Hermes to the I-Mate 7150?! - 8525, TyTN, MDA Vario II, JasJam General

I Visa'd a pre-order today for the I-Mate Ultimate 7150,
I'd love to know from Hermes users:
Knowing that we all have varying priorities with these devices,....how would moving to that device strike you?
I've loved the Hermes...one of the best buys for me...ever!
I'd like to make the whole experience better....and, yes, it'l be bigger!
Other than a bit of a concern with the sizo of the device, it truly seems to be a step up on most every front.
(Also, where would that device likely fall in the wiki?).
Thanks

Its nice, i'd considering getting it. Its not really that much bigger than a Hermes and you gain an inch of screen which is nice.
Can you talk on it like a phone or blue tooth only? If they released that ***** with some buttons on the front for dialing and maybe a small LCD for caller id or something I'd pre order right now. If its bluetooth only I'll probably pass.

Screen –
3.8" Primary Touchscreen Display 2.2" OLED Secondary Display
Connectivity –
WiFi 802.11b/g/e/i
Bluetooth v2.0 EDR - up t 1.3 Mbps
Mini USB high speed – 480 Mbps
Direct Video Out XGA
Looks like there is a second screen, for me it will come down to price vs the kaiser, and also seeing more pics of it from different angles

dimension of Prophet LCD?

Can someone tell me the dimensions of the Prophet's LCD screen? I currently have an XDA IIs and to me, this is about the perfect size for a PDA. The Prophet obviously has a smaller screen but maybe I can live with it? My main usage for these devices is PDA 1st, and phone a very distant 2nd.
Or is there another device that I should look at? I've got to have quad band, EDGE and bluetooth. I'd prefer SDIO storage over mini-SD so I won't have to buy new cards, but it's not a deal breaker. A hardware keyboard is not a necessity as I found I hardly use the one on my IIs. Camera quality is not a concern for me either.
THE Prophet measures 108 x 58 x 18,1 mm.
It is a rather small device, but I think it has some next to perfect dimensions. yeah, the screen is rather small at 2,8" but in general it has worked out just flawless for me...
There is owever some issues on clockspeed, the cpu is rather slow, compared to an ordinary PDA, but I have not had any bad experiences yet or experienced any speed issues... but I do not run any navigation software either.
Living in Greenland there is not much need for it
I would definiel give it a "Thumbs up", but your choice should be balanced of against your needs in terms of screen size and processing power, because if you are running a lot of heavy apps and has a need for a larger screen it would not be a perfect match, but as I stated above, it does suit my needs and the size is just perfect as well.
It can actually be worn with a suit without looking bulky.
It sounds like the prophet is perfect for you. I love the size and screen.

Well something next to perfect anyway... for longer business trips and for heavier work, I would not last long without my powerbook though, but guess we are all alike when it comes to that.

Successor to Athena ?

Will the new Advantage come out soon ? My friend thinks that they will release a revision early next year, but I honestly think we have about a half a year left till we see anything.

if the universal is anything to go by it could be a few years and waiting !
The real name for the advantage is the X7500 a few months after it was released an even newer version called the X7501 came out for the US market, and this might be what your friend is thinking of ! however newer is not always better, the X7501 is identical in every way except it has LOST 1 of the 2 cameras from the X7500, gained an FM radio (which might be coming to the X7500 anyway as some reckon the hardware exists but has been disabled) and lastly is shiped with windows mobile 6 instead of 5 which is a moot point as you can now just download Win 6 and upgrade your X7500 anyway.
My speculation rests on any successor primarily being an upgrade having WM6.1 and a SSD hard drive of greater capacity.
I would pray for better video performance as well.

My wish lists are:
- No hardware keyboard. Althernatively, have one that slides out, like the ones in Toshiba Protege G920 or Nokia N810.
- No magnet please.
- Uses SSD and at least 32GB
- Use SDHC rather than miniSDHC. SDHC seems to be always ahead in terms of moving into higher capacity.
- WM7
- Camera that takes acceptable pictures indoor. The present one does not work unless you're outdoor.
- 5 MP main camera and a VGA front camera.
- Less weight.
- Maintains 5" screen but reduce the size of the metal frame around the screen, so overall size is reduced.
- Embedded ear piece, so that use of BT headset becomes entirely optional.
- Vibration for phone
- More rounded and thinner profile.
- Infra, so that I can make it my remote control
- FM radio tuner for TMC and musics.
- Built-in TV tuner
- 800x480 resolution - Not too sure about this one, due to concern over software compatibilty issues. Otherwise, the shape would resember a handphone better.
- Faster internet browser, like the one in Nokia N810
- 802.11n for faster connection
- USB 2.0
- Latest bluetooth.
- GPS Assist, ,so that I can get signal inside buildings and tunnels.
Come on HTC, you should be able to make this.

