hi guys,
having a bit of a problem, for some reason the speaker and mic have stopped working. My prophet will look as though it is receiving a call, but when i come ot answer it is dead, its the same for audio, i i have the headphones unpluged no sound will come out of the external speaker what soever, even though it shows it is working in the media player.
anybody have anyideas? i tried a rom change which did nothing at all, wondering if my prophet is close to the end!!
thanks
p.s the audio seems to work fine if i use my headphones
i really want to know the answer to this problem cause same thing happened to me 1 month. I took the phone to a service center and for 35E he fix it and i wanna know what he did
P.S.: don't worry ur phone is not to an end
hey i had the same problem over the weekend. initially it was my external speakers, knew it was the problem for some time anyway, but suddenly when i try to make a call, i can't hear the dialing tone & when the person answers the call, they can't hear me. thought my 818pro was a goner.
hard reset, soft reset but still no avail. even went out & bought a very cheap nokia as temp replacement. then this morning somehow i can hear the dialing tone when i make a call & the phone bits are working as normal. even my external speakers!!!
so don't know what happened & what i did but somehow i got my phone to work again.
sorry i can't give you any tips on what i did though.....
where di you take it to get it fixed?
or anybody got any advice on where to go from here?
Hey.. yesterday I had the same problem... but I think I have found the solution.... a very hard reset..... you have to take off your battery and put it back after 2 hours.
Kukutis
mine just went back to normal. don't know what i did. yeah, try taking the battery out, soft reset and as a last resort.... hard reset. make sure u backup all ur data if u still want them....
right i tried that, took the battery off for the whole night and still no success!
anyone know what needs fixing here?
Yes! I thought i was alone, but my SPV m600 (prophet) has been having speaker glitches for a little while.
At first, I noticed it after i'd removed the handsfree set. The sound did not return, so I rebooted, hard reset etc. Nothing changed. Then I thought that it could be a problem with the socket, so I used the jack of the set to wiggle it about, and eventually, it came back.
Then, it started happening every time I used the headphones. Fiddling about inside with the jack no longer did it, when I realised what I was doing at the same time the first time, flicking the volume back and forth, so I tried that, and it worked.
Then, most recently, i'd pick up a call, and there'd be silence. Then, it'd cut in. Now, the sound goes randomly. It's gone twice today, and it took me a long time of volume flicking to get it back.
Has anyone found a solution or contacted the manufacturer?
same thing happen to mine, removed the headset and speaker wouldnt work.
Ended up sending it in to get fixed, took 6 weeks and they replaced the speaker. That didnt solve the problem, so they fully replaced the motherboard
Screw that, I'll just wait a few months until my upgrade.
?
thats a good call, upgrade it is and think it might be time for a touch or a Trinity, anyone want to buy a prophet for spares or repair?
anyone need one? think its time for a change
let me know
thanks
Hello,
the problem is in the heaset jack. There is a little switch in that jack that causes the speaker to shut down while the headset is plugged in.... But now when you pull it out the switch hangs and it won't switch back... I already had the problem mysself and since then I try to avoid using that jack. A method to get the speakers back to work is: Playing a song on the phone and plug and unplug the headset until it works.... (In mycase it solved the problem, but I can't guarantee that it WILL work....)
I think, that maybe changing that jack would solve that problem.....
Same here. After playing a while with the headset sound came back. I don't believe i'll be using the headset from now on.
mine still isnt working, had it open and cant get to the switch in the headphone jack
try this:
put the earphones in the audiojack and while you slowly pull it out,
try to rotate it in all directions and press it outwards while doing so
maybe your sound will come on again because there is a small pin in the audiojack that is checking if your earphones are connected
and that can bend in ways it shouldn't bend and you phone still thinks your earphones are on

