hey people tell me what could be the problem?? My battery drains all in a day or sometimes i have to recharge it twice in a day, but without any use it drains in two days?? what do you think is the problem?? Is the Battery Weak???
Second if i wont to buy a new battery how many mAh should it be?? My current is 1250mAh. Would a 1800mAh be of the same size as this one? will it work and fit fine in the case??
Please do reply. Thanks in Advance.
First, some more information is needed:
Are you overclocking? This is the single most likely candidate for faster battery consumption.
Are you running anything that requires a lot of processor power? Animations like the TouchFlo Cube and PointUI are hard on batteries.
How old is the phone, and subsequently the battery?
Are you leaving a lot of programs active but minimized? This can also hit the processor harder, which results again in faster battery drain.
With regards to battery replacements, I will let someone with experience in that area give you suggestions (and I will eavesdrop, because I have an old phone and am concerned about replacement myself...).

1. Im not oveclocking
2. Im running Touch Commander Suite
3. My Phone is 2 years old.
4. I leave no program minimized except one tht runs in background.
Now what can you advice?
The 1250mAh is the standard size battery for the Wizard. Anything bigger than 1250mAh will be thicker and need a bigger battery cover. I replaced mine with a new 1250mAh after 18 months of use because I didn't want to make my phone any thicker.

How much time does your new 1250mAh battery takes to discharge:
1.When nothing spcl is done except reading SMS or Calling?
2.When loads of work is done like listening songs, watching videos, using Wifi/GPRS?

How about WiFi? Do you leave it on? How about GPRS? Both radios are power-hungry, and should be shut off while not in use. Sure, it means a little wait on starting programs that require a connection, but it also means having enough battery to finish what you're doing. Which, if you've ever been lost in a strange town without a Thomas Guide, you'll agree is damned important.
Short of that, and the obvious (and relatively cheap) alternative of buying another battery, I have to point the finger at Touch Commander Suite.
Run Task Manager 3.1 (Dotfred) on your device. If TCS is using less than 5MB while running, I'll eat my hat (you'll just have to trust that I've eaten it, though... ). More crap in RAM means less battery life. It's not as dramatic a drain as the WiFi radio (the worst culprit of all), but it's probably in the top 5.
1.I dont leave anything on when im not using it.
so What would you say? should i remove Touch COmmander and install SPB Mobile Shell or anyother SPB software? will they be less battery consuming?
...
hasseb try a diferent rom...it may be the software that is draining your battery....anyway a battery shows signs of use after 2 years and a half....so if another rom doesn't do the trick...i think it's time to buy a new 1250mAh battery...other batteries can damage your phone because they have a larger energy output....and congratulations...you are a senior member now
Thanks for the info and thanks for congratulating me on becoming Senioe member. I guess the real problem was Touch Commander Suite, i uninstalled it but still timing is less so i have to buy a new battery.
i use xda atom. recently i upgraded to pdaviet wm 6.1 rom version 20755. this is excellent, superb. my ppc is much speedy, but it seems that it consumes battery a bit more. i need a good rom which use less battery power but speedy. can anyone help. pls.
According to me, ROM plays a very small part in utilizing your phone battery. The major reason is your usage, Don't let s/w lying around in memory. Terminate all when you finish using.
anything more to get going for this thread? it seems that rom also plays a little part on the battery save of the device mainly atom so any other comments on which rom is battery wise for the atom/atom pure? it would be good to have people who have observations with this to make comments

do a search, it's been posted for so long how to conserve precious batt life on the atom.
Best battery life on atom life
Hi all
No doubt this ROM is greatest of all with no issues till date. Stable, smooth, faster and fully loaded with lots of essential programs.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=460145
The battery life is great after we tweak following setting.
Settings > System > Advanced settings > Power Management > SD and MMC options both enabled.
This setting is giving me minimum 3 days standby time and lasts two days with many phone calls around 50 min to 1 hour talktime.
Amazingly stable and proven.
but i thought he is using Atom not Atom Life?
Base on experience ...
I have use a couple of ROMs here (will not mention it ... respect to the makers) ... but 1 ROM had given my Atom's battery life to have 13-15 hours of battery life (normal usage) and 5-8 hours (wifi usage ... internet, webtv, etc.) . By the way im using a 1400mAh bat.
And it is an honor to use ...
PDAVIET ROM WM6.1 CE OS 5.2.20765 Build 20765.1.4.4 PV (with PowerManagementPatch.CAB)
Here is the link to the thread here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=453140
This is just based on my phone experience ... Your phone may react to the ROM differently. But nevertheless ... this is a really nice ROM worth the try
what roms / radios will give me the best battery life. currently running ahens latest rom with radio 2.08.50.05. battery life is good, have used nrgs roms in the past and they seem to drain my batt within a day of hardly any use.
2.09 radio seems best, as does 1.72 base and 218*** WM builds. look for roms like those.
Laurentius's ultimate power has great battery life. But most are ok for HD2. There are very few stinkers, and most battery life issues are due to 16GB cards - avoid roms with the documents/e-reader tabs to be sure of better battery life.
does a 16gb effect it that much because i am using one of those!
thanks for the tip!

