try opera mini, works well for me. free and very easy to use. finger movement and zoom also can take over pie for downloads
Picsel Browser
hey wuub:
My picsel browser just seems slow all of the time. I've had a lot better luck with PIE on speed.
I used picsel for a while, until i found opera mini 4. It is much faster than picsel. It keeps your page in the desktop-like layout, but also formats the text so that it is readable (without having to pan around) when zommed in.
opera mini 4 is my suggestion, with esmertec jbed as your midlet manager
Hey Sturatt:
thnx for the info. Does Opera mini work well on the ppc's? I was looking at Opera's website & it looked like Opera Mobile was more for wm6 (but costs money) & Opera mini was more for the smartphones (and was free). PIE just doesn't do well for me but picsel really seems slow compared to PIE.
i have a mogul (ppc6800) and opera mini works great.
just install jbed, then go to www.operamini.com on your phone's IE, navigate to the opera mini 4 page and download (by default it goes to opera mini 3, you have to select a link to get to opera mini 4).

Yes, Picsel IS slow - and has tons of other problems (low Web standards compliance, for example). I don't really recommend it. Opera Mini 4 is far better - in my opinion, of course.
Hi,
what you guys this is the best web browser for HTC Touch?
I think the Picsel Browser is very good.
Pls. tell us your best browser.
Thanks!
I've been using Opera.
I think opera mini right now but I think skynet or opera mobile 9 soon will be in the coming months. Both promising full browsing and skynet will be free
I think you mean skyfire browser.
Can some one tell me the difference between:
Picsel and Opera?

Yeah, no Skynet browser please. We turn over control of our web browsing to them and before you know it they'll be self aware and launching our nukes against us. Judgment day. Then they'll activate Arnold to come back in time and kill you, because you are the future leader of mankind.
Ahhh, which browser
I actually like all of them IE, Opera, NetFront...
I have found that depending on the particular website, one will work better than the other. IE works just fine for a lot of websites and has the best compatibility. Opera is great for certain websites that IE just can't display properly. NetFront works best on (poorly written) websites that have too many damn frames and cutsie html features that only impress the person who made the website. The beauty is you can install and use more than one browser to make sure you get into the websites you need. (iPhone can't do that...) I, btw, need to link into my work with Citrix and the Touch is the only phone I know that can do it. I am the envy of my colleagues at work!
I will look for this Skyfire...?

I signed up for the beta but nothing yet.
Have you checked out the video preview of Opera Mobile 9.5. It looks great and the notes says it supports flash, unfortunately they didn't demo that in the video.

Yes! Awesome! It's a great new world we live in! Every week something pops up that raises the bar. The hard part is waiting! HA!
Incidentally, I just loaded No2Chem's WM6.1clean ROM and IE seems to do everything better and faster.

Hey guys what is the best browser on the vogue? opera, netfront, picsel?
Im waiting for my skyfire beta code btw cant wait to get it.
Opera mini 4 is great ---Skyfire was buggy,
already deleted it.
Don't like Netfront.
Opera 9.33 look promising.
But my favourite is still Opera Mini 4, very fast and very reliable. Ok so it doesn't support flash etc. but hey this is a phone!
I like NetFront. It hast a fast page load, nice zoom in out feature, and works well for forum and news sites. Still no flash but, no body has that working perfectly yet for PPC.

because its on BETA skyfire has it in its agreement that they can keep records of all and every website you access- so they can see what people use and access most

With netfront .. can you zoom in and out of the page like with picsel Browser? Only option I see is the zoom (25/50/75%) style not drag and zoom style

Yes, when you double tap on the webpage, it'll zoom out and show the whole page in the foreground and the zoomed in part in the background. You have to see to understand. I've tried opera 9.5 beta and netfront. Netfront is better right now for format when zoomed in view, although the latest opera beta is an improvement. Haven't seen skyfire yet, but I've read that it's not living up to the hype.
i love my picsel browser but it used to be slow as hell!! after a rom update and registry tweaks i got it as fast as opera so its sweet!!!! i just wish you could download straight from the browser otherwise id delete opera mobile, but opera mobile is the best browser pound for pound
I am a big fan of irisbrowser
Opera Mobile 9.5 hands down
If you really really use the browser to surf the web, the only real choice is Internet explorer. The others are really fancy but, for the majority of the website, reflow on IE work much better and a lot more stable.
Opera Mobile 9 will be the best when they came out. I am using the beta version it is great! It has zoom capability and reflow together!
Zooming alone like Netfont doesn't help if you really really us it to surf the web.
The other one hasn't been out of beta yet.
skyfire is hands down the best. i have experienced no bugs thus far and have not found a single site that does not work with it.

