password is no correct - MDA III, XDA III, PDA2k, 9090 ROM Development

I have a problem after the update WM6. The password is wrong after removing the battery or at a leg battery. I must install everything again (hardreset). How can this occur to become? With no password en removing the battery there's no problem, but the e-mailaccounts are deleted?

This is problem for me too; I don't think anyone has a solution.
Or can someone say otherwise without a complicated reset routine?

Solution
Hi Guys..
The only way to skip this password screen taht i found was it:
Do a HARD hard reset (All data will be lost).
just soft reset first your device, than after you see the stripped screen, press the record and camera button quickly before the the version appears (radio,etc).. then you will see the three options..
enable kitl should be no
clean registry hive should be yes
format storage should be yes
to choose just use the camera and record to change the options...
No more..
I hope that it help.

Does exist a soft reset utitly that bypasses the PINrequest?

On my Nokia 9500 I have a very small reboot utility that remembers the PIN. So you do not to have to type that in. The reset brings you directly to the startup screen.
Would be nice on my Jasjar, because, before using the new Skype, I still have to soft reset to get it working.
Huib
I changted the header of my question so it is more clear.
Why not just disable the pin? That would be much easier and as safe as having it entered automatically, ie not at all!

I understand your question. And I think I was not clear enough:
The software reboots without asking for the PIN. I think that is better said.
It is really handy!
So if you remove/put back e.g. the 9500 battery of course the PIN is needed again.
I am not brilliant, but not that stupid!
Huib
I changed the header now, so the question is more clear.
Hmm this sounds like a "warm boot". I don't think the PocketPC has such a mode. Just soft reset only, which goes straight through the normal startup process, requiring all PINs (SIM pin and OS password). These could be entered automatically (at least SIM pin), but again, that would remove the need to have the pin entirely.
V
It could be possible.
Activate the program,
Program sets the phone to No PIN,
sets a file in StartUp folder to load a proggi that reactivates the Pin,
Reboots without Pin,
loads the proggi from Start Up folder that sets the Pin back on,
Delete the file from Start Up folder
Question is offcourse if it is programatically possible to alter the Pin On/Of function?
Would be great to have this option build into Pocket Plus Software Soft Reset
That would all be easy enough I think. SIM Pin can be done programatically I think. Could be scripted.
I think Wivit's dual sim does something similar. But, it's not done internally in the OS.

clock resets when battery removed

Why is that? Since I upgraded to WM6, and I remove the battery the clock resets to 12:00 in 2004
that's basically the only weird thing I have with wm6 on the blue angel so far... what an upgrade
I think it could be, because when you remove the main battery the backup doesn't last very long (20 mins max last time i checked in the manual).
How long do you remove the main battery for?

2 seconds to switch sim card
Just test on my: remove battery, wait 20sec, reconnect (no R G), soft reset, everything OK on date/time.
Maybe your backup battery is dead?

why do you softreset after removing the bat..?
edit: just tried it again, reset again... backup battery was fine on wince3... it's at 100%
ow well, I can live with it, it's not that I remove the battery all the time, and active sync adjusts the clock anyway...
No R G on the boot screen...just to get my radio back

yeah I've noticed that too on my test qtek... but on mine it's always there
to save you the hassle of manually changing the time/date or docking it in the crade, try this:
1. soft reset. as soon as you see the 4-color screen (DO NOT WAIT for the R, G, and D values to be shown), remove the battery.
2. replace the battery
3. turn on the phone. soft reset. when you see "none" values for R and G, soft reset again.
the time/date will be retained.
Hi there,
I have the same issue. In fact, each time I remove battery, even for 1 sec, I lose Date/time and "lock buttons" setting. Nothing else.
I tried what you said, but nothing changed. I just noticed that the "R None" comes directly after I turn on the phone (your 2nd step).
I am doing something wrong ?
i missed some steps. before you remove the battery, you should not wait for the RGD values to be shown... it should be only the 4-color screen.

ok... that actually works... so I have to do that every time I want to remove the battery safely?
thanks for the help.

yes indeed, it's the Date/time and the lock buttons, and any buttons you redefined (I always redefine the record button as screen rotate button)...
but that's all fixed now
It works for me when I follow the steps exactly as described. Thanks Raymonds - it saves me from the pain of reloading all my apps and syncing up with exchange... which I've done may be 4-5 times already.
This should be added to WIKI IMO
yes, i guess it should be in the wiki. please feel free to place it there (i don't know how... i might mess it up)
i happened to come up with this combination by accident... crude, but effective.

Probably you are loosing:
- wifi settings (paswords etc)
- bluetooth pairing
too
It looks like part of Hard Reset procedure, but without clearing registry not memory.
But hard reset doesn't clear "button lock" settings
I have no problem with data / time, but could anyone tell me what "R none" and "G none" means? I had this problem since yesterday. I switched on my phone: softreset. Then the two "none" values. And I couldn't phone anyone. I already thought that I had erased my Radio ROM somehow.
Now I read your instructions: softreset, battery remove immediately, battery in and again softreset. Now I have correct values in "R" and "G", but my phone says "SIM card not valid". Hmm....
Has someone an idea?
Thank you,
Alex
EDIT: After this procedure I loose my date/time settings. But this is no problem, I just want to get my phone back
EDIT2: I removed the SIM again and put the battery in, then again R and G "none". After a softreset, the values are back. But still (without SIM) it says "SIM not valid". When I tap on the digits, it thinks I want to enter a PIN (and I have no PIN)...
Alegra, the "NONE" issue is caused by the bootloader going to quickly, so the radio has not been initialized by the time the OS starts to query it. If the OS boots up, there is effectively no radio for it to use. I'm not sure why this causes settings to be lost, possibly just bad handling of the error condition.
Basically, whenever you replace the battery you should be prepared to hit reset once the four bars appear. This needs done every time you do this.

