Is their anyway to easily remove apps that are installed on the phone from the factory such as the java app that comes with the Wing?
No. You can remove the shortcut, but if it's ROM, the only way is to cook the ROM.
with PocketMechanic you can move them over to the storage card to gain more space on your device.

If the item in question is in the ROM, it cannot be moved. In other words, if it was cooked with it and it's uninstallable in the remove programs app, you cannot move it.

Just a couple of things that I felt I should point out.

And also, no ignoring the cook that knows what he's talking about.
Excuse me mr. COOK. But when you are running a STOCK T-mobile Rom, most of the APPS that are installed are included in the Extended Rom installation, therefore show up as installed applications in the remove programs screen, and/or are accessible to be relocated using pocket mechanic.
As Mr. XSPSI so pointed out, that he is specifically asking about, and I QUOTE:
xspsi said:

So Mr. "COOK", I stand by my original point. Not all, but MOST of the applications that come from the FACTORY are able to be removed or relocated. When you install a 3rd party Rom, all the cooks include all of the software inside the rom, so no, there you are correct that you aren't able to uninstall them... but in Mr. XSPSI's case, the answer would be Yes.

He said like the JAVA app. Show me how he can uninstall the java app and I'll concede that you're right. The only apps that the wing comes with that are in the extended ROM are some of the T-Mobile Apps. NOT most of the apps. Thus, HE CANNOT REMOVE THEM.

So I don't see the burn.
And for the future, it is not polite to mock someone, "MR BURN."
Now go away, I just woke up and need some coffee to be civilized.

Thanks for all the replies. I have seen the tmo apps in the remove programs section and removed the ones I no longer want but they are many apps that cannot be removed from the Factory ROM...such as the java midlet app, handango inHand, bubble breaker, solitaire....etc.
I understand that I can remove the shortcuts but that still leaves that application still on the phone.
I'm not too crazy over the touch UI and don't have a need for it so I really don't care for the wing roms that are out right now. I also own an MDA and I liked that some cookers created "vanilla" Roms that didn't have much installed on it so you can install what you wanted.
I believe there is a couple of "clean" rom out there that you can try, as well as "light" versions of TouchIT.

As far as the OP: I have a clean ROM in my sig... it's called CleanROM. I know... very original.

I even like to recommend not to install any JGUI software anyway... crappy, buggy, dangerous and useless as well.
any profile aplication you recommend installing instead of that?

I second that. I used PZP before, but I could remove several programs when installing PocketMax PhoneAlarm and it still has features that I can't find anywhere else. It looks really good too, if you choose Joel_Blue.
Well, thanks to JGUI I have now installed Anansky's ROM and now have

I couldn't be bothered b4, but since I had to do a hard-reset I thought might as well ....

I did a negative review of one of JGUI products on pocketgear. They refused to post it. I guess they are worried that people would not buy the product and it would cost them money.
His software is simply terrible. Sure you can download a trial without paying for it. But try to uninstall it, you will end up having to do a hard reset, if it dosen't already cause a hard reset.
Needless to say, I stopped using Pocketgear. They wouldn't even respond as to why they wouldn't post my review.
I did get a response from JGUI, but no help with problems. I had bought several of his products all of which caused problems of one sort or another.

