t-mobile,AT&T,siemens sx56..just a bit confused..

hallo xda people,please do not think this is a stupid question , i am not an expert here and i see many posts talking about upgrades or problems for specific device names.
now I am a bit confused, are we talking of completely different devices or there are simply different models of the xda?and if this is the case how can i find out what version do i have?mine is an o2 xda and this is all i know.

Don't worry dear ... there is nothing so called stupid question
Yes there are many names for the same device... simply for registered trade marks of the suppliers, but at the end it's basically the same device ... unless you are one of those lucky people who got the XDA II :wink:
The difference will be mainly in the Radio part S/W according to the GSM operator you are dealing with.

let me check if i got what u meant.basically you are saing that there is no problem for ROM updates,only the radio Stack might cause some problems if the upgrade is not compatible,right?one more thing ,how do i find which is my version?

On your XDA: Start -> settings -> System tab -> Device information

First of all, if you excpet usefull answers you should select the right part of the forum to get answers. Since you have not an Wallaby device, but an O2 xda exec you shouldn´t post it in the Wallaby part. :wink:

Are you absolutely positively sure that you upgraded an Alpine? An XDA IIi?? A device with Wifi built in? A device with 1.3Mpixel camera? So far nobody has been able to do that, several people tried and bricked their device. So please double-check.
If you made a mistake and it's actually a Himalaya, please edit your posts. You do not want to be responsible for other Alpine users bricking their device.
But IF you are correct, that would be great news to all Alpine users!

t0kenn has only posted 2 identical posts in this board, does not reply to PM so either he/she is not aware of the huge difference between Alpine and Himalaya and doesn't know which he/she has. Or it's a tasteless joke.
Or... in the very unlikely case that it's true, feel free to experiment at your own risk of bricking yet another Alpine...

OK, i'm now totally confused here , i own an xdaIIi , Alpine , the wifi version , is this wm6 for the alpine or is it for the himalaya?? , someone please clarify...

Works in a Qtek 2020i????

Some of you said that Alpine cannot upgrade to WM05 or 06 just because of driver for wifi and camera, then the question is: is this possible that can move to WM05/6 without wifi and camera function?
If not what is the main reason that we cannot upgarde???

because the ROM wont be able to handle it.
think of it this way
would you put Vista (Puke) on a P2 266 or similar no why because it wouldn't handle it

I need to replace keypad for my XDA EXEC, and searched everywhere for how to take the phone apart but no luck.
