O2HomeZone support found for Magician - JAM, MDA Compact, S100 General

I don´t have O2 but perhaps someone can test it using O2 as provider.
Edit your registry:
HKCU\ControlPanel\PhoneExtendFunction
"EnableO2HomeZone"=dword:00000001
Then soft reset your phone.
This function is from RilGsm.dll

Carrier logo under WM2003

After I updated my XDA to WM2003, I can't seem to use a operator logo like I could using PPC2002....
I tried editing the registry and using a carrierlogo.gif but both methods don't work anymore.
Can someone please tell me how this can be done under WM2003?
Thanks in advance,
Max
Which ROM did you upgrade to also did you do a RS update with it?
just run T-Mobile Phone Book program, you need to run it at least once.
After the Phone Book program can load all contact from your sim, your carrier logo will appear.
No luck here......
Did you use the carrierlogo.gif, of did you edit the registry?
edit the registry... i remember there was a post about how to do it...
does the operator logo work on XDA II ??
I am using a qtek rom 1.60
It work on XDAII also. But seems some problems with that.
1. You can not get "real "white background of the gif file.
2. carrier logo high limited 20/21 pixels. Too small too see the logo.
3. Logo only appeared in dial interface and incall interface.
I had test it on my XDAII last night.

WM5 dialpad and smart dialler

I've got an XDA Mini, but installed using the corporate install - no O2 rubbish.
I used the registry hack to change the dialpad back to the original WM5 one, but now the smartdialler thing won't work. I've changed back to the O2 one and it works again.
Any suggestions to get smartdialler working with the WM5 dialpad?
Cheers.
The extended Rom contains additional configuration and registry settings as a CAB. I reset mine without the O2 stuff then ran Smartdialing_enable_0915_signed.CAB from the extended rom directory. Restart the device after that and you've got the smart dialler back (well thats how it worked for me anyway!).
Does not work. It is possible more in detail?
I think will not work!
I Have a T-Mobile MDA Vario, chnge registry too because don't like T-Mobile Dialer skin, and smartdialer not work anymore... same as bsterngillet.
Now I change ROM to Qtek and work dialer and smartdialer WM5 default... and is much light = speed!

When you say not working, do you mean the .CAB file is not there or that nothing happens when you run it?
If it isn't there I could post my copy to the internet but other than that I am only going on my experiences with UK ROM's I'm afraid! On another thread, user 'Plantagoo' has cleared up what the CAB files do more so it may be that your device does not have the smartdialler program (I'm just guessing here!).
Where to take Smart Dialing for Pocket PC ver. 2.2?

O2 and Orange settings ?

Hi Guys,
I got my Universal [O2 XDA Exec] today, its a replacement for my old Ipaq H5550. So far i'm very impressed with the PPC side of it. But totally lost with the phone side
One of the things i've already discovered is its not locked to O2, and i've already tested it with my Orange PAYG sim. Which is the reason for this post.
Is there a way to use the O2 settings/servers to daytime [work] use, and the Orange settings/servers for night [playtime] ?
I don't need a one button solution, i don't mind getting a little messy.
if you can extract the cab files for operator settings fro the orange and o2 extended rom and save them as read only on your device you could just run the one you want to use and soft reset.
Hi Midget_1990,
Damn, that was quick.
I'll over to the FTP site and have a play.
Thanks.
OK, had a look in the Ext ROM folders, but theres no clues in their names, and I don't know enough about CAB's to pull them apart.
I did find a thread explaining what the CAB's in the O2 Ext ROM do, and a modified CAB with just the O2 settings, [Thanks Dingo].
Can anyone tell me if someone has made a simular CAB for the Orange settings, or which CAB's in the Orange Ext ROM the settings are in ?
Thanks Guys.

today plugin available that shows network name?

Since my operator, O2 Germany, has a national roaming agreement with T-Mobile I'd like to have a plugin for the today screen, that will permanently show the current network's name.
Does such a plugin exist?
Search for dktoday in these forums
.... and it does so much more
I had this on my old BlueAngel with dual sim adaptor, I don't kwow if the software will work on WM5 too, but you can try it:
WIVmobile SIM Status Switcher:
http://www.wivmobile.com/products/SSS.shtml
You don't need a dual sim adapor to run it, if you have only one sim you will switch always between the same SIM card.
The BatteryStatus plugin on the prophet forum shows a network opereator of you want but what ever you do - don't enable the overclock settings as they are for OMAP processors.
Restoring Today Item: WiFi, BT and Phone Connection Status
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Today\Items\
Create "Wireless" use Key
"Flags"=dword:00000000
"Options"=dword:00000000
"DLL"="netui.dll"
"Order"=dword:00000000
"Enabled"=dword:00000001
"Type"=dword:00000004
Give Hudsonmobile PhoneDashboard and/or Hudsonmobile IPDashboard a try. These software do what you are looking for plus a host of other things.

Really cool tweak !!!
Don't understand why this hasn't been enabled by default out of the box...
@pof:
Could you please include it in the collection of Reg Tweaks for the TyTN ?
Thx.
Side comment:
Which expert now come across a tweak for differentiating between UMTS/HSDPA and GPRS/EDGE ?

There is a plugin called o2plus availiable for the Asian o2 devices
http://www.seeo2.com/product/XdaAtom/template/O2Plusv2_2005.vm
Here is the thread on it

I gave it a try and it does give you a bunch of neat plugins you can use. The carrier display is one of them.

