i think this guy means, why in the hell does aplle has such nice apps and for certain nice games for such a crappy phone.. And while our super Diamond doesn't have any cool games except the games from 20 years ago when our pc's were still working on the first windows edition.. I mean come on..
No effence on the people on this forum who are making such nice apps and games.. Cause you guys rock!! and make my diamond look more amazing!!
In that i must give apple a cheer, cause htc has developed a verry nice phone but a lack on software and games.. Cause why does my diamond has such good hardware but there's no software to play with it..
iphone the world talk about. That's why it going to get more games than htc diamond. htc diamond is more for insider for fan. I have iphone and htc diamond. I use most of the time htc diamond. But I think iphone is better. Just htc has win mobile. Which I can have more prog than iphone. but it will change.

*sigh* It's bad enough that tiesku's posted his nonsense, but it's worse that you're bizarrely willing to apologise for him without, apparently, even Googling for five minutes:

I think people seem to forget (or don't know) that the Diamond is a Windows Mobile and doesn't need Diamond specific apps/games (apart from missing functions like g-sensor).

You've seen the games on the apple site and even dare to compare with the crap wich you even have to pay for, don't get me wrong if it is a good nice looking game okey, but this is rubbish.. i mean the diamond does have a graphics accelerator card though? Games on the apple site you can play them with g-sensor, steering gas brake that kind of stuff.. I have some games on my diamond to, but i mean why doesn't htc design some programs or games for their Diamond?? They could make a lot of money with that to.. thats what i'm saying.. developing a good machine, but leave it there.. no apps or games for the diamond..

Because HTC are a hardware company, not a sodding software publisher that's why! They're not in the market of making games any more than Ford design tyres or sell paint.

No one has 'left it there', there are shedloads of games and applications all over the place for the Windows Mobile platform; indeed there's far, far more available than there is or probably ever will be for the iPhone.
I have a HTC Diamond and love it....but for games I use my PSP...
Come on you have to admit, Windows mobile games are pretty basic compared to....These Iphone screen shots

Irony...I love it!
Sorry but i would never pay for a WM Game. They are really crap. My girlfriend has the 2g iphone and i've got the diamond. I was rubbin it in her face that i was getting the best mobile phone(Diamond).I Was Wrong. But to be honest i'm really thinking of getting rid of it for the 3g iphone.
The games and apps on iphone are far superior. Graphics and gameplay! Plus there's loads.
No video calls on iphone. So what, video calling is probably the crappest invention. I don't know anybody that uses it.
Iphone has gps using Google maps which aint too bad.On the Diamond I have had a gps fix one and i've tried every Radio version. Could be where i live but iphone works here.
Diamond has a better screen resolution. GREAT! No not really. Crap how small is the screen. Besides the iphone looks miles better quality.
Don't get me wrong i love both phones. I'm not a h8r.
Just stating the facts.
One more thing.
If the Diamond was as stable as the iphone. People wouldn't have to spend all there time cooking roms instead of using there time to make Brilliant games.
Thanks for reading just wanted to have my say. Plz don't think i'm starting an arguement
You're entitled to your opinion doinbox and I respect that, but having tried both the iPhone 3G and HTC TD I'm sticking with the TD. It can do so much more than the iPhone. Here's just a few of its advantages, IMHO
Sync with my office documents,
Picture messaging
Video
Cut and paste
Swappable battery
Bluetooth stereo music (A2DP)
Has a higher, sharper screen res, which helps me big style.
A better camera
Physically it's also noticebaly smaller and fits easily in my jeans pocket,
the iPhone is quite big by comparison.
If I just wanted to play the arcadey style games on an iPhone I'd buy a PSP instead.
Blah blah blah.. iPhone vs Diamond again.. But you all are right. We need better games for our Diamond
Iphone
Hi there,
I don't see the issue of the initial poster here. There are far more games/apps (and by god better ones) available for Windows mobile and there always will be.
The IPhone is a peace of crap in a nice jacket and with s*** loads of PR thats wy it's popular but it doesn't make it less crappy. They make you pay for every little thing and in the end they will make you pay even more. If you want that then thats fine, i don't.
doinbox:
Code:

I hate to bring this to you because this is a straight out lie.
People make Roms because they like to fiddle around with OS stuff and to twink the hell out of it for fun, they don't do this because the Diamond would need it, a 1.93 stock rom runs perfectly stable and fast.
It is time for you to wake up and get ur facts strait. The Touch Diamond beats the Iphone in every way possible (hardware/software).
Just the fact that we lucky bastards can even change our own OS makes the Diamond superior over the IPhone in my book.

