Change SD Card on WM6 - MDA III, XDA III, PDA2k, 9090 ROM Development

Hi!
I follow the tutorial in the wiki page to upgrade my BA from wm2003 to WM6 and it works really great. Great work u guys!
I made the operation to unhide and unlock extrom and if i understood it well my extrom was extended to my sdcard.
I was wondering if i could remove my sd card and change it for another.
Thanks
Carlos

Carlos,
extrom is in no way connected to your sdcard. feel free to remove/replace your currect sdcard.

You need to use sd card flashing method, your phone will be ok, just look around the forum look for sd card flashing.

OK but how can i reflash my SX56 with SD cadr if I don't have any back up ?
plus everybody has bootloader 5.17 or older but my is 5.22 :-(
Hello,
you have 2 options both use SD card:
1. get ROM backup from any other working XDA.
2. get SD card reader/writer. change the extention of the ROM file you cooked to .zip and use winzip to extract a file named NK.nbf under \english directory. use the SD writer to copy this file to the SD card.
in both cases, insert the SD card into your XDA and use the bootloader.
good luck ...
similar problem last year
Hiya Mike2001,
I had a similar problem last year. I found that while the ActiveSync monitor shows no connectivity you will still be able to transfer an OS image. One hiccup I did find, and I am running wallaby 5.17 by the way, is a version conflict with the proposed rom and existing header information. This is a windows registry problem on your PC caused by the crash which needs to be deleted prior to attempting the upgrade.
Hope this helps,
Cheers,

ROM upgrade to PPC2003

I am wanting to upgrade my xda1 to ppc2003. I do not want to change the RSU.
Has anyone done this with their xda1, on O2 in the UK?
If so, which ROM version is best to use. I have been to
http://lumpistefan.dyndns.org/ but as an amature at this and seen so many saying they have fried their machines I am dubious on a hit and miss approach. I did apply the upgrade on the O2 site for both the ROM and RSU, but I did have instructions to follow.
Which is also the best way of installing. If an SD card, can this have other things on it or does it have to be blank?
A step by step guide would be much appreciated.
Thanks
if it comes as an exe file then change the extention to zip and copy the nbf file out and use xdatools to flash it to a empty sd card after you've don that the sdcard reader should not be able to read the sdcard any more then you put the sdcard in the xda and enter the bootloader and it's pretty much automatic from there

Idea for Anansky and those who can cook ROM for us

Just an idea for Anasky and others,
Why don't we create small ExtROM with only minimal necessary file and xBACKUP program to restore previous Data from SD card.
If we have complete backup data on SD card, we can restore back from SD card after Hard Reset. And we have big \storage folder size, since the ExtROM is small. This way we still can recover from Hard Reset and restore all program to RAM.
Just my 2 cents
Regards,
Arto.
"minimal necessary" may have different definition for different people.
For me, I like the current idea to fully get rid of the ExtROM and install whatever we like afterward.
Jackleung,
Yes, but if you are far away from PC, and suddenly run out of battery, and your devices need hard reset......
Not everyday happend, but who knows
Regards,
Arto
Another question: Is the now bigger storage usable for automatically installing software after a hardreset? Is it used instead of the (now missing) Ext_Rom for auto-install?
hi!
divide space between \storage and ExtROM can be done easyly, but i know only one good use -
place some apps to ExtROM which MUST start HIDDEN after hard reset,
now i know only one app which require this method:
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=IIWPO
any other apps, and apps was at ExtROM too, can be run from any place -
SD card or \Storage
xBackup resides in OS ROM, so, after hard reset it will appear and can be use for restoring backup from SD card or \Storage, so we don't need to place it to ExtROM fs.
Anansky,
So do you mean actually if the ExtROM is nothing inside, maybe some parameter to adjust \storage space, we can hard reset and get xBackup to restore the RAM to its working condition before we flashing empty ExtROM?
This could be the easier way for ExtROM to get max \storage space and working magician
Thanks!
Arto
yes, of course.
programs from extrom installed to RAM and after you restore they restored too!
you can download programs in ExtROM from ftp and instll it manually, from sd card for example.
Anansky,
Just my curiouscity.
Actually where is the modification for 27mb \storage take place? On the ROM or on the ExtROM?
Thanks!
Arto
Hi ANANSKY,
Why don't you tell others, what modifications you did in the ROM?
Please don't tell me the bull**** like "it is too complicated" and such...
I know what I'm doing...
We are hunting the missing RAM in wm2k5, maybe it will help if you FINALLY tell the story...
At least if you'd answer something like "NO, I will keep it for myself only".
This forum is here for sharing the knowledge i guess...

Where can I get the rom PPC2002 to be used with the SD Card?

Where can I get the rom PPC2002 to be used with the SD Card?
I have a wallaby with the offical T-Mobile USA ROM (4.0.16 ENG) and would like to upgrade it to the WM2003SE.
I have cooked a new 2003SE rom from lumpisteven's romkitchen. Man, I'm really impressed with this nice web site!
However, my wallaby cannot accept the flashing from the exe file directly. I noticed Lumpi's note that I might need to downgrade to PPC 2002 first before by using the SD card method.
I looked for the PPC2002 rom in the xda-dev romversions list, all of the rom there are in the EXE format. Where can I find such version that can be used to flash my wallaby from a SD card?
Thanks!
Extract the EXE-File using winzip. YOu will get a folder english that contains the ROM NK.nbf (about 32 MB). You have to use this file for SD-Card flashing....
Stefan
Thanks LumpiSteven! I follow your instruction and I have succesfully got my Wallaby loaded with WM2003SE!

Extended ROM and WM 6.0

I've installed Indra's WM6.0 ROM and everything looks promising.
I used to use the EXT ROM to install programs rather than installing them on storage card as I use different memory cards. But now with the new 6.0 ROMs, it won't allow me to install any programs or save any files.
I tried to search for it but couldn't find any info. If anyone can enlighten me on how to save or install programs on EXT ROM as a regular memory card, I would be grateful.
i just used the extrom unlocker as usual and it presents me with the option during setups that support installing not on internal storage (midget's wm6 rom)
Hi!
For my experience: you can up another old ROM, use ExtROM unlock then up again with WM06, it will be use Extended Rom.
extrom is unlocked by default in the current 3 crossbow releases

I know that it's been unlocked but it seems like we cannot save files or programs into it.
Can anyone confirm that if I load an older ROM and install a new one, I'll be able to save files in it.
TIA
I'm using Midget_1990 and installed a lot of programs in the storage (Ext Rom) with no probs