- No magnet please. I agree
- Uses SSD and at least 32GB Can you say 'Uber Expensive?
- Use SDHC rather than miniSDHC. SDHC seems to be always ahead in terms of moving into higher capacity. Deffo. I really can't see how HTC is saving that much space by using miniSDHC
- WM7 Yay!!!
- Camera that takes acceptable pictures indoor. The present one does not work unless you're outdoor. Agree 100% .. for something that's being marketed as an 'All in one device' the camer really sucks
- 5 MP main camera and a VGA front camera.
- Less weight. If possible, but considering the extra features everyone wants etc??
- Maintains 5" screen but reduce the size of the metal frame around the screen, so overall size is reduced.
- Embedded ear piece, so that use of BT headset becomes entirely optional.
- Vibration for phone You have no idea how much I miss a vibrating alert on my phone now lol
- More rounded and thinner profile. The shape of the Athen wors really well, provided you use the stock keyboard, otherwise it feels really weird to hold, so yeah, I'd agree
- Infra, so that I can make it my remote controlThis should have been in our current devices, sure, it may be old tech, but there are still so many uses for it
- FM radio tuner for TMC and musics.Aye
- Built-in TV tuner AYE!!!
- 800x480 resolution - Not too sure about this one, due to concern over software compatibilty issues. Otherwise, the shape would resember a handphone better. Provided there weren't any issues, then yes, however I'm quite happy with VGA
- Faster internet browser, like the one in Nokia N810 Yup, although I think we'll have to rely on 3rd party for this
- 802.11n for faster connection Yup
- USB 2.0 Yup, with support for a wider range of external HDDs
- Latest bluetooth. Not a big user of BT, so I cant comment
- GPS Assist, ,so that I can get signal inside buildings and tunnels. I think GPS signal on this device sucks all over, anything to improve it would be great
Come on HTC, you should be able to make this.

Just my opinion
total agreement from me with regards to the slide out keyboard. i have seen a device for the pc that projects the display of a keyboard onto what ever you place the device onto, sort of like a laser projection, that would be sweet but your battery would die after one text message or email!!
The size has always been an issue for me, but we knew that it was a monster/powerhouse/umpc/ugly brick shaped phone when we purchased the athena/ameo!!!
as for the camera, dudes, if you have money to throw around at the advanced phones...... buy a digi cam. C'mon, its a phone! Having said all this, im gonna confuse you all by saying, i want the new htc sprint with vista/touchflo. hehehe
I mentioned this in some other thread, but, here it goes again

The ATHENA wish list
Dear HTC,
1) Give us the capability to use our ATHENA WITHOUT speakerphone always ON, we want to put it close to the ear, you know BT is a technology always in BETA testing!
2) Turn the RADIO feature ON (we know it has the hardware capability)
3) FIX the REALVGA issues, give us the power to run programs at different DPI resolution, we know, REALVGA comes from you!
You, dear HTC, have lost the first place in Windows Mobile standard market, improve or die is the lesson, we love your devices, but... 9150 is coming