I would think that it might be an indexing service that are doing this powerdrain, if this is the case - Maybe killing indexing service on SD card would improve battery performance ?

Reading and writing data on the mem card will use energy... if it's idle though i don't think it will.
shouldn't the indexing be done on only the first boot if it is done anyway?
There are quite a few people complaining about battery dain caused by the memory cards.
The most simple test is proven to start the phone without a memory card. is it better then reformat the card in the phone. copy the files on it and try again. If that not works search for corrupt files on the card. especially music.
the indexing serviceisgion wild on some phones. shutting it down solves the problem.
use the search of the forum on these things and you will find quite a few threads about this subject
Mem cards are all power hungery especially if you have your apps installed to them. Internal memory is more efficient, faster and uses less power.

+1 ... this is the only difference for me till now
On Radio 2.09 using Ahenf series ROM took off charge this morning at 7:15 now 13:10 and its on 73% which is a big improvement over other ROMS I have tried Also the icon set on this ROM, Stability and performance is great. Only downside Marketplace doesn't work. Which I don't use anyway
Using the setup in my sig
charge overnight, took out from charger at 6:15, did moderate to high web-browsing and turned on wifi router for bout 15 mins. Battery now at 22:10 61%

good shout i am really enjoying Ahens ROMS what is the radio you are using the long version 2.09.51.05 or whatever it is?
I've searched the thread but few people seem to comment on battery for Artemis whereas it always gets praised on Ultimate Power. Anyone using it?

Used this before Ahens ROM and in my experiance battery drained quite quickly. Lasting longer and longer now after two charges.
Using ultimate power 4 and can get 3 days from rom with moderate calls

Using 2.09.51.03_2 still running over 25 hours now used for calls about 1 hour, 70ish texts, 20 mins of GT2 on FPSece over 1 hour music playback and about 45 mins of internet on 30% still
just remember that roms like energy's will run down more quickly because the backlight is set so high.
Once you reduce it to 40%/60% battery/external things DO even out. But even then 576MB rom will use more juice esp if you load the memory up.
The more you use the device, the less you will notice differences - because use is use no matter how good a rom is. It's in standby where the tweaks shine.
I personally found Artemis < Dutty's HG < Energy < Ultimate Power.
BUTBUTBUT - we're talking about a few extra percent overnight, or a little during the day. For instance from 2days of moderate use to 2days with a bit more left for the third, but not completely.

Hey people,hows it going?
I have decided to create this thread to help people who arent very happy with their battery life pre/after the 2.1 update.
Aighty guys lets see : The improvements in 2.1 are VERY awesome if you combine it with things to make it total ownage.
Battery Life : Mine lasts 12h with very heavy usage, without usage it can last more than 48h...
Updated since sunday night so i got more than enough experience with it.
If you got bad battery life you can do followings :
1)Root + SetCPU : Lower the "Minimum" quantity so the CPU would idle very lowly and so you get more battery life ,i reccomend getting 245 there (This phase can be dangerous,if you dont know what you're doing ,skip this one)
2)Use Task Manager Pro : Shut down apps that eat the RAM, those who say "unused ram is wasted" , imo thats false as if you got more ram free : More battery life, better phone usage, less lags, and more space in case updates of twitter/fb etc come on ,i usually got around 105mb free always left (Excluded updates for social's & news & weather, live wall, android apps and stuff that i really need)
3)Still not fixed? Get a Battery-life-saver launcher and replace the Home one,as SE didnt work 2.1's home to good so its laggy and battery-eater.
4)Widgets?Have you got loads of news/updates widgets or apps? Try to lower the "Update rate", facebook updates as default each 5 mins, set it to around 2h or so,you dont need less than that.
5)Still pittyful? Check how much you use it, if i use my phone alot i get maybe less than 12h of battery life, but if you use it just the necesary trust me,you can get up to 3 days straight.
Battery life also depends on how much you use it.
5.1)Games specially can use loads of battery,so if you get a use of about 25% in 1 hour, thats very good battery life,so its normal.
5.2)Temperatures in battery can also go upper as you use it ,cause apps and your hand behind the phone cause heat,so you're alright if temp go up to 45ºC,which would be the safe limits. I would panic if it went up to 50ºC.
6)If you have just updated to 2.1 leave it a few days,it is quite bad at first as the system needs to update all its settings ,all its new stuff, just like when you install a new OS on a computer,it needs to "Start windows for the first time".
7)If its still very bad, then your battery might be damaged, get a new one and remember that the first 2-3 charges to take at least 8h,to make sure its lifespan is gonna be high.
In conclusion : Dont just say "My battery life sucks now", Battery depends on how much you use the phone,on how much your apps/timescape/mediascape/Social feeds/News feeds use your phone as much as gps/wifi/bluetooth of it.
Check everything you can,do everything i said and then see if ur battery is damaged or not, cause the 2.1 system didnt do worse,it actually did better than 1.6 after its perfectly settled.
Hope this helps out, take care ^

