GPRS configuration - MDA III, XDA III, PDA2k, 9090 ROM Development

Hi guys.
I've installed the new Helmi WM6 in my SX-66.
I can't config the GPRS settings and my service provider gives no support for the Blue Angel.
Could anyone help me?
Thank you very much.

if they sell any windoows mobile device, then, ask the settings for the device they sell, and manually enter it.

Well, the fact of the matter is that, in WM2003Se, there was a complete GPRS settings screen where you can enter the server name and so, but in WM6, I just can see 2 tabs, the authentication method and a slot selection.
How can I manually enter the settings?
Thanks

Hey folks...
I'm about to purchase an XDA Exec. I've seen most of my questions answered in various places on the net including this one.
The ONLY question I haven't seen addressed directly is the following:
I have a tmobile account which pushes my email to my phone. I understand that I insert my sim into the XDA Exec, but do I have to input any settings to grab my email from tmobile's servers so that it "lands" in my XDA?
Thanks in advance. I didnt see anything specific about this...

Yes you do. O2 sets up Exec to work with O2... so you need to get your settings for t-mobile to make email work.

Those were other comments that I commented out...
Thanks for the 411 and I appreciate the assistance as I am a novice at this.
1) Assuming I fresh and empty XDA and assuming that I start w/ the start button, where exactly do I apply these settings?
2) Are these also the settings for web surfing via gprs?
Thanks
1) Start > Settings > Connections > Connections > Manage existing connections/add connection (in the top part) > select modem Cellular Line (GPRS,3G) > enter APN > Finish
2) yes

This is EXACTLY what I have done.
I then start pocket IE and get the following message:
"The current connection cannot be used for your request. Please end the current connection and try again."
Are you on the phone while you are trying to connect to GPRS? If you are this is why you are getting this message. I have no issues with my JasJar and GPRS. I am using the O2 rom which is much better than the Imate. I suggest hard booting your device, and not using any of the O2 garbage. Unlock the extended rom and just run the bluetooth patch and dialer cab. Then re install any apps you want. Have fun!

[SOLVED] MMS-Settings

Hello together,
I bought my QTEK9100 some weeks ago and everything works fine (after ROM-Update)... instead of MMS.
I use the german ePlus-Settings and GPRS works fine. But I may enter the wrong MMS-Settings, because I cannot send or receive any MMS.
Can anyone help me?
Could you be so kind and share the settings you have entered for GPRS on your Qtek? I haven't been able to get it to work on my MDA II.
Thanks
i also want to know how to set up mms.

Sorry, I'm on travel at the moment. When I'm back, I'll post the GPRS-Settings.
Klingt gut, vielen Dank im voraus.
Sounds great, thanks in advance.
Ok, here are the settings to configure GPRS on Windows Mobile 5 (used settings are for ePlus Germany).
I have a german device, so i have to translate manually. Original names and descriptions may be different:
1. Open start menu, then choose "Settings" -> "Connections"
2. Open "Connections"
3. Go to the Tab "Advanced" and click on "choose networks"
4. On the next screen, you'll see 2 connection settings. Click on the upper "New"-button
5. Enter a name for your new connection (e.g. GPRS)
6. Open the "Modem"-tab
7. In the "Modem"-tab click on "New"
8. On the next screen enter a name for the new connection (e.g. GPRS Internet) and choose "Cellular Line (GPRS)", click on "Next"
9. Enter your accesspoint (e.g. internet.eplus.de), click on "Next"
10. Enter username and password for xour connection (e.g. Username: eplus, Password: eplus)
11. Click on Advanced and check, if "Use server-assigned IP address" is activated in both tabs
12. Click on "Ok" until you are in the screen, described in step 4
13. To use your GPRS-Connection to connect to the internet, you'll have to choose it in the upper connection setting.
14. Open Pocket Internet Explorer and enter any URL (e.g. http://wap.google.com).
15. Your device will now connect to the internet via GPRS and display the requested page.
Thanks a lot for the help, you could have written in German as well. I speak both fluently .
I will give them a try and see how it works for me on BASE. I'll post some feedback as well.
this is an english-speaking forum, so other languages are not really welcome. By the way; i tried to set up mms for mny operator with the same method and it does not work.

Hi,
Well i don't know whether it may be of any help, but i was facing the same problem here in india. Then i tried some thing and it worked for me...
U can see that in my post http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=49334&highlight=
i believe the only thing u'll need to chnage is the DNS from 100.1.201.172 to whatever gateway address ur service provider must have given u for MMS.
Please let me know if it works or if u need any more help.

I'm quite aware of that and I won't disagree with you on that point. If I would have posted in German, I would've posted a translation as well. Anyway, it seems like getting MMS to work on most PPCs is a major task which takes some educated guessing.
Try this
As described above
1. Open start menu, then choose "Settings" -> "Connections"
2. Open "Connections"
3. Go to the Tab "Advanced" and click on "choose networks"
4. On the next screen, you'll see 2 connection settings. Click on the upper "New"-button
5. Enter a name for your new connection (e.g. GPRS)
6. Open the "Modem"-tab
7. In the "Modem"-tab click on "New"
8. On the next screen enter a name for the new connection (MMS) and choose "Cellular Line (GPRS)", click on "Next"
9. Enter your accesspoint (mms.eplus.de), click on "Next"
10. Enter username and password for your connection (e.g. Username: eplus, Password: wap)
11. Click on Advanced and check, if "Use server-assigned IP address" is activated in both tabs
then
12: Tap OK and x to close everything
13: Open the messaging application
14: Press the menu softkey
15: Select MMS Configuration
16: Tap the servers tab
17: Tap New
18 Enter the following details:
server name: - E-plus
Gateway: 212.023.097.153
Port Number: 9201
server address: http://mms/eplus.de
Connect via: (here, select the connection created above)
Size : (go for the biggest and bring it down later if it fails.)
Wap Version: 2.0 should work on all modern networks.
19: Tap ok
20: Tap Set as default
that should do it. As I'm here in the UK, i am going by the settings over at modaco.com for eplus, so check those with your provider.
Should work for you!

