Mini-sd slot broke

Today I removed my minisd card and put it back in shortly after, but something went horribly wrong
Somehow I broke the thing that holds the card in position so now it wont stick in.. so I tried to make it stuck in with a paper which works but it doesn't get recognized then, I guess the mechanism which holds the card always turns on a switch thats tells my wizard to start reading the card
Does anyone got any idea to fix it, cause this sux big time (I bought the phone a few months ago for €200), I cant find my receipt but ill try to get a copy of the shop .
Im so pissed right now

Nobody knows, the warranty is overdue
Could I open the phone and maybe fix it myself?
I got the service manual but not the tools, anyone ever seen the inside of the phone, would it even be possible to fix it?

i had a similar problem - had to buy another htc 8125 and unfortunately it came with a broken slot for the minisd card. At first i thought i wasn't pressing the card enough for the thing to click and hold it. Then i realised it was broken. As far as i could see from the little opening there was a white slider which is pushed down by the wider side of the minisd card. It has a spring behind it and somehow it has to click in down position and hold the card.
i tried to push it down with a very very small screwdriver and understand the way it worked. With my bad luck i pushed a little harder and broke that white slider. It just broke in the middle and one part stayed down and the other was pushed up by the spring. It broke exactly at the place where it was pushed by the memory card. So my card was not jumping anymore out - it just stayed in but was not recognised by the phone.
I didn't know what else to do so i found some instructions on how to open the phone and went for it with the hope to reach the memory card slot an hopefully fix it. HTC has taken good care of the stupid slot. It is soldered to the motherboard and nothing much could be done. There are 4 points that hold it but i didn't go that far to unsolder it (didn't know how many springs and other parts would jump out of it). Anyways - what i noticed was the following:
there are two small "plates" at the bottom of the slot. Wheny ou isnert the card they touch and i think this is what makes the slot active and knowing that there is a card in it. I had some dirt betwen them and that was preventing them from making a contact. After i removed that small piece of dirt and inserted the card it worked like a charm. It stays so tight in there now that i hardly can get it out - which is not that bad because i can always use the usb cable to transfer whatever i want.
I think i still have those manuals for opening the phone, so if you decide to go this far and can't find them i can send you an email.

There's no need to open or disassemble the phone to repair the slot,just apply a thin layer of any adhesive tape around it but make sure you do not cover the connectors and insert the card firmly in the slot.

But well even if I push it in it doesnt get detected(I added a piece of paper to hold it in but it didnt detect it still).
I think ill buy a torx screwdriver and open it.

I'll still advise you to check the mini sd in some other phone,if it still doesn't get detected than get a new one or it may need to be reformatted.Opening up the phone might lead onto more problems.

I got a 2gb minisd and a 512mb minisd both dont work so im sure its the phones fault , they have always worked fine.

sd card door problem

The lower pin doesnt snap into place and if I press some on the top end of the door the lower end pops out easily. Is there a fix for that?

dunno but the sd card location is a pretty ****ty design.
i guess htc didnt want to have the same problem the ppc6700 had where the sd card would go flying out the phone randomly so on the touch they decided to bury it inside.
as for your original question, call htc they might offer some type of warranty if it's that bad. i usually rub my finger back and forth to push it into place. usually that method works if you're in bed too

SD card door
This has to be close to the WORST design ever, they certainly didn't make it easy. Couldn't they have a little slot on the outside where you push your stylus to release the micro SD?
In your situation you might need to use something like a bit of gum on the inside, sort of icky but, I can't see a way of replacing that tab thing.

After using a few different PPC's, I'll be honest, I don't mind it since I can throw my 8GB SDHC in this bad boy! All my music, a few movies, and a bunch of House.

microSD cannot be read.