X1 vs Touch Pro

Think there are a lot of people out there who have been considering between the 2, and with Touch Pro out (it just released over the weekend here in Singapore) and X1 still yet to have a 100% confirmed released date (still wondering if October's a confirmed date, and even then, whether as the case of Touch Pro, it'd be released even later here), a lot of people have been getting the Touch Pro instead. I myself am really tempted to do so too, but there's still that little bit that's holding me back to get the X1. Thing is there's so many points about the Touch Pro that seemingly give it an edge over the X1.
X1:
* WVGA (this a pro or a con?)
* Larger screen (but 'non standard' screen size that might cause some apps to not work)
* 4 row and supposedly crappier keypad (though good in that the keys are more spaced out)
* 3.5mm audio jack (which doesn't matter to me)
* Better video playback (or am I wrong)
* Slightly thinner and lighter
* Higher capacity battery (1500 vs 1340 mAh for Touch Pro)
* Metal casing
* Possibility of SE splitting (meaning loss in support?)
Touch Pro
* VGA
* 'Standard' screen size that 3rd party apps are built for
* 5 row and supposedly better keypad
* TV out (doesn't quite matter to me either)
* Accelerometer (till now no confirmation whether X1 has)
* Higher RAM (288 vs 256MB in X1)
* Slightly smaller
* Plastic casing
* Larger support community (whether X1 will have one remains to be seen)
GSMArena Comparison
Smape Comparison
Correct me if I've got any point wrong. Lookswise I used to think the X1 looked better, but until lately was starting to feel it looked worse and worse, though most recent videos kinda made me change my mind again (ya... I am just so fickle-minded)
Anyway, what do you all think? Don't wish to be getting the Touch Pro and regret not waiting for the X1 to be out to do an actual comparison. Or is there anyone who has tried both (probably test set of X1) and able to comment on points like the keypad and running of 3rd party apps?
Btw, reason I'm posting this here rather than in other forums that I visit is cos there seem to be more people here with test units and so was hoping to get more opinions here.
Hmmm a good post! Couple of things I would like to say...
You say:
* Possibility of SE splitting (meaning loss in support?)
I have not heard this, would you or anyone like to expand on this?
* Higher RAM (288 vs 256MB in X1)
From what I can gather from other threads this could just be the way HTC has tried to make it look like the Touch Pro has more memory by including 32MB of memory from somewhere else in the device.
* Larger support community (whether X1 will have one remains to be seen)
Like you said I think we will have to wait on this one, the only reason the Touch Pro has more support is because it is actually out now! Any phone that is on this website has MASSIVE community support, which is one of the main reasons this is one of the best websites I know for phones, and is one of the main reasons i will (mostly) always choose a HTC built device!
One thing that annoys me is that a company will give a release date for a phone but the phone wont be available to the average joe, like me,(by that I mean someone who doesnt want to pay nearly half a months wages for a phone i.e. £500+) for perhaps 1-2 months after its stated release date!
As you can tell I want either phone, im just waiting till they com out on the major UK networks so I can:
a) get them for a reasonable price, if not free
b) actually play with them before I choose which one to get!
I am sacraficing a 5MP camera for a QWERTY keyboard as I use the internet on my phone a lot. Therefore I am leaning towards the Xperia X1 as it has a larger screen.
Any help would be appreciated in this matter
Great post. Hope it gets the response it deserves, cos im in exactly the same predicament.
One thing i keep reading, is that the X1 is the best choice for multimedia.
I dont exactly see what is meant by that, looking at both spec sheets, except for the bigger screen res.
I am led to believe that the SE media player app is not yet present on the X1.
Anyone with a proto, please step up to the keyboard! your input is needed.
The few people i have identified as having X1 protos, seem to be very reserved about what they give away.
This is probably to do with the SE police.
Heres hoping that the SE webcast scheduled for 15th Sept will be the release info for X1, and all info can then be talked about openly.
My preference would be X1, but i would have no problem owning a touch pro.

