I've been looking through the registry and I've found some entries about video resolution on HKLM\Software\HTC\Camera\
Is there a way to enable higher video resolutions changing some values there?
I'll start modifiing the values to see if something happens, but it would help me if anyone has already figured out something here.
Greets!!
Just begining modifiing and found that setting "Enabled" on 1 on the key
HKLM\Software\HTC\Camera\P6 enables "Panoramic" Pictures...
Nice...
I'll keep on trying...
Now, setting "Enabled" on 1 on the key
HKLM\Software\HTC\Camera\P9 enables GPS Photos, but when selected this hangs the Camera Program... So don't try P9...
Nice looking forward voor youre next find
I think we need to create another category called for example 3GPHigh
and play inside that, one of those things there should i think, increase resolution

I have been looking for hours on either software or a hack to make the camera(video) stay on when I am on the main screen. In essence have the video record in the background. I have a lot of memory and like to use the video camera for recording conversions and classes, but I would like to be able to have the camera stay on while in other areas of the phone. The camera program will run in the background but it shuts off the record ing once I leave it. Is there software or better yet a registry hack to make it continue recording? I have been searching with no luck. There has to be others out there that want to record without somebody picking up the phone and knowing you are, or simply use other features of the phone while recording.
TY
anyone?
would just like to toss in my +1 for this, i've often wanted to record a lecture, then want to access some information from the Notes on my device.
Me too.. I wanna take videos and make it look like Im just reading a Word file or something.
What about 3rd party software like coolcam?

I know this is a prehistoric thread that I am bumping (almost three years worth) yet this problem is very irritatingly present on my HD2.
THe builtin camera app won't record in background, settings hkcu\software\htc\camera\deactivate to 0 won't change anything, and same doies changing all the relevant values in the registry altogether.
I tried coolcamera, it has a very spartan interface unusable with a purely touchscreen device, I had to popup LMT's controller to navigate and start recording, but when I did the app didn't work anymore.
So my question is the same, is there currently a background video recording app out there? Seems to absurd to me there isn't, and I can't keep my screen always on while recording video from my car windshield; either that or I'd prefer having recording in background while I navigate with GPS...

that's about another "camera in background" issue
Anyway, that regards the diamond, another user said he could use camera in background on his tp2, while there is not current solution for the hd2
Someone with solution for hd2 ?
Can anyone tell me how to make HTC Album use Coreplayer instead of WMP when viewing videos? I assume it's a reg edit, but I can't find it. If this is already somewhere in the forum, I apologize, but I have run clean out of search terms to try. Thanks in advance.
With a reg editor
HLM > Software > HTC > Biotouch > MediaHubMini
You can edit shortcuts etc ...
please delete more relevant answer given
i dont have core player installed on my device. i did a quick search in a couple of sites. the only thing i found is the following:
"
To make Coreplayer your default player for video (and/or audio):
Open Coreplayer>menu>Tools>preferences
Click "select page", then tick the video and/or audio and image files you wish to make it the default viewer of."
this isn't a permanent solution, but guess it might be useful until u find the relevant registry entry
Thanks for the responses, guys. Unfortunately, I had already changed all the file associations (as Jackster suggested) and that didn't work. Also, I have already tweaked the registry under
HKLM > Software > HTC > Biotouch > MediaHubMini
However, I'm not trying to open Coreplayer when I click on "Videos" in the cube - I still want to use HTC Album there. Rather, I want Coreplayer to play the video when I make a selection from within HTC Album instead of WMP.
I looked over the reg entries in
HKLM > Software > HTC > HTCAlbum
and found 'default_viewer'. I changed the value from 0 to 1 to see what would happen, but it had no effect. Any other suggestions? Thanks!
Sorry it didn't work,
I also checked the reg entries and thought maybe changing the value of the default viewer would do, but apparently it doesn't.

I assume that after making the change you will have to softReset because TouchFlo is already in memory and will not read registry values each time an action is required, so this is the way to refresh and make him using the new settings.

If you are referring to my attempt to change the default_viewer value from 0 to 1, I actually did soft reset after that to see if anything would change, but it didn't.
I'm not saying that there isn't a value that would work under that reg entry, I'm just saying that I don't know what it should be. I just know that changing it from 0 to 1 has no effect. Thanks for your responses!
try soft reset by using any therd party software, like psShutXP, instead of reset hole.

Tried it using AEButton Plus - still no change. Thanks anyway!
Hello,
I'm also looking for a way to launch TCPMP instead of WMP from the HTC (video) Album. I already tried these changes (regedit)... but still no change (except an error message when clicking the "video" button on the cube : TCPMP is loaded directly, without launching the HTC Album video and the error box : "File not found! -mode:camera -type:video").
Sorry for re-launch this post, but seems to be the only one (recent) dedicated to this issue.
Did any "Touch settings" worked properly with TCPMP / HTC Album (video) ?
If yes, is it the only way to launch TCPMP properly from the HTC Album ?
Thanks for your help
[EDIT] : I just tried the "Touch Settings" software, but nothing better... TCPMP is loaded directly with the same error message
Hi all,
I used to be really enthused by the small video editing app included in my Sony Ericsson fans. It was very useful to edit video, make personal editing etc... to send via MMS. Assembling clips was made easy and intuitive.
I can't find such an app for pocket PC. I stumbled onto http://www.trakax.com/software/mobile. It's a useful editing software with cutting edge graphix, but not free and quite cumbersome to use...
Do you happen to know a complete video editing software for our beloved pocket pc? It SHOULD exist but I could'nt find anything out there...
THX a lot !
I found nothing.. I hope there will be some video editing software some day, i had a sony ericsson phone, and they have this simple video editing software called VideoDJ. So maybe there will be one to ppc too...
I don't know about video editing for PPC (maybe there r some) , but I think You don't need such a program, you can
edit it by using PC (with many video editing programs) and export the file..

