GPS very slow/no fix after upgrade *FIX* - P3300, MDA Compact III upgrading etc.

Hi,
I happened to get a MDA conpact III (T-Mobile/dutch/1.12). I flashed the device with the latest dopod version (1.25).
After the flash, everything worked Ok, except the GPS. It took allmost 8-10 minutes before a first fix.
After some flashing, it seems the device had to be flashed with the UK version of T-mobile (1.13) before flashing with the dopod version (1.25).
Everything worked Ok now and I have a fix within seconds.
Maybe this will work for those with the same problem.
regards,
Raymond

go to "setting", find "GPS" in "system", then try to change your GPS setting at port com9, baud 9600.

Help - XDAII with an SD-502 GPS receiver

I recently bought an SD-502 receiver for my XDAII and have no end of trouble since. I was hesitant to buy it given the compatibility problems but latest compatibility lists say that it has been tested and works. Long story short, COM 7: which is supposed to be assigned to GPSUART as per GPS PPC websites is absent and I cannot find any way to add it. I have upgrade from WM2003 1.60 to 1.72 and there was no change.
Further to this, I have downloaded the WM2005 upgrade in the hope that It would recognize the device but now I can't load any version of WM withouth the Himaupgrad.exe saying that there was 'a problem during upgrade'.
Thanks to anyone who chooses to help.
Can you be more specific about this 'problem during upgrade'?
That's what Himaupgrad.exe calls it... verifies the ID of the pda and then you click yes to upgrade and it goes to the screen where it clears the current rom and loads the 3 new ones and instead of doing that, after about 30 secs it just says there was a problem during upgrade and says to soft start the pda, which I have tried with no success. I have tried many combinations of Radio, Ex Rom and Rom without luck. I have even tried the original upgrade package that is already on there which I downloaded from the UK o2 site and that gives the same error. So I figure it is something to do with the PDA not the upgrades.
Again, any help is much appreciated!
Thanks jamil

Problem Dopod D810 & Orange France network

Hi,
I have bought a Dopod D810 in South-East Asia some time ago. Everything was fine, but I haven't managed to get the GPRS/3G data connection working since I am back in France (it also takes a lot of time after start up of the phone to detect the Orange network, but finally it manages to find it)
When I try to connect to the internet, I always get the message: "The answering modem has disconnected" or in french: "le modem destinataire a ete deconnecte".
I checked my settings many times (also with Orange), and also tried with the automatic network configuration tools, but don't manage to make it work.
I also tried to change my Audio ROM's (1.46.00.11 to currently 1.50.08.11), as well as OS ROM's (Official Dopod ROM, french FAMAN v4.03 Rom, currently Ausdim v4.0 ROM), also without success.
Anyone encountered similar problems ? Or someone has an idea what might be going on ?
All help is very much appreciated.

network stuck on searching....

I have updaraded successfully to 6.11 and all seems fine except I cant get the phone to detect a carrier.
I searched the forum and saw ideas like installing 2003 and then WM6 but this didnt work.
Has anyone found a way of sorting out the band selection without having to wipe my WM6 installation?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Check in phone settings, if correct band is selected for your operator in your area (personally I would recommend AUTO).
Thanks but I can't actually get to the phone settings - each time i try it says the phone is not ready and wait 15 seconds - I have waited forever and it never stops searching - eventually it just says no service.
Sorted it - install WM2003, unlocked SIM - upgraded to Radio 1.5 and WM6.11 cold boot, did not clear registry hive and it works fine now.
WOW, that's odd. might be useful for others.

problem with radio, help

pls help me. I have MDA II, WM6, radio 1.17. T-mobile. When I go to place without signal, MDA starts to search for it of course. But after when I go to place with good signal, it continues with searching, can not to connect to GSM signal. I must manualy turn of and turn on the radio, or perform soft reset. I performed several times hard reset, I returned do WM5, I tried radio 1.08, 1.17, 1.19. Problem still persist - for 6 months. I´m often in places without signal, so it is a big problem for me. is it hardware problem? Thank you. Peter
Try radio 1.08
I try all of them the only one that works well on my hima is 1.8
you are using 6.1 19209 build right?