very good writeup, which launcher do you recommend?
in regards to this i believe you but it's just not happening to me
please suggest something.
my battery is awesome on standby....but as soon as i turn screen on and play for eg angry birds for 1hr it drops approx 25%. is that how it should be?
no wifi bluetooth gps etc. live wallpaper is there but i also try w/o live wallpaper. i use task killer and kill off unnecessary things
the only thing i haven't done is root and reduce cpu speed because the phone should work quite well w/o me having to do that.
My temp goes up to 43 at times. is that normal?
what am i doing wrong?

So far , LauncherPro did a very good job for me,there are loads of stuff you can tweak there like even from 3 to 7 homescreens, as you wish, the less the more battery so,depends on which you wish, you can select.
Also Helix Launcher is very famous for beeing able to save battery alot, tho it hasnt got so many options like LauncherPro.
If its very good battery life your searching : Helix Launcher
If you're looking for a good balanced launcher : LauncherPro
Goodluck.

25% in a hour after playing? Yes that is normal as games stress the CPU and screen brightness to max, so yes after gaming the battery does suffer a bit.
Nah if you dont want dont reduce cpu min speed.
Imo ,charge the phone completely , then right after charging , play Angry birds for 1h again and check battery. Sometimes the battery discharges faster than other times (Depends on the charge of it, if its @ 95% it will go down alot faster, unlike if its at 30%,it will go down slower. Its just a battery theory that is accurate most of the time)
So check from what % you started playing to what % you've stopped playing.
Tell me the results then.
And then i repeat, make sure you reduce facebook/twitter/email "update rate".
(More time(once in 2h not in each 5 mins) = Better cause it will access the internet less so more battery)

I used to support it, till I opened my mind to those theories, so now I argued. With many reading and my own experiment, I would still argue that droid are doing best it could.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=777034
With my summary, without ATK could result in even better battery life.

Some technical statement about android memory.
HOWEVER,
To correct your statement, it's TRUE that leaving more processes behind could result in significant drain of battery, but this is due to CPU usage, not RAM.
So yes, Leaving some process which draining CPU power behind could give much worse battery life.
So IMO, it more depends on your background process, but I would say that in most situation, just leave the droid do its job
7)If its still very bad, then your battery might be damaged, get a new one and remember that the first 2-3 charges to take at least 8h,to make sure its lifespan is gonna be high.

You don't need that any longer. But it's true that the lifespan could be 'higher' after a few usage, but this is due to 'calibration', not the performance of the battery itself.
Imagine
real battery is 10%, android report 3%
real battery is 90%, android report 100%
so you are using only 10% to 90%, that considered 20% lose.
Li-po batteries ain't meant to be drain to the last, if you do thy won't last and you soon be needing to replace your battery, I would think that it is programmed to monitor the usage to not do that but the battery % that you see is not actually whats left on the battery itself.
I was reading a pdf ebook and the battery dropped around 35% in 2 hours :S
I'm running the battery test in the service menu at the moment to see if my battery is faulty.
I don't use a manager - i don't use setCpu and I can easily get 24 hours + since 2.1
I'm just saying .
I stream music from di.fm using wifi 8h/day.
My phone lasts about 4h so, i have to charge it 3 times/day
Now, i want to see tips how to improve this

good idea never knew battery test existed in the service menu =]
shall try it tonight
just have a look on the attached photo , i took the photo when the indicator was 15% , still i can ran the phone for another 2 or 3 hours .
I don't know for sure, but it seems to me that the display chews through more battery than before.
Could be that I'm playing games too much but I don't think so. I seem to get the same battery life on idle, but as soon as I do anything (esp. games or talking) the battery just seems to nosedive. Never noticed this before (I used to get two-three days depending on the usage now I'm down to a day or two).
I'm gonna try and do some tests over the next while (starting with flashing back to 1.6 and retesting that properly).
tipically, display (screen) accounts for 2/3s of the total battery usage
check the battery usage app (settings -> battery), you'll be amazed
then make a simple test:
reduce brightness by half and your battery will last A LOT longer
Personaly, I prefer to carry my charger than dimming the screen
.

