Hello all,
Does anyone have any guides on replacing the backup battery?
This is my problem:
Last couple of days my O2 XDA II Mini has reported that the backup battery has completely drained and needed to be either recharged or replaced. This is strange (well to me anyway) because the mains battery has still plenty of juice left (something like more than 80%).
Todays episode, i hadn't even used the O2 for 1 hour when it reported again that the backup battery was flat. The mains battery still had 87%.
After a bit more investigation i have discovered that the backup battery hasn't actually drained but is loose. When i give my O2 a slight tap the backup battery magically appears !
Now the question is......
Does anyone have any ideas on how to replace the backup battery and/or check the actual connection of it to ensure that it doesnt magically lose power ?
Any help would be most appreciated !
that thing happens to my mini too, but it only pop up after reset. But, because it doesn't affect much as long my main batt still have power so I kind of ignore it though...
that happens to me as well sometimes. the real problem (for me anyway) is that when i have to replace the main battery and the backup battery isnt being picked up.
i then have to either find a power source to re-charge my main battery (which is pointless - because i have two batteries just for this purpose) or i have to re-install of my programs, contacts etc because the backup battery isnt functioning properly.
did you by any chance open your magician lately or have your casing replaced? one reason that happened to me was that when i had my magician repaired, the connection of the internal battery somehow got loose... i just tap it and my internal battery status returns to 100%... if you can open you magician, try pushing the lead connector on top of the internal battery to have more contact...
no, the case is still the original case. i till try and open it up and see if that is the problem though
The Phone Rings.. Then Dead..
I think the problem is the internal backup battery was weak/dropped.
As the manual book said, that the internal backup battery will hold your data approx. 30 minutes after you loose the main battery.
Backup battery no voltaje

Hi!
As I opened my old Magician (and destroyed the display connector ) some time ago I found out that the battery cover can be pulled up carefully with a screwdriver. After this you can replace the backup battery with a similar one. I didn't try this but it should be possible.

Replacing backup battery
Yea that picture is definately the backup battery.
You can pry it out quite easily.
My problem is that i have corrosion (white powder, oxidation from when it is charged) on mine. Everytime i take out the main battery out to replace it, it hard resets. It definately needs a replacment battery cover and repalcement battery.
The other problem is i cant seem to source the battery and cover in Australia.
Problems are getting much worse as the years go on... sigh,
I'm just using this phone till the Meizu M8 one comes out.

OK, so I have just bought an XDA II on Ebay, and my backup battery appears to be stuck at 0% (I am going to try charging for longer to see if that helps, but not confident.)
How do I get to the backup battery without damaging the PDA, and anyone know the cheapest place to buy a replacement if jiggling the connector does not help? I'm in the UK.
Thanks!
hard reset when battery pulled out
hi guys! i just bought an item from ebay too, it's an xda IIs. i also have a hard resetting problem, but mine's a bit different. it's just that whenever the battery's pulled out (loose battery lock), it hard resets EVERY TIME! i came across some threads regarding this, they said it was the internal battery's problem. i checked my internal battery level and it's at a full 100% capacity. anyone has an idea how to fix this problem? it would be a great help guys! thanks in advance!
can you help me
where i can get the back up battery for O2 Xda II Mini?

ok, on my xda mini s, if i plug the charger in at 2% to 99% it charges fine
but, i let the battery go so dead that it wont charge. so i bought another one and it did the same
is there a software fix for this? can i charge the batteries another way? both are only 6 weeks old and charge fine in my mates mini s (one of the first ones) mine is only 6 weeks old
its now getting very annoying
thanks
What are you running? G3 or G4, IPL/SPL, ROM version??
hi mate
ipl 2.21.001
spl 2.21.001
gsm 0.2.07.10
os 2.21.4.1
so just to clarify, I think there needs to be a tiny amount of power the the device to power it enough to recognise the charger is plugged in
i have 2 batteries with 0% energy - none will charge. The 3rd battery charges fine if more then 1% is left before I stick the charger in
thanks
Actually my boss had the same problem with his 8125. He was running wi-fi & music and it killed the battery all the way dead. I don't think there's a fix. He had to buy a new battery.