GSM Problems

Hi everyone !
I'm new here (in the Hermes forums). I have a prophet, but now I bought a Hermes.
The guy who originally owned (the phone is used) told me that when he flashed it, he had this problem that I'm going to tell you now, so I really don't know what could had happened to him during the flashing process.
The problem I have is that the Hermes works very well, the Wifi, bluetooth, card reader, everything EXCEPT the PHONE, let's say, the GSM interface.
When I turn it on, everything works well, (I DON'T SEE THE 'NO GSM' THING), and I have the antenna icon with the exclamation mark (!) next to it. When I go into there, in the phone configuration, if I try to select a network manually, after a few seconds it says that it can't retrieve the list of networks, that I have to try later. If I go to the band configuration, and I put it to use only gsm, for example, after a few seconds it says that it can't change the configuration, that I have to try later.
I tryed with different sims, of different companies.
When I bought the phone, it had a spanish Schap's 3.54b, and the Olipro 2.30 spl.
I tryed hard resetting, but nothing. I flashed the original shipped rom WM6.1 WWE, downloaded from here, and nothing. NOTE: I had to flash with the sd method because if I try to do it with the computer, I have the 260 error (or 262 i dont remember).
I changed the HARDSPL to theOlipro 2.10, hard reseted again, and still de same thing.
The IPL is 1.04.
NOTE: When I flashed the WWE rom, I flashed the .nbf file inside, but the SPL.nbf I didn't flashed.
What can I do? ANY SUGGESTIONS ?
I read a lot of things in the forums and in the wiki, but nothing. I've just finished downloading the Schaps WM6 4.31, now i will try to flash it with the sd thing.
Also, I have the protocol 32.80.7020.20H. I've read it somewhere but I don't remember what the protocol is. I HAVEN'T CHANGED THIS since I bought it, could that be my problem?
Currently, I have this (before flashing Schaps):
-Device Information:
ROM: 3.54.255.3
ROM DATE: 07/05/07
Radio Version: 1.47.00.10
Protocol: 32.80.7020.20H
ExtROM: 3.54.255.104
-In the bootloader:
IPL-1.04
SPL-2.10.Olipro
Maybe the antenna is no good...
1st thing I'd try though is to flash a new radio on (use sd card method). Worst that can happen is "No GSM" but as you can't use it anyway theres no harm in trying...
Check what radio rom you have 1st though so you can flash back if need be.
If you can get a "broken" Hermes (same model is best) then you can replace parts and see if that helps. I did this and found one of the parts that was causing a problem with my jasjam was the flywheel.
Do a search for the HTC service manual or go to Mike Channons web site to get heaps of manuals and tutorials...
Cheers...
The phone is near new, let's say, it was used for less than a month, he had it a week or two and then flashed it and had that problem, so I don't think that it's and antenna problem, and if it hadn't antenna, it has some signal of some kind.
Any other ideas?
I changed the radio when i Flashed the WWE version. I'm now downloading this one http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=298520
Any suggestions? is there any problem using the AKU 3 or something?
Thanks =)
Hey,
What about the protocol version? can I change it? how? cause I flashed it and the radio changed but the protocol is the same.
I'll try to flash it with windows vista, to see if I can, because XP won't let my.. olnly SD flashing
Ok, I Installed a cingular flash, now I've protocol 32.67.7020.10H. Radio:1.34.00.10 and still having the same problem. I don't know what to do now... any suggestions? !
thanks
PD: also tryed putting a little piece of paper over the sim but it didn't changed anything
PD2: The error I get when I go to Phone Settings -> Netowrk, and I choose "Manual" is: "Unable to read setting from the netowrk. Try viewing settings later, or disconnect data connection and try again.
