I somehow changed this on my wing and now it is a rather annoying high pitched beep rather than the kind of click off that it originally had. I have no idea where this setting is, anyone know?

When you are dialing someone, does anyone else get a static click in the quiet part between rings?
It's really bugging me! Any suggestions on how to stop it?
It has been there with the inital 1.03, through 1.06 and now is still there with 1.11
Thanks
Marc

Well, I have this sound on my device, too.
I guess it's caused by the basic design of the magicians hardware: there are (simply spoken) two parts inside the magician - one part is the PocketPC hardware, the other is like a normal cellular phone. When switching audio from the PocketPC part (playing music, ringtones, sound notifications, etc.) to the phone part (making calls), the click you mentioned appears.
However, I haven't found a definite solution exept for lowering down the magicains sound level (switch on the left side or tapping the speaker icon in the taskbar on top of the screen while not making a call).

I am not sure why you would get a click specifically but I think there are general issues with the quality of the analog components (i.e. speakers and amplifiers) in the JAM. I don't think firmware can help us as much as I hate to think it.
I remember the Sony Ericsson T68 had a similar problem. Sound quality was poor and sometimes it was very hard to hear people on the other end of the phone. Nothing could be done to fix it short of getting a different phone.
Finally, I think the reason why some people have claimed to hear an improvement after applying new firmware (other than changes in the registry values for priority and volume) has more to do with the power of suggestion rather than any actual measurable change.
I get that noise too, however I'm not very annoyed with it since it goes away as soon as the call is connected.
I'm running 1.06 radio ROM, and I for one noticed a very significant audio quality improvement when upgrading från 1.01. The quite heavy distortion vanished completely, and the crackling noises disappeared too.
I just made a phone call and the person on the other end couldn't here me. I've just checked with a friend and they can just about hear me but its gone extremely quiet - it wont hear me when I record now either.
Does anyone have any ideas why this might have happened - what is the likely cause (dust in mic, mic problem or software problem?)
Thanks for any help

...low recording volume? Did you check for mic volume and set it all the way up?
Thanks for getting back to me -
Is there a mic volume setting? I dont know where to find it if there is? (Im using the orange rom - maybe I need to do it in the registry - if so do you know where)
All I can find is the microphone AGC- when I set that it comes a bit louder but not much - I've been checking it via phoning my land line and via recording memos
thanks again
I just tried it with my hands free headset and it works fine so I think that means it must be a physical problem. I keep it in my pocket all the time so its probably got some fluff in it or something -
does that sound right?
anyone? Im thinking of taking it to bits as I dont seem to have any other options -
unless there is a mic volume control that I dont know about
OK there was nothing obviously wrong with it, so some component must have gone, has anyone done a repair themselves or should i send it somewhere and if so where (in the UK)
all replies appreciated
I just made my first call with my HD and as soon as I pressed the call button (and before it had connected) I could hear hissing through the speaker. This carried on during the call, on and off to the point I used the speaker phone (which didn't appear to be affected.
Has anyone else had this problem, and am I likely to be able to sort it out or will I have to send it back, as tbh if it stays like this there is no way I will actually be able to use it to make calls.
Bump, nobody got any suggestions?
I assume it must be a fault then?

All I can say is that I don't see this behaviour - fault looks favourite to me therefore, for whatever that's worth to you.
I still have the problem of when i make or receive a call the volume is so so loud even at the min setting.
But today when i was on the phone with my ear drums nearly bleeding....i had another call beeping through (call waiting) and noticed that straight away the volume of the call that i was on decreased to a sensibly level!!
Once i finished the call, i thought it may have been a one off so i dialled another number and then got someone to phone me while i was on the call and yet again the volume somehow dropped to a sensibly level.
Any ideas guys?
If only i could always have the volume like this, this handset would be perfect.
This also happens if your on the phone and get an SMS, HTC have admitted the volume problem is a "known issue" but there is so far no results of them having fixed it.

Incall volume has always been a problem on this device and I think there is another thread related to this issue. It has been noticed that when you are on a call, the volume, evn though on the lowest level is usually way too loud and uncomfortable for the ears.
This might help you as it works for me: while on a call, I increase the volume to max and turn it back down to lowest level. you will straightaway notice that the volume has reduced cosiderably. This has been my "short term" solution until the issue is resolved. Hope that helps.
Hello there everyone,
is anyone else experiencing this weird phenomenon:
everytime haptic feedback frequency is high, e.g. while fast typing messages, I'm hearing besides the vibrating buzz also some clicks, and they become louder the shorter the intervals between the pulses. When I wait a little after hearing it and touch a key again, the clicking is gone but as soon as they follow up each other a little bit faster it's hearable again.. Can anyone check if this happens with them too? I can't remember I was hearing this sound too when I first used the phone, just wanted to know if something's wrong in the earpiece. I know the vibrator is situated at the bottom of the phone, the noise however is coming from the earpiece.
Thanks in advance!

No I haven't also, the phone is completely set to mute. But if the guy of the second answer doesn't have his touch sounds on neither, everything's OK with me just wanted to know if it was abnormal
Thanks!
