I used to have a 8125\Wizard and now have a 8525\Hermes. On my 8125 and I guess one of the first ATT\Cingular roms, I was able to download files from Internet Explorer. After I updated my 8525 a few months ago with the official ATT rom, I lost that ability. Now I've upraded to WM6 and still am not able to download files. Thanks
edit: the page will attempt to load (the status bar will say Opening...) but never load.
Edit: Cingular proxy settings! turn it off!
bump for answer
I can download pictures from websites, but not files of other extensions.
No one tries to download files with PIE?
For future reference, it was the proxy settings with the Cingular Media Net connection.

I installed the XDA developers ROM, and everything is ok except the internet connection through GPRS. I wrote he APN that my provider gave me, (Orange-Isral) is "internet.orange.net.il". No other settings. I can connect to the internet and send and receive emails, but I can't browse in internet explorer neither in the ftxpbrowser. Before the upgrade it worked fine. Also before the upgrade, every time I click on an internet link the QTEK eould connect to the ne. Now it doesn't. Any idea what am I doing wrong? Someone had experience similar probems? Thanks.
Connection settings didn't worked for me too after I flashed the original developers ROM. Even worse after the second and the third re-flashing - autoconfig just wouldn't work at all.
I "fixed" the problem simply removing "operators" section from the mkrom shell script and configured everithing manually then. Of course you'll need to build the ROM yourself. But it's also a great fun.
One problem with the current version of mkrom, is that it may put the operator rom after 81bc0000 if you have too many files in 'files1' ( and then autoconfig.exe cannot find it anymore ).
the lost connection settings probably have something to do with 'defaultconfig.xml' ( which I currently ignore ). I have to fix our own welcome.exe to process that too.
expect an update with many problems fixed soon.
If I reflash the original qyek version or the 4.17 UK O2, would zi be able to connect again?
I flashed the devolopers rom but cant browse the internet...My email and msn are fine just no web access i am on vodafone and i configure my own settings.
Have just used adaptrom to flash back to 3-17-03 awaiting any updates on devolepers rom, It was very good to say the least just i need mobile ie.
I will have a play at the weekend.
Same here. I flashed the ROM on a US T-Mobile unit, and can't surf with ie. Thunderhawk works, but ie is crippled. That defaultconfig.xml file needs to be executed. Is ther any way to execute it manually :?
Thanks.
Have you execute autoconfig.xml file??
I have the same problem, I have put my autoconfig.xml file on the ROM but don't update nothing....
have any one try it....to set connection, favorites on Internet Explorer etc...
I have found defaultconfig.xml file on my Qtek 2020 on \Windows
directory but If I change file for example to add favorites to Favorites Explorer this don't appends ..
anyone have the solution for this problem???
please...
I'd like to upgrade my XDA to the latest ROM levels provided by O2. First their website refuses to load in Firefox, and wants me to "upgrade" to IE6 or Netscape 5. Pah. Then the XDA page won't even load in IE6 - what is it with these people?
Finally I got through by reading the HTML source and forcing it to the page http://www.xda-2.co.uk/under_the_bonnet.html - which of course works perfectly OK in my preferred browser.
So I dowloaded the 3 files they provide: upgrade instructions PDF, Radio_Stack_Upgrade_v421.zip, and Radio_Unit_Upgrade_v31703.exe.
Unfortunately the latter file downloads with size 3171KB rather than the advertised 14.9MB, and when I run it, it complains that it's corrupt and I should download again. Of course that makes no difference, even if I download with IE - the file on their server appears to be corrupt.
Of course there's no feedback option on the page.
What's a poor customer supposed to do?
Is there an alternative source for these files?
Yes there is an alternate source for the files, you need to go to lumpis kitchen or yorches kitchen, choose the rom you want and make sure all the additional options are unchecked, download in exe format then carry out the upgrade, reference the radio stack upograde 4.21, if your phone is ok, if you have a good signal and receive and make calls without problem I would forego the radio upgrade, I think it is a problematic radio stack and unless you need it leave it alone.
try www.yorch.net or
http://lumpistefan.dyndns.org/
Thanks - I've cooked a ROM from Yorch's Kitchen - can't get into the other one (connection refused?).
