Hi there,
I want to share my GPS comport with other Bluetooth Devices (Laptop). Is it possible? I tried it but it seems to be not working. I found a tool on the internet called GPSgate. Nice software but expensive. Possible to get it working without GPSgate?

Hi all I would like to get this application working but it does not look like the test application works on our XDA's?? :-( It is saying somthing about needing the WIDCOMM drivers.... Any idea if there is an esay and safe way to get this utility working?
Hear is the web address of where you can find the application:
http://www.buzzone.net/eng/index.html
Thanks guys
Just install the latest Widcomm PPCPE drivers in "Hacking It"
Thanks for the reply rahjinoh, I will give that a go, I did see somthing about Widcomm drivers but when i looked into that option it seemed very complicated and a number of people where having problems with the XDA II with it would I be correct in saying that?
I'm a little scared to install it if its going to cause me any problems as I use a Bluetooth GPS (with Destinator 3) as well as the O2 Bluetooth headset (The new one, works like a charm)... I use both these bluetooth devices on a daily basis and cant affort them to go down.
Any idea if I will run into any problems if I install this Widcomm driver?
How does it work?
Do I have 2 bluetooth drivers installed then? both MS and Widcomm?
Sorry for all the questions would like to try and find out if it is a simple process or if I could run into problems....
Many thanks!
The Widcomm works with everything EXCEPT headsets.
The GPS would work with Widcomm but not the O2 headset, not yet at least.
Both the stacks will coexists and you can turn on 1 at a time.
I use that stack as well, some people get the "Cannot initialise bluetooth hardware" once in a while, but mine's fine.
I used the Widcomm with Widcomm related software, otherwise, my MS Bluetooth stack is on most of the time.
I use the MS one for my Motorola Headset and Bluetooth GPS, and the Widcomm one for other purposes, like BuzzOne
just remember that you can only enable 1 stack at a time
thanks for the reply rahjinoh
This sounds like a lot of messing around unfortunatly, I wish bluetooth would come up with some starndards and stop stuffing around so much, its going to die in the long run if they don't I recon. I've read that the makers of bluetooth have not stoped any research and devolopment with the technology (Sony/Ericson) this does not seem to be a good step but I don't blame them really as the software side of things is a compleat MESS!!!
Is Microsoft going to be fixing up there drivers? or has the problems been fixed in the Newer Windows 2003 SE Phone Edition? (Which I hope is going to be comming out for our XDA II's some time soon??)...
Cheers!!!
Any more news any one? any ideas what I can do to get my Bluetooth GPS, Head Set and Software Programs to work with ease and no problems?
Still no news??? ANY ONE???
Has any one mannaged to find an easy way to get this program working as yet?
still no news or any ways to get this software working is there? I need a solution that will work with my Bluetooth GPS (and current software, Destinator 3), Bluetooth Headset as well as this program...
Any thoughts any one?
Might want to read this...

Thanks for the reply Nighthawk...
I have seen that post before, but what I am worried about is that I've noticed that people on XDA-Forum has posted that you cannot use your Bluetooth Headset if you don't use the MS Stack? Is this correct?
I use a Bluetooth - GPS, Headset and software... Will I have any problems with these?

Thanks for the reply maani_ch, great advice, only 1 question... If I install these drivers. Do you know if I can still use my Bluetooth GPS with my Bluetooth Heatset at the same time as I do at the moment???
As well as both of them working of course!
CHEERS!
Good question Guest, thats exactualy what I would like to konw, I'm a little scared to install stuff on my XDA now days as in the past I've learned that sometimes things just stop working after installing some applications and it's hard to find out what it is (as it is normaly combinations of things)... As I use it for work it's hard to afford any down time with my phone...
Any answers to the previous questions as to how it would work with Bluetooth GPS and Bluetooth Head set at the same time?
SSA connection is problem...Can any 1 help with a solution?