So...
I own a Bell Atrix. My carrier is Bell.
I flashed my phone with OLYEM 1.4.2.
Rooted it with Seven's script.
Made sure ADB was allowed to su.
Installed GingerBlur.
Phone got stuck in a reboot loop.
Re-flashed with OLYEM.
Now, I cannot mount my microSD. The settings show as unavailable and the manual mount is greyed out. I have tried a battery pull, a different microSD etc. My microSD works flawlessly in a different phone. I really do not know what crapped it. Was it GingerBlur, the flashing or just bad luck...
This means I cannot root the phone anymore and im stuck with OLYEM and a defective phone.
I took the phone to Bell for repair. They said it's been over 30 days from the buy date so they have to send it to an external firm to have it checked... I just hope they will not come back to me saying I voided my warranty.
Please let me know if you have had this problem or if you think there is something to be done if worst comes to worst.

I had the same issue but it wasn't related to updating. I had to take the sd card out and press down on the metal piece that holds the card in place to get it to have better contact. This worked for a while and then i pressed down even harder and it wouldn't read at all so I had to stick something under the metal thing and pry it back up and now it works great.

Just semantics, but it should be "micro SD", rather than "mini SD" (which is a different card type).

What did you stick under it to pry it back up? I may have to do this myself so I just want to know,

I used the semi-pointed but round end of a nice pen to press it down and when I had to reverse it I used the nail file part of some little finger nail clippers. Just stuff I had sitting around at my desk at work

Thanks for the suggestion! If I get it back and it's not fixed, I will try that. Bell rep told me it would take from 3 to 6 weeks. Yeah... 6 weeks.
Meanwhile, they gave an HTC Desire Z. I really like SenseUI. It works so much better for me when I compare it to Motoblehh. However, I do not like the feeling of the phone. The movable parts do not appeal to me.

Ok, going really basic and this probably is not your issue, but I just had the same issue with a camera and one phone not recognizing one of my cards. I had to reformat it in windows and it has worked perfectly since. Probably because I was switching between so many devices or just coincidence, just passing this on.

i just get this issue i want to try gingerbreak and i couldnt find my micro sd i reboot and so on many times, perhaps i make it work you need push pretty well, and try moving when its on the phone

There are two metal plates that need to make contact - if they don't the card isn't detected.

In the lower left of the sd card slot you can see the two plates. When the card is in the slot, these two plates should touch. When I got my phone, they were not touching, so I bent them slightly to make the contact.
If the link doesn't work, just go to the iFixit teardown and look at the pics at the bottom of the first page.

I just got my phone back. Looks like the firmware flash was what broke the phone. The repair slip shows a software update only.
Im just happy they repaired it. I think I will wait for a Bell SBF...

i cant remove microsd

Today i put a micro sd "sandisk" in my tablet but now i dont be able to remove it, when i push it nothing appen and the sd dont turn out, what is the correct metod to do this?

It's quite a firm fit, push it in with your fingernail and the spring will launch it out across the room.

Or if you dont have any fingernails use something like an opened paperclip or a table knife to push the microsd card in far enough to eject it.

Does your tablet show that the micro sd card is in it's slot? I hope you didn't jam it between something. When first using my sd card slot I had to be careful. It felt like the inside of the slot had edges that made inserting the card a little difficult. I always listen for the 'click' when seating or unseating the card. Good luck.

Mine won't eject, either. I can feel it springing, but it doesn't pop out. I had to use a small flat screwdriver (think: eyeglass repair kit) to get it out.
Not a HUGE deal, since I likely won't be taking the SD card out much.

I would just get an exchange if I were you. Never know what you might break accidentally trying to pry it out.

After much work i've get out the sd, probably i push too hard. Now i push it very softly and im able to take out the sd without problem. Thanks to all

I find that if I push a little to the right (where the tabs on the SD card are) w/my fingernail, then it usually clicks and comes right out.

I almost lost my microsd a couple of times as it likes to shoot out across the room whenever I try to remove it.

If you can, return it. There is problem with some of the tf101's. My sd went in and i couldn't get it out. I used a razor blade to remove it. Now that i have a replacement i also noticed the power button was also recessed to far in on the one with the bad card slot. On the replacement unit the power button and volume rocker function much much better.

Nook won't turn on....