Sony CEO considering dumping Ericsson for sucking so much at mobile phone business lately
Sony Ericsson Xperia X1 will be the last Windws Mobile phone from Sony Ericsson
Anyway, what makes me even more in a rush to decide between the X1 and Touch Pro is cos the Touch Pro is out with a promotional (2-year) contract price of SGD788 (approximately USD548) till this coming Friday. Actual price is supposedly SGD988 (approximately USD688).
X1 for me
The pro is a great increment over the TyTNII ...
But as most people probably experience ... VGA is really only a prettifier over QVGA ... it doesn't give you much real extra screen estate (if any) with most apps.
WVGA on the other hand makes a tremendous difference (from web browsing to today screen to Softmaker Office to CoPilot).
I tried it for the first time with the G900 and all my apps worked and all but one filled the screen properly ....
The X1 screen should therefore be a dramatic improvement on the Pro.
Also ... the Camera and Radio are SE parts ... not HTC and as such will be like most SE phones. This means the camera will perform more like decent SE devices and video at 30fps should be like the N95 ... which means I can get away with one phone at long last.
The N95 radio was rubbish ... this should be a good one.
Those things alone should make this standout a lot from the Pro.
I like to add the
x1
optical joystick for scrolling
touch screen focus
vga video recording
Touch Pro
navigation wheel
the touch sensitive button for focus doesn't even work half the time
While they both have qwerty, I didn't like how each roll of keys directly line up above the next row on the Touch Pro vs the its offset by half a key on the next row on the Xperia. And there is no gaps/spacing between the keys on the htc either.
In the end I only got the Touch Pro because it was out first and I know HTC does Windows Mobile for a living while I was concerned it might have been a one time thing for SE.
Interesting Ipporek, I was unaware of this! Which leads me onto htcplussony's comment abut the X1 being a one time thing, whereas HTC have been churning out WinMo devices for years and hopefully will continue to do so.
I do like the TouchFlo3D of the Touch Pro, is it likely to be 'ported' over to the X1 and if it is, will it fit nicely with the larger screen/resolution, and will it run fine or crash/make the system slower!? Only time will tell with that one i suppose.
Also: not only has the X1 battery a higher capacity, it's a Li-Po battery (whereas the Pro has a Li-Ion battery). Li-Po batteries can hold much more energy. Keeping that in mind, the battery should last much longer on an X1 than on a Pro.
I also firmly believe the X1 will be much more innovative. HTC has already established its position in the pda-phone market, whereas this is SE's first step towards a more business market. They have the neccessary expertise to be able to pull it off however, and I have no doubt that they have not left anything that could be improved untouched. Not only does SE have to innovate and come with new and interesting approaches, HTC hardly can innovate. They have already established their reputation, and they can not drastically change their course or they would lose a lot of users. As an example, we see the Xperia panel interface, it's a whole new approach taken, and I'm quite confident there will be a lot more different little innovations inside.
Ultimately for me it's 2 major concerns (which I mentioned earlier):
1. Is the keyboard of the X1 really as bad as it's being said to be? Unless the production set actually has some improvement in this area over the test sets, it might be a big issue (or at least for me).
2. Will there be a lot of apps that do not work with the X1 cos of the size/resolution incompatibility?
Lack of TV out and accelerometer I can live with. The 1 row less of keys that I can live with too (though till now I do kinda find the combination of a black casing and silver keypad weird). And the bigger size doesn't quite bother me (since it's only by a little and the X1 is thinner and lighter). Support community, ya, there's always the possibility that it'll grow. But the 2 points I mentioned above I can't quite ignore though.
Well, perhaps might be able to get the answer to one of my questions myself. Saw someone's post in another forum and realized that the Omnia too has a 'non-standard' resolution. In fact, it's proportionate to X1's (half in fact).
Samsung i900 Omnia - 400 x 240 pixels, 3.2 inches
Sony Ericsson XPERIA X1 - 800 x 480 pixels, 3.0 inches
LG KS20 - 320 x 240 pixels, 2.8 inches
HTC Touch Pro - 640 x 480 pixels, 2.8 inches
HTC Touch Diamond - 640 x 480 pixels, 2.8 inches
HTC Touch Cruise - 320 x 240 pixels, 2.8 inches
HTC Touch Dual - 320 x 240 pixels, 2.6 inches
HTC Touch - 320 x 240 pixels, 2.8 inches
HTC TyTN II - 320 x 240 pixels, 2.8 inches
i-mate Ultimate 9502 - 640 x 480 pixels, 2.8 inches
i-mate Ultimate 8502 - 320 x 240 pixels, 2.6 inches
Palm Treo Pro - 320 x 320 pixels, 2.5 inches
Other phones all seem to have either the standard 640x480 or 320x240 pixels resolution (well, except for the Treo Pro).
So would that mean that if an application can run properly on Omnia, it can run on the X1 too?
After seeing the website for the upcoming webcast and this Johnny X trailer, I can't help but feel that X1's more of a mass audience, entertainment-oriented phone as compared to Touch Pro which would be more of a business-oriented phone targetted more towards the more tech-savvy crowd.
I really wonder why nobody cares about reception / signal strength. For me it's quite the key-feature of a phone and the 3G reception of the Touch Pro is not very good.
I really would like to know if the X1 reception is better, because I use a lot of data transfers so it's essential for me.
I'm not quite sure if the Touch Pro can be really considered as a business devices because of reception problems.
Well, with the X1's release date being announced, it's making me wondering even more whether to hold back (on getting the Touch Pro).
HW Accelerated ?
Does someone know if X1 has 3D Hardware acceleration ?
So much uncertainties about the X1's specs eventhough it's near release. 3D hardware acceleration, accelerometer...
3D hardware acceleration is stated in the white paper..
Sep 30 it is. But where is Hong Kong.
X1 reception likely better than Touch Pro

The main reason for this is that HTC Touch Pro is Dual Band 900/2100 UMTS/HSDPA. The HTC TyTN II was Tri-Band 900/1900/2100. The Xperia will have similar reception to the TyTN II, definitely much much better than Touch Pro.

