Will WM6 actually install at all on CDMA? - MDA III, XDA III, PDA2k, 9090 ROM Development

I don't care if I lose radio/CDMA functionality of my blueangel, because WM6 is ULTIMATE.

If someone could confirm that the othr drivers would work, then you could try.
Do u have 3 Harriers, or is that the name of the ROM your using?
hardingt0110

I wouldn't recommend anyone to do so because he could possibly destroy the device's radio in that case.

i dont see how it could destroy the radio, sure it will fail to work but as long as you dont try and flash a gsm radio (idiot alert ) then i think the CDMA part will just fail to function until you re-flash a cdma ROM. however i could be wrong and it could f*ck up your phone entirely

amasing that ms can add glossybars and extre features and get people to be willing to remove the phone part of their pdaPhone to get it

I'ts just I have a passion for hacking. And yes I have 3 harriers!! Lucky me!
I will try it. Someday I hope to make/help make CDMA functionality in my own custom WM6 ROM.

And I also have the WinCE, Radio, and Ext. ROM backed up of my original. THis may help if anything goes wrong (unless I cook my phone)

I have one too...
if you have luck with it please let me know which one worked. I tried to install wm5 once, without radio, and it booted up to the well know tricolor screen and it stopped after, so I loaded 2003se back it is working since. I only need this phone to use it as pda/gps, I cannot use phone functionality in Europe.

Someone HELP Protocol None Radio None

Hi all:
I recently started having problems with my Jasjam and yesterday after flashing it with Hermes MRH4.5.1 it stopped working altogether. When i look at device information it gives me Protocol none and Radio None. I am also unable to charge and/or connect it to the PC with USB cable.
Before the flashing it used to lose the signal. It also used to lose my email settings.
Can anyone please help. I would really appreciate it.
Regards,
Try to reflash back to a stock rom using sd card method. Don't tell me you dont have hard spl installed cos thats just nutty...
If not go to the upgrades section and find the thread "Hard SPL... or how not to brick your phone", find page 116 and use the sd method to HARD SPL YOUR PHONE....
Use pretty much the same method to upgrade to stock rom then if that works, flash whatever you want...
This may or may not work as there are a growing number of people out there who loose their radio and CANT RECOVER.
Hope you will be lucky... Cheers...
I have a hard SPL. I tried to do what you said with the original JASJAM image but got stuck in the third step (GSM). The mobile just hung there and didn't continue....any help?
Thanx
Sorry, it sounds like you may have a true brick, you should be able to flash a cooked rom on though to use as a PDA. Try a search on the forum for "no GSM" and see what others are suggesting as there is probably nothng more you can do to your radio to destroy it. Bad luck .
As I said though DO try a non radio os as you can still get all your information off and use it as a PDA. Get some use out of it.
Cheers....

