disfunct touchscreen prevents new rom setup - 8125, K-JAM, P4300, MDA Vario General

Is there anything I can do to get passed this issue?
I have a cingular 8125 with a damaged touchscreen. I can see everything, but only the buttons work. I tried flashing it, and all was successful, except now it's stuck at the "tap screen to begin" screen, and it won't move on allowing me to actually use the phone.

Heli screen alignment after installing WM6

After having installed the latest wm6 from the update. followed by hard rest I got to screen alignment and it seems to keep asking align screen which I have done over 20 times and I can not get out of it even with new hard set.
Any sugestings or help please.
I forgot to mention the center point is some times not responding.
Thank you
I had the same problem, but found that if you can remove the HTC Album then you can align like normal.
I have the same problem on a wizard.
After a while I realized that there must be something wrong with the hardware.
Whenever I turn the screen on, it opens the Message pane, or whatever is configures on the right top hard button. Then if I turn it off and on, it moves to Outlook . Next time to MMS, etc.
Then, when I press the center button, it opens the align screen, but after I finish aligning, it works fine for a while.
I tried Flashing it many times, with differnt rooms, even the offial ones, and it didn't solve the problem. I also tried dismounting it all, talking all the parts apart and nothing.
Anyboday has any clue about this?
make an oem that auto aligns the screen in personal oemizer. See if that works. So that on the initial boot from hard reset it skips that screen.
I did it on mine and it worked fine but I also never had a problem aligning the screen with the kitchen either.

How do you bypass first setup/screen alignment?

I've got a MDA which has a broken lcd. Its just cracked slightly, but still displays fine. I did a Clear Storage and now the phone has reset and is giving me the "tap here to set up your device" wizard. I need to bypass this and any screen alignment that may come up since the LCD touch feature no longer works. I've done it before when I got the phone, but I cant find the thread nor remember the steps.
Any help is appreciated.

Strange Issue with Screen Alignment

Recently got a new job and in storage was an old (thought to be broken) Cingular 8100. I figured I could use the parts and hack together my old MDA (USB port broke off of main board). Before doing any of this I flashed it back to the original Cingular ROM and thats when I noticed the issue with why the original owner thought it was broken. The screen alignment wizard would not pass, you could sit there forever and keep hitting the points on the screen and nothing. I used this tool to get around the alignment screen:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=355010
and found that nothing I did would fix it. So I pulled out my old MDA and popped the screen and digitizer on to the 8100 and still had the issue. Weird. Downloaded Manilla 4 ROM and flashed, still having the issue. Even more weird. Looked back over the post from above and on a whim, connected up via CERegEditor and popped in the Reg entries listed in the thread and soft reset. Problem solved!!! Although, without being able to do the alignment without a soft reset the ext rom did not run properly since it was soft reset before it could run.
I still found it weird that the reg entries did not come over with the ROM so I did another flash and bam, problem came back. Ran the utility again to bypass the screen alignemnt and after looking deeper I found that while in Vertical mode, the screen thought it was in landscape, and while in landscape it thought it was in vertical. Flashed again but when the alignment came up, I did not press where the pointers were, I pressed where the pointer would have been in landscape mode even though it was in vertical mode and it let me through. Ext ROM installed, reset, connected with CERegEditor and entered the correct reg entries from the post and bam, everything is working.
So I guess the screen alignment data stored in the REG are not part of the ROM??? Can anyone shed some light on that?

HELP! Touch screen no longer working!

This morning, my touch screen suddenly stopped working. Hardware keys are still working but device is not responding when the screen is touched. Already tried a hard reset but no success, now I am stuck at the align display screen. Also can no longer get to the bootmenu, so can't reflash my device! Any suggestions on what's wrong or how this can be fixed? Thanks for any help!!!!
I'm curious
Didn't you see any spots (like oil spots on the water) to the touch screen ?
I had the same problem .I replaced the touch screen and the phone is working again .
No, nothing, was working fine at night, when i woke up just randomly stopped working. The display is not cracked or anything, so wondering whether a screen replacement will do the trick? ALso strange that I can no longer get to the bootscreen to enter HardSPL...
Had the same problem, the issue (with mine anyhow) was the digitizer, which is an overlay that sits on top of the actual LCD screen to give it touch capability....
good post here

I had a similar problem,
To get past the Align screen I had to apply pressure to the top of the screen opposite side of front facing camera - then use the screen as normal
I reflashed the original rom (manually getting to bootloader) - it worked for a bit but ended up sending is back to 02 for repair.
All they did apparently, was to reflash the ROM again and its been working since.
Had the same problem a couple of times a while ago, when i was trying out WM6.5.
All buttons worked but not the touch screen. Never really found out exactly what the problem was, but the first time I managed to get it working again by resetting the alignment:
While gps button pressed (under green button), press center D-pad button this will bring you to alignment screen.
The other time the "alignment trick" didn't work, but i got it working again, after flashing the original ROM couple of times. (And doing hard reset between each time)
I think I used this ROM
You say you can't get to the boot menu, do you run hard-SPL?
most likely its an hardware issue - had this one too, of course out of nowhere!
flash with original rom and if you cannot align screen (as the hardware seems to be broken) send it in for repair. it will be under guarantee, if screen isnt broken.
I had similar problem, I passed the alignment but i had a huge offset in the touch.
I replaced the touch screen and it solved the problem.
You can find it in ebay for 1 US $.

Click to collapse
Thanks for all the help guys!!! I do run hard-SPL and have flashed many ROMS - just don't know why it won't enter the bootscreen anymore when I reset the device and press the camera button. Did manage to upload original ROM again by using activesync, now trying to restore original hard-SPL so I can send off the device for repair.
Hi, i had also the same problem, i find a threat in the internet... try to push the upper corners on the device with your fingers and then tab on the screen to see if the problem solved.
I had the same issue.
Its more than likely your digitizer. I tried flashing 100 different roms but always stuck at the align screen stage.
I actually have the barely used digitizer if anyone wants it (for a few dollars of course hehe) My mainboard died a couple of weeks after i installed the digitizer.
needless to say i moved away from the ****ty build quality of HTC to the MUCH better build quality of the iPhone.

Touchscreen problem!?

Hello everybody,
i have a problem with my hd2.. my touchscreen doesnt react anymore. My phone crashed yesterday and i rebooted it. After that, i cant push any "button" on the screen. even after a complete wipe of my hd2 and a installation of a new android rom, it doesnt react
Is my screen faulty or is it a "software problem"?
Thanks for your help.
very often hardware, but to check, go back to (correct) stock and see if it still doesnt work, if it still doesnt work on winmo, its broke.