That made me laugh.
I'm Quite sure the biggest htc diamond fan in the world would admit its not perfectly stable and fast.
Didn't You read my post properly. I own a Diamond so i know from my own use its not stable. Funnily enough i just had it replaced today because it kept crashing on me. Even with l8st firmware.
I like the Diamond but i have paid for games and apps and none of them are better graphics than iphone games such as monkeyball or crash bandicoot kart or the fish app the water looks so real when you touch it. You post a link here to an app/game with graphics that good that would run on diamond and i'll hold my hands up and say i'm wrong. But i've seen and tried every game on wm6 and i know i wont be seeing a link from you.
Stop being so defensive over the Diamond everyone knows its full of problems. Well maybe not on the Hardware side, but WM6.1 is Terrible and nobody can deny that.
doinbox
I won't go into a flamewar with you, if you like IPhone thats fine with me. I love my Diamond and i think its way better then the Iphone maybe the right software for it is getting there a bit slow, so what ....

guys, guys, what's the point arguing?
we all know there are people who adore iphone and there are people who wouldn't trade their touch xy for the world. these two phones are simply aiming each at a little different clientele, and let's leave it at that. otherwise it's just an ideological discussion...
as for the games, the thing about the wm games is that there are thousands of them, some better, some worse, but because (naturally) the majority of them has been developed for the wm 5 or even 2002/2003 editions, they're simpler than the new ones, with simpler graphics, worse resolution etc. and all iphone games are developed to utilize the iphone fully.
so just look for the newer wm6 / diamond games and stop complaining about the old games being crap. and remember, games are developed for wm platform, meaning also for weaker devices, not only for our diamonds
personally i know of multiple cool games for the wm6, e.g. teeter, ccsnake, worms world party, tennis addict, open transport tycoon deluxe, resco bubbles, bubble snooker, pocket bowling, etc...
doinbox, yphone has better apps & Games? Really, where? GPS is using google maps? Yep and that thing is actually completely useless compared to Tom Tom, iGO e.t.c. I wonder why apple included GPS in the first place.
Apps? There are none. And with the power of pocket informant, One Note Mobile, Word e.t.c WM beats iphone hands down.
As a phone WM platform is much more convinient. It takes less keystrokes and time to call somebody or send SMS|MMS\E-Mail.
The only thing where iPhone really shines is the web. Big screen+Safari is a perfect solution. Diamond and Opera don't even stand close.I don't thing even Touch HD will help. But unforunatly there is no stable ICQ client for iphone, yet.
So the only thing left out - games. But if u open your eyes and look around you will find enough high quality games for WM which use 3d accelerator. Just an example http://www.clickgamer.com/products/pid_5660/screenshots/ppc/large/ss2.gif
Anyway stop whining here and get an iphone
I love my X1, and I love rubbing it in my friends face who has a iPhone. But I want an app that is something really cool, so that I can really stick it to him!
Tried games, but they all (well most) run at one frame a year!
What I need is something that looks cool, is functional and the iPhone has no hope of doing!
Think Techy cool, we are both in IT. The wireless packet sniffer I had was fairly cool, although wouldn't run in permiscous mode.
Any suggestion?
Fish panel
Yeah, fish panel is okay, is there something else like it with a bit more function though. iPhone has a Koi Pond!
Copy and paste, mms, stereo bluetooth and video recording.
All features the iphone lacks
I know I know, all good features, the fact we can forward a message as well is a good wind up towards my mate. But I'm looking for the "That's so cool!!!" factor.
tell them that u will send something through bluetooth, then watch the tear in there eyes.
ps. i hear there showing iphone os 3.0 today, which will prob solve these probs when it comes out so do it quick
pretty techy cool
i came across an app called "hush sms" for class 0 text messages thats way cool......my mate has an i phone....and i can send him messages that just appear on his screen...with no name or number attched....then when he dismisses them they do not save...simply dissapear.....ive been winding him up for weeks with it....still not told him its me
How but daring him to text after eating some barbecue wings without wiping his hands off. He's screen will look like a crime scene.
Media Xperience Panel is very powerful....
Try also the new Growing Panel. Is a flash panel.
what is cool :
the best 3d games that run on my x1 are:
1 need for speed udercover beautyfull 3d and game play from EA sport
2 boom blox 3D very nice
3 Xtrakt the new se 3D game
4 the thps2 run on x1 but 15-20 fps
best apps are :
the new se flash panel, fish panel, media panel.
i have the Latest touch-it Rom and its rockin.