Meantime, the Radio Upgrade file now looks OK on the O2 website.
it may not be the file which is bad
the proxy at your isp cache files as they download
so if a download goes bad on you
it's also cached so if you dl it again you get it from your
isp's cache meaning that you get the same bad file once more
HELLLLPPPP!!! I have been in and out of my TMobile MDA trying to get flash player to work...I've tried downloading the flashplayer 7 cab file...and it won't dowload...just a bunch of symbols pops up on my pda screen. What to do? There has got to be SOMEONE out there that can save the day....
I'm gonna assume you're trying to download the cab from your MDA. I had the same problem. Download the cab to your pc and run the file after syncing your phone.
thnx for replying...it did finally dowload to my MDA via ActiveSync...but when I go to certain sites that require flash player (like vh1.com), then it still says that I need to download flashplayer (even though I have it on my phone)....So, i dunno' whats going on !!
double checked what the site actually says....It says "flash PlugIn required"
Give Opera a try. With it, when you open a cab file on the internet you can choose to save a page, and rename it as something.cab.
Now I've tried to load vh1.com in opera on my Wizard and I also got note on missing Flash plugin. When I clicked to get it, I was taken to a OSX (PowerPC) page
Also, installing Pocket Plus adds a new submenu to PIE..Save As..which can help you override the problem you had downloading .cab files from your Wiz.
yeah...i got directed to the same download site....download mac osX :? .....when you find out a way to get all the good stuff playing on your wiz...can u let us know?
Just upgraded the firmware on my Cingular 8525. I downloaded the latest version from the ftp website.
rom version 2.06.502.3
rom date 02/02/07
radio version 1.34.00.10
protocol version 32.67.7020.10h
What the phone does. The phone still works and I can make out going phone calls, but I am unable to download my mail or bring up web pages. It comes up as web page can not be loaded. I've tried to search for an answer but have not found anything yet.
I am using an old att sim.
Thanks
Scott
Scott,
Have you checked to see if the connection settings are set on the device (settings - connections)? Perhaps the ROM upgrade (is a Cingular one or HTC?) does not contain those settings - in that case you will need to manually enter them. Perhaps this might help: http://forums.mobiledia.com/topic18250.html - not sure if the settings in here are right for your service or contract. A search here and on MoDaCo: http://www.modaco.com/HTC-Hermes-HermesMoDaCocom-f204.html might also provide the settings that you need
Good luck
My connection settings are correct. They were working before I upgrade the firmware. I am using Att settings which is proxy. Unless with the new firmware they changed. I think it might have to do with the bootloader being 1.09 I just trying to figure this out.
Thanks for your help,
Scott
So you are old ATT Blue in USA, correct?
Running the RUU 2.06 with Radio 1.34?
Do another hard reset as some times the first boot is not letting the entire Ext_rom complete, I do not know why but it happens sometimes on the new Cingular ROM.
After that if it doenst work then go to Cingular.com and check your GPRS setting in the "Connection" part of your setting and make sure the settings include the correct user name (wap.cingular.......... and password CINGULAR1..... etc)
I have an unlocked MDA i'm using on at&t, i am having troubles trying to use modem link on it, it has tmobile 2.26 rom on it, but when i try to use modem link i can't change the access point name, it says wap.voicestream.com and gives me no other options, nor does it give me the option to add a new access point. Internet, MMS, SMS all work fine, just unable to use modem link. Also i can't get the computer to recognize it as new hardware even when i activate modem link as voicestream.com. Is there something in the registry that i need to change like i had to in order to remove the grayed out portions on MMS settings? Sorry for the long post, i'm still kinda new to the whole wizard game, but i must say this site is a wealth of knowledge. Thanks for any help you can provide.
Travis.
