Hi I have a O2 Atom and tried connecting WI-FI with my Laptop but it would not. Can you tell me the procedure. I tired turning the Wifi on but it will not. I went to settings>connections>wifi Utility>Menu>Turn On Wifi but it just shows satuts as Wifioff. I checked in Menu>about and it shows Driver Version: Wifi not enabled, Firmware Version: Wifi not enabled, Mac Address: Wifi not enabled.
I am using the latest ROM Official update. What could be the problem? Is there any tweak to solve this problem. Please assist someone.
if you have the latest ROM, use wireless manager to turn on wifi.
tap on anthena on upper bar, then tap "wireless manager", then turn wifi on.

Wifi OFF Will not turn on
I tired it but it would not turn on. I can turn on and off the radio or the bluetooth but the wireless. Would not go on. So I tired through Settings as mentioned before but that too does not help. Please tell me what I can do?
1. Run selftest, to be sure, that it isn't hardware problem
2. Try HARD RESET
In your notebook configure wireless software to Ad Roc, default is infrastructure
I tired Self Diagnostic and the WLAN Module Test Detected a Mac Addr: 02-02-b3-92-a8-c4. Then I reset and then tried to turn it on but does not turn on.
I checked my computer settings and it is set to Ad-Hoc. :?
Please someone assist me
I have noted one thing for sure that when I am away from my computer and have checked the wireless Manager shows the Wifi: Off.
When I click Menu > Wi-fi Settings it goes to creating a new profile. But when I am close to this laptop I want to connect to the profile page does not show. :!: :!:
WHY is this happening :?: :?: :?: :?: :?:
SOLUTION to WIFI Problem In O2 Atom
I had tremendous problems with my O2 WIFI which would not connect to my laptop WIFI LAN Network. I asked O2 People & Lot of people on this and other forum but got no perfect response.
Practically trying many options I by chance put back the old ROM upgrade of O2 2006123-45 and tried switching on the WIFI and lo and behold it worked fine.
Then I reload the new ROM 20060426 again and it works fine.
This proves that if you reload the NEW Upgrade ROM more than once it locks the WIFI.
Wi-fi Shut-off when we do the first activesync.
I tried closing all programs by going to settings => memory => running programs => close all.
After that I did the soft reset and started the process "Start => Settings => Connections => WiFi Utility => Menu => Turn on WiFi.
Menu => Jump to Network Cards 3. Under Wireless, select your desired network. (If your network is hidden, kindly tap on "Add New")
Enter your network name (if needed), proceed to Network Key.
Select your Authentication, Data Encryption type and your Network key.
Proceed to 802.1x if needed (it is usually disabled)
Tap on Ok, go to Network Adapters => O2 Wi-Fi Wireless Adapter
Configure your IP and Name Server if needed. (If your network allows automatic assign, you might want to exclude this portion)
Tap on Ok, Ok. Proceed to WiFi Status, check if the status is Connected and IP Address is obtained.
Kindly try to use Internet Explorer to surf the internet"
and started the Wi-fi but it would not go on it showed Wi-fi off instead of the routine radio off.
When if went to Wi-fi => about. It showed Driver: Wi-fi not enabled, Firmware Version: Wi-fi not enabled, MAC Address: Wi-fi not enabled.
I tried the hard reset also yet the Wi-fi would not turn on.
So I reinstalled latest version 20060426-mot0822 of the Atom and before I did activesync I ran the Wi-fi and it worked well . After the first Activesync the same problem started.
For Activesync I am using the new version 4.5.0, Build 5059, Beta taken from the Microsoft site where it has the facility to keep on the Allow wireless connection on device when connected to the desktop yet the Wi-fi switches off.
There seems to be a problem with you software and your technical department needs to study it deeply and provide a suitable solution for it
Will it be the same if we will to connect to the internet in a hotspot area???
Dude i had the same problem..use the wi fi companion program i got off the net (illegal srry cant post it here)..it has fixed all my wi fi problem.
pocket msn

Wifi doesnt work if you are using the usb port as it will connect to your computer. I guess that is the problem for you?
I have a cingular 8525 branded HTC TyTn and have experienced quite a lot of wifi problems. I don't know if it's me or the device or the software, but I am looking for some other input.
The problem is that if I enable wifi, it does not see any wireless networks. If I hand punch in the SSID it will go ahead and connect just fine. I can use the wireless network and everything appears great for the moment. When I'm done using the wifi and disable it in the comm manager the device still thinks it connected via wifi. IE won't try to connect to gsm automatically, it just says locating and eventually fails. The wifi antenna in the top bar never disappears to goes back to a G. The only way I've found to get it to connect back to gsm is to remove all wifi SSID settings and soft reset.
Another oddity, when I power my device on, wifi is always enabled. Is this normal?
I thought it might just be me, but a co-worker of my just got a cingular 8525 and his does the exact same thing.
Any help or insights anyone can provide would be extremely helpful.

Hi.
Couple of points.
Yes the Wifi remains on unless you turn it off. So when you turn back on it will re-connect.
Regarding your problem re-connecting. Some people seem to find absolutely no problems connecting and others barely manage if at all to connect. There can be many different set-ups routers, settings etc that can be at fault. However in your case when you clear out settings and start afresh all works well. I suspect an issue with renewing the the IP address.
1
So you could try "fixing" the IP address ie removing the DHCP dynamic allocation of the IP.
or
2
You can try "Hitchhiker" which is afreeware application that takes care of a number of background setup issues one of which is automatically re-assigning the IP address. (also allows cutting and pasting the WEP key if you use it - saves a lot of typing).
I use this app with mine whenever connections are sticking. I let Hitchhiker sort things out and then I turn off hitchhiker wich disconnects me, but then I find the normal way of connecting me works fine. Of course you can use Hitchhiker routinely to connect and it does make things easier if your connecting to Hotspots etc.
Hitchhiker is available here as is .net compact framework 2 which is required for it to work. Some people seem to have difficulties with Hitchhiker but it's always worked perfectly for me after a soft reset with my device.

I had a number of connection problems with APs whose encryption was set to WPA/WPA-2 (dual mode WPA) as opposed to WPA or WPA2. Switching the AP to just WPA fixed the problem as WM5 doesn't support WPA2.
Speaking of which: does anyone know if Crossbow has WPA2 support (when it was released for XP it was freakin' huge so I'm not expecting anything here).
As for the WiFi connection being persistent in PIE and other apps even after it's been disabled: check the connection setting for your AP profile (Comm manager>WLAN settings>Menu>Network Cards) see if the 'connects to:' setting is on 'The Internet'.
which software can i use to be able to connect to wifi networks that have a key?
thanks
Windows mobile 6's built in wireless connection configuration allows me to connect to my WPA wifi and I'm sure it also does WEP.
If you mean 'have a key which I do not know' then the answer is - no such software.
Even if we were to condone such illegal activity as hacking WiFi which we do not, the processing power of mobile devices simply isn't enough for such task.
Otherwise you will be automatically prompted for the key by the built in software and you just need to enter it correctly.
Hi!
In my LG E900 I have replaced the circuit with the SIM card reader, and from that moment the wifi and bluetooth stopped working. (wifi/bt module is in that circuit)
When I activated the wifi, the phone can not find network and does the same with the bluetooth.
In MFG Net.Info menu I saw that the mac address is 11:22:33:44:55:66 and IP 0.0.0.0 ....there is some setting / test in MFG menu?
Many thanks!
