I have seen a number of posts where people have been having trouble in getting the Atom Exec to be detected by Vista's Windows Mobile Device Center. I am having the same issue. Unfortunately the posts don't reveal any magical answer or in fact whether the Atom Exec is supposed to work at all with Vista. I want to rule out a fundamental incompatibility between the Atom Exec and Vista before I put much more time into figuring out what is wrong.
So, my question is fairly simple. Has anyone been able to successfully get the Atom Exec to sync with Vista's Windows Mobile Device Center?
Thanks

I tryied to connect my Qtek2020 with NEC616v via bluetooth, so I could use it as a highspeed modem with the mobile broadband. It wont pair either ways. The Qtek finds the NEC616v but when I press a pin code, nothing appears on the NEC, and the Qtek returns with a message saying that my pincode is wrong.
Has anyone any experience with this pacticular problem?
Thanks
Peter
Nokia´s or other mobiles that run Symbian operating system, is not working with the Qtek/XDA II Bluetooth at all. You can´t even send contacts...
Ive got reports of it working with some SonyEricsson mobiles, although, of course not the most popular ones (T610/T630).
I think the bluetooth compatability is really bad on the Qtek2020/XDAII.
Hopefully, this will be fixed in newer roms, or maybe Windows Mobile 2003SE, or Windows Mobile 2005.
not sure what this NEC616v thing is but i suspect if you want to use it for data transfer you'll have to get some sort of driver for the xda
Symbian phones works with XDA II
Hey
I got a Orange SPV M1000 with the latest firmware and I can easily send and receive files from a SE P900. When trying to bluejack I often see all kinds of phones altough I seldom try to connect to them. Make sure you have the 1.66 firmware as I have heard that the previous versions where weaker regarding bluetooth functionality.
Good luck
Johan
Hi!
Thanks...
But 1.66 only works with Orange and other specified operator images. My Qtek2020 is not Sim locked.... When I asked the Qtek support, they told me 1.66 was only for Qtek's with Orange or TDC images..
Hy, I'm a new owner of a nice MdaPro/Jasjar, and for me is very important to send a fax to my customer or receiving a fax. It is possible with my young favourite.
Would you have a net connection?

Dear .
U hv to use KSE True Fax 2.09(d/l from FTP) and your SIM shd have the Data/Fax service activated from yr service provider...
Hi,
can you tell me how you did it. The TrueFax is ver. 2.09 is not recognizing the modem.
If you succeeded you let it running, plz. describe the procedure in detail.
thanx.
KSE's website explicitly stated that it doesn't support HTC Universal
HTC-Universal device without fax software - The already available "Universal" devices manufactured by HTC are not equipped with a fax software. That means, when you purchase one of these Pocket PC Phones, such as MDA Pro, XDA expert, VPA 4, etc. no version of our software KSE Truefax is included. Furthermore no version of our software is available for these devices. Previous versions of Truefax are not compatible with this device type. If you need a fax software please contact your respective net provider.

I haven't tried this, but maybe you can give it a go:
MFaxCE -- Don't know if it's WM5 compatible.
http://www.samtechnc.com/eng/introduction/mfax_intro.htm
Anyway I can use Winfax Pro 10 installed on my Windows XP computer to use the Jasjar as a fax modem so that I can fax from my pc connected to the Jasjar via bluetooth. I know I can do this with my Nokia 6600. I tried the same with the Jasjar but it appears that the Winfax Pro does not recognize the Jasjar as a fax modem. Maybe I am doing something wrong or maybe simply that the Jasjar modem is not fax compatible. Any view would be appreciated.
Kind Regards
I remember someone in the BA section posting a working KSE cab file for the BA with WM5.
Just don't have time to find it right now.
I have a big dilema...will it ever be possible to use fax on my qtek 9000? I have all the required fax services on my SIM and software on my phone (TrueFax 2.09), but it still not working to send or receive fax from my device...
And about the fax modem...is this an aditional software, or what because my phone is not detecting any fax modem?
We are the developer of MFaxCE
We are the developer of MFaxCE. Actually, we have already ported our MFaxCE to WM5.0 successfully, but we found that HTC have changed a lot or haven't open the port for fax on WM5.0 device, we still fail to send/receive fax on WM5.0 right now.
However we are working with some manufacturer who is willing to modify their driver to make our MFaxCE capable of fax on their WM5.0 device. And we are also looking forward that HTC can do some modification or disclose some information to us, so that we can make MFaxCE compatiable with all the HTC WM5 device.
We will keep you posted about any news in the future!
@samtech
Sounds great, i really miss Faxing on the Universal.
However, I seriuosly doubt that HTC vill release any info on the internal's of their device. They will more likely give you a datasheet on an upcoming device, and perhaps give you some limited access.
It's very clear that the whole WmMobile business market is centeret on one thing, pushing new devices out the door.
Rom Updates that actually makes our devices work the way they are marketed, are never released......just forget it!
And why should they, we are stupid enoughf to buy the new devices, hoping that it will solve our problems.
Luckily we have some brilliant guys working on the linux Port for the BA, Universal and other devices ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=35972 )
Doo feel free to join or provide any info you might posses to the community, the more the merrier
On the negative side, it dossent excatly put food on the table, but hopefully it will help us by providing the tools we need to help us do other things that will, without having to constantly monitoring this board to get our devices working within resanoble boundries.