I am a heavy user of two batteries, isn't there a permanent fix for this? I am sure the M$ didn't design their new OS for battery devices that loose settings when the battery is removed.
I also use more than one battery. Always having to reset the date and time is cumbersome. Has there been any resolution?

stucked on 2nd splash screen

hi guys, this might seem to be posted a lot of times but i havent found anyone who experienced the same problem as me. ive flashed a custom rom (not found in xda dev) and the phone went well for 3 weeks to a month.however, today(lunchtime) i had a problem i soft reset my device and i was stuck at the 2nd splashed screen. i dont think my hermes is bricked because i can do anything a normal hermes do before. (pda function, calls, sms) really no problem at all until today. ive done what the wiki said like
Problem 2: stuck on windows mobile screen
Try to soft reset with stylus and wait 5 minutes on the windows mobile screen to see if OS boots
If all you get is same windows mobile screen, remove the battery for some time (about 20 min should be enough) and put it again.
Again, if all you get is same windows mobile screen do a hard reset.
If doesn't solve the problem do a hard reset, but do not press spacebar to reboot after. Instead, do a soft reset with stylus when the device asks you to press spacebar.
Check if you might have the NO GSM Problem
well i cant go pass the 2nd splash screen so what i did was hard reset it. and problems gone. my concern is ive lost a lot of documents because of what happened. so i just wanna ask you guys what could be the problem and the solution to prevent this from happening again.
much respect to all here!
TIA
What do you do just before the problem occur?
best thing to do is hard reset you phone this will reinstall you OS and resolve the problem. You need to old the 2 top soft key and press the reset but with your stylus. This will then bring then take u into the hard reset mode. follow the prompts on ur screen by using your keyboard .
This will work as i have experienced the same problem
kind regards
Ash
Did u happen to
a) disable the bottom tray
or
b) set PIE cache to storage card?
Both tend to cause this, tho not in every case.

Locked, but password wont work.

Ok, I have an AT&T 8525 version. It's been upgraded to WM6 using the official patch, and the only other thing I had running on it was SPB shell trial version or something. I set a lock password, where when ever you turned the screen on you had to enter a password to access the device. With the Shell trial thingie it would actually give you the clock first, which was why I was trying it.
Now, my problem is this. I'm an idiot and my phone got dunked in water. I took it apart, well, took the battery out, SIM card, etc, anything I could get out without dismantling the whole phone. Took compressed air and blew on it until my can froze up and I had to surgerically remove my fingers from the can o' air (ok, exaggeration there). Anyways, if I call the phone, it rings and does what it needs to. The problem is that I can't unlock the stupid phone now. I'm not forgetting the number, it just won't accept it. I'm up to 8 mins of wait time before I can reenter it as well.
So, my question, is there a way to break the lock code without destroying the data on the phone? If no, how do I reset the phone completely? Do I have to do a hard reset? Can I take it to AT&T to get them to reset it?
And one big question, does the reset go past WM6 and revert to WM5?
Thanks all.
anything, anyone?
Just having the same problem myself.
Didn't dunk in water, but found wi-fi was locking up so did a soft reset with the sylus in the reset hole and when it rebooted, it would not accept the password.
Apperently, this is a common fault with WM6 where if you reset (or lose power whilst settings are in cache memory) the phone 'forgets' your password.
Maybe this is what has happened to yours - the only way round it is a hard reset.
Must be a "feature" not a bug.
*sigh*
Makes me pretty hesitant on ever using the feature again. I'm having serious issues trying to get it back to Syncing w/ my desktop and letting me access the device as a folder. Right now it's just powering up but nothing else.
How to reset the password
Ive just updated my rom to wm6 2days ago. Now im having the same problem...my device was set to auto off after 3min then when turned on... password prompt...i know the password...but was not accepted. Tried to re-flash wm6 but nothing happened. Anyone plsss help!!!! Thank you very much in advance!
Unit: XDA IIs,WM6 from Helmi & etc (thnk u very much guys ...u know who u r)

Hard reset worked for me. Only issue now is I can't get it to allow me to explore the device any more. It'll sync emails, etc, but won't let me access the device while connected to the USB.
The WM6 I used was the official version, not sure if that's a difference.

Can't access 'Settings'

I installed some software, a voice activation software, and now it crashes everytime i try to navigate to settings to remove the software. I have to reset it from the back everytime.
How can I sort this out
Sounds like time for a hard reset?

I'm fairly certain you are going to have to hard reset too. Sorry
i just suffered the same fate thanks to my MT4.
btw , if you have sktools, you can try the remove program from there too
How do I do a hard reset? Wasn't that only done through the settings option on the phone?
Hard reset means you return the Xperia to "out of the box" state ...you loose all data and programs
1. turn off the phone
2. Hold both right and left buttons (the hardware buttons that stick out a bit, right under the screen)
3. press power button, while still holding the others
4. follow on screen instructions (to press "R" to confirm reset, slide out and use the hardware keyboard)
thread
I had exactly the same problem this week.
I had bought the program and installed it successfully. However after installing it again after a hard reset, it did exactly as you describe, crashing when you try to access settings.
I think the version I had purchased was MSVoiceCommand_1.6.17913.CAB. There is a version getting around these forums (MSVC_US_PPC_1.6.19209.bengalih.CAB) which did the trick for me.
Hope this helps

I'm scared installing any other voice command now, I've reset the phone too many times.
IS this software even that good?
I had the same problem too
In lieu of installing a 3rd party software (eg sktools, memmaid, etc) you could try uninstalling it via active sync. Or maybe remove it from the startup programs then soft reset.
