Here are some of my question regarding my atom exec.
1. Why does the keyboard skin doesn't work with my atom exec? Did any of you make it work with our atom?
2. When I open the Power in the settings, the percentage of remaining power doesn't show up but the battey bar show the remaining power. (I will post some pictures if needed.)
Thanks in advance

It used to be there, and now it's gone! i didn't do anything, soft reset doesn't help! any ideas?

Hi Rob
Having the same problem with the Xda Exec.
After I did a soft rest the battery icon desapered.
Anybody out they knows how to get it back on the Today Screen.
Please help.
Gigino
I actually searched for a while to find a way to remove the battery icon. In the end, the only way I'm aware of to remove it is to run this:
Signed_UNI_Remove_BatteryIcon.sa.CAB
from the O2 XDA Exec extended ROM. Since I have a Jasjar I had to download that cab from the FTP site here. My guess is that you have an XDA Exec and you recently hard reset it and allowed the CABs in the extended ROM to run, or you ran that program from the extended ROM manually.
Unfortunately, I'm not sure how you undo it once it's been run. It doesn't appear in Remove Programs and while I'm sure it just makes a registry change somewhere I haven't got a clue where
Personally, I never did like that battery icon anyway... it didn't seem to be terribly accurate and it was only visible from the today screen. I use the freeware program batti as a battery monitor instead.
hth,
Brett
I have the same problem, though I don't miss it that much. Must specify that in my case, it didn't happen after a soft reset, it just happened.
Have you not tried opening the CAB in WinRAR, manually looking at the files and attempting to find which registry entry it modifies? I can't find the CAB on the FTP site, but I'm not that bothered as I don't have a Magician but if someone passes me a link for it, I'll have a look.
try this regkey
HKLM\services\power\ShowIcon
Change the 0 to 1
Soft reset - and you're cookin'
Nice one, giving that a go now - slightly unrelated but I'm using GS Pocket Magic and when using the 'Close All' command, my shortcut bar buttons disappear, the ones at the bottom of the screen that read CONTACTS and CALENDAR.
Any ideas?

It's a known issue with Pocket Magic... there was a thread on it a while ago. From what I understand, there is some program or process that runs in the background that makes those shortcut buttons appear. Since Pocket Magic was designed for WM 2003 it doesn't know about that process, so it kills it when you do the close all. Since I'm no longer using Pocket Magic I don't know if anyone has managed to resolve the issue.
Brett
Ok, thanks for your reply - I notice PocketMagic has the functionality to NOT terminate certain programs (this option is in the Preferences for it), so if we can identify this process, we can exclude it...
I'll investigate...hang on!
Frustratingly my version of SKTools only lists the top 6 processes, if we can go through each one by one, we can suss out which process it is!
hi Robt,
to get back your battery icon, just do a hard reset and the battery icon it will appear again..it works for me. i've got same problem like you.
hope this help you and other
ps:i'm use universal with corporate install
good luck
NO Don't hard reset, thats just stupid!! For anyone looking for a genuine answer that won't cause loss of data, do this...as the chap recommends above.
1. Use registry editor to browse to 'HKLM\services\power\ShowIcon'
2. Change the value 0 to a 1
3. Soft reset
No data lost, and a nice battery icon for you!
since i dont have many data and many program installed in my exec, the simple things just do it my way (although u will lose your data). but hey that the simple way since i'm a beginner and it's difficult doing some registry hack for me. any way you can do it with hard reset or soft reset like ashley.
my 2 cents
Did you mean the batter icon at the top of the screen or at the bottom. Because the batter icon in the title bar is an O2 program that runs from a link in the start up folder.
The problem with doing it with a hard reset to get the battery icon back is: as soon as you perform a soft reset, you will again loose the battery icon. So there is no point really of performing a hard reset to get the battery icon back since you will loose it anyway if you perform a soft reset.
To me this battery icon is USELESS! Why? Its only purpose is a shortcut to Start>Settings>System>Memory>Battery level. To be completely useful to me, it should be a real INDICATOR icon of the actual battery level. But sadly it is not. Maybe this is the reason why they want it out of the way.
Plus, I use HandyMenu which has an option to show the battery level at an instant. Plus I get more functionality with it.
Maybe we're talking about different battery meters but mine appears bottom right hand corner and acfurately reflects the status of the battery - The simple registry change does it!

Yes, that is the icon I was referring to. The one that can be shown by what you posted.
HMMMMMMM, maybe I did not look hard enough on mine. I remmber on mine when my battery was 89%, the battery icon still looks like it was full, thus making my assumption it does not reflect the actual battery charge. I did notice that it shows if I have it plugged in though. Maybe I should try it again, now that my battery is low.

It does show the battery charge, but it does a terrible job of it. As I recall, the battery needs to get well past 75% before the icon shows anything but a full charge. It was really pretty useless if you ask me.

