Welcome to XDA
To find your answers use the sticky Search XDA_Developers using Google post near the top of the messages list.
So for example if you enter HSDPA Hermes the list of results will include one on how to test if you are using HSDPA - I know cos I just checked!!

Also when looking on the net for details of the Orange SPV M3100 i see several screen shots..And on the displays sometimes a screen shot will show UMTS Orange and others as 3G orange ( mine ) Any difference ?

Hi Darren,
Currently Orange don't do HSDPA in the UK so the best you'll get is 384kb/s.
I've not done much to my M3100. If you get get HTweakC it will do all the registy modifications you need. It's here: http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=Hermes_Registry

I have seen the magic H on my Hermes and also proved this by download speed. (southeast London out to Dartford)

You are the first person i know to state you have seen th magic H on there machine.. Are you using a standard SPV M3100 ?

I live in London and *was* running WM6 on my M3100... I got the H pretty much all over west London.
I listen to internet radio over 3g when I'm walking around and it works good for the most part.

Consider yourself STUNG! Everything you pretty much need to know is concisely contained in the WIKI (link in my sig).
I would also strongly recommend the Black theme and dailpad done by ZombieNexus. Goes beautifully with the M3100. Here you go http://www.wam77.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk/wm6_black_3g_dialpad.cab
I suggest trying the WM6 version in my sig or a variant. (Custel 2.5 also uses same kernel).
SPB MobileShell seems to run ok with this ROM so give that a look as well as it's one of those killer apps.

ok lots of information on here about upgrading my SPV M3100 to WM6.
Would anybody know if Orange will be doing there own update for a SPV M3100 to WM6...I know Orange have 1 device at the moment with WM6, but i see that as a basic device..

Would be good if people learned that its not possible to measure performance just based on megahertz.
Dual processing , greater battery performance . Benchmarked already to perform better than the Magician . WM2005 helps out a lot here too , it's a design thing and the developers have listened . Battery technology is not moving as fast as chipset technology so enhance the processor and the operating system to compensate. Makes sence to me .
If your not convinced, then wait , I'm sure there will be loads of reviews coming up soon.

unfortunately the club I-Mate site won't let you download the manuals/view the faq unless you have a k-jam registered. So even the folks who have access to the site, but do not have a k-jam registered can't get to the information.

O2 are really starting to disappoint me with their tardiness. and I work for them.
It has been confirmed as on its way but with no ETA. I hope it has radio rom .9 and the more responsive os build

Today they emailed me a "change" in their terms and conditions, and linked to a lengthy Ts&Cs page. Trouble is, they don't highlight what has changed and I have no patience to re-read the entire thing.
Same here, new contract, don't you hate it when they do that, I always feel like they are trying to hide something by sending the entire contract without pointing out exactly what has been added or changed! Perhaps it's just paranoia on my part <twitch>
I am hoping that the wait for the new O2 rom will mean we will all be pleasantly suprised at it's content, but don't hold your breath. I can just see it now on XDA Developers when it is released... "Why did we have to wait so long for this new ROM, it's crap!"

There is a new build currently in test, based on the 1.30 ROM and 1.09 Radio stack. It will be without A2DP functionality.

Same here! I have emailed them asking for details of what has changed, but don't hold up much hope of a useful answer.

when will it be out? i read on ppcsg.com that the latest rom will be out in 2-3 wks time....
i have a wifi problem with atom....hope the new rom will solve it...

Pretty good, screen switching is faster than O2, phone signal seems pretty stable. Can't comment on the memory leak issues, because I'm not sure when the memory is being used for cache or when it is really leaked.
WiFi network finder has some nice changes, LIST of available networks now shows signal strength too, and alarms now have a "dismiss until 5 mins before event" thing - neat!

So are you saying O2 is not going to release an update with A2DP support?
if they dont and there are a number of us on the forum with mails from O2 to the contrary then we can roast them for misleading us.

I was really happy to recieve my qtek s200 about a month ago.
I don't wan't to ***** and complain a whole lot about the s200, as it generally is a nice phone and overall good improvement over my previous qtek 2020 from some years ago. A few minor querks could be the low volume and placement of the power on/off button, but nothing I can't live with.
This post, however, is just to hear if anyone else feels, as I do, disappointed due to the fact that you are not able to change the roms, as easily, as you might have come to expect from HTC devices.
Come on! I buy a WM5 device for well over £350, and then I DO EXPECT that things will run smoothly, including rom upgrades. But, no! I for one am really dissappointed. I cannot flash any roms, that are available, outside those "soon to be comming" from the place I purchased. I am still waitning.
I-mate seems, however, to support their customers well, but qtek will not even recognise my IMIE number from the reseller where I bought my phone.
So now I have the option to either wait or pay extra to get a danish rom on my qtek s200! What will they think of next?! I can only say that I am beginning to loose faith in qtek and HTC for that matter.
Please prove me wrong :roll:

You bought a Qtek! What did you expect? Didn't you do any research before purchase? We *always* have had to jump through vendor id hoops with HTC devices to load different vendor roms, just because someone writes a tool to get around this easily doesn't mean it actually is easy! and Qtek are *well known* for their lack of support - it's a reason often given why their devices are cheaper to purchase than i-mate. Moan about Qtek, not about HTC - they didn't make you buy a Qtek product.....and in future buy an i-mate, or JAFWM to load roms more easily or search for the leaked roms when they become available from Qtek.

Thanks for you post. I do see your point... I guess a more correct title for this topic could have been:
IMHO HTC messed up the qtek s200 -> IMHO QTEK messed up the prophet!
I do however, compared to my previously good experience with the qtek 2020, feel that HTC still made the device... so as to allow QTEK to lock it "more" from the other brand names i.e. i-mate, jafwm etc.
I do agree, I should have read more on the Qtek s200 before buying and xda-dev does a good job informing and all, yet it is difficult for anyone (especially a nob) to find just the right post... telling you NOT TO BUY the QTEK S200, if you hope for good support on a prophet.
Living in Denmark, I actually believe that Dangaard Data (qtek distributer) does give good support, just not on qtek's purchased abroad. I have learned from my mistakes, and still would say, IF EVER, I was to buy another WM5 device, I will only buy from a shop in Denmark... we also get 2 years service, which don't think you get abroad as a standard.
Anyway, you could be right about qtek on the average. I just whish I had purchased mine 1) either in Denmark og 2) NOT AT ALL.
Back to my Nokia 9500 for now.

I don't get it. Why do you want to change ROMs all the time? -- And why would that be such a strong determining factor in you choosing not to use the device, especially since, as you say, it's actually an improvement over your 2020?
Personally, I'm waiting patiently for the next official S200 ROM update from Qtek. I love my S200!

I bought my from a mobile phone shop in Penang. If you source around here, you should be able to get an even better bargain. My friend got his at RM4050.
I got mine for my friend without contract at 9500HKD (About 1200USD)

Thanks for the input. Do we know if Dopod will issue a WM6 upgrade to its early adopters or will the U1000 be yet another device that gets stuck with the OS version that it is delivered with?
In HTC/Dopod's history and attitude towards its loyal early adaptor....
It is very likely we need to get WM6 via unoffical channel. (Like Hermes)
Especially, the model# change from 7500/ 7501...