edit: have found the solution
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Arcsoft\ArcSoft MMS UA\Config\UI\SizeLimit]
"SendCount"-> Setting how Many "Sending Size limitations" listed in DropDown Listed ..
"SendDefault"=dword:00019000 -> Setting the Default Send Limitation
"SendLimit1"=dword:0000C800 -> Send Limit one can be change ex. 50K=dword:0000C800
"SendLimit2"=dword:00019000 -> Send Limit two can be change ex. 100K=dword:00019000
"SendLimit3"=dword:0003E800 -> Send Limit three can be change ex. 250K=dword:00003E800

I got the GPRS connection to work so thanks to bmueller for posting clear and detailed steps to get it to work
I GOT IT!!!
Hey guys. Thanks for all your help.
Now I fixed it. 8)
All settings were correct, except the port.
The port 9201 didn't work, so I tried the port :!: :!: :!: 5080 :!: :!: :!: for Nokia-mobiles today.
Now I can send and receive any MMS-Message.
@Triband: I'm sure, you know german, but as this is an english forum and some other users could have your problem, too, I decided to write the HowTo in english.
Thanks for the port hint, I'll have to see if I can get this to work as well. I wasn't able to locate the port option under the MMS Server setup on WM2003SE. But the GPRS part works great .

Hi Guys!
If you can send/receive MMSes can you please tell how to send one?
What should I have in my menus? And why I can see all those settings but can't send?
Cheers Guys!
Ok, what I've tried next:
1. checking MMS settings (yes, they are in MENU)
2. taking a picture and tried to send this picture as a MMS (didn't work twice, Exec has just hang)
3. found http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=261852&highlight=o2+settings and tried to applay those settings one more time. No joy...
Strange thing is that I don't have MMS folder but I do have MMS settings
Any other ideas? I really need MMSes (like never before, I'm heavy user but just calls and GPRS/WIFi- no texts (10-20/mth) or MMSes (5 in my whole life or even less)
Cheers
Chris

T-Mobile MMS Settings?
Originally, I wrote:
I have a similar problem with my Jasjar and T-Mobile (USA): MMS messages just sit there, and occasionally I get a notification that they couldn't be sent...? My Jasjar was purchased independently and is unlocked. Is there some T-Mobile USA file I need to upload to the device? And can I do it via my Mac and Missing Sync?

Well, I uploaded a T-Mobile settings file which I had downloaded from i-mate, et voilá! I was able to send MMSes. It also (when I choose to disconnect from the GPRS network) restored the G-in-a-square that had become dashed two-way arrows. Unfortunately, there's still something interfering with syncing with my Mac via Missing Sync for Windows Mobile.... Thanks! Cheers,
Has either one of you tried to contact your provider and actually ask them to help you with the settings? I mean really, CALL customer service and have them either walk you through it, or get the settings and we'll help you input them if it comes to that.
Hi,
No, I havn't. The reason is that I do have:
- VGA hack (OZ)
- load of programs (which shouldn't affect anyway MMS as they are not affecting emails and texts)
- I've done full backup + restore using SPB backup tool (from older ROM to newer, as my phone went for service)
Now I going to do hard reset.
I just have to create list of installed programs, prepare them etc.
I've even installed windows
Anyway, it looks like something is going on with MMSes...
Cheers
Chris
None of the things you mentioned can be used as an excuse for not calling your provider of the settings:
a. OzVGA has a nice little button which will allow you to boot in normal mode.
b. Nothing to do with MMS
c. That might be a problem altogether, it's generally not recommended restoring on newer ROM.

but this is a problem, because connection setup has this old settings and not working, thats the reason why I want to change this cab because mms works only when I delete this automatic settings and start over with manual.
I shall mail this cab to my operator if you can change it. maybe they will upload it to network automatic setting.
Thanx
seems strange that the cab would have an .exe file in it. Plus of course it was put together 4/5 years ago, and the max OS version is 4.21
Chances of it working on your phone are slim, even if they do change the xml settings to match your mms settings,

HD2 APN settings

Where do you add new APN settings? I went to all settings/connections/connections but don't see any place to insert all the APN settings..?
Original post:
HD2 noobie here. Have it unlocked on AT&T. Phone/SMS all work fine. I don't get any internet(mail, facebook, marketplace, etc.) unless I'm on wifi. I realize being on AT&T I can only get edge(which is fine). I've been on a tmobile phone(G1 on edge prior to getting this phone) since last year with no problems. I figured it was my sim card. I took my old G1 and put my sim in there, works no problems. Also put a different sim card under my account(my dads) in my HD2, same problem. I've narroed it down to the HD2 itself but I have no clue what could be keeping it from getting on edge/internet.
I get a 'Cannot COnnect'' error that says:
Cannot connect for an unknown reason. To check your connection settings and change them if needed, tap settings. If the problem continues, reset your mobile device according to your manufactuerer's documentation and try again.

Then after hitting 'Dismiss' I see:

Make sure your Internet connection is active and check wether other applications that rely on the same connection are working

Your APN settings are wrong; if you have a TMOUS or Telstra HD2 it won't have AT&T settings on it, you need to create new connection profiles with AT&T settings.
I'm assuming it uses the same APN settings as my G1 on AT&T did? But where the heck do I enter new APN settings at on this phone?
I've looked everywhere for APN settings. Can anyone help please?
settings - all settings - connections - connections
I have tried that and saw NOTHING about APN settings.
