea what I can do?
Can anyone help me?
Hi,
Did you try removing the memory card? In case that doesn't help, try pressing the camera button while starting up, this should enter the bootloader mode, which enables you to flash a new rom. Do this in Windows XP, as Vista can cause problems. If you've never flashed a rom, try searching this forum for an appropriate rom and a how-to-guide.
Regards,
murosama
Hard reset should work and should be all you need to solve your problem. Make sure that you are performing the hard reset correctly.
For a hard-reset without access to the systems menu do the following:
Make sure the device is switched off, then press both the green and the red phone button and while keeping them pressed switch on the device.
A menu should appear, asking you to confirm the hard-reset.
(Upon confirmation, all data will be erased and the out-of-box state will be restored.)
In case that doesn't work, try flashing a rom that is native to your device
(as suggested above).
Good luck,
murosama
I got the same problem i tryed all off this but didn`t work did you find a sollution for yours?
