Hi All
Anyone know the name of the databasae on the XDA Exec that stores the 'Speed Dial' numbers. I'm going through a bad patch at the moment where I'm having to do a lot of hard resets...and it's a pain in the aris having to then add back all the speed-dial numbers afterwards
Thanks

If you have WM2003SE or WM2005 on your ppc, you can use this to backup and restore speed dials...

No, but you can find backup applications that can help you for keeping personal data. But I'm not an expert in that stuff.
BTW, I'm working on a SMS backup/restore app, in the same way as PPCBckpContacts, but I don't know yet if it will be a full messaging backup app.
Cheers,

Backup
Thanks Fred
Good luck with the SMS utility. If it's anything like PPCBckpContacts, I think you'll have users beating down your door . The reason for asking my original question was that I liked the simplicity of your program in contrast to many other backup utilities that only seem to cater for 'whole system' backups (with a bit of choice involved in WHAT is backed up).
Thanks for the quick reply...

In fact, I'm rewriting PPCBckpContacts, it will be called PPCPimBackup. Nothing much changes, except that the files will be in unicode (so good for foreign languages which have special characters) and will allow records on multiple lines (especially contacts (ex.: address)). There will be also a mapping fields window like in outlook (see attachment picture) so old backups will still be usable.
And I will add SMS backup first, then maybe the rest if it is not too complicated.
Cheers,
.Fred
Testing testing...
Hi again Fred
If you need an extra pair of hands to test anything - I'd be happy to try any of your stuff out...
The real frustrations for me are:-
- no way to backup speed dials - until you pointed me in a certain direction
- no way to back up SMS and Messaging data simply and quickly

Are there any programs out there that you can set to delete messages that are older than a predefined date? I want to get rid all my old messages but would like to keep those that are newer than a few weeks/month.
If something like this doesn't exist, would someone care to enlighten me on how and where WM6 keeps the metadata/datestamps regarding messages? Thanks.

Now that is a great idea! I would love this. Keep the lag out of text messaging. Unfortunately I don't have any info on how or where it saves the date info but I'll do some poking around.

Anyone else able to shed some light on this?
i've coded an application that can do this but havent finalized it yet
you set the FROM and TO date of the sms that you want to purge and let the app do the rest. if you have thousands (or millions ) then it will take a lot of time though
Awesome. When you finish would you mind sending me a PM?
also would like
Me too!
I've got like 1000+
Its nice to have those for the people you've texted recently so you can get back to the thread quickly but if you have too many its slows down your device considerably
I would absolutely love something like this. Kudos to whoever can make this happen.
not a great program but works just fine for me:

Hi all,
I made a cab from the 2009-12-15 Leo SMS fix (http://www.htc.com/europe/SupportViewNews.aspx?dl_id=812&news_id=407), so this can be installed on other devices with Sense 2.5..
I'm on a sense 2.1 rom currently, so can't test it...So be careful, it might break ur SMS function, test with your own risk and always backup (I guess the new 2.02 package has the update already or even a better fix)..
happy new year!!
George
New SMS Fix Cab added (dated 2010-01-14):

wath exactly it fixes?

yes...what exactly it fixes??
Is this to fix the slow Messaging with Leo Roms ??

i'm not sure what it fixes... but it doesn't seem to fix the annoying slow messaging thingy... I was just coverting the .exe which can only be installed on HD2 to a cab that can be installed on every device..
I have heard that the htc messaging in the 2.02 pack is fast, anyone tried it?
what is your point in creating a thread with a cab entitled "sms fix" and you are
not sure what it does? shouldn't you have tested it first and shared to us what
exactly it can help?
no offense, but i agree with jigners... hopefully the OP has had time to test it by now!

Am I the only one in this thread that uses the actual HTC site? or do people just like to hijack threads and flame people who are doing what they can to help the community... As I remember no one else knew what the Leo Camera Fix did either, but it proved useful, at least for some.

Looks to me like HTC don't really say what the fix "fixes" but THANKS for creating the CAB, i'll have a look and see what it effects if anything. If it's worth it I'll cook it in for my next flash
Okay, have just installed the CAB.
So far no noticable difference when sending / recieving SMS.
I'm using my own custom ROM, using WinMo 6.5 28014, and most of the packages from Leo 1.48.
Thanks again for the CAB anyway.
Hi guys,
be easy, read the link:
"this update delivers just that: fast and reliable SMS messaging."
these files have been updated:
Messaging.dll
Messaging_Client.exe
MessagingClientDll.dll
MessagingNotification.dll
MessagingRes.dll
MessagingService.dll
mms.dll
MsgSettingDll.dll
PushClient.exe
DlgHelper.exe
GetHtcMmsLimitDll.dll
HtcMailAccount.dll
JSRHandler.dll
MessageStore.dll
@Jigners
When the fix first came out, I tried it but it won't install on hd. and now I learned how to create the cab, so I just made it. I need to have my phone switched on all day right now and I'm with a sense 2.1 ROM, so can't test it, but I thought someone with a lower leo build may want to try it...
yes, you are right..sorry for let you down.. I won't do it next time.
@Swarvey&PooPoo
Sorry for wasting your time... thanks for your kind words
also gonna give it a go
still on a energy rom of 23-09 whit m2.51919
will report back later
ps gonna restore over 800 messages to test it to the ultimate
well tested it and it works sort off
i can type directly but the message im replying to isnt shown
so its kinda a fix
hi,
have you tried restoring tons of messages to see if the slowness has been somehow fixed ? Last time I've tried with 2.5 the phone almost got stuck (with about 600 messages)

