Yes! there are many back up softwares available, search the forum or hit the 'Search' button at the top of any forum and enter contacts back up softwares,I'm sure you'll find links for all.Well,to give you a start, there's one very reliable and recommended called 'PIMBackup'
Cheers!

Hi peeps.
After reading through various posts on this board, I thought I would hard resst my exec and install the cabs manually as suggested to get the features I want without the bloatware.
So far so good, installed everything I wanted and the connections only cab that is availble but, my MMS doesn't seem to work.
There is no MMS account in poutlook and there's noway that I can see of composing new MMS messages.
How does everyone else go on with this because when I've looked through some of the posts, everyone says thier SMS is working OK.
It's probably something stupid...
Cheers,
Smiff.
See? That's what happens when you don't proof-read your posts - there's loads of spelling mistooks and typos; and then no-one responds.
But seriously, someone else must have seen this as I'm not the only one to do a minimal install. Any ideas?
Cheers,
Smiff.
Answers in this thread for the cab file to install.

I've read that one multiple times but still have no working MMS in this situation...
I THINK
I beleive you have to create new account. It appears to be setting up email just continue through and at some point you can select type and set to mms. Then highlight account click on settings and put in your providers mms setting and bingo...
must say I havent had this problem on the exec but did on xdaiis and that solved it..
hope that helps
stay happy

Hi
Thanks for the tip but unfortunately, it didn't work that way
However, I have managed to get it working now - i did a hard reset again and a clean install and then installed 5 cabs - voicemail one, bt patch, both "shortcut" ones and the uaprof one.
The only thing I did differently this time from all the others is that I switched it off with the power button and on again before soft resetting it - i'm pretty sure that this did the trick
Cheers,
Smiff.
Hi, my JASJAM shows an unread SMS when there is no SMS there.
Not sure how to resolve.
I have the Windows Live WM6 cooked ROM installed, what info will i lose if i hard reset?
Any ideas on how to resolve?
Maybe the Message is in the SIM card, not in the phone...
Download and install SIM Message to browse your SIM card storage:

FixUnreadCount.exe
try this WM software "FixUnreadCount.exe" just made for this problem.
thanks
thank you a million. worked a treat . . . you made my morning.
I _think_ I've had this problem before, and I believe I solved it by using PIMbackup to backup my messages and then re-import them, chosing the option to clear down messages before impot.
thanks

Thank you so much for posting that file and to whoever made it. Found it using the Google search of the forums. Messaging was showing 1 unread message in my outbox which was really annoying me, but this tool worked a treat!
Import messages from SIM to my phone
Hello,
I have an imate Jasjam. My SIM card has a few SMS messages that do not show up on my Jasjam. If I put the SIm in another phone, I can read those messages.
Any idea if there is a software that lets me copy text messages from SIm card to teh phone?
Jerry
fixunreadcount.exe didn't work for me either so here is what I did:
1) Backup using Sprite. Uncheck messages so they aren't included in the backup.
2) Hard reset the device
3) Restore using Sprite
4) Re-setup your email accounts
How to hard reset (from the wiki):
Hard Reset **NB** This cannot be performed while the device is connected/charging!**
* Press and hold both soft keys
* Using a stylus, press and hold the soft reset button at the bottom of the phone
* Keep all three buttons pressed until the keypad lights turn off and then flash
* Release the soft reset button while still pressing the soft keys
* Let go of the two soft keys once the message "This operation will delete all your personal data, to manufacturer default" appears on screen
* Finally, press the green call button to perform the hard reset, or press other key to cancel
will this work on an htc diamond? I have a pesky message that wont clear...
@willybean
I have a Sprint HTC Diamond and it's constantly showing me 1 unread email, even when there are none. I tried the FixUnreadCount.exe, did a soft reset and it didn't change a thing. It is an annoyance but I guess I can just ignore it. If you find/know of a fix tho.. love to hear it.
Thanks so very much
This worked great on my 8525. Copied the exe to the storage card, ran it and reset. Message cleared.

worked like a charm!!
Thanks dude. Worked like a charm on my Tilt2.
If your sms is in threaded mode, you should read this, if not just ignore it:
"I have met this before, the fact is you have an unread sms in some thread , and this unread sms is relatively old. You need to find this sms in a lot of thread. Or you can switch to normal sms mode, in this way it will be easier to find the unread one."
Thanks to You!
This worked GREAT!
Thanks!
Worked perfectly on my Touch Pro running WM6.5 Energy rom.
It was drivin me nuts!
Worked great!! Thanks so much!!
same problem (fixed!)