Yikes. So today I discovered there was something wrong with my NookManager SD card when my computer would not read it. I reformatted and wrote a fresh image and then wanted to make a backup (since the previous one was lost). I shut off my Nook without any problem.
But I nearly could not get it to come back on! And I never have succeeded in getting it back on (only twice so far) with the SD card in, so I haven't been able to do a back up {smoke comes out of ears!}. It is fully charged.
I've always thought the switch on the back was a little wonky but this is so sudden and, of course, at the worst possible juncture. Is there something I could have done in the system which would make the Nook difficult to turn on? Or is my number simply up and the power switch is all-but failing?
ADD: I just popped the SD card out for a sec and tried again and it came on almost on the first try. It reads the normal SD card just fine (where books and such are stored). Can there really be something with the NM SD card that is keeping the device from turning on? I just tried again with the storage SD card in place and the Nook started up once again without problem... And now it won't....has to be the switch?
EDIT: It's got to be the $#%& switch. I finally got it to come on with the NM SD card inserted and did a backup--which I copied over to my laptop. I tried invoking a reboot via wireless ADB with the NM SD card inserted to see if a warm boot was sufficient to the task. It worked! I may never turn off my Nook again.

I had a similar problem when my Nook was almost brand new, I came to the conclusion that it was a problem with the way the microSD card was inserted, it wasn't right somehow. I had problems when I first had the NST with getting it to work with a card inserted. SO, there may in fact be an issue with your card.
That said, now that I have had my Nook for a while, and made much use of the on/off button, I do indeed have issues with it. I practically have to grip it with visegrips to get it to do anything. I plan to remove the plastic button and investigate further soon, I will try to let you know what, if anything, I find out when I do.
I do already know that it is a more or less typical metal dome.button switch I suspect it has become deformed with use.
More when I have details/proof.

Well... Color me embarrassed...
It is, in fact, a sealed solder-mounted part, probably containing the above type dome/button, but it is a discrete part. At least on my NST.
I did, however, find that the screw just above it, that holds the case back in place (it slides off once the screw (AND the SD card!) is removed) was slightly loose, as were all the screws inside that held the circuit board to the front case. Not significantly loose, but a good 1/3rd to half turn for the inside screws, and maybe a bit more for the one above the switch.
Also, there was a fair bit of ... dirt, dust, white stuff, I dunno what it was, but we'll call it dirt for the moment, between the external switch cover/button and the case itself.
So, I cleaned that all out (a good blast of canned air), removed the back case and tightened all the screws, replaced the case back and the screw that holds it in place, and popped the external 'button' for the switch back in place.
End result, the switch now seems to work much more easily and reliably, without having to use a 'death grip' on the button at all.
This is the second time I have been inside my NST, and I found the tear-down instructions online, somewhere. It has been a LONG time, so I don't remember where, but I'm sure you can Google for it.

P.S. I should also say thanks to you, for being the prompt that got me to fix my own issue with the switch, it was driving me bonkers at times, but in itself wasn't enough to make me break out the tiny screwdrivers! SO, here's to you, fellow Nook user, and I hope my story helps you!

Yipes... I've done just about everything else to my poor Nook but I'm really timid about opening it up (although I generally take wayward electronics apart at the drop of a hat). I dislike cases that were not meant to ever be opened again by human beings. Too much chance of cosmetic damage. But...... I'll soldier along with it using ADB to initiate reboot until I encounter a situation where that does not work (or my Nook freezes and I can't get it to reboot with the power button....).
But thanks for letting me know and indicating there is a way to get inside. I think I must have come across that also at some point and probably shuddered at the thought!

Actually, other than popping out the power button on the back, which is pretty easy, the case opens nicely.One screw, which is under the power button (and a paper tamper seal ), and with no card in the card reader slot, you simply slide the case apart and the back comes loose from the front easily. And, slides back together just as nicely.
Let me see if I can find the tutorial on how to take it apart. I'll edit with the link if I do...

EDIT: Here's this one, focus isn't always great, but at least the action is always onscreen. I used a very small screwdriver instead if the Simcard, you could also use what's called a splooge, a plastic thingy for prying apart plastic cases... You will also need a T5 torx driver.

I use the small blade on my Swiss Army knife.
If you push the power button very gently (not actuating) you will cause a gap in the lower edge.
Insert the blade a bit under the edge and pry both upward and outward.