Looks like mfrazzz has the answer!
wow, ok i am a nuby and you might not like the solution but, every time my battery runs out completely and i cant charge it, disconnect the charger trust me on this one, lick the top of the charger connect it back and at first it will show a red light leave it there for about 4 minutes, then disconnect it and connect it back and your battery will start chargin again. trust me on this one ive done it like 4 times.

I guess I'll leave it in for about 2 min... no... 3 min... oooo I think 4 min would be perfect.. then I'll unplug it and ummm... plug it back in!! Oh yeah!! That will do it!!!
Just kidding around!!!
wow, amazing stuff thanks
can i get an external charger/docker for the batteries?
do ALL these devices have the same problem or just the newer ones? my old one didnt do it (unless it still had some power in it)
Thanks
There is both a battery charger that you stick your battery in and a cradle that charges both your Wizard and also has a slot for a second battery. I couldn't find the single battery charger, but the dock can be found by searching for 8125 twin cradle.

Ok, on my 8125 with the battery oriented exactly how it sits in the phone, the + is the top most contact and the - is the bottom most contact.
Here's a pic of a battery I found and you can just make out the + (red) / - (black) on the pic.

Hi,
I forgot my prophet @ home, turned on, and i travelled for one month. When i returned, is completly dead.
Any sugestions?
Thanks
Plug it in to the wall, ignore the lack of red light, leave for at least 24 hours. Pray.
or borrow another battery from somewhere, try with that.

Well... If nothing else help, take out battery from prophet,
find what is + and what is -, use some DC voltage 8-12V
DIRECTLY + from DC supply to + battery, - to -. Keep like this for
15-20 seconds then put battery back to prophet.
Then connect to charger.
This is not so good to do with battery often but up to now
similar things like yours happened to me few times with other stuff:
lap tops, mobile phones, GPS and so on. Nothing else helped except
"shock" to the battery. Even this type of battery will survive without any damage.
Just to remind you (and others): DO NOT DO THIS OFTEN and
NOT LONGER THAN 30 seconds.
yes ... this work ... but please ... do not use more then 5V for less secounds!
12v is to high for a 3,7 cell :-> they are built for only 4,1v maximum voltage!
note! this issue can bring your lipo to explode/blast! the best way to bring a undervoltages lipo to work, is to use a lipo charger. only with a powersupply without amper limiter is a very dangerous way! it can damage your fingers if you hold it!
i have blast some cells for 1 year ago and they work very well for newyear!
Do u guys think It will work here

Well... At least you could try, there is nothing to lose.
About voltage: yes battery is 3.7V and yes it is not recommended to connect anything directly. But... This "trick" helped me so many times. And for short time, beleive me, you could connect up to 12V. But be carefully. If you experience any abnormal heat of the battery just stop. But, again, nothing bad will happened for 15, 20 seconds. And just to remind you: CONNECT TO THE BATTERY WHEN BATTERY IS OUT OF PROPHET. DO NOT CONNECT ANYTHING TO THE PROPHET OR BATTERY CONNTACTS ON THE PROPHET.

Hey THX bro,
Now how will i figure out which is the +ve in the batt and -ve in the batt..
So I understand positive of an source of 3.7v goes to +ve of the battery and negative of the source goes to -ve RIGHT
Also yesterday I noted another thing .
Even If I remove the batt and connect the wall charger the NEO still shows a red light.
Do u think this is normal..(can u try this like just remove the batt and put the to NEO to wall charger)
even after installing the batt the NEO just shows red light and it does not get heated at all.
THANK YOU. it just worked with me, for the past week my phone was dead and i lost my charger, i just did it your way with...
5V, 6W adapter, it worked (1st time i did it for 15 secs, didnt work, 2nd time for 25 secs )
thnx again
Can anyone tells me where is the +ve & -ve on the battery, There are 6 pads on the battery

well you just have to use an electrical "tester" if you dont know how to you can bring your battery to an electrician and let him figure out what is + and - for you ( be sure to mark it out )