Newbish Questions

Please forgive these basic questions. I myself am a wing owner, but a coworker is in constant awe of the power of xda and has enlisted my help in maximizing his Hermes. Just a couple of questions:
Meaning to come off as a complete newb or a jacka** is not what I desire, but at the same time I haven't hours to invest towards knowing every detail about a phone I myself do not own. I'm fully well aware of how to search and obviously if I can type I can read, so informing to do either of these tasks will be meaningless to me.
My questions:
1) With the wing, if you "brick" your phone during a ROM flash, you can re-flash an RUU and you'll be just fine. Does this work the same way with the Hermes?
2) How difficult is the HardSPL process with the Hermes and is there anything to watch out for?
3) Are there special steps needed to take in order to upgrade him from wm5 to wm6/6.1 or a ROM based upon either version?
4) Is there a way to overclock the phone, and does it make a noticable difference? I already put batterystatus on it and it isn't giving me the overclocking options it does with my wing. I'm guessing it's because it's a different type of processor or because it's reading the base speed of the CPU @ 400mhz, which is higher than any of the overclocked speeds it offers me on my wing.
5) Is there anything else important to know about his phone? The last thing I want for the guy is to take his phone with promises if grandeur, and hand him back a paperweight without answers.
1) Depends on what brick
if you have hardspl'd and it just failed flashing the OS then you should be able to recover.. providing that you can get into bootloader mode.
if you are flashing the radio and it fails then you own a paperweight..
2) Hardspl on the hermes is simple - just read the thread and its easy
So for the Hermes, you flash the OS seperate from the Radio? Or are you talking about if you're reflashing only the radio?
And if you're not HardSPL and you brick during the OS flash you can't just go into bootloader and flash the RUU to recover the phone?
Well, as an 8525 owner, I'd have to say that flashing ROMs to a Hermes is rather painless and straight forward. I started with the official ROM for WM6 since it covered so many bases. However, I eventually used HardSPL(quite a painless experience) and loaded a ROM to it that didn't take up that much storage.
One word of warning. Make sure that the data connector's in good condition before attempting to flash. If it's not, use the microSD method. This procaution will save you many headaches.
I don't recommend overclocking. 1, it's dangerous. 2, there's few methods out there and many of them are said not to work. 3, by using a ROM with a large page pool you can increase the phone's speed.
Special? Well, that depends on the model.
I'm familiar with the pros and cons of overclocking as I myself have my wing overclocked from 201mhz to 273 and run it that way 24/7/365. Just curious as to how one does it on the hermes since BatteryStatus was a no-go.
Is there a particular wm6.1 rom that anyone would like to recommend? I know itje and ttran do exceptional work for the wings/heralds, but who're the cooks to look out for in the Hermes world?
And what exactly is the SD flash method for Hermes? On mine now that I'm hardspl'ed I can put any .nbh on my sd, rename it to HERAIMG.nbh, put it into bootloader and it'll flash for me.
I've not really delved into 6.1 due to early compatibility issues. I did try one, but I liked Schap's ROM better.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=392777
Basicly the same, but you have to name it HERMIMG.nbh. If you don't know how to get to bootloader mode, just push the side OK button, the power button, and the reset all at once. I used SSPL to put HardSPL onto my phone using the microSD method, so even if the data port's busted, all should be fine.
Basically any cooked rom doesn't have a radio rom cooked in. This allows YOU to decide what radio is best for you. My advice is if it works fine, leave it alone... When kingsizeriz says its a total brick he means that it won't work as a phone ever again... However, as a PDA, no worries, just flash a cooked rom with no radio...
Hard SPL is a MUST.... Also see if you can find out if you friends phone is "locked" to a network, you'll have to unlock first using this : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=293665
Then Hard SPL, Here : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=296722
To use the sd card method for Hard SPL, check out page 116.
Then flash with rom of choice... WM 6.1 is MUCH more stable now, & REALLY quick... Would suggest the PDAViet roms as I seem to find them pretty stable though the later versions of other roms seem ok too (19202 & up).
To flash with sd card - MAKE SURE YOU HAVE HARD SPL INSTALLED....
copy .nbh file to root directory of card and rename to "hermimg.nbh". Put in hermes and go into bootloader. Follow the prompts...
Hope this helps...Cheers....
Can you tell me either how many posts per page you use or what post number to start looking for? I use the max number of posts per page so the number might be different.
And I know he bought the phone from and uses it on AT&T, so I'd imagine it's locked to that.
Also, nobody's mentioned if there's any special steps needed to take to upgrade his phone from wm5 to 6(.1). Are there any?
Post #1160, Has all links for apps needed too...
If you want to sim/cid unlock you can run the unlocker v3to use Any sim card .
If you want to do this then do it 1st. It will upgrade your SPL to 1.10.
THEN Hard SPL... THIS IS A MUST. It wont stop you from bricking your device BUT it will improve your chances of recovering from most accidents....
Get you friend to find any HERMES rom they like (I like PDAViet 19588 at the moment as is VERY speedy) & download. I would recommend using the sd card method as it is safer from silly buggers "accidently" resetting pc or pulling out usb cable and power brown/black outs. All you need is for them to leave the hermes alone for 10 minutes or so while it flashes. Make sure you have better than 50% battery power though as flashing is battery draining... Even via usb it stops charging to flash...
Previous post as links for programs needed. Cheers....

