SO Ive bought a Softbank X01HT (Hermes). Its got a Japanese OS and apparently cant be switched to EN base (someone please correct me if Im wrong about that.)
Ive been doing homework and reading up on how to go about flashing to WM6 in English. When it occurs to me that if I flash it, and everything goes well... I wont be able to read and write Japanese messages.
I am assuming that unlike Windows which will support multiple languages with an IME that WM will not do this. Im hoping someone is running EN with JP support and will correct my assumption...

I accedently bought a P3300 with swedish language when I need it in english. Can I make some upgrade or anything to get it in english? Maybe just a rom upgrade, and where do I find these roms?

Of course you can change to english when you're flashing to another rom - there are a lot of different ROMs here (cooked/modified or shipped ones)...
The only thing you'll have to do before upgrading is installing USPL, otherwise you'll brick your phone....
just read the wiki pages, there you'll find all informations you're searching for

That's not necessarily "the only thing" you'll have to do. When I changed the language of my wife's phone from English to Finnish, I also needed to tweak the country code of the WM6 software ("original HTC"). So I opened the RUU file in WinHexEdit, wrote down the country code of English WM6 and after that I opened the RUU file of Finnish WM6 software. I changed the country code to an English one (needed to change 6 hex digits), saved it and after that I just launched the EXE file of Finnish WM6. Worked.
Well, changing the Swedish language to English one may be easier since there are lots of tweaked ROMs around but if you'd do it other way round (English->Swedish), you'd definitely have to tweak the country code of Swedish ROM since there aren't any tweaked Swedish ROMs available, are there?
Now I just wish that someone could tell me how to tweak the country code of HTC Home program???

I've been reading the forums and the wiki a lot lately but I still have some doubts, I owned a Blue Angel before, so I'm not a total newbie but i wouldn't trust myself as an "expert".
I'm from Spain and recently purchased online one unlocked T-mobile Wing and altough I can manage myself on shakespeare's language and touch-it roms look awesome, I'd prefer to start with this one in plain old spanish; Question is:
Are "Tmo Wing" and "HTC P4350" roms interchangeable? meaning... can I install spanish P4350 rom (http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=Herald_Upgrades) on my wing? or are some model-hardware differences that could get me in trouble?
Are there some other options for what i want?
If roms aren't straight compatible, could I just cook spanish HTC rom to work on my wing? What should I modify? Where i can find more info on it?

I have the reverse problem. I just replaced a stolen 6515 in Amsterdam with a Dutch 6915. I thought it would be easy to change it to english ...WRONG! Now I'm sitting here with hp telling me there's NOTHING to do about it and these forums all seem to either confirm or confuse. Does ANYONE know if a Dutch 6915 can be successfully changed to english? This is not possible
Windows Mobile firmwares with TouchScreen are "mono langage".
The only way to change the langage is to flash an other firmware with a Gold Card.

thanks guys, both,... figured this out but was misled by orange france who specifically told me through 'online' help, in writing that it was possible to change the language,... you can change the 'region' but not the language, and, i just read that the 'goldcard' does not work with orange france,...
this is getting complicated,...! i have 4-other htc devices, 2 of them from orange, and it was a breeze to change everything,... now, you have to be a 'rocket scientist' which i am not,...

I've bought the HTC HD Mini few days ago and can't get email reply/new messages working on a fresh Multilingual Swiss French install. Once I click reply/new message nothing happens...
Tried several times hard reset but still nothing. I have tried to install the Swiss German version a it work like a charm.
I'm very new to WM and HTC products and I'm very frustrated not being able to write and reply to my mails.
Please could someone help me to get this working.

In fact, they respond to me that I have to phone directly to the EU support.

Hi. I have the same problem with a HD mini multilingual GER FRE ITA.
I could perform some tests, the problem appears only when you install it in Italian or French. Installing it in German it works fine.
I opened a ticket by HTC, they answered that they are aware of the problem and they are already working for a solution. I hope there will be a patch downloadable from the support site ASAP.

In fact, I suppose the french and italian version to create a wrong folder "mail-Anlage" on SD card. Perhaps if some one could be able to give me the right folder name in French, I could try to work aroud this issue.
I looked for the name in my old Windows Mobile 5.0 device and I tried to rename that folder, but no luck.
Perhaps it has been changed in Win Mobile 6.5...
I'll wait for an official answer by HTC.

Hoping it resolves this issue I tryed to update the ROM to the last official one 1.36...
I used my S/N in order to download the right version.
After I installed the new ROM... I discover that only GERMAN was aviable no more french or italian version !
I asked help to HTC... no answer !
I took the decision to flash the French orginal ROM... It was not simple but actually I am very happy and the mail works perfectly.

AFAIK you have to flash a new ROM for this.

No, normally, with the original multilingual version 1.07.xxx you have only to hard reset the phone. At startup, it will ask for the language. But this version has a bug with email, if you don't use it ok, elsewhere you will have to install the new 1.36 ROM.
If you download the new version from HTC with your serial #, you will receive a german version only. After that you have to contact the HTC support, they will provide an add on for multilanguage, and all works ok.
Another option is to install the original french version 1.36.xxx as explained somewhere in this forum.

The hard reset did not regulate the probleme.
I'll try to replace my ROM by the last ROM french but i want be sure. Is Tom Photon V1.2 Buid 24622 the good version to flash my ROM
Ok, you probably have an original German version. If you had a multingual version is writen on the case with a red label (FRANCAIS / ITALIANO / DEUTSCH). It seems this version is only provided in Switzerland. If you realy own an original mutiligual version the hard reset reinstall all the soft, operators and ask for language at the first startup only.
Remark : For hard reset, after turing off the phone (power for a while) you have to push Volume + and Volume - buttons in the same time at statup (power).
You have two options
1) Official with maintaining the warranty
- Download and install officilal ROM from HTC with serial #. You will receive a German version 1.36.xxx. Don't panic it is all under control
- Ask to HTC suport the addon for multiligual, or download it here :