I found it here on the site, but you need a certain flashplayer.
Couldn`t find the link, so I uploaded it: http://gnur.nl/growingpanel.cab
You simply have to slide your Xperia to reveal the keyboard....thats wow enough for me
plus...the resolution (800x480 over 480x320 iphone), the fast cpu, ability to use your x1 in a business environment (enroll into active directory), the fact you dont have to go thru iTunes to process your songs ), the ton of freeware apps you can find for the windows mobile platform, you name it

just to compare ... running youtube-, tomtom-, operaapp at same time slows my touch diamond pretty much down. so just look at that buty in the video

YES!~ always wanted to answer this. first of all, don't go with GSMArena review on it. yes do believe the downsides.
first as you asked youtube and surfing. its really good in it except some flash contents being supported. otherwise its good.
there are many problems with it. like not supporting alot of mSD cards, lagy, this and that. poor EXTREMELY poor video. mostly LAG makes this phone=crap. after day to day use you will see that. if you keep your sms, then after some time it will disturb you alot. hang and all.
WTF !?!?
FFS !
Touch2 rulez Youtube with it's own WinMo program , which has a super nice interface and plays the videos SUPER FAST and nice !
i do like the surfing on the touch2 with Opera , it supports almost every pluggin on the page , i've never had problems till now , everything works fine , smooth and fast ! dunno what Gothik is talking about but for this type of device and this range of money it's PERFECT !!!
p.s. i got 95 messages in my inbox and no hanging , just some slow reaction with Album , but that's becouse i got more than 700 pictures in it
my 1st smart phone, everything good but the GPS connection is slow.
if you use some mp4 converter program for videos before put into the phone, then the videos are great
and I love playing Bejeweled on the road.
attach the game for you guys
Well I have just moved from a Treo 650 to HTC Touch 2 - so kinda big different step for me - and when I judged this phone I based it on mostly what I need, and what I want.
So far - with the great stuff I have found on the web - and also the SPB (okay more cost but... hey) I have been very impressed with the overall behaviour of the phone, the usablity and also the speed - it is pretty quick (if you don't have 10000000000 tody plugins all loaded at the same time - managed to run out of memory - once -but hey gotta play before serious work!)
The only things I don't like
1) TouchFLO - sorry but that is one of the worse interfaces I have ever used - even worse in my opinion to the Palm 650 default interface! But, I come from usablity, and also from quick access to my main programs. Which is why I forked out for SPB Mobile Shell - It offers a lot of functionality over the base Front.
2) SMS - I really don't like the SMS application with Windows Mobile 6.5 - I'm kinda use to the default Palm 650 SMS - but the thing about it was it was very easy to use, and very quick. I find the SMS in Windows Mobile to be sluggish, and also doesn't even offer things like Graphics Smiley Faces. On top of that I have tested out programs like SMS-Chat, which pretty much does what I want it to do - but can't get the override to SMS-Chat to work correctly - so the default keeps popping its ugly head!
3) Cases - In New Zealand the Touch 2 is new - only been around for about 1.5mths - but getting cases is really impossible - and this is something that has really worried me because I use it for work - and I know oneday soon I'm going to drop it! But - this I will solve - even if I have to use a condom
What I do like about it is cost - it did everything I needed and more - and also has the capablity to grow a lot based on the community and the software vendors.
Overall I have suggested to a few of my friends to buy one - and three of them have brought it - and their response was pretty high also. Now, it hasn't got a huge screen - and I feel a little jealous at the larger screens of my IPhone and TOuch2 Pro friends - but - this is light, easy to store in pocket, and also fits in your hand well - so - over all - I find this a nice phone. Not the best - but certainly not the worse I played with before buying.
It's good...
I have been coming to love it more as time goes by.
It's adaptive to my personal use, small and neat.I now often use it as a Hi-Fi Radio.
It has given me much fun...
Hope you like it!