Hi guys,
This has been something I've been trying for a long time (since I first got my Wizard nad now my hermes), but to no avail.
I've got TomTom 5 and the 3dtracking software from http://www.3dtracking.net/home.aspx, both of which work very well on their own.
However, trying to get them to work together is a nightmare.
I've tried franson GPS gate in the past, but found it very tempremental and I'm loathed to fork out 15 quid to do something that my device should handle anyway.
I've enabled the GPS control panel, no problem whatsoever, chosen the appropriate hardware and software ports in the GPS control panel, set up an outgoing port in the bluetooth settings, told the PPC to manage my connections automatically, told TomTom to use another bluetooth GPS on the appropriate software port and told 3dtracking what software port to use and bob's yer uncle... nothing happens! (Good grief, that's a hellishly constructed sentence! Sorry!)
Anyway, has anyone successfully got this to work?
I've tried a number of combinations of ports etc., and also follwed about the only guide I could find on the net, but nothing seems to work.
Your help would be appreciated!
Adrian
Any thoughts guys?
What version of GpsGate have you tried ?
The product has developed very nicely; I am using GpsGate with 3 applications using the GPS signal at the same time without problems at all.
Martin
Hi Martin,
Thanks for that. I've not used version 3 to be honest, it's something I might give a try in the end.
I'm by no means averse to paying for a piece of software, but it wrankles me somwhat when the device is supposed to do something on its own.
Is there an inherant problem with the control panel function, or something that can be fixed do we think?
Thanks,
Adrian
Hi!
I got the same problem over here.
Trying to use Navigon MobileNavigator 5 and POIObserver via the built in GPS-panel. BT-GPS is a NaviLock BT-338
Thanks

Has anyone managed to get WiFiFoFum to work (without breaking TomTom)?
I can get the WiFi bit of it to work, but not the GPS.
Is it possible to access GPS over bluetooth from a PC? How?

Yes, I run the latest WiFiFoFum on my Athena without a problem. It even picks up the coordinates from the GPS after I setup the Comm port.
Haven't tried it. You would have to setup your Athena to accept BlueTooth connections, then you may have to configure a serial port for your laptop to connect to. Give it a try and let us know how it works.
EDIT: How was TomTom "broken" by the way?
After I installed Wififofum Tomtom seemed unable to get a GPS fix until I removed it. What com port numbers did you use?
How do I link that Bluetooth com ports to the GPS com ports?
I have to run out for the moment but try this.
After you run WiFiFoFum, make sure it's really closed down before you try TomTom. Reinstall it, run it, then to make sure it's off go to Start, Settings, System, Memory and make sure it's not running under the Running Programs tab. WiFiFoFum may be locking down the Comm port denying access to TomTom. Also, make sure you're running WiFiFoFum2...the latest version.
As for setting the comm port, you'll have to research this. I've done it before but don't remember how and have never tried on my Athena. You may want to check the manual or google for the solution. Sorry I wasn't much help in this area.
Now ive looked around this site for a BTPAN fix for my phone. Ive tried a fix for another phone with no luck so what im thinkin is maybe a way to install the widcomm stack on my htc, but i cant find a way. I noticed this is a common problem for my phone. Maybe someone can shed some light on the issue. Thanx.
When you say BTPAN are you simply using to pair with other devices or pc? I have a xv6900 with Verizon (WM6.1) and my pairs just fine with any device..including my LINUX EEE PC which I use for bluetooth dialup.
i can pair my device just fine with headsets or laptops, im talking about a bluetooth personal area network. its kinda like a more consistant pairing. it enables you to use active sync via bluetooth, the main reasons i want it are to use my phone as a modem for my laptop via bt, and to use my phone as a gps reciever for my laptop again via gps. ive noticed all sortsa people are having this problem with the vogue and vista. just the other day i found a solution, i havent posted it yet. http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=39305&page=2 so here it is.
Great Start
I too am searching for a solution.
Hello colleagues...
I gotta a problem with my WM 6.1 (21048) ROM...
now...as I anticipated in the title...bluetooth and data connection (both wifi and 3g) struggle if they work toghether...
obiouvsly when they work alone they work perfectly as they should...
I included the Bluetooth Driver in the SYS and my device is an HTC Blackstone...
Did I make something wrong??
Can anybody help me??
Thanks in advance...
anybody??
The bluetooth software and drivers should be in OEM, if they are elsewhere, they may not install properly

not for blackstone...they are actually in sys...but the problem isn't in drivers I guess...why should wifi/3g struggle against currect functioning of bluetooth if they are both turned on??
BT and 3g??? togheter...what are you trying to use togheter a file transfer and a video call? or internet navigation? or A2dp headset + internet navigation?