Reflashing HTC 8525 but how??? Bricked Hermes

Okay, well for some reason a month ago my 8525 unlocked was not recognizing the sim card anymore.... sometimes it would work and sometimes it wouldn't... when I boot up it says no GSM.. after searching around the net I guess what the phone is doing is called "bricked" so what I tried to do is use an utility to unlock the phone again.... that didn't work because it would get stuck at a certain percentage.. my next step was to try to reload the OS with the rom from HTC to try to see if I can manage it work....but it gets stuck at 11% with error 242..... now when I turn on the phone its just with the 4colors ... .also I don't know if at this point the battery charges... anyhow im stuck and I don't really know what to do.... is anybody familiar with reflashing this phone???? Would you be able to provide the necessary link and steps to get this phone up and running? :O
Sounds like your radio rom has gone fizzle.... No rom will fix this.... If its still under warranty you could see if there is a HTC official rom cooked without the radio rom ppart, ask someone to cook one or cook it yourself, eload that and then do a warranty claim. The radio rom is the most sensitive part of the device and the best anyone can say is to either flash a tock rom (which you've already tried) or flash a radio only rom. Would be good to know what radio you were using and try that. You should find the radio roms on the wiki.
Good luck...

Touch HD is ruined, please help NOW! IMPORTANT!

My phone works perfectly except I can't answer calls, when I press answer/ignore it freezes until it goes to voicemail and then comes back. I've flashed multiple roms and had the problem with all of them. I'm not using any special themes or anything, and the only software I ever install are HD Tweak and Finger Keyboard 2.1 and my radio 1.14.25.24. Here's a list of what I've done since I had the phone:
1. Bought phone. Flashed HSPL. Flashed Laurentius L26, no problems. Was being lazy so I didn't hard reset after flashing.
2. Flashed Dutty R14. Didn't hard reset after flashing. No problems for awhile and then the problem of not being able to answer calls appeared.
3. Flashed EnergyRom wm6.5 rom. Hard reset twice after. Still having problem where I can't answer calls.
4. Flashed Dutty 3.9XT wm6.1 rom. Hard reset twice after. Still having problem where I can't answer calls.
If anyone can help me figure out why my phone is doing this I'd really appreciate it, I'll even pay you some money on PayPal if you like because I really want to fix it. Here are some ideas I had as to why it's not working:
- Problem with rom flash. No, because I tried it with 3 different roms so far and had the same problem.
- Touch HD isn't fast enough to run wm6.5 and be stable. No, because I tried it with a wm6.1 rom too and had the same problem.
- Someone suggested it might be a problem with the battery. No, because I ordered new replacement batteries and tried them and had the same problem.
- Some of the settings in HD Tweak are incompatible with something in the roms I'm using. Maybe, is this possible? I don't really change much, just the softkeys and the highlight color and things like that.
- Screwed up something in the SPL or something because I didn't hard reset after flashing the first 2 roms. Maybe, is this possible?
- Dropped my phone and somehow managed to break nothing but the mechanism involved in answering calls. Maybe, is this possible?
Today I'm going to reflash HSPL, flash the stock HTC rom, hard reset twice, and see if I still have the problem. I don't know what else to do or what other possibilities there are. If anyone can shed some light on this issue, that would be great, because I really don't want to have to buy a new phone. Thanks
Did you try another SIM?

Hi rpimps,
I think that would be a good idea, flash back to stock, check for any differences, if everything works ok, then try flashing to a custom ROM again.
It might be an idea to try out a different radio version, for example, try 1.17 as this could improve certain built in feaures of your phone, especially since radio versions are known to work only in specific regions, it may work out better for you overall
Also, if not already cooked into the custom ROM of your choice, you should also install the RIL version that matches your radio version - 1.17 Radio supports RIL version 1.14 (1.14.25.24), which you can download the RIL via this link, at the bottom of post #1 - read this section as it also explains how to install the RIL.
I recently remember another member mention that their phone would sometimes hang when/after receiving a call, this was solved by installing the associated RIL - a layer in an operating system which provides an interface to the hardware's radio and modem.
Best regards.
Just to see if call mechansm works;
- try to record something (to check mic)
- try front speaker (i dont know how to do this)
- check if vibration works. (vibrate on connect may be on)
I guess your gsm radio works well since you can receive calls. Try to use windows original phone canvas instead of touchflo 3d. Dont know what to check more Its strange.