Strange problem. For the second time in one week, there is no sound in the earpiece when answering a call. I have to turn on the loudspeaker to hear the caller. Not so great when answering a private call among strangers...
The loudspeaker works fine for audio and calls. Only the earpiece is not working. I had read somewhere something about the headset jack messing up the contacts but I've not used it in ages. The last time this happened, it finally went away after many soft resets. Anyone else with this problem? And hopefully the solution!
I have the same problem with my SPV M3000 Orange.
that's what I have too...With the original ROM
Have you found a bypass?
No.
(J'ai contacté le SAV Orange et il me le change demain)
Hi everyone. Sorry about my first post is asking for help... but I really don't know what to do.
well the problem is that i don't hear sound in a call but the people can Hear-me.
but the speaker is working, bacause if I use the volume buttons (the side ones) they play the beeps and in the midle of that I can ear the other person for abou 2secs.
for reference the speakerphone works ( 3 seconds pressing the green) an the hands free earphone.
I think its no hardware but... i dont know
I've got that problem aswell....i've already opened the phone so to figure out what was happening...The thing is: there's 2 speakers: one loudspeaker and one earspeaker.
What most certainly happened to your phone was that your earspeaker went dead. you hear sounds when you move the side button up and down, because what is broken is the earspeaker, NOT the loudspeaker.
If you want to do a small test, just call someone, and press the green button for 3 secs. you'll start hearing the other person, which proves that the loudspeaker is OK, but the earspeaker is dead.
Solution: go to where you bought your phone and ask for a earspeaker replacement.
BTW: there's a pdf somewhere on this site related to this issue, that explains how to open the phone and how to clean the earspeaker conectors so to "revive" your earspeaker, but honestly, that doesn't work 99,999% of the cases. Usually, the issue is that the earspeaker is simply DEAD. Period. Did you [or someone] by any chance dropped the phone sometime ago? - That's what happened to me...1-2 days afterwards, the earspeaker went dead.
P.S.:
- Don't you open the phone...there's too many small parts...i opened mine and a small ribbon lock got broken...now i can't even repair it under the warranty agreement.
- If you have a modded firmware, just install a original one from the Qtek site if you want to activate your warranty. (yes - they will "blacklist" your phone for life if you go there with a modded firmware - only way to solve it is to pay up for the repair).
Regards :-(
Keeper
Thanks for the reply.
Well I did opened the phone yesterday 2 times trying to clean the contacts and give it a little bit more strong... but didn't work, I found with one friend that if aI press a little bit with the fingers near de opening the speaker starts to work, but when I take the pression away stops... well, the speakers is connected to a daughter board so maybe the problem is the connection of the daughterboard to the motherboard.... will try that friday with my friend... and well no chance to fix it. buyed this week on Ebay... for a good price... but anyway dont worry about opening the phone, I studied electronics, and I am used to work with electronics... but this phone its really well assembled!!!!!
anyway some one can tell me where to find that pdf that you talked about?

I have the same problem on my second magician. Had to dump the first one because of it. The speaker turns on and off but you can always have it working for a second or so when you drag the volume 'slider' (the hardware one on the side of the device). Then it goes silent after you release the volume control.
I brought my first device to the service center. They replaced the speaker but it got broken again on the following day. I was not able to fix it since then so i have to use either the earphone set or the speakerphone (hold the green button) to be able to hear the person I am speaking to.
Good, I bought mine to a friend and the telephone never had given problems, worked 5 * during the week where it stows of you wounded, when I came back to the work, I I work in one camera of rifregeração 8º and am always inside and it are, it started to have this problem, but descontinuadamente, I left of leading for camera and it never more transferred itself. Final conclusion, the problem must not to the cold in itself, but yes á condensation provoked for the brusque variation of temperatures the one that it is subject.

just to warn you - you will loose all your information on the device - so take precautions, synchronize with PC... The hard reset is performed the following way - Press and hold the Camera and the CommManager buttons and in the same time reset the device with the stylus. Do not release the Camera and the CommManager button until you see a text asking you to format the FAT. Then press send and you are ready...
so that means ill even loose operating system? how would i go about putting it back on?
Jeez i sound like such a useless bugger, i build pc's for part of my living lol
All this mobile stuff is new to me though.
Thanks
EDIT :
just done hard reset, and its still got no sound
Col

