People wanted photos... here (note the forum software here seems to be broken so you'll have to actually click the photos to see them). Sorry about the blurry backlight keyboard photo - its pretty hard keeping still for 4/5ths of a second!
Enjoy!
Any chance to have some photos taken with your 9100's camera so we can compare the quality with JAM?
Thanks for the photos!
Awesome! Post your impressions!
Here!
The above post was made entirely from my 9100... pretty nifty. The camera quality is pretty terrible (as expected), the flash barely does anything except for at extremely close range (as the sample photos demonstrate). The flash stays on all the time when its enabled but when you finally press the shutter button it goes slightly brigher.
Overall, the device seems very robust and solid. The only slight downfall I've observed is that you need to make sure you slide the screen squarely or it will get jammed. It is a little bigger than I had hoped for, but still definitely pocketable.
GPRS, WiFi and Bluetooth are all easy as pie to setup and the flashing LEDs make it very easy to see exactly what you have enabled. I haven't noticed any real slowdowns, unless I have a ridiculous amount of applications open and then try to switch to landscape... oh, and the stylus can be annoying to get out/ put in (I'm used to it being on the top of the device and I'm not used to a telescopic stylus). The screen also feels very bendy/ stretchy, like the air-gap between the glass and the touchscreen layer is pretty big. This means that you have to press quite hard for the touchscreen to respond (I'm used to a feather-light touch on the hx4700). Other than that it feels fine. I'll post more after I've had a play. I havent even connected this thing to a PC yet!
Sound quality is superb! I thought I'd find the headphones that are supplied with it laughable, but they're not half bad! There is actually bass (not much, but its there) and crisp high-end frequencies! The question is: Is the limiting factor the headphones or the amplifier. Unfortunately I don't have a 2.5mm->3.5mm converter to hand to find out.
The earphones dont really fit my ears well (none do) so I might look into doctoring them by attaching a 3.5mm jack after the little volume slider box.
I'm quite an audiophile and I find the sound quality quite acceptable, it definitely wont replace a dedicated MP3 player, but if its all you've got it will do fine.
can you post a picture of your device info. my kjam says 195mhz on processor speed and I have heard that the qtek says 200mhz. but that was a pre production unit. can you tell me if yours says 200mhz or 195???
This one has it's clock set to 195MHz like the K-JAM.
Also, if you're totally obsessive about the condition/ resale value of your devices, you dont need to open the sealed CD (its sealed with a Microsoft label). All it seems to contain is ActiveSync 4.0 and Outlook 2002.
Another thing I noticed - on the side of the box it says "802.11 b"... I'm not sure if this is different to the K-JAM which says it supports 802.11g among others. Has anyone bothered to see what the throughput is on the K-JAM?
The benchmark is in. Use the contents of these files at: http://www.spbsoftwarehouse.com/products/benchmark/handleresult.php?en
These results are taken from a fresh hard-reset hx4700 and a fresh hard-reset Qtek 9100. Yes, I realise comparing a WM2003 to a WM2005 device using such software isn't particularly fair... but it does accurately show how much slower the Wizard is (especially when it comes to writing files straight into flash ROM).
Note that the storage card results in the Qtek file should be the same as the "main" filesystem results since its reading from/ writing to the same place (I don't have a miniSD card yet). The reason the Qtek outranks the hx4700 in the graphics department is because the hx4700 is a VGA device.
The battery results for the Qtek 9100 are with the GSM radio activated.
If you've been monitoring the reported bugs on the K-jam on HoFo, it'd be interesting to see how the 9100 compares and whether you find the same bugs.
Also a little concerned about the wifi only being b spec not g. Can you test this?
I just switched my Wireless AP to "G Only". This took out my old laptop with a B card, however my Qtek 9100 was still able to connect fine.
Also, I've been messing around a bit more with the camera... and the photo quality is abysmal. My Nokia 6600 took better photos!
It's amazing they couldn't put a better camera in such an expensive device. What's the point of 1.3 mega pixels of noise?
I totally agree. They may as well have just put a 300kpixel camera in there, the quality would have been the same.
my guess is that those pictures were taken too close to the keyboard for the lens to focus on it. I saw some pictures from a k-jam and, while still not that good, they were much better than these. I believe the same camera unit was used in both.
The camera's focal distance is terrible. I compared it to a Sony Clié which could take a crisp photo of a sheet of paper about 5cm away with only a 300kpixel camera!

