Hi
is there such a thing as a software that can play background music while
calling or receiving a phone call?
I have a gigabyte i300. it comes with a program called "Wisetalk" which offers both an answering machine and background noises. You can change the background noises to be songs I think.
not sure if its just a gigabyte program though.

I have an AT&T 8525 (WM6 standard unmod'd rom) in the US, and have assinged a simple mp3 ringtone (have tried wav, etc, also) for my default ringtone.
I have assigned certain callers to their own mp3 ringtone.
The ringtone does play, but the default ringtone plays for about .5 to 1 second before the other mp3 ringtone plays.
If you look at the caller id on the display, it also says UNKNOWN for .5 to 1 second then switches to the caller name and phone #.
Why does the phone do this? IT makes for an odd sounding ringtone at 1st
with the default tone chiming in for a second.
Ideas?

I too have the same problem with some roms! Now on Shap's 4.0 it work's fine! For now
Same problem with my 8525 with VP3's latest but, it doesn't do it all the time.
i've got the exact same problem. kinda glad to hear it wasnt just me! lol
Just a guess
yeah mine does that too. I would assume it has to do with the time it takes for the phone to get the called ID information. Just like your house phone, caller ID takes just a little bit longer to get than the ring.
Change the ROM and you will not have these problems any more
Or use some programs to free RAM memory, like CeleTask (X-button doesn't free full memory, it only closes active programs!)
As I sad Shap's 4.0 works fine with ringtones, for now!
I did discover one program that was causing a delay, long enough
to let the other ringtone (default) play..
I had latest Resco Audio Recorder automatically recording
incoming phone calls. I turned that feature off, and it still
says unknown VERY briefly but not enough time to
let the default ringtone ring thru now.

I have found that in xbox music, if you pause a track, then while paused go into WhatsApp, then try to resume the track you paused in music, for some reason this takes you back to WhatsApp.
You can open up WhatsApp OK while you have music playing, only happens when it is paused, then you lose your place in the song/album/playlist/whatever.
Is this happening for anyone else? (not sure if it happens with videos, only ever play music)
This is not a Bug with XBox Music but due to the fact that WhatsApp is misusing the Music Streaming APIs to keep Wifi enabled in Standby. WhatsApp starts a fake background Music stream to make WP8 keep the connection alive and given that it doesn't make a lot of sense to have two music streams at once WhatsApp gets inserted into the player dropdown (replacing XBox Music).
If you want that fixed contact WhatsApp and get them to at least make that "feature" configurable.

Thanks, that makes sense.
Given that WhatsApp doesn't really work all that well anyway (I get notifications appear, but open the app to find nothing new. Close, then re-open and it loads. The refreshing of the message string isn't great) I am thinking of uninstalling it and getting people to use email instead
One of my favorite features of 4.1 Jellybean was that notifications (SMS, etc.) did not pause music, but rather were gently overlaid on top of a temporarily lowered volume.
Perhaps this is a Samsung disruption of a thoughtful Android enhancement, as while streaming music from rdio on my shiny new N3, I was dismayed to have had my music brutally interrupted for a text message notification.
Obnoxious. Annoying. Any way to fix this?
You can't fix it. Because it doesn't any error.

i think, it depends on the application, because when im using whatsapp it doesnt interrupt, but a gmail notification will interrupt the music playback... its kinda annoying...
I dream mp3's from my device to my car via Bluetooth.
It's horrid that notifications aren't silenced duringI music playback.
therefore turn off notifications volume when listening to music in the car.
This also bothers me. Coming from an iPhone the notifications would be overlaid and the music or current activity would lower in volume for the duration of the notification.
With the Note 3 if I am listening to a radio/music app I get an email/MSG it cuts the stream completely and then restarts it.

Mute your phones.
Or enable the option to force the phone into silent mode while music is playing (custom ROMs). Perhaps some 3rd party music players support this option, too.
I am annoyed by this too. I use Trigger to automatically mute my phone when it connects to my car's bluetooth (and then start Waze, open Spotify and hit Play).
No custom ROM I've used has a way to change this behavior. I know that the apps are the ones that listen for this, Beyond Pod for example has a setting to ignore these pause signals and the notifications get overlayed. Spotify doesn't have this option, so muting sounds is my only solution. It works great in the car. You can add a Trigger action to mute when connected to Bluetooth, or when a headset is inserted to make it more automatic.
Tasker is of course another option, but I find Trigger much simpler and eye pleasing.
Doesn't happen for me with N7player and Whatsapp... It just keeps playing and puts the notification on top of the audio.
I have some media players that are paused when a phone call is active, either incoming or outgoing. But, one player does not handle this and instead continues to play music.
What has this developer missed that the other ones have done? It is of course not good to have the media playing while trying to have a conversation..
Think I found a tutorial showing how to do it
