I upgraded my Cingular 8525 from WM5 to WM6. Now, I cannot view any downloaded MMS videos or pictures. They load to my device, but when I try to view them, I only see some kind of picture or video icon on the MMS viewer. I can send without a problem. Any ideas?
Server Setting?
I had a friend that had the same problem. In his case, needed to change the server setting to use MEdia Net.
In the message app:
- select Menu/Tools/Options
- select MMS
- select Servers/Cingular MMS
- set Connect via to MEdia Net
Ive got this problem too but mine is already set to medianet...
I still have this problem... The MMS is downloading, but only a generic video or picture icon is displayed in the viewer. I really like WM6, but I'll have to downgrade if this doesn't get solved. Please help!!
NEVER MIND... PROBLEM SOLVED. I found the solution in another forum. The culprit was the Audio Manager. Just delete it (I never used it anyway) and voila... all of my MMS messages (pictures and videos) magically appeared and were viewable. Tah dah!
Removed HTC Audio manager also fixed my problem.

Hi,
I believe the image from factory supported this (i'm 99% sure) but all new images i've tried does not, i'm not sure where the problem lies though.
Has anyone tried this?
Afaik, an MMS is basically a WAP link sent through SMS, which will then be downloaded over GPRS - but as this is over internet it might as well be done over the ActiveSync internet connection instead ?
Please tell me there's a tweak to make this work, as i work with MMS and WAP, and like to view the screen of my phone on desktop (through AS) for display on projector for demonstration.
i can send and recive mms/sms but when i get a pic or video i can not view them (like there missing codec or something) i have to save and use windows media player to view them the mms player will not work can some one help please to i need to change the mms software and how do i do that been looking online every where ill post a video of it all if it will help...
I share your pain
I too have the same problem, but it's not VP3G's WM6 Rom that is giving you the problem. I have tried several or the newer WM6 Roms, and in my opinion it's the updated MMS Composer. Version 3.5 works best for me and has a send limit of 600k. Version 4.0 is just like you said, it seems to be missing some codecs or is not integrated properly. Tis version also imposes a 300k send limit. I have post this problem a couple of times myself, but it seems we are the only two having this problem. To verify it's a codec problem try this: send your self an mms message from your computer's email account. My carrier is AT&T so my phone's mms address is my ten digit cell [email protected] (example: [email protected]). send yourself an audio wav file less than 300k. It should play as it would in version 3.5. Hopefully some will have pity on me and create a Version 3.5 cab file of MMS Composer, but until then I'm using Sleuth's new rom. The MMS composer works great for me. Hope this helps.
I've searched all over but can't see a reference to this, so I suspect I'm missing something basic - sorry if that's the case!
I have an (ex) O2 XDA Mini S that has been unlocked and is running on Orange UK. This worked OK, but was slow and had all the O2 settings, customisation etc.
I followed the steps to hard reset and then stop any customisation and that worked fine. The unit now performs (and looks IMO) much better. I have set the Orange GPRS and MMS settings and (GPRS anyway) works fine.
Everything is synced up etc, but the one thing that is missing is an MMS "Account" - i.e. if I go into Messaging and choose "Switch Accounts", there is no MMS option (I get Hotmail, Outlook and Text Messages). I do have the MMS configuration option which I have gone through and set up.
I went to the ROM and ran the SmartDialing_enable_0915_signed and CAB-Shortcut-MMS1-JAVA5XX-VOICE-O2-31Oct05 cab files. This seems to have worked because I get the quick dialling and the Midlet manager has appeared, but still no MMS composer.
I don't want to run the full O2 customisation as I have no interest in running this with O2 and would have to change all the settings anyway.
Can anyone help with info or pointers as to what I may have missed to get the MMS option please?
TIA

Thanks - do you mean this thread?
If so then that seems to relate to settings, which is not my issue - I have the settings and have configured the MMS server, but can't see the MMS "account" in the messaging menu.
try to search MMS_Composer_Z.cab file on forum....i downloaded it from xda-developers but i cannot remember where...
I have tried to remedy this problem many times and i cannot figure it out. Basically i can send MMS messages perfectly fine, but i cannot receive them. The messages are are actually received, but internet explorer opens to try to download the message and display it.
Iam on O2 PAYG in the uk. So Pocket IE replys with the message I.E cannot open the page check your connections.
That part of the problem, with Internet explorer not being able to open the page ,i understand but not why it is trying to open it or why it even does it in the first place. Pocket Outlook should be opening to receive the message. I have hard reset, installed over 20 different roms, original and cooked and all different versions of arcsoft mms but with no luck.
So i am hoping that someone can shed some light on what is causing this.
Thanks for reading and any replys
This may just be a shot in the dark....
But my mms settings has a gate way that is an ip address and the server address that is a web address (example http://mms.gocbw.com:8080/mms).
I'm wondering if reversing them would cause what your saying?
I'm guessing that it would just not work, but it was the only thing I could think of.
I guess I'm done rambling now...heh
Hope you find your problem.
Hello,
I searched this forum, but I was unable to find a similar discussion: do you have issues when trying to send an MMS? I'm unable to send, the message that keeps bothering me is: "Cannot connect for an unknown reason. To check your connection settings and change them if needed..." etc. I tried looking at the connection settings, but the MMS ones look ok. Also, all other connections (internet, weather, etc) work ok.
Any idea?
OK, I've done some research and it seems the issue is with the HTC Messaging app that completly replace the WinMo one. For my network operator settings to work, I need to enter the following information: MMS server IP: port AND server address (http://wap.mms.orange.ro:8002).
They instruct me to enter them by selecting Start-Messaging-SMS/MMS Options - but this is obviously WinMo messaging application, which seems inaccesible due to the HTC one!
Any help on this?
HTC messaging - settings - options
menu - mms server.
Found it - thanks. The settings were already configured (probably due to Automatic configuration run when the phone first booted) - so the problem is still here.
Any idea if "Connect via" makes any difference? Now Orange MMS is selected; should I try to select a data profile (i.e. the one used by Opera)?
Yes, it should connect via whatever the standard data profile is.