Just got my SGS2, I played with it for about 10 minutes and the battery died.
I figured it would because it was new and I hadnt charged it yet, so no big deal.
Then I plug it in.
For the last 45 minutes, it has been flashing this screen then going black.
I can't do anything

I wouldn't know, but no new phone is supposed to act like that.
Have you tried pulling the battery or booting into recovery? Also try another usb cable or wall outlet, maybe it's not getting a charge. Make sure the usb port is clean. I'm sorry but I don't have a definitive solution.
I had the same issue after 2 weeks of use when i was on a business trip!!!. I left the phone plugged in overnight and it charged. As far as i remember id displayed full charge next day but actually it was not fully charged (i guess it was about 20%). So after a couple of recharge cycles it worked ok.

I just had this happen today on my ATT Galaxy S II. But what happened was I let the battery almost drain and I had a brand new oem battery that I had charging over night. So with the old battery in I rebooted into recovery wiped battery stats and powered off. I then put the new battery in and when I plugged it in it was stuck at this screen. It seems to be charging though and how you can bypass it is unplug it and just hold the power button down for like 10 seconds it will reboot.
But the question is.. will it go back to normal and show that it's actually charging for everyone? or did some get stuck for good? Since the thread is old I'm sure you guys have either gotten yours replaced or after a while it just started working normally again. So I'm curious on how to fix it. It's happening with both batteries on this phone now but work fine in another phone
May be let it charge and then calibrate your battery

Had the exact same issue when I bought mine... Turned out I had not plugged the battery correctly. Just try removing the battery and put it back.

I got it working again. I think thee might be a bug with CWM or CM when you wipe battery stats/recreates them. I restored to the bone stock rom and the icon started animating again. I restored CM 7 which was the version I wiped the bat stats and it stopped working again. I then just reflashed CM on top and it started working again go figure Thanks guys
I had faced that problem too.Just try plugging out and in the battery and start the phone.Make sure the battery is fixed into it's place. If it is still not working, continue the plug-out and in the battery and start the phone again.Try it for several times. It will work. When i was in that situation,i thought mine was BRICK.Hopefully replugging the battery fixed this problem.
Another situation is when i plug in a fully charged battery,it only shows 60 percent after booting. After replugging the battery,it just got right back to 99.
Good stuff - when I bought my phone, the first charge took so long.
Is it true that the wall charger charges the phone faster than the USB charger? (just something I have noticed).
Thanks
Hi, I bought the 64 GB chinese version about a year ago. Today I was using it on the street like I normally do and when I arrived home, I was going to check whatsapp and my phone was just dead. I held the power button for more than 10 seconds and it didn't do anything. I tried to connect it to my PC but it didn't even appear as an USB device. It seems like a hardbrick or a hardware failure. I don't know what to do, I've just let it charging hoping the best.
I was using the last AOSP extended build.
UPDATE:
I don't know what really happened with my phone, I opened it up and tried to extract the battery. It started to bend a bit beacuse the glue was too strong so I connected it again and holded the power button for a last try. It worked, I don't know why but bending the battery fixed the problem.
UPDATE 2:
Ok, it died again I've just ordered a new battery because now it doesn't fix bending it.
I ordered this battery, I googled about the manufacturer and they seem reliable. I bought this one because I don't trust the "original" ones which are sold in aliexpress. I'll tell you how it works when it arrives.

