Paint thinner?
I just got a wing myself but from what I think i understand since the wing cannot be flashed with RUU, flashing of splash screens is not yet possible.
You can always replace welcomehead.96.png in the windows folder to change the windows splash.
*edit*
Came across this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=342721&highlight=flash+the+wing dont know if anyone has successfuly flashed the wing though.
Can anyone verify?
I was actually referring to the logo painted on top of the device cover.
What do you mean the wing cannot be flashed???
Isn"t half this forum flashing theirs? Or is the flash screen different from the rest of the ROM?
Either way any advice on removing the painted logo?
to flash the first splash screen, you must be able to flash an entire nbh file. this is only possible with a cid unlocked device.
To remove the tmobile logo, i guess you could scour it off but then it looks ugly.

oh I assumed you were talking about the splash screen hence the paint thinner joke. I don't know anyway without making the device look hidious Maybe you could find an HTC P4350's facias and replace it?
As for the flashing you can use Asergs way to flash the OS part of the ROM but you cannot as of yet flash the whole thing (extention ROM, splash, IPL, SPL)
Scratch it off...
actually I would be interested in the answer, can bump up resale value when newer and more attractive model surfaces
I read in other forums of people using sugar cubes or erasers to get it off perfectly leaving no mark. They spoke of other models though and I am not sure the rubberized Wing finish will survive a sugar cube or an eraser as well?
Anyone with a brick is free to try and let us know!!!!!!
I didn"t even know there was a tmobile splash screen... Yak!!!
I second that. if u have a brick rub away. or love the one ur with
or get a snap on cover for it so you don't see the logo..
you'll take the blue surface off if you use anything harsh!
Speaking from experience? Try an eraser or a sugar cube?

I created my goldcard and went ahead and followed intructions accordingly to theunlockr.com goldcard guide. Except I used Engineering SPL 1.33.2010 (SAPPIMG.zip) and used update.Engineering-SPL-HBOOT-1.33.2010-signed.zip (UPDATE.zip) for the process and used the Google ION as the base image and now I don't have fastboot and i get stuck at the HTC screen. I was fine before I downloaded the Google ION recovery image and updated with Aman-RA's bootloader. Nothing works, so is it a comfirmed brick, and if so will T-Mobile take it back seeing as the screen say "HTC Magic"?
Before I get the lecture I understand I hold all responsibility and hold no one liable but myself. Sadly I feel a part of me has died.
I don't know if tmobile is any smarter than rogers, but when i bricked my htc dream, i simply took it to rogers and said that i turned it on and it was stuck at the boot screen.
They gave me a new one without question.
Intresting. Did they replace it then and there. You see I've only had this phone for 2 months with the insurance package and was wondering if they give you a new one then and there, and if they make you pay some sort of fee up front. I'm new to T-Mobile so I have no idea as to wat to expect, but hope that they replace it.
i am tmobile and had a friend who's tmobile and he bricked his. he took it to a tmobile store and said that it told him to update something and now it wouldn't work. i dont know if it was boot screen, i just know he bricked his and they did it no question. not sure about if he had to pay. i dont think so since they thought it was a problem on their behalf. i say try it, if it doesn't work, try again another day with different rep. if that don't work, smash that mofo and just pay the security deposit. better than buying it all over again but this time for like 400$ because of no plan. :S
Yeah i bricked mine a day after having it, and got a new one next day. i dont think it matters when you do it.

Well I called instead and had an Android expert walk me through some steps to try and get the phone to work. She had me hold "HOME" + "POWER" without letting go. I couldn't help but laugh on the inside as she was telling me what to do while I was playing dumb. "Nope... Nothing is happening! The MyTouch 3G screen is still just hanging there ma'am". We did that twice and she finally told me she was sending me a New or Refurbished one with free UPS Express Shipping "yay" since I have the insurance and because its a premium phone.
Another thing to, she had me look at the back of the phone behind the battery for a white, red, or pink dot. Luckily mine was white. She tells me later that thats a water damage indicator and that if its white that the phone is fine otherwise water damage is present. I did not know that, but its useful information nonetheless

I bricked my Rogers HTC Magic and I did the same thing. I called Rogers and told them that when I turned the phone on it was stuck at the rogers logo. They guided me through a small process which obviously didn't work. Then they decided that my phone was dead upon arrival and sent me a new one withing 3-5 days.

Right now I'm using a Sony Ericsson TM506 while I wait. Ugh* I got used to having the MyTouch that nothing else feels right. Crappy ass phone. Once I get my replacement I will be giving the SE back to my son.
Sounds bad. have you tried ADB maybe it finds your phone so you can add recovery again.
If you can get into the Fastboot screen (or get any screen for that matter), doesn't it mean your phone ISN'T bricked?
Why were you laughing at pressing home+power that should get you to the recovery screen if it had flashed properly.
Did you try taking out the battery, pressing and holding Back+Power as you reinsterted the battery?
If your phone isn't bricked it would have taken you to the fastboot screen which from there would allow you to boot into a recovery image and reflash your SPL.