It was driving me insane too. This program saved me from throwing my phone against the wall as hard as I could.
Hi Guys,
My HTC Herald is giving me some application problems - running incredibly slow, applications not working, people calling me and I am unable to answer or see who is calling but hear it ringing and typing problems so I am considering doing a Hard Reset in hopes that it restores my HTC back.
I just have some questions regarding a Hard Reset if someone could please just answer it for me, I would kindly appreciate it.
I am aware a Hard Reset resets your phone back to manufacture status, so obviously you loose anything you add on the phone since. However does it erase Messages and Contacts?
I know how to back up my contacts using Outlook on my PC, but not sure how to do it to my messages and then if it does delete it, how do I put it back on my HTC?
Finally will Hard Reseting fix its bugs?
Thanks alot in advance!
Yes, it will erase everything on your device program memory. Well to back up your contacts, messages, appointments and tasks, use the PPCPimBackup.zip. unzip it and place it on the memory stick and then run file explorer and look it up. click on it and follow the instructions. Very easy. Remember to back up on your storagecard!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
When your done hard resetting, use this program again to restore your contacts etc...
Hardresetting will help you resolve your problems... I do a hardreset everytime I feel the phone gets a bit on the slow side.
Hi guys
sorry for creating a new thread for this. I know it has been answered probably many times before but even after trying 7 - 8 different search combinations I still get a silly amount of threads.
The words are just too common I guess...
so quick questions as the title says: I m planning to hard reset my phone in a bit and I would like to have my sms saved somehow so that they re-appear after the hard reset - ideas?
you can use microsoft my phone. www.myphone.microsoft.com
it's hella sweet
Hi.
Or you can use : http://handheld.softpedia.com/get/Desktop-and-Shell/Windows/Windows-Mobile-SMS-Sync-69006.shtml

The problem with MyPhone is that when it restores the text messages to the phone after a hard reset, it does so in an non-sequential way. It does not retain the order in which they appear before the hard reset. As a result of this, one has to hunt for messages in the conversation thread.
I'd suggest you try this (see attached)
Just use PIM Backup http://www.dotfred.net/
Backup your contacts, sms, call history and more. Perfect program!
I've had my HTC about 3 weeks and it's the first smartphone I've had so my question may be a bit stupid to you experts
I'm on pay monthly )2 if that makes a difference?
I've had problems with text messages randomly getting stuck in outbox and not being sent.
I've searched on the internet and found HTC have issued a fix LEO08007-07 so I downloaded it from the HTC site and have installed it.
It appears the TODAY app with all the weather , pictures, music shortcuts has now disappeared and I'm getting a blank front screen. The settings menu has changed and I cant access the HTC Message app at all
What have I done wrong and how can I get it back.
Sorry - just found Today shortcut (moved to a different part of screen but it's not working
I also forgot to add ROM 1.43 something
Sorry if it's straightforward. Cheers guys
If you've not done too many customisations I'd suggest a hard reset. To do this, turn the unit off, hold down both vol up and vol down and turn it back on and follow the screen instructions. I'd recommend doing this with both SD card and SIM card removed to be on the safe side
Thanks for that help. It's got me back to the start
Is there anything else 'easy' I can do to stop the texts getting stuck in my outbox?
Is there anything els you'd recommend for a newbie to do.
The ROM is 1.48.405.2 (71294) WWE
I hope you guys don't mind helping. As it's my first win mob I want to try and make the most of it but I'm not really tech minded