I did that just now and it had the same problem (on the HD) no matter what sim I put in it.

Here's what I did today:
1. Reflashed HSPL. Hard reset.
2. Couldn't find a working stock rom so I just reflashed Dutty 3.9XT. Hard reset.
3. Installed 1.17 radio and rilphone 1.14 like you recommended.
4. Didn't install anything else. Tested phone right after install and it's still having the problem.

I can call other people and it works fine. And actually about 10% of the time I CAN answer calls, and when it works it works perfectly. But 90% of the time it won't let me answer.
I might just have to put this phone on ebay and go back to my Diamond

that's a shame dude, not sure what else to suggest... it sounds like a hardware related issue as you have repeatedly tried flashing different firmware one on the phone... i suppose it's not under warranty?

It's only a few months old so it might be, but doesn't flashing spl/roms void the warranty?

Unfortunately, it breaks the warranty aggreement. So e-bay is a good idea, I guess.
P.S: I heard from someone that you can go back to stock rom then you can still use your guarantee. But I'm not sure if they can see that you reflashed it or not.

From what I have read, if you flash back to the exact stock ROM which was installed on your phone when you had received it, then this will not affect your warranty - if you decide to return your phone (assuming it is still under warranty) just make sure you downgrade to Stock ROM and Radio version, with no trace of HSPL or USPL also, or else you will have to pay them money if they (HTC) find out
EDIT: Please follow these steps to restore back to your stock ROM version:
1. First, be sure to restore your stock OS, and then the stock radio. The Stock SPL is always to be done last!
2. Download your choice of a stock spl package from the link shown below. (currently 1.13, 1.14, 1.15, 1.54)
3. Also download the original hardspl from the link shown below.
4. Run the hardspl exe but do not click anything in RUU yet. Just let the hardspl EXE extract the files for flashing.
5. The SPL you want to revert to is a .NBH file, put the stock SPL NBH in the extracted hardspl package, overwriting the original NBH file in it!
6. Continue with the RUU (or if needed, run SSPL-Manual.exe manually, then run RUU when it goes to tricolour 1.07.OliNex screen), it goes to 100%, reboots, done.
7. To verify, enter bootloader mode, see version number on tricolour screen, should now just say 1.14.0000 or any other version ending in .0000, but not ending in OliNex!
that's it.
Please refer to the following link for more information and the necessary files you will require to re-flash back to Stock (see and read the last section of post #1):
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=431217
Regards.
p.s. also remember to flash back to the original Radio version of the phone, if required.
There are several stock ROMs linked in the Blackstone Wiki, flash back to one of those and see if your problem is still there. If it is, send it back for a Warranty repair - as long as there is a stock SPL and ROM image on your phone, you Warranty will be intact.
what i dont see is mention of ho u are answeing the calls.
there or at least three ways
1. the on screen prompt. i assuming this is the one that freezes
2. the answe key at the bottom left of the phone
3. the htc headphones im assuming you have
have u tried using all three of these methods to answer calls??