I've just got a pair of 9100's to replace our old 6310's. The first one I opened (and gave to the wife) is as responsive as my 4700, even with a PPC Tech screen protector on. The second sounds just like yours ShALLaX, definately more squishy, even before I put the screen protector on...

Yay for quality control

I know... I'd send it back to Expansys, but their K-Jams's have slipped again, and I don't know how long I'd have to wait for another 9100.

Yeah... I'm sure I'll survive too.
Pretty much got mine all setup how I want it now. With it all customised you do start to notice performance issues but I'm willing to overlook the sluggish programme start times because of the awesome functionality.
... trade my wizard with the prophet. I realy enjoyed the device but I don't like some things:
1) build quality (HTC could do better)
keyboard, the paint pealing off the buttons, stylus
2) camera (it's veeery bad, unusable, only to play with)
3) Although all my previous devices where bulky, the size of the prophet is very small (and thin). I used to have a imate jam and I know.
So, please tell me, why shouldn't I trade it with the prophet?? Have a full SD slot??? Smaller size - same processor/performance/RAM????
Just because of the qwerty??? And maybe the laudspeakers???
Please advise me and tell me if i'm doing the right thing.
I couldn't find many htc wizard vs prophet out there.
Thanks in advance
Andrew
P.S. Why is the prophet cheaper???
Hey guys,
I recently bought an O2 Mini-S but have noticed a wierd problem with the screen. It seems to be running in a low graphics mode. I can see strange coloration of pictures and images. The sample images / videos that came with the phone suffer from this as well as images ive put on it from my pc and taken with the mini's internal camera. On the 02 splash screen for exaple I get a wavey green area at the top of the screen, and a purple line / area type thing in the middle of the image.
Ive seen some screen shots in a thread to do with customising the Today screen, if you need an example of my screen and can tell me how to take one I will try my best
Any ideas? Ive tried a soft reset but it did nothing.
Thanks,
BP
ps - I had a quick search but couldnt find a post on the same topic, sorry if this is a repetition.
Take it back and have it replaced.
Is it just a faulty unit then?
Sounds like it
My Prophet has been proved to be quite durable. It has fallen down quite a few times and still operates normally. Yet, these misfortunes have produces slight deformations to its scratch resistant metallic surface (in some parts the black color has goen away and the metallic color below is revealed)..
Therefore I was wondering:
a. Whether I can find another frame/case? (I Don't care for the provider)
b. Can change it on my own (no sending to the service-man required)
c. Whether I can use other colors (e.g. blue, or piano black etc) - dopod comes in 5 colors - XDA has been resealed in piano white..
If anyone has any info on these I would really appreciate it..
Best Regards,
Evans
Where you can get a case I don't know. But I do know you can change it yourself. Full instructions here: http://www.modaco.com/index.php?s=4b70b949c889cbd066db2acd526fda51&showtopic=240109
Black Qtek S200 @ cnn.cn/shop for $59.00. It says it's a Dopod 818 Pro housing but the picture shows a Qtek housing. Either way here's the link:

You might have better luck asking in the Wizard Forum.
I believe that same site offers cases for the Wizard as well...look around and you should find it.
Hi,
when I set the camera on my O2 Xda Neo to 1.3 Megapixel or higher, there are stranges stripes on the photos (see examples below). It works fine if I use lower values...
Does anyone know a way to fix this other than sending it to the O2 service?
The Neo is currently running the QTek-Rom, but the problem was there before too! Also it's not overclocked...
Examples:
i doesnt see any example ... have you overclock your phone?
There are two black vertical lines in the top photo. I cant see whats wrong with the bottom one though.
OP - more information please.
Sorry for the late reply..
The top photo was shot with 1.3 or 2.0 megapixels (can't remember anymore, it makes no difference though since it's the same problem with the two values)
The bottom photo was shot with the setting "Large (640x480)" just to show that it works with lower values.
it´s a problem of your rom, my qtek happened the same thing. reinstal the older rom, that is the service of qtek made on mine s200 to solve the prob.
Thanks for your reply!
I'm not sure if I'm able to downgrade my Prophet since it's a G4 model, or does this only apply to usermade roms?
Edit:
Hmm, nope.. Just tried the newest O2-Rom...same problem