I sort of think the 2 posts directly above your post answers that question don't they
thanks, I could read those, but I'd like a bit more of an explanation:
you installed the fix and restored tons of sms, what I'd like to know is this:
- adding a contact with a lot of sms history to favourites slows down the phone ?
- opening such contact slows down everything ?
- I understand there is no sms history shown in the manila contact at all ? actually that point isn't very clear to me. where is that the original message is not shown ?
what I'd like to know, if you have got time to explain it to me, is what actually the fix changes, and how fast it makes opening sms history on a contact.
One last minor point is that a big sms history had most sms cut to one or two lines.
Regards
Andy

the whole conversation doesnt load(waited about 3 min)
but i can directly type a reply to the text message whitout a lag

no, the sms fix is only for Leo package lower than 1.49...and the weather fix is for any sense 2.5.. I think 2.1 manila does not need any fix, both sunny animation and sms are working ok in 2.1 manila
Before anyone flames me I know this is in the wrong section, and i'm aware that technically XDA Developers is for HTC only, however i'm hoping someone can help.
I've recently aquired a Sony Ericsson Xperia X2, however it has one really annoying fault. When the phone is in standby and you recieve an SMS you do not get any notifications etc until you wake the phone up. I've read on the forum this is a fault with some other devices caused by the phone not waking on recieved SMS's.
Does anyone know the reg edit I need to perform to make the phone wake up on recieving a text message?
Thanks in advance

Incidentally, most people are happy to help non-HTC users, if they can. You're just better off asking in the general forums, rather than a phone-specific one.
Thanks, this is going to sound off but the key 'DisableSMSWakeUpEvent' isn't present in that directory. Would adding it in solve it?

I'm not sure, to be honest. I just checked my HD2, and it's there with a value of 0 and my phone does wake up when I get an SMS, so give it a go. (I guess you already know this, but you'll need to restart after making the change).

I have searched high and low for a cab file for this app. I got a T-Mobile software upgrade for my TP2. Cool, it was alright, nothing by comparison to NRG's ROM. I did however lose a few apps that were pretty cool: Co-Pilot,Visual Voicemail, etc.
The one that is of importance, though, is the Mobile Backup App. I have checked the threads on here and have ended up with nothing. I DO KNOW this file exists for this format of Windows Mobile. I tried to copy the correct files to my SD Card, but apparently am missing some and don't know what to look for anyway.
So, if somebody out there knows what's up with a cab or exe or files that I could extract from the stock rom, I would appreciate a little "heads up." Thanks in advance for any help.
EDIT: Thanks to SirPhunkee, we have a cab for any T-Mo users that is tested and works perfect on our TP2's. Here's his link to the cab

Did we already have you try this cab? I've handed it to a couple of people recently, can't remember if you were one of them
It's the tmo mobile backup that was extracted from the tmo HD2 ROM, and I think it works on the TP2...too Even if it's looking like it's running ok, make sure you test the sync in both directions (saving to their server and backing up from it) before you rely on it.
I still highly recommend myphone to accomplish the same tasks and more, but this is admittedly a lean solution, so definitely use whichever works best for you
THANK YOU!!

Yes, that HD2 thread is where I found this copy, but I thought it was the same as WarlockW's posted cab (which didn't have as handy as this copy). I suspect that they're not different by phone model, but rather by WM version...but I'm just guessing there

You have to call T-Mobile and get them to set this app up on your "plan." What I mean is, it IS free to add to you payment plan, but you actually have to call customer care and get them to add it, but like I said it's FREE. Don't ask me why, but they just have it set up that way. I had the same problem, and it took like 10 minutes from dialing their number to having the software work. It's apparently a matter of account settings or something that they have to tweak.

ok, this is just a wilda$$ guess...but isn't it desirable in some cases (like to correct MMS pic size issues) to have some agent ID in your registy other than what the phone actually is? Maybe possible that NRG bakes that in? Or, maybe it just only acceps a certain specific range of WM versions?

It's a key somewhere in the registry that indicates what model of phone it is (independent of the IMEI), I believe it's used to identify it to the network for things like what size MMS files the phone can handle, etc...and I'm just surmising this becasue I recall that's where I saw the references to it. So, I would probably suggest looking in any threads related to MMS size issues, you'll probably see someone make a reference to a regedit or cab that makes that change, you can reverse-engineer the rest from there I guess.
I rarely go through any of the forum sections other than the rhodium boards and the Tmo HD2 section, so you can probably confine your search to those places if it helps. I'll keep my eyes open for it too.
Still no luck, sir phunkee. I am hoping that when I flash this newest NRG Rom, maybe I will have some luck, but to be honest, I am kinda tired of flashing his new ROM's cuz, they are "supposedly" faster or better, etc.
We will see, but hopefully someone will have a cab or link that could lead me somewhere.
Josh's Black http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=572938 came with Mobile Back Up, Visual Voicemail, Blockbuster, My Account, and the proper keyboard (after initial startup) cooked into the Rom... great for T-mo users like us... does not have the newer tabs, but I find I don't use those much anyway!
I installed the Full Version...
Now if I could just get rid of the transparent slide and make it stock again? (just for clarification... not slider or icons)
Many Thanks Guys! Been looking for this.