I was simply laughing on the inside because I knew that wasn't going to work. I had already tried that before calling and I got nothing from the phone. The Boot loader was taken out when I tried to flash the Google Ion Image to it. Apparently it doesn't come with a bootloader or something. Either way I messed it up, and it wouldn't fastboot.
does anyone know where I can get the Original Cover that came with the phone. You know the grey matte with the android Logo on the back?
thanks I hope people here will answer since in the "other" tattoo forum they never answer my questions.
What cover have you got on yours then? I had the grey one with my tattoo new and its not the best - the blue cover that came with the uk orange version is much nicer

Maybe you could call HTC Support and see if they can supply one?
ill try that
I think original HTC Tattoo cover is a bit a slippery and can usually fall off from your hands. Does anyone happened that? My old HTC Touch had a better grip surface.
I was wondering wether custom covers are mate or glossy
ive got two custom covers an they are both glossy!
Ive had a search but can find no original covers on sale anywhere - not even ebay
I installed the HSPL for the 1024 HD2 all went smooth then I proceeded to flash a Energy rom and all was smooth. Then I downloaded a dutty rom from 3/28 that I find out later was not the right one flash went accordingly 100%. The phone did not restart. It will not turn on. No power on and no light when charging. No bootloader mode, no regular boot nothing. I read you might be able to bring it back so i was wondering if you guys could help me out. I plug it in and says it has the wrong drivers. So is there a way to take it back to stock as I cant get mh money back on this phone?

So is it safe to assume that there is no way to fix this? Because none of these things in the other threads have worked for them and they have not worked for me. With the current state would they be able to tell it was flashed if I send it to tmobile? Or I am good to send it in for an exchange?
if they can make the phone boot to bootloader then they will see hspl and refuse to replace it.(shouldn't matter what rom is on it, its the hspl that invalidates it.)
if they can't start it, then you are in theory safe.
I have seen a few people say they got it replaced, but I would be quick!
I won't say there is no fix, just no ones mentioned one yet

plus one for me. same exact thing happened with dutty's newest rom. so now i have a nice brick sitting here. still searching.
This will not be fun because i purchased the phone from wirefly and not tmobile...so i am not sure walking into the local tmobile store will be of any help.

dont forget the phone is manufacturer warrantied for 1 year, plus wirefly are legaly bound to support you for a while too.
Tear a hole in your short's pocket and go jogging. After the run you'll realize your HD2 is no longer in your pocket. Report it lost and pay your deductible.

same here. I just got my phone like 7 hours ago and I already brick it coz I accidentally flash it to the wrong ROM. So I went back to the Tmobile store today and they try to swap the batteries and think that its just the batteries. Then, they can't figure it out whats wrong with it. The manager said he's going to call once he get his shipment of HD2 and replace it.

i did the same thing, but when i try to install a custom room for my tmobile hd2 ,,,, it stuck at HTC screen with 0% ..... ???? i try the custom room or stock room , they stuck at HTC screen forever
Has anyone been able to work out a "Bootloader Repair" programme that will help people bring these bricked HD2's back by re-flashing the loader on the the flash memory?
I imagine a hundreds of HD2 fans will need it...
What are some red flags I should look for? I will be getting the phone with an otter box case, lapdock and also a cardock that I will have no use for. The phone and everything is pretty much all brand new and the guy clams it was never rooted or hacked. What are some things I should look for and test besides the obvious? Did these have any screen issues? I just dropped my Galaxy S2 cause of the tremendous screen defects.

Boot it up and check the top left corner of the screen. If it says UNLOCKED then he's lying.
Also, you might want to check for dust under the screen as it could get annoying if you find out later on
Thanks for the swift reply! I was actually gonna be bringing my T-Mobile Sim card along and popping it in. And damn these get the dust under the screen also?
EDIT: Oh did you mean UNLOCKED as far as if it's ever been rooted or hacked?

I though flashing certain ROMs hid the "unlock" text at the top left during boot...?

Yep, the unlocked is refering to an unlocked bootloader. There would be no reason to unlock the bootloader if you werent going to put a custom rom on it or root (gingerbread based) firmwares.
As for things to look for... while this phone has excelent call quality a minority of users have some issues with voices sounding garbled on either end. You might want to throw a sim card in and make a test phone call to see if the one being sold is problematic.
Not sure about that. Ive tried several roms and still had the "UNLOCKED" text on the top left corner. The only time that happened was when I messed up the guide for unlocking bootloader and it disappeared. I have jumped from CM7 to Darkside etcc.. and back. So far its still there.

I would look for the moisture indicator. It varies on where it is located but it should be under the battery door near the sim slot or under the battery itself. It should be a little white circle, if it is red (I think) then it has been exposed to water.

Dust can get under the screen as the digitiser isn't glued to the LCD which makes it easier to repair but problematic for dust (but you can open it if it gets too bad and clean it out which is always a plus).
Yes, the unlocked message means that the person has unlocked the bootloader and messed around with custom roms etc. Check for it to see if he's truthful but if he was clever he could've flashed an SBF which got rid of the unlocked message (and the only way to be sure is to do something in terminal emulator which i can't remember).
Checking the moisture sticker is a must!

As @W3BSurfer mentions, it will still be visible going from ROM to ROM but if you flash an SBF with RSDlite (as @coolnow mentions) then it will be hidden. So, if the guy flashed the official SBF then it really wouldn't matter because it would be stock and should pass the MD5 checksum for future "official" updates (if that is the concern).

That's good and all, but the seller is saying they haven't messed with it so it's more to do with trust than anything. If they have indeed flashed the phone and said they didn't, then what else have they done that they aren't saying?
Very good point. I usually don't trust anyone when buying things anyways and the simple act of inspecting the phone shows a lack of trust regardless but I do agree with you.

Im confused you say the phone was reported as lost, by who? are you actually the "legal" owner of this phone?
^ My guess is that he bought a lost/stolen T-Mobile display model hence the screen burn in and logo.

I bought it from a guy, so, I didnt buy it on a store. So, when I check IMEI it says "stolen". You know...
The point is the Logo watermark on the screen. If I put it on download mode there is no watermark, so, I dont know if I need to delete something from the system..
this probably isn't the best place to ask for advice regarding a fenced handset.