I just gave Irisbrowser a try. It's suprisingly good and fast. I'm astounded that this is the first time i'm hearing about it.
I find myself using Skyfire for most things. It really works well, especially for Digg and Drudge Report. The only problem is that the code on some pages it seems prevent Skyfire from properly reformatting the text to fit in the zoom window, so you have to scroll all over to read them. The most annoying place this occurs is Google Reader - there is just no good way to view this site on Skyfire that I have found. However, Opera 9.5 can view the iPhone interface of Google Reader (www.google.com/reader/i (instead of /m), so I use that when I'm browsing RSS. The version of Netfront I had was buggy, and cut off my data connection somehow when I minimized the app (couldn't get mail, check the HTC home weather, etc.). Prolly just a bad build, but Skyfire and Opera kill it anyway.
ok i have the verizon vogue or xv6900. what browser is best for that device cuz i went to operamini.com and said this wasnt a compatible device

"Better"? In what way? Opera Mobile works "better" as a fully fledged browser, but it is slow.
Opera mini is fantastic for what it does. It's very quick compared to Opera Mobile thanks to data compression. Whether it's through GPRS, HSDPA or even wireless Mini is "better" in terms of speed of download and display when viewing webpages.
I'm trying to think of a way to word this without sounding rude; Please don't post if all you're going to do is tell someone not to use the application they have chosen to use, rather than provide an answer to the question.
He probably has his reasons for using Mini, and you your reasons for using Mobile. But that's simply not the question he asked.
I would say those browsers compliment each other.
OperaMobile great for full desktop experience plus flash, but also sucks data as hell and battery too. Pitty it crashes often since it's - still - beta.
OperaMini works in almost every condition. Does not have many OperaMobile features but is great for everyday usage.

thanks guy for the helps, the reason i asked because i am using X1A updated with new software and the opera mobile does not works on some websites, i am still looking for the opera mini cab ,does any know please share
there is no opera mini cab. you will have to download the program from the opera site. the files or jad and jar. i believe you need like a seperate program to install this if you down load the jad and jar files.

I will have to repeat my post, some of you might have missed it.
There is a cab which installs opera mini and gets rid of that connection message.
Try the first link, open the zip file and install the cab file on your phone.
Good luck
I want to use Opera Mobile, but I can't figure a way to sync my desktop bookmarks with this version. Therefore, I'm stuck with Opera Mini. Has anyone found a way to do bookmark sync on Opera Mobile?
Thanks.
yup, i did miss your post. i guess we do have a cab for opera mini

its faster over wifi but I don't think it's as quick over gprs.
Its definitely getting better each release though.
I still use netfronts' simple browsing for things like forums, nothing is a quick as that one..

Try again, they update quite often. I use it sometimes since it can display anything. It has perfect javascript functionality.
I use Opera Mini for common browsing, but when I find a page it has troubles with, Opera Mobile usually has problems too.
Still Opera Mobile is best adapted to screen size and touch controls. Give me Opera Mobile with compatibility of Iris and I will be happy.

Just did. I still don't like it . It feels uncomfortable to work with, and has much less options than the Opera. I keep it installed though, along with other browsers, in case my Opera brakes down hehe.
right now, Iris is only great for Iphone optimized sites... for everything else, Opera is the way to go.

i think you should give ucweb a try. its tiny and it does not require JAVA and its much more funtional than opera mini
its a really good secondary (when on EDGE or 3G) efficient browser.
good 4-min video review http://pocketnow.com/index.php?a=portal_detail&t=news&id=7232
It is a very good browser, and a fast one. It definitely renders HTML better than Opera Mobile 9.5. It works very good with X1.
My only concern is that when I double tap a page, the zoom is not to 100%, but less. I mean the image I see after a double tap is smaller than if I choose zoom to 100%. Anyone having the same issue?
I use Iris for few months and must say - it's getting better and better. Still it's not a perfect browser - but show me one that is. I'm waiting for update which can allow to watch youtube movies directly from pages like www.pocketnow.com etc. Now for those pages I use Skyfire.
Does it have embedded Flash support, like on desktop browser? Any news on such upcoming feature?
http://www.torchmobile.com/products/faq/
How do I make YouTube work?
YouTube's standard desktop version requires Flash 9 or above. This is not available for Windows Mobile. If you leave the browser in Mobile Mode (Page->View->Mobile Mode in the menu), you can visit YouTube and will be redirected to the mobile edition. If you happen to have the FlashLite 3 ActiveX control installed, Iris Browser will automatically use it and videos should work.
For youtube.com I use Zenyee application. More usefull would be possibility of playing implanted movies on sites. This is possible for now with Skyfire and Mach5 I suppose.
