Bluetooth Transfer Rate - MDA III, XDA III, PDA2k, 9090 ROM Development

Just wanna know, after upgrading to wm 06 how fast your bluetooth for transferring a file? Since i've got only 10-13 kb/s now (as seen on resco explorer) , but with wm03se i've got 30-35 kb/s to nokia phone. Is this's normal ? or there's any solution for this? is upgrade bluetooth stack can solve this? Thank You

Compare speed to memory and to SD card - sometimes SD card is extremely slow, and it's not Bluetooth problem only.

What happened to my BA is after i flash to WM06, my transfer rate over bluetooth to another phone is lower than i use wm03, for example , to nokia phone it's only 10-13 kb/s.. so i wonder is there any workaround for this matter.. Thanks

In the "Extras" file in the Programs File there's a Bluetooth Speed program. Anyone know what this is or how it works?

Bluetooth filesharing problems

Hey!
I just recently tried to share photo's with my girlfriend's Sony Ericsson T610. I can set up the bond ok, I can send pictures from her phone to my XDAII, but I cant send pictures (or contacts) from mine to hers.
I go to "beam file" select her device, & tap to send........ then it states "sending file 1/1" but that's it, you can see that a transfer is beinng attempted on her phone's display, but the prompt to accept or reject the file never appears. It takes something like 10mins for the XDA to report the failure, and you cannot seem to cancel the transfer - the word cancelling comes up, but then the screen freezes (you can still get to other applications throught the start bar)
Has anyone lese had this problem - will it be fixed by the bluetooth update, or the o2 update..... or anything?
cheers.
I have had exactly the same problem, same situation with a T610, 3 months ago on original ROM.
Haven't tried it after the ROM upgrade though. I'm anxious to know too.
whoops..me too..
it freeezes when i try to send files over BT to other phones!
Hmm..And I can't install BT Tools because it disable ActiveSync via Bluetooth..hmm..
Will try other thirdy part software..
Might have a POTENTIALLY useful piece of info for you here folks...
You see, I'm originally an Orange E200 SPV Smartphone user.
Sad as it might sound, there is NO inbuilt functionality in the phone (Windows Mobile 2003 based) for sending files by BT.
So some clever people who write a third party software File Manager app - Smart Explorer I think it is, decided to include there own support for Bluetooth sending of files in the program.
BUT - this is where things may start getting interesting...
What they found was that with the first beta, phones just like the SE T610 for example, could not receive files.
Testing by them, found that this was because certain types of phones could not receive files via BT, when sent at full transmit protocol speed, and no facility existed for them to simply 'drop down' to lowest common speed.
How they got around this, was by including an option, in the next version of their program, to include a little tick box, to "Send at full speed".
Thus, by default, lower speed is used, so as to ensure full compatibility.
But if you KNOW the device you were sending to supports full speed, you can just check the "Full speed" box as it is sending, at it switches to faster speed.
Relating all that babble and background info to the XDA2 etc, it isn't too far a leap of knowledge, to wonder if the same problem applies, whereby the XDA2 defaults to sending files by BT at FULL transmit protocol speeds, and of course, certain phones, such as the T610, can't receive at this speed, and simply sit there confused.
A guess, nothing more. But based on my experiences of the E200 smartphone, and what the problem was then, I can't help but suspect that the problem of certain phones not being able to negotiate full speed BT transfer, is what might be the issue here too.
Just a thought...
..And so..For transfer Files via BT we Must wait for WM2k3 SE?
..Ehm,Maybe u will find it useful:
I tryed transfer files to Nokia 3650,6600 (Symbian 60 and 70 phones) and sometimes the phones receive the files (but my XDA2 freezes and contiunue show me Sending...) and sometimes freezes at all and don't send nothing.
Regards
So, it means that if sending files from/to another bluetooth pocket pc, then it shouldnt has problem?
I'm the main developer of Smart Explorer for Smartphone 2002/2003. You're right Shadamehr. It seems that the Microsoft BT stack on SP 2002/2003 does not handle correctly the max packet size the remote device accepts. This happens with different devices, such as T68i or T610. I can't confirm yet that this problem also occures with XDA II (I don't have any T610 at the office).
We are actually porting Smart Explorer to Pocket PC (it was only an internal exercise and not planned to be made public). Actually, 95% of the job has been realized. I will try to find a T610 and test file transfer. I'll let you know the result. If there is some interest, we may think about putting this version on our web site.
from what i understand then many mobil phone makers block that
because background pictures and such are being sold
and if people could just share them they would not make as much money
my gf's nokia have a mmc card and i cant even put pictures on the it and choose them as background
if your xda2 can beam to other xda2's and to a pc then putting 2003SE on it is not likely to solve issues with other devices not being able to recieve from it
nice one jacoch - let me know when i can give it a whirl!!!
If its possible to send picuures from a T610 to another T610 and from a T610 to an XDA, it must be possible for a t610 to recieve pictures etc.
my XDA gone back for repairs but should be back with me soon 8)
cheers guys
Well I just tried with the T610 of a friend of mine. It seems that BT stack is even worst on XDA than it is on SPV. I have faced some hangs while shutting down the BT stack. The same appears when trying to send a file when the remote device ask to be bound first. The bounding dialog never appears and SE sit waiting from the answer of the OS. I'm not sure it's bugs as I tried on our development device that is not really fit :? (ROM 1.66)
Anyway, once the XDA II has been bound to the T610, transfer was fine (at slow speed only). I have sent successfully several 40Kb jpeg files. If we decide to make this version public, we will investigate and try to fix these troubles.
Pleeeeeease let me know if/when I can test it;
Is there any way that the Bluetooth application can be split from the bulk of the OS - to use as a patch for windows PPC? (as if you didn't have enough to do!)
 cheers!
not only the T610
Yea, have tried even with the high end SE P900, still wont accept the transfer... but the PALM units were able to send from an to 7650 and other high end units...
It really sucks to thinks XDA2 is "HIGH END/TECH PHONE" but doesnt connect /file trans thru BT.
ok is bt but is maybe a pb with ir setting read this