New Version of TrakAxPC for VGA devices
Hi Cormac here from TrakAxMobile.
Just a quick note to say we have released a new version of trakAxmobile for VGA devices.
Here is quick list of the improvements we have made.
1) We have improved the search function, allowing you to search your content by day/month/year. You can also highlight a number of days/months or years. This will allow you find the media on your device much quicker.
2) We have also improved the editing. We now decompress the file when you click on the edit button allowing you to access time positions in the file quicker and easier. When editing audio you can just highlight the area you wish to cut on the waveform with your stylus.
3) We now allow you to crop photos and you can add a ken burns effect to photos allowing you to Pan and Zoom into particular areas of the photo.
4) We have added a whole range of new transitions.
5) In the mixing screen, you can now control the tempo of the media by switching the slider function from volume to tempo. The slider now allows to slow down or speed up the clip. This is cool if you want a video clip to play in slow motion or wish to speed it up. The same applies to audio, you can speed it up or slow it down by adjusting the slider.
6) We now also allow you add themes and effects to videos or photos. You can also change the color of the text and add background colors to your credits.
You can check out the new features at our website -
http://www.trakax.com/software/mobile/trakaxmobile_vga_devices/
and there is a 7 day free trial available from the following link.
http://www.trakax.com/software/mobile/trial_version/
Check it out and if you have any question, please don't hesitate to contact me.
Best regards
Cormac
Been using trakAx for a while now - awesome app!!!
Just be patient when its rendering your clips as it can take a while - its got a lot of processing to do.
Output is only 640x480 though I think
Is there any registry tweak that will allow you to zoom in closer with the album viewer software. It works great for the files I view but I need to be able to zoom in much more than it allows
Thanks
Mike
Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think you can zoom in as far as the resolution of each image allows. I have some pretty high-res photo's (taken on a digital SLR) and I can zoom in on them until I start to see pixels. If you have low-res pics, you'll start seeing pixels much sooner.
Zooming in any further would be useless since it can't add any detail, you'll just see pixels the size of Lego blocks.
Edit: I realize you may want to examine an image pixel-per-pixel for some reason. In that case, sorry, I can't help.
Thanks for your response, If I could zoom in that close it would be great. I have some hi resolution files anywhere from 6-10 MB which open fine but I can only zoom in about 3 levels. If I could go to the level you describe, it would more than meet my needs.
Hm... Maybe there is a limit after all. I must admit I haven't tried any files in the 10mb region.
I've taken a quick look in the registry but I haven't come across anything that looks like it might solve this. Sorry.
I looked in the registry too but couldn't find any reference to HTCalbum at all. Guess I'll just have to start trying all the demos of the photo apps again...
There's a bunch of stuff under 'HKLM/Software/HTC/HTCAlbum'. Maybe you can find something I overlooked there.
Thanks, don't know why Resco didn't find that ref, I thought it scanned all directories. I couldn't find anything there either. I did change a dword from 2 to 3 in wheelzoomin frames but that didn't do anything obvious so I changed it back. Wonder if HTC support might be able to help, I've read that they're quick to respond to customer software issues but since this is more of a preference issue vs buggy software they may not offer up much.
Yeah, today I copied a 78 mega pixel image (actually a map) to my Leo and to my surprise, I can't zoom more than a certain amount in HTC Album. Anyone know a fix for this?
use resco photo manager, that one allows you to zoom in much more than the htc album. The newest version also supports multi-touch!
thanx! Tried resco; I'm flattered how they implemented multi touch this soon! only a month and a half after Leo's release.
It's really nice and fast (even faster refresh time than htc album) but I wish u could disable multi touch rotation. It's constantly confusing pinch with rotation.
Hi, I'm new to XDA Developers but have been using as a valuable resource over the past few months.
We have a HTC Touch Pro 2 device (WM6.5) that we provide support for to a number of personnel. The client have requested that we change the device settings so that photos have the timestamp applied and secondly that it not be possible to take it off again.
Since we have somewhere in the region of 600 devices to update, we'll need to do this via a registry change through our updates service. Try as I might though, I can not find the setting to do either of these. I have searched on here and google and can't find the answer. Has anyone done this before?
Thanks in advance.
I've been doing some digging on this and found a registry key under
HKEY_Local_Machine\SOFTWARE\HTC\Camera\Image
called 'enableStamp'. However, when I change this on Visual Studio 2005 remote registry tool, it doesn't seem to make any difference on the phone, the menu option stays the same. Likewise, the menu doesn't seem to change the registry which leads me to think it's another setting someplace or the settings are stored elsewhere.
Thanks in advance for any help.
I've finally made a breakthrough on this. I had to export the entire registry, change the value, export the registry again and compare the files. I found that this value
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\HTC\Camera\6.16\Preferences
contains a large Hex value string and found that change a value that was 48 (timestamp off) to C8 (timestamp on) was reflected on the device. This string seems to have a lot of values so I'm assuming they are all to do with options selected in the camera menu. I just hope one of them is to disable the timestamp option now. I've posted this here in the hope it helps someone else.