Canny! very good phone never gonna back to symbs or ordinary mobiles,or buy androids or ipods ....htc (mega particulary) with WM onboard are the best fones ever
I ask this question because I've run into a couple of apps that I just find really cool, apps that I look at and say "wow, that's awesome that I can do this with my phone."
One of them is PhoneMyPC, remote logging into my home computer ($10 app).
The other one is of course WiFi tether (either paid or rooted).
I also really dig FiOS Mobile apps. Two apps, one that allows you to monitor, schedule recordings, and delete recordings on my home DVR from anywhere. The other allows me to control my home DVR via wifi. Why is this cool? I ran a second cable from my DVR to my other TV, so now I can control it while the DVR is at the other end of the house, no need for an IR repeater! And I can screw with my wife while she's watching TV.
What have you found that has made you go "Damn, that's cool!"
Having trouble of thinking of things exclusive to my Evo...but I <3 Android:
Accessing a terabyte of video, music and pictures on my home server through Orb to the Evo is pretty awesome!
Real time video streaming to my Qik stream is very cool.
Real time monitoring of my OBDII stats on the phone through the torque app. I use an OBDII bluetooth module that I got for $30 from Hong Kong. The module is a permanent fixture in my S2000 (install and forget). Very useful if you are into hypermiling, shows current MPG, average MPG and every other stat your OBD sensors feed out.
Droidlive radio app has replaced the crappy Las Vegas radio stations we have out here. I stream this to my Sony Xplod deck's bluetooth.
Google Navigation is honestly the best thing ever. I have give a Garmin nav unit that I haven't used since I got 2.1 on my old Hero.
My girlfriend and I stalk each other with the Latitude app in Google maps. Fun and useful for seeing what your friends and family are up to.
Slingbox Mobile Player will be added to my favorite features this summer, full cable lineup on my phone!
Gmote allows me to use my phone as a track pad on my media server. Very useful and makes an awesome wireless mouse.
i didnt want the evo at first due to its size, i came from an htc diamond to this and what i loved about my diamond was its compact size.. well after getting the evo the size is one of the things that i love about this phone, not to mention not having a lag with finger swipes, everything is instant and precise.. i love this phone.. ANDROID ANDROID ANDROID!!! the apps that i use are as follows;
backgrounds: for some custom backgrounds
driodbox: for accessing my dropbox, like this better than the official dropbox app
camera zoom fx: neat little camera app
itrackmma: a must have for true mma fans, schedules and fightcards for events
jogtracker: creates a detail maps of my jogging speed and routes
listen: for listening to my podcasts
rootbooter: boots into recovery, but i still have to click the recovery files

IMO, one of the coolest things i can do on the phone is to have what the camera sees as my wallpaper. LWP FTW!!

The EVO is what a smartphone is supposed to be.

HAHA yeah, vegas has some really crappy radio stations. I always just listened to NPR and my ex was always trying to find something to listen to because NPR was too 'boring', she never really found anything else.
I do like vegas's NPR station better then phoenix's.
I think the ability to video chat my mother who I haven't seen in years and lives in a different country is "really cool." (From the phone.)
Hi mom!
Playing highly polished games like Radiant on the Evo is nothing short of breathtaking. Once you've done that, there is no going back to a smaller device.

Where did you get this? That would be awesome.
Not all of these are uniquely EVO, but they are awesome none the less. (some are repeats too, but they amazed me)
Using the phone as a trackpad over wifi. Link
Google Voice Mail. The one thing I hated more than anything else over the past decade was checking voice mails. Now its a pleasure.
Latitude
Key Ring helped make my wallet thinner, in a good way. Less club cards to carry. Link
Keeping track of my cars gas mileage and service. Link
Being able to say out loud "Navigate to Frozen Yogurt" and being lead to the nearest place to kill my craving.
Mint is really handy and is already helping me save money. It is ALL your financial information in 1 place. Link
Google Translate is a lot of fun when you use a language it can actually speak back out loud. Link
For me the biggest deal is that this is the first time I have been able to browse the web on something other than a computer, and have it be enjoyable. The other night I sat in bed browsing for at least 1.5 hours completely comfortable. I would say its like 70% of the desktop experience, which is pretty good. Even on the HTC Incredible I found it a bit of a pain to browse. Love that 4.3" screen!
take 8 mp pics of my old PRE to post on craigslist ....

I'm using HomePipe. Like it better than Orb. Can use it to transfer any files, not just music/video/pics.
I think one of the coolest things is
Finding a song using shazam,
downloading the full song for free from MP3 download,
email it to someone else, or search for any video on youtube and download it directly to the phone.

About the obdii adapter: It lagged about 2 milliseconds on my hero, I was testing it out with the Evo today and the lag was about 1 millisecond. I paid $30 for the bt obdii adapter on ebay including shipping.
The best app for it its torque, plus it is free. It even allows for resetting trouble codes.
Seriously the thing that is most incredible to me is being able to use Skype video call to people while walking around using my phone.
this phone does so much epic awesomeness.

Are you using Fring for that? I'd love a native Skype app.. Slingbox too!
My favorite app on the EVO so far has been Google Sky. It really uses all of the technology available to produce something so simple.