Thanks BrettS, you save me a reset. I was timing my lovely puppy here how long it can work without any problems without a soft reset. So far 5 days and still running in excellent condition. I am trying to prove to myself that pocket PCs nowadays are stable as can be. This is my first pocket PC and I was afraid to buy a pocket PC before because a lot of palm users said you need to soft reset PPCs a lot to get it running neatly. Now I know it is BOGUS and purely INCORRECT.

in my case, after performing a hard reset to get back my battery icon, i didnt
notice and didnt count exactly how many times after i performed soft reset then the battery icon gone again.because this my first experience with battery icon vanished. but as long i remembered, after i performed a hard reset then next day performed a soft reset, the battery icon still there.so i assumed that the best way for me to get battery icon back, since i'm not expert with registry hack and worried if do anything wrong with my new toys.
just want to share my experience with a beginner solution.
yeah maybe the icon is not usefull, but the icon looks cute.
Just bought Atom and upgrade it with the newest rom via official web.
Many time the Atom cannot switched ON, only the green led keeps blinking. If somebody's calling, Atom just not ringing. I tried to soft reset but cannot, nothing happened and I need to remove the battery. After that the O2 screen will freeze and I need to remove the battery for 2nd time. Is it normal? Pls help how to fix these problems. thx

You may want to reflash your device with the latest software found at the seeo2 site (or on the ftp here). Your device may be corrupted

just rolled back to previous 0123 .. will keep you guys notified with the results
0123 is too primitive. After your test, re-install the latest ROM which has all the fixes 8)

0123 gave the correct sof-reset behavior but performance was very poor
0426 was rolled out again .. the bug became permanent - soft reset fully hangs device
moreover the speaker now hissing.. what the --K
Did you re-download the update, or just re-used the old one on your pc?
On hissing, I noticed that when I use a charger from another device to charge Atom  So I use Atom charger for all my pocket pc's and no problem now. Maybe the more endowed techies can rubbish this

Hi folks,
I have discovered, that all provided shutdown techniques (for example in psshutxp) are more a "standby" switch. Is there any way to perform a real shutdown ? It would be nice cause my battery goes down after a week even if I dont use the pda ..

are you sure? i've been using pshutxp since forever and it does the job for me...
after you click restart, it does a soft reset.. (bootscreen, welcome screen, load startup items, then today...)
that is what you're trying to do ryt?
or are you looking for a hard-reset (wipe everything clean, start from factory settings- or Cooked ROM settings)??
Shutdown.
Hi,
no, softreset as restart works fine for me too. I meant the "Shutdown" which disables the pda, but just like a standby. If you switch it on, it works on at the last task. I'd like to have a real shutdown - pda is "off", no battery usage.

maybe if u want to really shutdown .. it can not. your battery is usage because when it's off .. the signal still active. so, u must sign off the signal.
1. Go to Desktop.
2. Select Signal icon
3. select "Turn on flight mode"
Thx,

no, that is no real shut off, PPC just wents to Standby as you see if you press the button again .. but I accept, that PPC is not designed to shut off like e.g. computers ..

Hermes can shut down by pressing and holding the power button. Why not the Himalaya?
it would result in a cleared ramdisk
No shutdown available
There is no way to shutdown the pocket pc. 'cos this device use a volatile RAM as the main/ramdisk storage, so if you turn off the device, all the softwares and data stored on the main/ramdisk storage are gone forever....
Try turn on the flight mode and power off the ppc maybe it will do the trick..
remove the battery.but what is backup battery mean?
I have a BIG problem because I install this app 'EveryWAN-Remote-Support-3-0-15760' from this http://www.sparus-software.com/spip....wnload&lang=en and I don't know why... my HD is death now I was in activesync with this app and I try all tools TaskManager, FileStorage and when I click the icon 'turn-off screen'... no more HD..., no charge... dont soft-reset, don't bootloader, etc. I'am now very un-happy because I don't understand what's happen with my HD
If nothing else work, why don't you try a hard reset?
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=puL795s1bY4 <- second half of the video is how you do it.
Hi,
Have you tried to remove the battery, wait a little, and place it back?
Also, refer to this thread:

Thanks for your help... I know do a Hard-Reset but the problem is don't charge, don't show the red led in top charging also, I put off the battery 20 minutes and no way... don't work the button Power... don't work the button Soft-Reset, I can't enter in Bootloader mode...
Hi,
Have you checked that thread I mentioned?
Look specially at this post:

Well, some other things to try:
- check if some button (including soft reset) is mal-functioning. Try to release, or clean them.
- is any card (sim or memory) in the phone? If yes, remove them.
- has the phone been exposed to moisture, liquids? ensure that it is dried out, but do not expose it directly to heat or to a dryer...
- try to connect the charger to the phone without battery, leave it a little then disconnect, then place battery and finally the charger , trying to power on
- have you contacted the author of the rom about the issue? Maybe he might have some ideas ...
Good luck!

P.

Me too, I lost my contact list because of that
My first guess would be your batteries are already weak. Try using a newer battery.
I´ve got nearly the same problem, but when my magician is off (sleep) too long it wont wake to WinMo. The only way to make it boot was holding pwr button for few seconds what made it hard reset... But when i formatted my battery 2 times, then used batclear just to be sure, it works like new!
Ps. My battery is AwFuL. It even does not have the front lid!
first is ur battery or your backup battery only, otherwise your phone is completely corrupted..........