KTA, I'm longing to do this too - any chance of a "simple" tutorial on where to get the necessary files and how to install them properly ??
Pretty please with sugar on top
If you go to the xda ftp site (ftp://xda:[email protected]/Magician/anansky/), there's the ROM and a word document that describes the whole process. The other tools you need can also be found on ftp as well (ftp://xda:[email protected]/Backup tools1/).
If you don't understand anything in the word document please let me know.
Yeah, I had a pretty bad experience when I tried JGUI software on my previous ppc phone. Simply does not work as claim, choke the CPU and causes the phone to hang, and of course have to hard reset to really uninstall it.
I am surprise the developer still have the cheek to develop new software ...
Hehe, I used DoNotDisturb for a couple of days, until my friend told me that the software had sent him a couple of messages without me missing any call from him at all.. Buggy is the word..
Hi
I've been looking hard with no success.
How to remove the status line from the Today screen in Qtek 9100/WM5.0. It shows WiFi and Battery status - which I don't need here - while taking the precious space...
Any idea?
Help please!
Sorry to post again here but I can't believe that there is nobody suffering from this and that there is nobody who has solved the issue until now.
There are so many Today screen plug-ins that show the information, not to mention the information is useless here - I believe.
Please let me know if it's me being a mega-geek finding ways to make something better or the answer is so simple that nobody bothers to post.
:?
if it is that important to you - here's your solution: remove Init_Tray.lnk from "\windows\start up", restart and you are done.
did i help you? then recommend me
cheers, lutz
Thats not what makes the tray. That program adds the Wifi and battery bar. You have to take out any program that uses the tray. If a program uses the tray , then the tray is automatically created.
isn't that exactly what the guy has there? why do you jump in here? if you have any other problem than kristo_ch feel free to ask....

Shame on me. So simple. Thanks lutzh.
simple if you know it. i always erase anything in start up in the first trials. trouble here was that i haven't got it back when i wanted it back

I don't get what's going on. Why aren't people playing nice?
The Tray can be made to not be present, by removing all tray-able apps.
However, the tray can be programmatically brute force hidden if required, even if full of apps.

255%
Hey VJ,
I too want a battery which I can charge beyond 100%!!! ;-)
I would have to adjust the e_stat app to show it though....
yeah, 255% battery is cool. You can see into the future. it's cold though, -5 degrees C
V
How do you get 100%. If I read the batstat I get a percentage.
And where did you get the temperature from?
Bye,
Thijs.
Doezel: temperature is built into the battery, from the battery api.
I don't understand the "100%" battery.
The 255% is coming just from the emulator having fits!
V
VJ:
I get it. I use evc4, and use getbatterylifepercent, which returns a value between 0 and 100. It's not a byte.
Which IDE do you use?
Ok, I am a big fan of windows mobile. I have used most such as BlackBerry, Palm, Symbian... There's only one piece of software I cannot seem to find for WinMobile. I would like to find something to make text messaging similar to the Treo or BlackBerry. Treat text messaging like instant messaging. Does anyone know of software that gives Windows Mobile the capability of this?

did you install the .NET Compact framework 2.0 first?
You can download it here

CF2 is required by a lot of other apps as well; see for example http://www.pocketpcmag.com/blogs/in...n_of_net_compact_framewo&more=1&c=1&tb=1&pb=1 for an almost complete list of the best CF2-dependent titles.
It wont let me install// I dont have free 24mgb internal program memory...
Having trouble installing Resco or Total commander also?
Thanks
NET CF 2.0 stinks. Too slow to load, etc. Maybe with AKU 3.2 it will be faster since it will be native, who knows.
The Palm app BLOWS all the other apps out of the water. Not even close. I hope you find the .cab, its worth it.
The Palm one dosnt require .NET Compact framework 2.0 ???
Anyone know where I can get the CAB?
i dont see or have any issues with netcfV2.0 yes its large, like 2meg, but i run programs that depend on it such as wififofum and hitchhiker, etc... i can choose the cab to install to my storage card and dont have any issues running the said programs.
and i do agree.. search very hard for the palm messaging app, this is one of my must install programs!! its fantastic!
Paul over at MoDaCo is starting to get some interest in a new application he's developing - basically it involves developers providing some XML with their installer that ties in with some similar XML on the applications' download page on their web server.
When a new version is released, the XML on the download page is updated, "AppToDate" will check the download server and you'll be able to see that a new version is available.......
AstraWare, Developer One and SK-Tools have already expressed an interest in making their software work with "AppToDate".......what are you waiting for!?!?!
I'll stop babbling, this is what Paul posted over at MoDaCo "AppToDate"
I have a dream! OK, so it's not quite as ground breaking as some other dreams of our time, but it's a dream none the less. It goes something like this...
I have a whole bunch of software on my device. Probably 15 apps at least. I also write software, which is downloaded by a fair few people, both commercial and free. I like to ensure that my software on my device is up to date with the latest versions, and it's a right pain in the ****. Not only that, I'd like my end users to have the latest versions installed to get the best possible experience... and to facilitate that I have to write a custom update checker into each of my applications. Fine for big apps, not great for quickly rustled up apps or tweaks.
But there could be another way.

