I've been using my xda2 fine for the last few weeks connected to my winxp pc. Just now my pc rebooted itself for no reason. when I checked the Event log it showed this:
The driver detected a hardware failure on device \Device\WCEUSBSH001 and will disable this device.
Now i can't seem to sync my xda. i have tried a soft reset and then put back on the docking station but nothing happens
any ideas anyone???
ok sorted the problem - The reason it wouldn't connect again was because windows was blocking the program from running ( a crap feature of the firewall in service pack 2!) i had to allow the program again.
still don't know why it rebooted in the first place though!
I have had my O2 XDA Exec for a while now and am very happy with it, with one exception I cannot sync! Initially I installed active sync on my home PC but had no joy as when I connected the PDA to the computer windows told me that a new USB device was found but active sync could not find it! I uninstalled active sync, reinstalled it no change, I uninstalled it and then reinstalled it and upgraded to the latest version form the Microsoft site and then tried but still no luck! I was about to get very upset when I got sent abroad by work and given a laptop to take with me. I installed active sync, from my original ****, and it worked absolutely fine the very first time I plugged in the PDA! I then enjoyed several months of use until two weeks ago when I moved permanently and had to go back to my home pc. I uninstalled active sync and reinstalled from the original disc, I then got the upgrade version from Microsoft and, low and behold, I still cannot get the blo0dy thing to recognise that the PDA is attached. I have tried a soft reboot, both whilst attached and not, I have uninstalled and re-installed and still no joy. I know that the USB is working, windows tells me that a new USB device has been found every time, just active sync never finds it. It searches and tells me that all ports, including the USB, are available but no PDA! Can anyone help, please.
Many thanks Jon
active sync > connection settings > allow usb connections: make sure that's checked.
hi, i have a qtek s200 and it no longer connects to the internet thru my pc anymore, havent found out why, and when i plug in my phone thru usb it gives me this error "Synchronization cannot be started because you are not able to log onto the network and access information. Restart your desktop computer and synchronize again. If the problem persists, contact your network administrator. Windows Vista?
Its caused by your notes..try unchecking your notes in activesync...or create a new profile in outlook
Hi there,
Over the last few weeks I have had a problem syncing mu phone, I am able to connect and browse and install software via my PC but it refuses to sync, it starts good by saying that it is looking for changes, then it asks me if I want to combine, overwrite and so on and then after I make my selection it simply says 'Synchronization Error' and remains connected but that is it.
I have tried upgrading and downgrading activesync and my ROM, but what ever I do I get the same result, I have tried on another computer also and still the same.
Please help me as I am going mad, it is not quite a brick, bu is not far from it if I can not get my information on to it.
Cheers
Update
After going back anf forth with versions, I managed to do one full sync ( thank God, now I have my data back at least). but now again, it is failing,WHY ? connection exists, browse and so on works, only the sync does not work.
Do you have bluetooth?
I has a similar problem, I setup a sync profile with my PC via bluetooth and synchronised it through BT. After plugging in the cable afterwards my Syncing was fine...
worth a try
syncing problems
I had the same problem but I seemed to work through it by removing the Mobile Sync 4.5 and re-installing it. It looks like it's not working, but after the install bar goes about half way, everything is on, including the calendar and the Outlook Database. Good luck!
hi guys, i'm running vista ultimate 32bit and everything's been cool with the wing, syncing with outlook 2007 and everything, but 3 days ago it stopped working, meaning windows mobile device center JUST WONT OPEN! no matter what i do, i hard reset the wing already, i reinstalled wmdc, i had to restore from a backup image of my laptop and then it worked, but after two restarts it stopped working again
whenever i plug in my wing, device manager shows that it detects a usb mobile device but wmdc wont start, i click it from control panel, nothing happens...
Im in the same boat. I replied to your thread at WM forum but havent found a solution
i gave up, i formatted my computer and reinstalled vista, took 5 hours to reinstall everything... but the problem is gone. now it's syncing and working fine with wmdc, stupid unreliable microsoft crapware, for some reason wmdc wasnt launching and i searched all over the internet and couldnt find a solution