AFAIK Universal does not support V2.0, which will
make it a PITA to support. I don't know if it a hardware
limitation or a phone radio ROM (mis)feature.
Edit:
sorry, it was mgetty+sendfax that does not support v1,
but hylafax does.

Hi all,
I've spent the last 3 weeks searching through everything so as not to waste anyones time with a simple question but to no avail.
I've been given an XDA II from a family member as they have upgraded to the Exec and I have been using it as a PDA only. Well I see that Orange have some good deals on the go and so decide to use it as a phone/Internet enabled PDA.
I've unlocked it (many times now) got 2003SE on it and have put the correct MMS and GPRS settings in (The ones from Shadamehr). I've checked with Orange and GPRS is enabled on my account with them (PAYG at the mo) but for some reason the same thing that was happening when I first got it pops up
"Cannot connect
There is no modem at the above number..."
So best my small mind can figure is that somehow the 'phone part' of the PDA isn't working. I've tried other sims in it and they don't work either (o2 and Three - but I think Three is funny anyways). Is there something wrong with the actual phone bit?
It's a legit XDA with the M1000 ROM upgrade from the orange site which has made it 2003SE
Does anyone have any knowledge about how I can get my PDA to be a phone? It was once before (but with O2)
Thanks in advance for any and all help.

No modem at above number
Thanks for the link, but believe me I've tried this. I retried it to be sure just now.
"No modem at above number" is what I get after the XDA II tries to connect.
I have no phone reception whatsoever, no internet and no SMS.
My XDA II just works as a PDA with no communication possiblities apart from USB cradle.
Again, thanks in advance for any and all help with this.

If there's no phone reception, and no GPRS, how do you expect to connect to one?
Not to be mean or anything, but aren't your hopes of connecting a little farfetched if all the systems you're trying to use are down?

Your not being mean, believe me after a month of searching through here and SPV developers anything that wuld resolve this issue would be appreciated.
Why would the phone element of my XDA just stop working? I can only imagine some sort of Hardware fault but I'm a thorough bunny and would like to make sure of this. A diagnostic app or some way of reading the phone element like a device driver would be handy.
So in brief, why has my phone part of my XDA II stopped working and how do I switch it back on again (if this is at all possible)?
Thank you for your replies thusfar Cynagen, I shall start to ask these questions in the Himalaya forum also now since it seems model specific and not network related.
Any and all further assistance is much appreciated.

Funny how a search on google turned up more than a search on our own damn forum...Search function sucks!
The SE Xperia X1 has a inbuild FAX Modem.
Sending a Fax with the X1 is from the Hardwareside possible.
I have searched the last week nearly two days
for a software that i can install on the X1
for fax handling.
The only programm that was prommissing was
"True Fax". True Fax make the Phone to a Fax macine.
It allow sending and receiving of Fax with
the Mobilephone.
This programm however is outdated and
works only for older HTC Phones.
I have solved my problem by replacing the need of a fax with the mail functionality of the phone.
You should have however have the possibility to connect
the X1 Modem with Vista over BT. Afterthis select as outgoing connection in Vista the new Modem. With a good Faxprogramm your Fax should be send by the SE X1.

I read your post and like the idea, so I tried to set up a remote connection to the phone, in Vista, but the wizard will not display the phone modem (assuming there is one). The remote connection utilty in Vista looks like it always did in Windows (I see it sometimes because it pops up when I launch my wifi modem's connection). If the modem is found, any fax program should find it.
I should think there is a way because it's not too long ago since the gsm operators were actively marketing their business packages with the big thing then - fax from the mobile. I know I can still get an extra number to the mobile phone, that will only handle fax calls.
If it cannot be done, you an always let Vista use X1s internet connection, then send the document with something like PamFax for Skype (works great and the pennies for sending can be deducted from the Skype account so there's no extra business of filling up credits).
-------------
Reclaim the fax! I don't call customer service or the government or the bank or whatever any longer - it's just holding lines and a lot of options that take you to an automated voice that says something stupid. If you send an email, you don't know if they'll answer. If they get a fax, for sure it WILL land on someones desk and they will treat it as a formal letter.
--------------
Actually in bigger companies, their fax machines are inside their COMPUTERS. So there is nothing landing on anyones desk
And probably smaller companies can't afford a 'real' fax machine and will just use their computers.... same result
I'm in Europe. We're different.
You can try install BT dialup networking profile and then connect phone from vista as COM port modem.