I hope you're right. Skipped the Touch Pro because of weak 3G signal, but now it's really time for a new toy, so hopefully the reception of the X1 will be good.
For me it will be all about the support that this site gives the X1 to be honest because you can have the best phone in the world but without them custom programs / roms you will soon get bored with it, trust me

32GB, X7510 replacement early 2009?

Some recent unconnected bits of information on the web have got me thinking that sooner or later there will be another iteration of the Athena series, an x7520 if you will.
First, on Engadget/Engadgetmobile, there was the blog on
How would you change HTC's Advantage X7510?
http://www.engadget.com/2008/08/08/how-would-you-change-htcs-advantage-x7510/
Then there are the regular posts about new HTC projects with new code names, for instance, HTC QUAR100:
http://www.engadgetmobile.com/2008/09/08/the-htc-quar100-a-north-american-exclusive/
Then finally, even though it hasn't been announced, Samsung is now making 1.0 inch form factor SSD's, and they are not sata, but pata devices (like the 1.0 microdrives). The largest is 32gb, which trumps the x7510's 16gb:
http://www.samsung.com/global/business/semiconductor/productList.do?fmly_id=161
http://www.samsung.com/global/business/semiconductor/productInfo.do?fmly_id=161&partnum=MCCOE32GZMPP
I'd wager that a successor will be announced around the CES show next year.
All I can say, is that it better have great video performance and the joystick back.
What do you think?
What do I think ???
I don't think there would be any replacement for the HTC Advantage. Why? It is not selling well because of their stupid decision to remove the buttons and joy stick control. Not to mention, the only thing they changed is the keyboard and flash memory. No provider wants to carry it. The only phone operator I read offering the X7510 is TMobile Germany. Even at the country of it's origin, it barely made news when released. The only thing that will save the X7510 at this point is if HTC gave it to phone operators at a very cheap price. Which I suggest they should do now rather than let it sit in their storage due to better models coming out with better specs.
I am sorry to admit this... but I think this is the end for our babies with 5 inch screens. Which I hope won't be the case. I believe a better move on their part is to update the HTC Universal.
I think you have some valid points.
Many of the comments on 'How you would change the x7510' on the Engadget thread mentioned lack of joystick and OK buttons. Major mistake on HTC's parts.
So really there are three options:
HTC abandons the format
HTC introduces one more model with 32GB SSD, joystick or not.
HTC introduces a similar form factor, but totally new design.
I believe that they will at least do the 32GB option, as they don't have to change any hardware.
I would prefer the following changes atleast.
1. More slimmer device.
2. Change the old PXA270 processor to PXA310.
3. Newer phones come with 256MB RAM and 512MB ROM.
Hopefully they will change those too in the new model.
4. Windows Mobile 7
6. Support 800*480 Resolution.
--Srini
Heres what I would improve:
1. Remove the buttons on the face, and make the screen larger (stretch in to the corners of the device. Put the removed buttons on the sides or top of the device.
2. Higher res screen 800x480 ?
3. Larger microdrive, 64GB atleast.
4. Full size SD-card lot, maybe even two.
5. Make the device slimmer.
6. Slide out keyboard (portrait).
7. Newer generation and faster CPU (800MHz ?) / GPU (NVidia ?) combo.
8. 300MB RAM (atleast)
9. 512MB ROM (atleast)
10. Better camera with atleast VGA @ 30 FPS recording.
11. Make a docking station for the device in portrait. With the headphone out and USB host in front and the rest on the back. Dont forget support to charge a second battery.
So what do you guys think ?
1. Put vibrate back in.
2. Change screen aspect ratio from 4:3 to 16:9 (would make it easier to hold like a phone and would give us full-page-width browsing, video)
3. Give us a private speaker so we don't have to carry BT all the time.
4. Put the buttons and joystick back.
5. Include chipset for WiMax.
Yeah what he said plus what I said makes it the almost perfect PDA.
there is something in the works that i know of but i dont know if u would consider this a athena successor. cant give details though.

nope. not any one of those. these devices the public doesnt know about.
Well then thats something to look forward to.
Nope the magic words "screen isn't as big" and I loose all interest.
The biggest appeal to me for the Athena is the 5 inch screen.
I would however like it slimmer and a full size sd slot.
With the joystick back, a slimmer unit and a full size sd slot it would be near the perfect device for me.
I don't think HTC will simply abandon Athena form factor. For one thing it looks that MIDs (Mobile Internet Devices) will be a popular thing next year and for me Athena is a true MID and for now the best MID.
So what I'm hoping for is that HTC will come up with a new MID device sometime in 2009, that could be a successor to Athena, hopefully with WM7 (I have a silly idea that WM7 will be released together with Win7 sometime in June/July) and with 5" WVGA screen, new faster CPU and more storage...