Orange m700 Orange World Tv

ok I got a new m700 from carphonewarehouse a couple of days a go. It's been unlocked and ROM flashed with The offical HTC Rom. I wanted to try get connected to Orange TV subscription, but find out that apprently the url
http://orangeworld.co.uk doesn't take me to the page it should, there is a page on the original ROM that stores the orange world webpage which allows you to access premium services.
Anyone know how to get this back onto the device. Orange basically are not supporting this even though one of their customer service reps advised me to use the HTC ROM to enable the GPS.
At worst does anyone know where I can get the Original Orange ROM from? Could it be that I just need the orange Today theme back?
Thanks for any replies..
Thats strange, I have the M700 and my GPS was enabled with the Orange ROM.
Personally I'd say you've been screwed by customer support, as now you've flashed your ROM, they will no longer support the device, as it's not factory standard.
Nobody has the Orange ROM available, went through this about a month back, Orange havent released it and it's not a simple job of just dumping the ROM from an Orange SPV M700, sorry.
Thanks. Was only today when Orange informed me that the M700 does come Gps enabled. Everything else works fine but would have been nice to try the tv service out. Daft that orange will only let you order the service through the handset and on a gprs connection. Can anyone tell me what the orange extended cab files are for?

Plus how do you 'hard reset' this phone?
Not from their point of view, you're using GPRS, pay more to them.
The Orange GPS software is a prime example, not only do you have to pay for the software, but every time you plan a route, it connects to Orange via GPRS and downloads the route, double the cash!
Yeah guy in CPW said I'd get co-pilot free with it. But next day when I went to pick it up he said it only came free with a £50 a month data package. Just laughed at him... he seemed to think that co-pilot was gprs based for some reason.
So then does anyone know how to 'dump' the orange today theme from the m700?
You will need a copy of the Orange ExtROM, then perform a hard reset. You'll probably also need the Orange boot screens to make it look totally Orange-like.
BS...
My manuals at home. How do I perform the hard reset?
the orange extrom contains nothing useful really, just a few tweaks to adjust whats already on the rom. The WWE M700 hasnt been released by Orange so theres no way to get it back, or any of the orange programs, plugins or today screen.
The Orange Ext_Rom doesn't contain all the Orange customisations, unlike most previous Pocket PC's. Orange now seem to include some of their stuff in the main ROM, so these can't be easily replaced.
The Orange Today theme is possible to reload, but probably won't contain the OrangeTV or OrangeWorld stuff.
If you were told by CS to reflash the ROM with the HTC ROM, because the CS Rep was badly informed, or badly trained, there may be a record of this advice on your customer record- if so you'd have good grounds to ask for a replacement with a genuine Orange ROM.

this link seems to sort out the problem on the artemeis. Any ideas if sommin simliar work work on the m700?

Hi colmroche,
Click on the link below to take you to the HTC support site, from there you can download a full instruction manual and also a GPS instruction manual for the m700.

Right. Finally got a solution for this...pens ready..
Get hold of and install 'resco registry' software, then using the 'find' tool, goto
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Security\Internet explorer\User Agent
Then put this line into the editable txt field.
ppc; 240x320; SPV M700; OpVer 5.1.465
And do the same for:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings\5.0\User Agent\Post Platform
ppc; 240x320; SPV M700; OpVer 5.1.465
Note: I have the HTC Offical ROM on my M700 so the OpVer may be different depending on what ROM you have flashed on the phone.
Also you can browse to http://wap.orange.co.uk/transform on the handset, and if the ppc string shows up as above you shoudl be ready to go.
Hello,
I added the line to the registry but when I got to the Orangeworld site I still get a text version as if its an old style wap page?
Is there a specific address I should be using with IE, or is there something else I need to have edited?
Thanks for the info so far though
Hi,
I had this exact problem with the vodafone live website. Could someone with an Orange m700 handset visit http://www.useragentstring.com and paste the result from the "Your User Agent String" in the forum.
hollandg, could you do the same thing and post your result. This way we can compare the two strings.
If this isnt the problem, I suspect it may be either incorrect proxy settings, or you're not connecting to the site via the correct 3G data connection.
...also, just wondering, did you clear your browser history, cookies and cache?

And try the other registry edit I've added to post above.
Still nothing :-(
tried the 2 regedits, now it seems the internet connection full stop is not working ... but when it was I still couldnt get the 'proper' orangeworld website?
Anyone know if this is something to do with a file that lives in the M700 rom that needs extracting?

Ive done that. And progress of sorts. For Orange World the graphics are back but my number is still 'not recognised' so cannot access my home pages or Orange TV. Using www.useragenstring.com. Ive got ??? against SPV, M700, OpVer and 5.1.465. Perhpas there are some other registry settings needing further tweaks?
A friend of mine has an unflashed M700. Her network details for Orange Wap pointed at 192.168.10.2. (different from the ones given by Orange -192.168.71.35). This doesnt connect on my M700. Dont understand this.
Ive still not managed to find a solution to this issue. Could somebody with an uncooked Orange UK M700 please look up the following registry keys for me?
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Security\Internet explorer\User Agent
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Curr entVersion\Internet Settings\5.0\User Agent\Post Platform
Could anybody advise me as to how to find out the appropriate OpVer for my M700, now cooked with Muns wonderful WM6 ROM. Is this the same as the OS? -this shows as 5.2.1413.3 on mine. But this setting doesnt give a solution to my access problems to Orange World.
