My display is progressively showing a mostly white, "washed out" display. It goes from completely normal to the washed out screen you can see in the attached pictures. (two "washed out" screens, followed by two normal) It happens much more frequently in portrait mode. When it first started happening, if I would open the keyboard just a little bit, the "white" would go away and the display would be nice and bright like it should be. At the time, it made me suspect the flex cable, so I disassembled the Hermes and made sure all connections are tight. That did not fix it and it is getting worse. Applying pressure to certain parts of the outside of the device can sometimes cause this to happen, other times it's completely random. Can anyone confirm if it is the LCD or flex cable? I don't mind replacing a part if I can be sure of the problem, but I don't want to waste my time and money if I can't be SURE it will fix the problem.
NO, I can not send it back to AT&T for warranty repair.

Hey guys,
I had recently taken my 8525 / hermes apart to fix the white screen problem.
As I had fixed the problem, the magnet that triggers landscape mode, had came unglued from wherever it was.
I had contacted HTC and tech support, but they are unable to tell me where this small rectangular magnet goes.
Does anyone have a clue or a parts repair Hermes / 8525 that they can help me with.
I need to get this fixed.
I appreciate anyones help.
Just getting a couple of pics for you please wait
Mike
Landscape magnet
You are a lifesaver.
I really appreciate it.
just wondering, how did you solve the white screen problem?
i had it months ago but i got a replacement under warranty...luckily
Landscape magnet
The problem occurs when the ribbon cable becomes loose.
All you have to do is take the unit apart and reseat the cable.
I've taken mine apart soo many times lately, its and easy process if it happens again.

My original screen showed through, but the colors were bad, it seemed like every other horizontal line was either off or grey. Hard to explain, I'll try and find a picture.
So, I replaced screen, and the one I got just lights up white. Bright white, thats all.
So I got a replacement for that 2nd screen (the first one still works at this point) and the 3rd screen lights up white, but with a kind of checkerboard pattern.
Somewhere along the line, I replaced the flex cable.
I really like this phone, and I have alot into it, so I'd like to fix it.

I found my old flex cable and tried it.
Nothing changes. One screen is white, one is white with a light checkerboard pattern.
I can't find my original screen, but I bet it still behaves the same. I might end up just using it thought
Crap. I found the original screen, and it shows up all white now.
I do have a picture of all the screens to make sure they are the same.
Both flexs have the same part number on them, and look identical. I have tried all three screens with both flexs. I get nothing but white, except the last screen, with that faint checkerboard.
today when I powered on my nook color I noticed it has big black two spots and some distorted lines. Here is the image:

It also looks like the screen cracked (white aslant line), though I have to say the front glass is perfectly fine (not even a scratch). I haven't used it for about a week and I don't remember having it dropped during that time. Does anyone know what is it? Is it even possible to have broken LCD with front glass being untouched?
I'm in Europe right now but I have valid warranty - does anyone know if there is any B&S support here or I have to send it to my family in US?
Wow looks pretty ****ed up.
Wish I could tell you whats wrong but to tell the truth, the best thing I could give you is a guess...

Yup. You're screen is pooched. You can try and find a 3rd party screen replacement overseas, but your best bet is to send it back to the states and see if you can get it repaired or replaced under warranty.
So my lg g2 fell from a height and the display had these colour changing stripes on it. When I press on the bottom part of the phone, near the LG logo, half of the stripes go away, and then comes back when I release the pressure. Also, when the screen stays on for a few minutes, the screen gets blurry and a slight green tinge is formed. I saw one thread where the problem was the radio wire touching the LCD circuit. But that wasn't in my case. So is my screen really gone or there is something I can try before getting it replaced?

you can try with a heat dryer, open it, remove battery main board....
And then what? I tried opening and saw that the general issue that is the white radio wire touching the lcd circuit is not the case in my phone. I also put a plastic piece of paper on it so it doesn't touch. Is there anything else I can do?

My Tab A 9.7 has lines/flickering through about 75% of the screen (closest to the home button). The screen is still usable (though barely at times) and fully responsive to touch. I've seen some reports of a loose connection internally, but nobody seems to have the same issue as I do. Some pictures are below:

Any idea if this is repairable/what the fix would be?
Hello
First of all, if you did drop it from a considerable hight it ma be a loose connector, if not, did you flash something and after that the screen started making this lines ?
Your best move will be checking your warranty, if it doesn't apply to your tab any more, try opening it and checking for any loose connectors, mainly the screen ribbon, before that try to look for a teardown instructions for the tab, sometimes they put the cables in places where it's easy to damage if you open the device without any knowledge of how to do it safely.
I had a similar problem on a samsung phone and in my case the screen was faulty, it shows flickering bright lines just like your tab. Replacing the screen fixed the issue.
Good luck
If you broke or dropped the device, then that might be the problem. If not, then it's probably because of the firmware.
If you have not broke or dropped the device, then go to Updato.com and press OS Updates and then type in your device model and it should take about 5 minutes or more to download.
Hope I helped.
