Tom Tom GPS and RealVGA @ 96dpi - Advantage X7500, MDA Ameo General

Question is, will tom tom software work at the 96dpi resolution or will you have to switch back to 192dpi?

it works....

Yes, i can also confirm it works great in all resolutions

Thanks for the feedback, could I bother one of you to post a screen shot at the 96dpi setting?
I am wondering if at 96dpi there is still the fat bars at the top and bottom of the screen taking up valuable real estate.
Or does TOMTOM Navigator run it's own screen with no WM6 bars??
Thanks
Keith

bump, request screen shot of TOMTOM @ 96dpi...
I can has cheezburger????

why need a screenshot it looks the same at every resolution.
No black bars, just full screen navigation the same as on any tt equipped device.
If the same could be said for IGO 8 then I'd buy that when it comes out, as I prefer it to TT but I think there's somewhere in between fat and no chance of it doing realvga.

Thanks you answered my question.

screen/resolution problem with igo

Hi there,
I have iGO 6 installed on my Athena and it works fine with lower resolutions. However when I change resolution to 128dpi or higher with RealVGA software, it doesn't work properly. The screen goes crazy (buttons relocated, non responding half screen etc). Does anyone know why and can you suggest any solutions?
thanx in advance

try searching! Eaglesteve has sorted this.
OK - so you can't actually find using search - nor can I.

The Menu Icon are now OK but the PIOs one still too small
TomTom 7 Build 9028 = normal icons
Build 9030 = small icons.
At least, that was my experience.

Could you please write your version? THX
P.S. Mine is 7.450 (9028) and everything is smaller than it was on the Trinity...
I experienced the same thing - moved from 9028 to 9030 and the icons shrunk.
Actually I got so pissed off with TomTom customer services that I am now trying out iGO8 and probably wont go back to TomTom. They are soooo greedy.
I have now bought 3 different maps for my Diamond and only one works (and its not the one I wanted in the first place!) I also paid the traffic subscription and it wont work with any of the maps I have. Now Tomtom are refusing to refund me on the other maps or even do some kind of exchange. Not the kind of customer service I expect and certainly not what is needed to retain custom!!!
I vote with my feet!!!

I've got the 7.450 (9028)
All is OK exepted the POI icon which still very (too) small
Got no problem what so ever with the 7.450 build 9028.
Everything works great and the icons are just normal.
I thing we can change the Icon size in a config file .... I will have a look...
Why not contact TomTom about this? I have seen a working VGA version of TT7 Build 9030. But I can't tell if there is a legal version of it.
The icons are not small, there are actually the same size as you have on your Trinity, or any other qVGA device for that matter. They look smaller because the Diamond has a VGA resolution.
So if you have a qVGA version on your device you should contact TT that you bought an incompatible verision. Some Diamonds are even shipped with TT7 (Build 9028 if I'm correct.) There are enough links to legal CAB's floating around on XDA
I have 9028 build and this is suposed VGA version.
All is OK with the "VGA Version" except the POI Icons....
I am running build 9028 and icons ARE small.
Even map is smaller than the navigator 6 on my Touch Cruise.
Any solution?
I noticed that some of the menus (e.g. choose what to show on the "homescreen") is normal size and the next menu is small.
Wierd....
what about some sceenshots instead of talking of "small" and "normal"?
I had a problem with custom cursors being small on TT7(9028). I just resized the bitmap and it worked.

I also tried changing the bitmap size but TomTom 7 just reverted back to the standard blue arrow, what size did you increase it to?
I'm using tomtom 7.450 (9028) cant complain much i looks great, fantastic res on screen
everything is smaller as its a very small screen however i can see a lot of the map on screen.
i'm using the 7.20 UK maps as tomtom only sell the euro map for the htc, it eats up a large chunk of the storage.
i already owned the 7.20 UK maps (much smaller about 120MB) for a TT PNA device and works great with a few tweeks (wink, wink,).

TomTom 6 working on Xperia?

Anybody got TomTom6 working on the Xperia without running the resolution fix first? Tomtom 6 is working on my Xperia, but the screen is all messed up because of the resolution if I don't run VModeSwitch first.
Yes it works
It was like magic: I just took my microsd from the hermes inserted it in the xperia and started tomtom from the microsd. Thats it . The only thing I had to do is selecting the gps: wired nmea gps with 4800 on com4 (if you didn't changed that).
No problem with display resolution or anything else.

Version
It is Version 6.00 (7370).
I'm running v6.00. Works fine both in landscape and portrait, the graphics are a bit slow, specially in landscape.

6.032 isn't working for me without WVGAFIX. How did you do that?
I use 7.9 vga version found on here, works beautifully...
Same here Works like a charm
Same for me... love TT7 on the X1, the resolution and bright screen make it look really smart.
Also loving the landscape view when you want to use the keyboard.

Keyboard too small in Tomtom

hello,
i've got tomtom 7 installed on my HD2 but the keyboard is extremely small. any idea how to fix that? changing in to large in preferences doesn't make any difference, it's about the size of the status bar on the bottom. the same version of tomtom on my i-mate 9502 works fine. any ideas? thanks.
Make room for a small one
Ironic as it sounds but go into your settings and change the keyboard to smal... its the same on the HD from what I can remember.. If it dont wok dont flame me as I dont own either device but did this on my mates HD and it worked ;-)
didn't work for me.
You need wvga version instead of qvga
I have tomtom 7.916 and the keyboard is perfect. Maybe you have an old tomtom version ?
I have found by using the BSB tweeks mod and enable the TOM TOM Prog to turn to landscape when you turn phone, the keyboard is made much much bigger
thanks for your replies.
small keyboard is the same as large, doesn't matter what i chose.
also, i don't know where i can get the wvga version as the only one i've got is the qvga.
i have tomtom 7.450 which is not newest but it worked fine on my vga screen in i-mate 9502.
I have a cab for 7.9 but it won't acknowledge my perfectly legal map.

We're not allowed to post links to warez sites, but if you were to look at the usual suspect ppc web sites I'm sure there are ways to activate your maps
As far as I know TomTom don't officially support the HD2 yet, but there are ways around this. If you have a legit map and legit TomTom software I personally don't have any issues with you using an alternative source for your downloads.

[Q] GPS (which GPS apk do you recomend ?)

Which GPS apk do you recomend to use ? With precise european maps & good graphics resolution for i5800 screen.
Sygic has not good resolution for i5800 and Navigon looks OK - but no experiences.
At Windows mobile I was very satisfied with Igo 8
As OpenStreetMap Contributor I would recommend MapDroyd or OsmAnd. For those who don't know openstreetmap, take a look at wikipedia (can't post links as new user...)
I am using copilot live, and love it really. great screen resolution, no crashing.

thanks, and what about maps ? does it cover middle europe ?
Take a look here: hxxp://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Android
And in Germany you can't get better maps than OpenStreetMap. And best thing is, even if there is something missing, just add it yourself. Maps are and will be free.