Col

someone must have an answer lol
Col
ok, just found a 2.5 TO 3.5 JACK THINGY for sale at maplins, will go tmoro and then try headphones on it if that fails then i have no idea what steps to take next
Colin
does it have sound when u plugin ur headset? do you always plugin ur headset to the phone? i maybe think there's something wrong with the headset jack or slot, either short circuit or whatever, i am not sure as i am no expert.
last time my neo also like that..u can try and put the headset back in again, then try to remove it again, but maybe slowly. try a few times and i think it will be ok. from that that time onwards, i never use the headset...bought a bluetooth headset.
it worked fine last nite, and ive never used a headset. thats why im gonna buy a 2.5 jack to try some headphones tommorow, see if i get sound from them. ah well, have it less than a day and it breaks lol
Cheers
Colin
FIXED
was the red wire on speaker lol
w000t
Col
How did you fix that ?
My S200 have the same problem , i have a paper up the speaker on the red wire, but sometimes it rings, and sometimes not.
What is your trick ?
Check out this thread, it may help...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=234650
This post is for the Magician, but it may help with your prophet too.
Also, there was talk about a software bug that caused problems like this. The solution was to:
Call voicemail (or somewhere that you KNOW is generating sound)
Plug in your Headset, listen for sound...
Unplug the headset.
I dont know if that was the exact solution. The above post has a link to other posts, as well.

i think your speaker is out. same problem as mine, tried the 'sponge' method & worked for a while, think mine needs to be replaced. prophet speakers tend to have a lot of problems from what i gather...
try searching in the prophet forum for 'speaker' u can find the thread that i'm talking about.
Hello all
I have big problem with my himalaya. When someone calling to me or I calling to someone i can't hear anything and he can't hear me. But I can hear ring tone, mp3. I can hear someone and he can hear me when I connect my XDA 2 to computer.
What i can do with That??
the problem is with the connector.few Pins are broken or are touching each ither...which causes the Hima to go into Car Mode..try connecting a Headphone and see if it works or not..else get your Connector replaced
no audio
If the above doesn't work, this could be a problem, which after a LOT of research I don't believe there has been a fix found for. Essentially , my problem and a problem my mate had was that the audio on the phone was working FINE, MP3, ringtone etc... but upon answering or calling, there was no IN CALL sound. it WORKED with a headset, but no amount of fiddling with the jack sorted it out. THe LOUDSPEAKER also would NOT work.
Having a few donar phones lying about, I just put a new board into the phone and forgot about the problemed one for a week or so, left it laying in my drawer. Tried it in the phone after waiting this time, and it worked FINE.... the problem had rectified itself.
I know this isn't necessarily helpful, but perhaps leaving the phone in a dry warm place ? could be moisture..?
hope this helps.
..........IB a n e
well, it happend with me yesterday, just took the Batt. out ( 30 second), put it back, reset the device, and all will be OK,....its a software feature AND NOT A BUG... beleave it or NOT....

Hello,
I have a Samsung Galaxy s4 i9505.
The phone has a big problem, all day long i get the meesage that EARPHONES CONNECTED, 200 times a day. i didnt wet the phone, o something like this, the problem came out from nowhere. I have guaranty, but i will only be home in a month, nad i have to use the phone like this. the problem is that when i receive calls, the internal speakers are muted because of the fake earphones signal, and i cannot talk only on speaker. i.ve used soundabout.apk to make the phone ignore the earphones signal when i receive a call, but the trial has expired.
i need your advice or a solution. i have allready all the metods on cleaning the headphone jack. if anyone knows a program that can disable the jack detection would be perfect.
thank tyou

Sounds like your headphone jack is broken...
But first try to clean, maybe it's dirty
At device powered off take one cotton swab for ears and alcohol, remove a bit of cotton to make the swab less big then pour alcohol on it and insert into headphone jack, move swab up and down, left and right.
Now insert the other (dry) side and do the same.
If this doesn't fix your problem, it's broken