What if you could have an application that lived on the device, that wasn't tied to any one application or vendor, that could check for updates for everything installed on your device? IMHO, that would be awesome. A dream. For such an approach to work, you'd need a few things...
Someone to write the update application, and to develop it. A community project perhaps?
The update application MUST be FREE for end users and developers
The update application MUST be easy for developers to plug in to
The application needs to be used by end users!
Freeware developers need to use the application!
Commercial developers need to use the application!
Now here comes the audience participation part - if you are a user, would you like to see such an application? If you are a developer - either freeware or commercial - would you like - and would you use - such an application? Make your voice heard here, and if there's an appetite for this, let's make it happen! I'll be updating this topic to list developers who would like to be involved.
Oh, I forgot to mention... I've basically written the update application! It's simple, has plenty of scope for future development, can update itself (of course) and in order to be used by a 3rd party, just needs an XML file dropped into the updater directory from your install CAB, and a current version XML on your server!
Beautiful! The response to this topic will determine how much time I spend on getting it production ready

Lend your support to this - with all the updates for various applications flying around, it's an almost impossible task to know if you're running the latest and greatest version - hopefully it will grow into a REALLY useful tool.

EDIT: UNDER DEVELOPEMENT AND WILL BE RELEASED WHEN READY! KEEP AN EYE ON THIS THREAD!!!!
Here's an idea... when you turn your phone off, it locks... when you turn it on, you must roll your thumb/finger to the right around the wheel of the diamond to unlock it...
as you wheel around, the white line around the circle begins to fill from the top, moving rightward around...
sorry for the poor image quality, i just threw it together as a thought.
I hope a developer can throw this together, prolly isn't hard at all and would really be cool for the diamond. Better graphics and glowing line ofcourse.
its simple and utilizes the unique hardware of the diamond, and also the pro.

anyone down to try and create it?
Wish i could, but i have no idea where to start. i'm in the dark here.
to clear up any confusion that may come up, the lights on the wheel itself don't need to light up as you wheel around... only the circle on the screen.
as you would pass a point on the wheel, another section of the ring on the screen would fill in.
Sounds like a good idea. Hope someone have the time to make it.
im sure that 'wheel-2-unlock' is one of the features of the TouchXperience ROM but it would take a long time for this rom to be released i guess.
TouchXperience is a ROM? Not just a cab installation?

CapacitiveFingerLock
I am working on such an idea already for a week or so:
CapacitiveFingerLock.
It will have another locking/unlocking mechanism on top of StylusLock, as described in this post:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=2681112&postcount=62
Because I am now on a business trip in America, I had not much time to work on the program. But I haven proven already that it works. I have to remove some stuff from the proven program, and integrate it with my already existing StylusLock. The goal is that it does NOT cost extra battery power and CPU and is really simple to use.
The reason to add this, is to have it possible to lock and unlock "one handed". The StylusLock approach cannot be done "one handed", e.g. on a bike. Also some people do not like to operate with the StylusLock. The combination with this new CapacitiveFingerLock and existing StylusLock will suit more people. And sometimes people will use the Stylus, so they will get the right behaviour depended on the usage.
Good idea, as I do not use any locks or such applications, but this one sounds nice. Just remember that this app should not conflict with, or somehow overcover and incomming call