UPDATE 3:
The battery finally arrived so I installed it and the phone wasn't powering up. I think it's not a battery problem because I blended the phone a bit and somehow it worked. I'm backing up all my data before it stops working again.
I shouldn't have threw the original battery to the trash, maybe it was ok.
I've been testing the phone a bit and a blue screen appeared so I had to reboot it. What does that mean?
UPDATE 4:
The phone died again the same day I installed the new battery. I was so done this problem that I bended it too much and the front and back glasses broke.
I ordered a new one which arrived today. It's the 6GB RAM 128GB ROM this time. I hope I won't have to deal with this weird problem again. I think it was a mainboard problem.
Thanks to everyone who tried to help.
Had you dropped it accidently anytime? The battery connectors might have become loose then?
Do you see any signs of battery failing? If it has disformed even a little you might need to replace it. In my country I can get my hands on 3900mAh or 4100 mAh for about 18-23 Euros which I believe is cheap!

Yeah but, as I said before, it was working perfectly fine until I arrived home.
I had the same issue .. at the beginning the following worked for me : I disconnected the battery and connect the charger . after 2-3 times of connect and disconnecting the charger the LED was back alive (red). Then I connect the battery and the phone startet Up.
But now this doesn't work anymore .. the battery is not the issue, cause if you add the charger without the battery the light should be red.
Now I ordered a new charging port dock connector, but I think that the Mainboard have a defect .. maybe cause of the heating issues or cause of a drop.
On AliExpress you get a "new" Mainboard for ~120€ ..so you can better buy a new phone.
Or maybe someone wants to sell his mind note 2 with a broken screen .. ?! PM me

I neither think it's a charging port problem because, when I connected the charger the mainboard, it had some electric current in it so it might be a mainboard issue. I ordered another Mi Note 2 because I really liked this phone and also bought the battery and front glass replacement so I don't want to throw them to the trash.
Now I'm trying to figure how to recover the data I couldn't back up from the broken phone.
Hello. Recently I decided to pick up my old Nexus 4 again and try seeing what happened to it.
I was using my Nexus 4 one day and dropped it from my bed, about a foot or so, and it just cut out.
I opened it up to find out that the battery cable had snapped because I had done an earlier battery repair, and forgot that I should have let the cable slack a little bit.
A few months later I get a replacement battery, and tried booting on the phone. It would get to the lock screen and say the phone is critically low, and shut off.
TWRP said the battery was at 80% charge, but the UI was flickering a bit. I asked the XDA Discord and was told it was a storage failure.
A few more months pass by to now, and I decide to try and revive my N4. I want to see if maybe the battery was seated wrong, it could've been.
I reseated the battery and tried plugging in the phone. Now, I get a solid red light, that changes to flashing, and then nothing. or a flashing light that stays flashing.
I have not gotten past this. Is the battery toast, or is the phone toast? Can I test the phone without buying another replacement battery? Thanks.

You can try getting a V+ measurement from the battery to get an idea of it's condition.
If it won't charge it's cable or connectors may be damaged.
Even if the battery failed it should take some charge. Obviously it's producing some voltage but maybe not enough to boot.
If the battery seems to take a charge allow it the charge overnight and see what it's voltage level is. If it still won't boot it's either the battery or hardware damage, but doing this would give you more information to make a call.

Check the other ribbon cables, port jack/pcb, mobo etc. carefully for damage or looseness.

I was able to get the phone booting, but now when i try and start android it immediately says "Power Off" "Shutting Down"
now what? bad battery? it's plugged in, it shouldn't do that.

May be the battery as it may draw quit a bit of current when booting.
More than the charger may be able to sink.

Phones working, forgot to say this on Monday. Although the battery percentage is fluctuating after charging overnight under LOS 15 and 17, no clue why.
New battery's dead. I'll try and get another.
I know this thread's old, but i'll just update my results with this:
She's cooked.
I got the new battery, worked fine for a bit, but the battery percentage was completely jank and would go up and down. Not too long later, it doesn't even boot. I'm guessing the EMMCs fried. If I find a smashed up Nexus 4 locally i'll for sure do a mobo swap since mine's in really good shape physically.