BT file transfer to mobile phones
I have I-mate running WM2003. As described above I can recieve files from SE T610/630/Z600 but i can't send files to these devices... it writes "Sending 1/1" and that's it... although on T610 the BT sign changes to the one indicating a transfer... nothing happens in fact... for half an hour it couldn't send a 20Kb picture... I have downloaded and installed Pocket Bluetooth Tools... but what I can't figure out is what is this software at all and how it works? If anyone knows how to make my I-mate (1.66.00WWE) send files to mobile phones, please explain it to me step-by-step.... THANK YOU!!!!
so can anyone tell me a program i can use for sending files over BT. i got HS messenger for texting over BT networks but it requires both devices to be bonded. is this true for all aps? im only looking to send files from my xda2 to another xda2 if it makes it any easier
Bluetooth problems
I have exactly the same problem as Rasputin. My gf has a t610 that I cant send images to.
Is there any development on that program that will allow users to send images to these phones?

XDA 2 / SanDisk SD Wi-Fi = Streaming Audio Bad

Hi there
I was wondering if anyone has experienced any problems streaming Audio
using the SanDisk Wi-Fi SD Card. The problem I have is that it seems the data/audio stream keeps corrupting , as in the sound keeps clicking ever 3-4 seconds , I have tried this on a number of streaming sites and get the same results , I tried this on my old Ipaq 5450 and the stream is crystal clear no drops at all. The Player i am using is Gplayer which is freeware and works wells , the streaming site i am trying to connect to is
h**p://www.somafm.com ( Great music by the way ) , any help would be greatfully accepted.
Regards
RF
This issue has been around for a while now and it happens on mine as well. It seems this is a defect present on all XDAII's.
I had the same problem when I used gsplayer, works fine with pocket music (with the feature pack, the freeware version doesn't support streaming)
O2 XDA II audio patch
Try installing this. This came from O2 U.K.
Thanks
Many thanks to all who have replied , I have now d/loaded Pocket Music and will try it out when I get home.
RF
Hi,
I am also having the same problems. Its a similar setup ie sandisk sd wifi and wireless broadband router. I have tried installing the audio patch and tried pocket music, but it still skips. Any more ideas?
Steve
try increasing the read file cache (player options, general) I've got mine set at 2 meg, and also in player options, streaming increase the buffer , mines at 128k buffer, 25% prebuffer and 50% after underrun,
Streams fine both of pc via network share and from internet radio.
You will always get some internet staions that "drop out", but i get that on my pc as well so..........
I'm not sure if this can help improve things, but there is a free application called GB-Soft Tweak for WM2K3 Phone Edition that may fix this streaming problem.
I have not test it yet since my brand new socket SD WiFi is on it's way but it's worth a try.
It has an option that reads:
Higher priority for audio media streaming -> eliminate clicks (till after soft reset)
Good luck!