New ROM for T-Mobile (UK) help needed

Hello.
This is my first post, so please be kind to me!
I've spent the past few weeks trying to get my head around what to do in order to flash my HD2 which is on the t_mobile network
The original rom 1.43 i think is driving me crazy and I now dont care if I change the rom and it invalidates the warenty!
In order to HSPL I need to SPL first, but will my device allow this?
I've read through so many threads that I am completely confused and dont know which way to turn, never mind which thread to re-read.
Can someone point me to the sspl, HSPL to upgrade to 1.66
Thanks
Glyn
oh its the 512 version
you are over confusing yourself.
download hspl 2
instal it - choose whichever hspl you like (may as well go for 2.08.hspl)
flash whatever rom you like from usb. (don't forget to flash a compatible radio either before or straight after.)
Thanks for your reply......
so downloan the HSPL from here?
'forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=609477'
and as I run the program I'll get the option of which version to install?
What should I look for to make sure that the radio is compatible with the rom?
Thanks again and sorry for my ignorance
Glyn
best thing you can do is to read a lot. No need to do enerything in one mad dash.
get HSPL2 from HERE - end of the first post (but read the post, dont just skip to download, )
run it as administrator (right click, run as administrator)
for best results use a usb port on the back of your PC (i.e one directly on teh motherboard, not an external usb slot) it will ask what version you want to install. just go for 2.08.hspl (not 2.08.0000) and let it do its thing. the authors say you should match the version to the rom (so 1.43.hspl for roms that are 1.43 or 1.48, 1.66.HSPL for 1.6 based roms, etc, but it isn't critical, most will run on any HSPL, so dont go changing every time you flash a new rom, no need. If it doesnt work then change it.)
As for radio tips, a radio with .51. in the number, (eg 2.09.51.03) will NOT work with any rom that has the 576meg ram, enabled.
If you flash a rom and all you get when you restart is a grey screen, chances are the radio doesnt match. Boot to bootloader and flash the radio.
But most of all, read stuff.
What about shipped rom's that are .exe files? Do they include radios with it? Also, is there a post you can point me to that has a list of compatible radios with different rom's?
that's where reading comes in. the whole process has so many variants that there is no simple "a b c" that covers everything.
yes the exe includes radio (and also spl if you use sd card to flash -stay away from sd card, use usb and if anything goes wrong you just boot to bootloader and re flash)
the chefs give you all the infoyou need in the first couple of posts. the sticky threads in the rom development section will tell you how to do everything, and any problem you encounter has beenwritten about already. so read, search and read.
I suggest you flash Stock WWE 1.66 ROM first so you can have a feel of how much improvement
has been done from 1.43
you can download it in HTC website.
Thanks for your help so far..
I would like to go for the 1.66 official ROM first, so I'll find that on here first and find the exe file so I dont have to mess about with compatible radio's.
Just before I HSPL it, I would like a copy of the original 1.43 T-Mobile ROM, so better get searching.
Thanks again
Glyn
the original 1.43 T-Mobile ROM is on HTCs website so get it from there as a backup
THANKYOU!!
Thankyou so much for your help and guidance.
Last night I decided to just do it - the phone was so poor I couldn't take it anymore.
3 hours from start of backing up, to installing HSPL2, to flashing with 1.66, anf then restoring data
I cant believe the transformation - I am so pleased I didnt throw it at a wall!!!
So a massive thanks to the members of this community
im in the same boat... got a stock uk hd2 on tmobile and wasn't to flash a new rom but the information is overwhelming and im scared I will flash a wrong rom and kill my phone :0)

theres nothing to it. the 'normal' hd2 which you do have, is about the safest phone to flash in the world today, with HSPL2. The 'radios killing phones' problem that started last week is specific to the t mobile US model only, , the one with 1 gig rom.
If you install HSPL on your phone, and then only flash over USB, the very worst that will happen (from a software point of view) is that the phone stops at a grey screen, and/or only boots into bootloader, so you boot into bootloader, you flash something else, and it's fixed.
The T Mo UK stock rom is available to download as backup, (as is o2 and voda for anyone looking) in the 'LEO official roms' thread in rom development, first post, first link, first folder (1.43)
At any time, you can flash that rom from sd card (look it up if you need to) and restore everything, spl, radio and rom, , to factory settings.
In all honesty, so long as you are careful, methodical, don't pull out USB cables halfway through, laptop battery dies, etc , then you are more likely to get bricked from some freak incident, like , umm, battery dieing, heh.
Fear not! be smart, be careful, try to understand what you are doing and why at each step, read up on what an spl is, and the job is , as they say, sorted.

is this so and is this referring to the sd card in the HTC or my own sd card used to download the 1.66 onto?