Pawel,
I know Blackstone is not quite a replacement for the 5 inch screen, but it has FM radio, and faster HSDPA speed. I'm quite keen to go for this. However, if there is something better in the pipeline, I might wait.
I like Blackstone's form factor, but was disappointed with its mere 3.8 inch screen. Of course there are also other disappointments such as the lack of joystick, tv-out, small built-in storage, but the biggest disappointment is the small size.
I hope the replacement model that you have been told retains the 5 inch screen, latest HSDPA, wimax, have embedded earpiece, and similar form factor as blackstone (ie slim and light). Am I likely to be disappointed?

What about the HTC 8290? If the specs are correct, it's like the Touch HD, except it's got WiMax and TV-out. The lack of TV-out on the Touch HD is a big disappointment to me. I would have bought the HD instantaneously had it had this feature. If the 8290 does have it, and has both WiMax and HSPA, it seems very attractive to me.
Regarding the Advantage, I believe they will keep the form factor because as stated above, MIDs are coming and the Advantage really is pocketable and light enough compared to many other MID offerings. If I were HTC I'd wait for WM 7, and probably use the Tegra APX2500 processor.

Pawel,
Thanks for your info. I guess I would go for Blackstone as an interim device while waiting for the ultimate Athena replacement. I thought I could live with a 4 inch (and 3.8 inch is close to that) screen, but after making up a prototype and played with it, I don't think the screen is big enough yet. May be 4.5 at the very minimum. I had played with the iPhone and just don't like the small screen. Too much zooming in and out when surfing the net and that drives me nut after a while.
Sigh... May be Athena as it is now is still the best, even when compared to Blackstone.

yea, i dont mind the 3.8in screen. i have the iphone 3g and have gotten used to the zooming bc of the multitouch. afaik, there isnt anything with a screen bigger than that of the blackstones coming out anytime soon unless theres something in the works that i dont know about.

HD2 or B7610

Bottom line is I'm stuck between choosing between these two great devices.
B7610
Advantages
- Affordable
- Great keyboard (although the sensitivity of the HD2's display eliminates the need for this)
- Feature packed camera
- Internal storage
Disadvantages
- Chunky build
- Not capable of running WM7 due to capacitive display absence possibly making the device obsolete
- Slow/Old generation processor with significantly slower GPU
- Slow bulky ROM
- Reserved memory leaving only 140mb accessible
- Very soft digitizer prone to scratches
HD2
Advantages
- New gen 1GHz processor with fast GPU
- WM7 capability
- Large Multitouch display
- Fast ROM with decent support and Developer support
- Lots of RAM
- Slim solid metal build
- WiFi Draft-N capability
Disadvantages
- High price point
- No TV-Out (very disappointing for a multimedia device)
- camera quality is a little worse than Omnia's but I hate the fact that there is no 720p capability whereas the Omnia does
- No USB hosting? (Omnia probably doesn't have this either but I may be wrong for the HD2 so please confirm whether it has it as it would be useful for the Zeno USB packages)
- Less format support built in.
I'm really leaning toward the HD2 because of the amount of support it gets but I really don't like the idea of it being 720p incapable and that the Omnia family have better cameras and media support. I want to make the right decision because to be perfectly honest, $800 is quite a lot to shell out on a mobile device and I want it to be a quality purchase.
i was having this issue too 3 months ago, i wanted b7610 befor reading anithing about leo, but because leo came first(by the way b7610 is still nowhere to find here even today), i switched teams, and i don't regret making this decision. i like this breed , and by the way its much much more than b7610
Hi! thanks for the quick reply. I can get the B7610 off eBay no problem and it's significantly cheaper too. The Tv-out and all that are not bothering me too badly, it's the camera thats really pissing me off. I mean why is it that HTC are making such a high end media device and cram a crappy camera into it that can't even capture or play 720p. I've heard a lot of people complaining about it also with the dodgy pink dot? What is going on HTC?? Please prove me wrong, I still have a sweet spot for the HD's design. If you can find a patch that can fix these, like maybe the Omnia's camera app for it that will allow 720x480 recording, I'll jump straight for the HD2 no questions asked.