Slow Speed and Streaming Problems

Hello all,
I have 3 problems with my Jasjam and would really appreciate your help with the same:
1] My Hermes seems to be running really slow. I installed Task Manager and even when there are NO programs running the cpu usage is around 50-60%[is this even normal?!]. Also, it gets really slow after i play a couple of games on it and then get back to the main screen. I have 22MB of RAM and 5 MB of onboard memory free. I also have a 2gb microsd card.
Speed is back to normal when i do a softreset.
2] It gets really really slow when i run PocketPlayer or Pocket Music via a2dp and i cannot run any other appz. I have tried both the widcomm and stock bluetooth stacks with my ht820 and the speeds are horrible. Is there any other player that i can try which will significantly improve this situation?
3]I have installed the resco file explorer and can browse the network shared drive on my pc via wifi. The problem is that when i run any video file from the network i keep getting pauses every 10 secs[i am using coreplayer]. TO resume i need to press play again and then it lasts for another 10secs.
Thanks for your help in advance!
BR,
G

WMP problem with Mobile 6 BA

When I upgrade my O2 IIs to Win Mobile 6 of Helmi, I cannot watch wmv. files. They are played very slowly and are interupted many times. How can I solve this problem. Welcome and thank you for any advice.
me too, any solution?
video problems
Having video problems too.
TCPMP needs to start in portrait orientation otherwise video only plays in full screen mode.... quite annoying.
Playing certain games causes screen to lock while game starts with music in background.... had same problem with latest xplod kitchen, had to then revert to helmis wm5 ROM.
Did you try to play the video from main memory? I tried it with a .wma file and it plays ok from RAM but stutters when on SD Card. Maybe there is a driver problem with the SD Card that it is too slow?
Throught Wifi I usualy use Media Player to see TV channels (mms://195.245.176....) and the sound and image is OK no problem at all.
Also throught Activesync Sound and image is OK!!
I do not think that is a SD driver issue because with Audio Manager we can ear sound OK from SD source.
So I think that the problem is in the way WMP reads information from the SD card.
I confirm that one MP3 file played in SD card has sound problems (speed on playing in the begining, then stabilizes), the same file copied to the BA memory works great!!
With WMA files the situation is the same, some speed problems at the begining then stabilizes, from BA memory no problem!
PROBLEM DETECTED!!
Other thing i notice is that when running full screen the image does not rotate to landscape.
Does xplode and helmi agree with this?

How to get the most out of Bluetooth???

I have a Cingular 8125 with original WM5 ROM. Recently got a Bluetooth mouse and adapter for my laptop so I was trying to get 8125 paired up. It seems like very few bluetooth profiles show up. Previous devices (Loox, Ipaq2215) seemed to have a lot more profiles/services.
On my laptop I have this Bluetooth adapter with their recommendedToshiba Bluetooth drivers/stack...
http://www.amazon.com/Cirago-BTA-32...ref=sr_1_9?ie=UTF8&s=pc&qid=1213361477&sr=1-9
It would be nice to have a Bluetooth Utility that used all the available features. Is there anything to expand on the over-simple WM5 Bluetooth control panel? Something that shows more info/profiles/services from the other devices it sees via Bluetooth.
I got ActiveSync working with help from this thread...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=259946
I cannot get File Transfer to send to PC via Beam in WM5 file explorer.
I'd also like to find some cool software for phone to phone bluetooth, like a chat program or some games (even something simple like battleship ).
I found references to several addon programs...
-Sniper - bad links now though, is/was this freeware
-DR.jar - couldn't find the software
-Blueooth from pre-WM5 pocketpc200? OS, seemed buggy based on comments
So... is there anything new and free to help get the most out of this PC-8125 connection?
Thanks!!!
to xfer files to my PC with bluetooth I had to right click on the bluetooth icon in the tray and choose 'Receive a file'. Took me forever to figure it out. Have you tried this?