Back,soz my internet crashed -_-
And true, the Screen uses 2/3 or even more, everytime i check it sucks around 75% or so if you use it alot.
Also @Cebees Yes thats true, thats why i sugested a task manager Cutting processes cleans ram memory but also cleans cpu usage.
True you can let the droid do its things but most of the time its not Droid who is eating the battery to death, its 3rd party apps which remain On even after usage (Like when you select a live wall and then change it,the other remains on and some walls arent very good optimized so ...if 1 Live-wall eats a bit of battery, imagine 3 or 4 ?)
Also : Gaming / GPS navigation And Wifi Navigating are the main and most power hungry tasks for a phone to do,so its normal that if you're doing any of those, the battery lasts like nothing.
One Tip : Always take ur charger with you Also take the MicroUSB->USB cable off your charger and use it while your in your car (Buy a Cigarette->USB adaptor, costs less than 10 quid) and then you can charge it while you're in your/your dad's car, that way you'll maintain the battery a bit more alive.
Also if you really think your battery just isnt up for your needs, there is a 3600mAh (Think its Called Mugen 3600 or smth)battery out there for the X10,it is kinda bulky but it doubles and some times even more the life of the normal 1500mAh Stock battery.
Btw,if you want to buy a new battery and a 3600mAh one is too expensive, try to get a 2000+ one...as there was tested that up to 1800mAh arent exactly Shiny, just a very slight (Minutes)improvement over the stock 1500mAh one.
As you can see, there's loads of things that can cause a battery life to be poor
So keep on trying ^^ Im sure it will all go great.
I charged mine yesterday at morning, and i still got 67% Today,so i believe i can manage a total of 3 days straight ...and i did eventually use my phone to listen to music, put some live walls and make some calls.
Also trust me...the Launcher does make a diference, specially if you get the Helix one...i used it and my battery used to manage up to almost 5 days straight (With little use).
Oh and @Cebees : I know that the 8hour thing isnt exactly necesary today , but eventhought they say its not ,i believe i've been told by someone who knows about this that its good for the battery to be totally maxed in the first charges and then left to total emptyness(if possible until phone shuts down or is about to) that way it does calibrate (As you said before) and it does also maximise its life (Technically,i could be wrong , but my always done that with my wife's and daughter's phone and they always worked like a charm and trust me ,my daughter cant get her hands off her phone -_-)

My battery life got worse on 2.1.
On 1.6 I would unplug my phone at 6:20 am and listen to music for an hour then I would mess with my phone a little bit between 7:20 and 2:15. Then after that I would listen to music for another hour while surfing facebook. By time I get home at 3:20 I'm down to 60 percent. But if I do that on 2.1 by time I get home I'll be at 30 percent. Also I have juice defender ultimate that shuts off my 3g everytime the screen is off.

I'd prefer this one rather than auto task killer
a bit friendly for droid, except chuck norris one.
Can anyone of you download advance task killer from the android market/Google Play. Download and could you check how many memory do you have? When I bought my note, I had only 40% of memory available on my phone, which means about 800 MB, and I couldn't take advantage the rest of the 2+GB memory because phone has couple hundred apps preinstalled... Now I started clearing and un installing all these unnecessary apps and now I have about 1.6 GB memory available on my phone, and as a result of that I was able to get two days battery every day. Basically I can't finish my battery in one day regardless of the usage, which is really good....

Zip aligning the apps should give you more RAM as well. but yeah, hibernating with greenify and freezing apps really cleans the used RAM footprint up and gives you much improved battery.

Don't worry about it, in Android free memory is wasted memory. This is how the sistem works... and it works well.

That's true to an extent. However when you have apps sitting in the memory using it all up then other apps will be automatically killed and this will cause redraws and extra time loading the app again. This happened on the 2gb version of the G3 which had a lot of launcher redraws because of all the bloatware. It's still best to get rid of bloatware so it doesn't reside in the RAM and cause apps you actually use to get killed.

My freshly restarted note 4 shows 2.1 used out of available 2.7. There is an extreme amount of bloat and note specific apps running in TW that cannot be easily killed if at all.

Antutu widget has the memory cleaner. I use only before games like Galaxy on Fire 2 HD, or if I run a benchmark. But debloated android you should leave alone memory unless you need many ram for specific app. Cleaning memory will consume your battery as CPU work harder reloading everything.
Note 4 debloated has much memory requirments. Android design handles that and it works good debloated. Android RAM is never should be in your mind as it works on PC.

"Cleaning memory will consume your battery as CPU work harder reloading everything" Actually my experience tells me different than what you're saying. When I bought my note 4 my battery was very bad, I could't use it even one day, but now and after I compulutely removed all bul..... apps my phone gives me Two days normal usage or a day of crazy usage.......

That is so good. I am receiving 24 hour but with 1x mobile here in Phillipines that is good. Very much demand user I am being. Note 3 I only have 12 hour.
But I am referring to cleaning memory on debloated the device. On bloated device cleaning memory is helpful
